What's The Best Way to Assign Keywords to Multiple Images?

I'm finally starting to organize my photos with keywords, but something about the way it works in LR2 is driving me batty.
I came back from a concert Saturday night with over 1,000 photos (double coverage by me and my wife).  I'm trying to use keywords to designate the 14 different performers who appeared on the stage at different times during the evening, when there could be anywhere from 1 to 7 performers on the stage at the same time.
Now, it seems to me the easiest way to assign these keywords would be:
1) select a series of photos in which one or more performers appear
2) in either the "keyword suggestions" or "keyword set" panel, click on the keyword "buttons" I've already created from the performers names.
But this doesn't always work.  I note that when I highlight a number of photos, ONE is more brightly highlighted than the others, and sometimes, that's the ONLY one that gets the keywords I just clicked on. Apparently, that one image is more "selected" than the others in the series I've highlighted.
It would not be quite so infuriating if that approach didn't work at all, but the oddity seems to be that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and I don't know what I'm doing different when it does or doesn't work.
What does work universally is to to the "Keyword List" panel and type in the name I need, and then right click when the name comes up and select "add keyword to selected photos."  That seems to work every time.
Or, I can type "Click here to add keywords," type in the name I need, and hit return twice.  That assigns the keyword to all the selected images.  But then I have to do it again for every performer that appears in that series of frames.
Like I say, the easiest scenario would be the 1-2 step I outlined above, but I cant seem to get that to work all the time.
Anybody know the trick to getting that 1-2 scenario to work every time?
Thanks,
--PS

Oh, wow.  I have exactly the same problem of LR not assigning keywords to all my selected images.
I will try the grid, select the grid and not the filmstrip, and look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.
BTW, Adobe told me to delete the preferences file, which I did.
They told me to optomize the catalog, which I did.
And, lastly they told me to create a new catalog and import all the data from my old catalog, which I did not do.
Stand by ...
Wow, that is it.  You folks solved my problem.
Library Mode, select in the grid OR filmstrip (yep-but harder to see in the filmstrip anyway),
COULD NOT FIND-look for the current image metadata checkbox as well.

  • What is the best way to add text to an image

I used the draw ap div to add text to an image.  will that cause any problems?  If so, what is the best way to add text to an image?  Thanks!

APDivs will kill your design unless you fully understand the css behind the scenes and plan accordingly. They really are completely unnecessary in the vast majority of situations.
An easy way to add "web text over an image" would be to use the background-image attribute in css for a standard <div> tag, then just add the text within that same <div>.
Something like this in the css (if you are using a 300x300 pixel image)...
    #yourdiv {
         background-image:url(yourpic.jpg);
         width:300px;
         height:300px;
And then this in the html...
    <div id="yourdiv">Your text here</div>
You would then position the <div> using css margins, floats and padding. Using position:absolute (APDivs) is typically something that will blow your design to pieces if the viewer changes their browser settings.

  • What is the best way to assign time stamps to counter input data?

    Compact DAQ
    NI 9411
      Hi Everyone,
I am creating a chart recorder for collecting various engine data.  I need to plot engine speed, crank angle, and various analog data on an XY graph.  I am using a counter and a mag pickup to continuously measure the frequency of the flywheel teeth.  From this data I create an array of timestamps based on accumulated periods for each frequency measurement.  My problem is, how do I determine the absolute timestamp for the first frequency of the buffered data?  I need to sync the frequency data with the analog data so I can plot it all vs time on an XY graph.  The flywheel has 201 teeth and the engine runs at 600 RPM.
I am using a second mag pickup and counter to measure a single index pulse on the flywheel.  This will be used to determine the crank angle.  I also need to create a timestamp for each index pulse.  What is the best way to do this?
Is it possible to treat the two mag pickups as an encoder and not use the B phase (direction) pulse?
I am fairly new to LabView and any help would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks in advance,
      Kris

    Hi Kris,
With analog and digital input tasks in DAQmx, it is possible to acquire data of the type 'waveform'.This includes timestamp information for the acquired data. This example is a good one to reference to understand how this is done: http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-3749 .
With counter tasks in DAQmx, however, your best bet would be to use the 'Get Date/Time in Seconds' VI to obtain the absolute time. You can set this up so that the absolute time value is obtained right before the DAQmx read function is called, as shown below:
Are you trying to use the 9411 to read from the mag pickup? What type of data does it output?
For information on programming with NI-DAQmx, please refer to the following webpage: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5438 . It is a very useful resource to get started on DAQmx applications! I hope this helps.

  • What is the best way to use Keywords?

I find, to start out, that I'm possibly being too 'wordy' in my descriptions of images. I'm wondering if I might be better off to use single words like: sky, clouds, bird, etc...
The problem comes when I have birds for subjects and some are 'bird in flight' or 'Red winged Blackbird in flight' and then it starts to get too wordy.
I'm afraid that I won't have accurate or complete searches of all available items if I don't stick to simple one word keywords.
What does the voice of experience teach on this? What is working best for those who rely on keywords?
Can you help me with this?
    TIA,
    Ken

I don't know if there is a video tutorial that shows the detail of what you are explaining.
Pretend this is the box where I enter keywords, and would it look like this:
    bird redwinged blackbird in flight
    another box example:
    bird redwinged blackbird posing
Is that how I would enter it?
I'm somewhat unclear on what you are asking.
I'm guessing you are referring to the Filter Bar, where you have selected Text and then type in the text that you have stated. If that's a good guess on my part, then here's my answer: you don't need the high level keyword in your search "bird" as this doesn't help at all to separate the photos you want from the ones you don't want. You only need the "redwinged blackbird" and "in flight". You would type in only as much as you need to select the photos of interest.
You could also use the Metadata part of the Filter Bar, which would enable you to make the equivalent selection without having to type the keyword names. Depending on whether or not you are a good typist, and whether or not your memory of what the keywords are is accurate, the Metadata selection may work easier.

  • What is the BEST way to do a dynamically loading image slideshow?

    Hey guys!
I know a little Flash, a little Dreamweaver, a little PHP,

    See

It will be the best $20 you ever spent. It displays images
    based on an
XML file, which you can generate dynamically with PHP. All
    you'd need to
do then would be to upload a new image and it could
    automatically be
    added to the show.

  • What is the best way to aggregate photos from multiple family users into a single iCloud photo library?

My wife and I currently have a iPhone and iPad each.
We share my apple ID account for apps and I also use this as my main icloud account on my devices.
My wifes devices have a different main icloud account.
We also have a iMac with separate users configures, which are tied to our individual icloud accounts.
Now that OSX photos has been released we want to make use of it including icloud photo library.
We take photos. Lots of them.
And we want the photos from all our devices to be aggregated automatically into a single osx photos/iCloud photo library.
1 - because we want a single library which includes all our photos from the last 15 yrs
2 - because we don't want to pay twice for storage
Seems to me there are two options - but I would be happy to hear any others.
    1) The family sharing route
This seems to be the official solution, but it has major limitations.
Set up family sharing. I'll be the organiser since its my apple id thats used for app purchases already
Add my wife to the family
Ah... but now she has to manually share every photo or moment from he device
And it seems that these moments are not incorporated into the photos database in same way as the icloud library account users (me) are
    2) Family iCloud account
I didn't test it yet, but no reason that I can see why it should not work
Create a new icloud account for the family
Make this family account the primary icloud account on all devices (could be a big disruption for icloud enabled apps)
Add our personal apple ids as mail/contact/calendar account
Make a new user on OSX for photos which has the family icloud account configured
No all devices should share the same photo library
    Unfortunately:
We lose bookmark, keychain, etc sync between devices and osx accounts
    We lose imessage (maybe).
We lose the new ios8/yosemite features like handoff
Or worse we get crazy imessage/handoff between all devices from all accounts
    Both methods have major downsides.
Anyone know of a better way?
Why doesnt apple allow multiple separate icloud accounts to be configured and select which features each can use (where some features may have to be unique to a single account). To me this would seem to be the best option...

  • What is the best way to set property to multiple fields?

    Dear Experts
My requirement is, I want to allow user to fill only some specific fields in the form. When user A opens the form, he may be able to fill Field1~Field10. And when user B opens the form, he may be able to fill Field11~Field20.
I have implemented one solution as below to do this but the performance is poor.
    - Recursively poppulate all fields into array
    - Iterate all fields to make it read only (Field.access = 'readOnly')
    - Iterate all fields and compare with enabled fields list, if any field matchs then enable it (Field.access = 'open')
(I have list of enabled fields for each user like this : form1[0].page1[0].ProjectNumber[0],form1[0].page1[0].CustomerName[0],form1[0].page1[0].Fi nishedGoodsNo[0],......)
Is there a better way to reference multiple fields to set their property?
I know, we can reference multiple fields using FormCal like Field[*] but is it possible to complete my case?
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks

We make web application which accept the form designed by end user. So we try to make them most comfortable to use LyfeCycle Form Designer by creating tds template for them and it contains the script which enable/disable fields. So the user don't have to set all fields to read only. Our script will do it.
Anyway I will adjust when enabling them.
    One more doubt.
When I type in the script editor, it lists member :
    - all, the hint says "Returns the collection of like-named, in-scope nodes. If the node has no name, a like-classnamed collection is returned."
    - classAll, the hint says "Returns the collection of like-class, in-scope nodes."
Can I get all fields by these member? get fields from class?
It would be good if it can do.
I try to check XFA reference and use them but cannot get how it work.
    Could you please suggest?
    Thanks

  • What is the best way to put padding on an image

I know there is a long winded solution to padding out an image. For example i want to increase the size of an image without rescaling it but by just adding a certain number of pixels in width and hieght and make the color of those pixels white. does anyone know of a good method to do this.

Short-winded solution: Create a new BufferedImage of the correct size and obtain its graphics context (createGraphics), fill with the desired color (g.fillRect), and then draw the original on top of it (g.drawImage).

  • The Best Way to Assign an Enum to the Corresponds value of a String?

I am reading from and xml file configuration file. The data being returned is stored as a String and corresponds to a Enum value. My question is - What is the best way to assign the enum the value that corresponds to value of the string?

String name = "FRED";   // This is the data retuned from the xml file.
Names n =              // I want to assign n the value of Names.FREDI know I could do an "if" statement. However, this is a contrived example with only a few enum values. In the real world, this enum list could be quite large.

If those were to be mentioned in the JavaDoc, they should obviously go into the documentation of java.lang.Object only.
I suppose you could have a "synthetics" section to the docs in much the same way that the inherited methods and fields are defined but it doesn't seem very useful. It's not useful if it's just clutter that's the same everywhere, of course.
But in this particular case a simple "note that enum classes have a syntetic valueOf() method that does foo bar baz" in the body of the class documentation would have been a nice guesture (especially since that part is pretty small here anyway).
And yes, I also think that the length field of arrays should find some mention in the JavaDoc. I don't know how and where, 'though.

using for a business card template.  avery template will let me attach images i want to the project.  to do this..  i "get file from computer" and it drops the image in but real small... then you are supposed to enlarge it onto your work however you want.  well when i enlarge this image file, it gets pixelated badly.  i'm thinking it's the way i'm saving it.  i do not adjust anything when i save.  maybe i should.  this is where i need guidance.
this is what avery template notes about the images i am allowed to use - When uploading the image, the maximum size allowed is 4 MB.  You can only upload JPG and PNG images either as RGB or CMYK.  so when you recommend things, can you please keep this in mind

    Aida,
When you save with the default template using save for web it is generally a very low settings.
While in the save window you can define the pixel size of the image you want with quality as well as resolution too.
