What's the best way to put a programmatically sizeable transparent image onto a VI front panel
The problem is twofold: 1) how can programmatically read a transparent image (i.e. image with transparent background) and 2) how can I programmatically position and size that image onto a VI front panel. The best luck I had with item 2 was with a boolean custom control with an imported image. However, this control does not have a programmatic method for importing an image, so the image had to be manually cut&pasted into the custom control.

If the image is static, it's possible. You can drop a metafile on the front
panel, and use Panel>Decorations> to get a reference to the image. Resize it
as desired.
Changing the image (e.g. from file) is not possible this way, but you can
put multiple images on the screen and change the visibility...
If you want to make a picture viewer, I'd consider an activex control (this
way you can load several picture formats without any programming).

What is the best way to put various songs into one album?
I have been adding album information and album artwork within iTunes to take advantage of cover flow, but i have a lot of songs in my music library that are "stand alone" songs - it is the only song from that artist. I want to put all of these songs together in one album, so all of my miscellaneous rock songs will be put into a Rock Music album or file. I want to do this to eliminate all of the grey boxes within cover flow for all of these songs. When i give the files all the same album name (Rock Music) and album artist (Various Artists) it still does not put them all together within iTunes. It will do it for some, but not all.
What is the best way to put all of these miscellaneous songs into the same album?Try marking all the tracks as part of a compilation. Click on the first track in your list, hold down the shift key and click on the last. Right click anywhere in the selection and choose Get Info, when you are asked if you want to edit multiple items say yes. Change compilation at the bottom of the window to Yes.

Yes, you can put more than one movie on a DVD, as long as the total length of both together is not over 2hrs for single-layer DVDs.
I know what you mean about it taking so long for the burning....my DVDs are usually just close to 2hrs, so taking 12-14hrs to burn is not unusual for me. I just do it overnight, and it is finished in the morning. I 'save to disc image' first, and then do the burning from Disk Utility.
Trust me, I've tried everything I can think of to be able to.
I am surprised that you cannot get your movies exported back to DV tapes with your camcorder. I looked up its specs, and it shows it has Firewire port, so you should be able to export. I would pursue this further....
Have you tried saving your movies as QuickTime Full-Quality and then importing that into a new iMovie and exporting that? You will need to have more free space to copy the movie, but once you have made the QT movie, you can delete the original one, and you can delete the QT one after the export. Also, it may take a LOOOONNNGGG time for the compression/process necessary to create the QT movie, and somewhat long for the import into iMovie, but I have found that iMovies that would not export to my camcorder in their original form exported easily after I made the QT one. -

What is the best way to put LabVIEW DSC data into an Oracle database?
I have been collecting data using LabVIEW DSC 7.0 for several years and have always accessed the data from the Citadel database via the Historical Data Viewer. I would now like to begin putting this data into an Oracle database. My company stores all their data in Oracle and it would provide me all the benefits of their existing infrastructure such as automated backups, data mining tools, etc.
My initial thought is to use "Read Trace.vi" in LabVIEW to pull historical data from the citadel database at regular intervals (e.g. 1 minute) and insert this data into Oracle via ODBC. In this way, I do not need to track the value changes in order to know when to write to Oracle. I also considered replicating the citadel database using some other method, but I recall that the tables used by citadel are somewhat complicated. I only need a simple table with columns for channel, timestamp, and data. The "Read Trace.vi" will provide me data in this format.
I do not need to update the Oracle database in real time, a few minute delay is acceptable. If anyone has a better idea or additional insight please let me know. Multiple movies--what's the best way to put them all on one disc?
Hi there, as an Xmas present for the grandparents, we are compiling a bunch of movies of our daughter in various stages of her 3 years thus far, and we are hoping to put them on a DVD so that they can watch it on their DVD player / television. We were thinking of just burning them as data files to a CD so that they could see them on their computer, but were hoping that we could find a way to burn them onto a DVD so that they could watch it on their television instead!
Will iDVD do the trick? We have an iMac 21.5" and the movies are all from our Panasonic point and shoot digital camera...

What is the best way to put PDF file to iBook
I've just got iPad 2 as my wedding's gift last two weeks which i have to admit that I'm very very into it.(I currently got iPhone 3G and computer knowledge)
But the problems is my computer's hdd was full of data and I can't manage to delete some of them now so, it's impossible to put more books in my iTune and sync to iPad as it's a regular way.
Any one have any suggestion to put the PDF directly to iPad without sync with iTune with the following conditions.
1. No jailbreak
2. No paid apps (Pay enough this month)
3. The file size was quite large (Over 100 Mb each)
4. Inter/Local net enabled
Thanks in advance.Where are the PDFs ? If they are already on your computer then you can add them to iTunes without a separate copy being created in the iTunes media directory - if you make sure that 'Copy File To iTunes Media Folder When Adding To Library' is unticked on the Advanced tab in Edit > Preferences then when you add them to iTunes it shouldn't create it's own copy, and should point to their current location instead. You should then be able to sync them as normal.
If they are on websites then you should be able to open them in Safari and then use 'open in' to copy them to iBooks. You can also email them to yourself as attachments and then use 'open in' in the Mail app.
There are also apps such as PDF Reader Lite iPad Edition (which is free) which you can use to transfer PDFs to your iPad via your wifi network (or via the file sharing section in iTunes). When the PDFs are then in that app on the iPad you can then copy them from there into iBooks. -

I know there is a long winded solution to padding out an image. For example i want to increase the size of an image without rescaling it but by just adding a certain number of pixels in width and hieght and make the color of those pixels white. does anyone know of a good method to do this.
Short-winded solution: Create a new BufferedImage of the correct size and obtain its graphics context (createGraphics), fill with the desired color (g.fillRect), and then draw the original on top of it (g.drawImage).

What is the best way to make my file in FCPX Compatible for a DVD.
I am working with a file that is about 53 minutes in length. The video is broken up into 14 3to5 minute videos. During my project, as I completed each video, I saved a master file and shared as APPLE PRO RES so that I wouldnt lose anything as this is my first time working with FCPX. This made a hi-def quicktime file of each video (came out great). Now I need to put the entire project together. My individual master files are about 4g a piece and I would imagine putting them together, will be way too large to make a dvd with.
My question is what is the best way to put it all together and export/share? I have all of the original projects still in FCPX, do i copy and paste them into one big file? Then share, and If I share what format should i share with? I need to take the file, throw it on a external HD and put on my laptop to create the DVD in IDVD. Needs to be decent quality for the DVD. I have read that I can create a DVD right from FCPX, but that would be impossible as I am working on a new imac with no burner!

All sounds good.
Create a new project and paste your 14 videos (projects) sequentially into it, Perhaps insert a gap clip and put in chapter markers if you want. Share>DVD. Should create a high quality disk.

The background video loop I purchased is only 5 seconds. In Movie Maker, I just hold the end of the clip on the timeline & drag it longer & the background video will go back to the beginning once it reached the end of the 5th sec.
Do I copy & paste & repeat the clips on the timeline as I don't seem to be able to pull it once it reach 5 secs long.
