What's the deal when syncing to an iPhone? Unexpected results
I'm new to Aperture, and have had odd issues when syncing selected Aperture albums through iTunes to my iPhone 3G. First, the photos appear in chronological order in Aperture 2, but are completely random when browsing the albums on my iPhone. Also, edits do not appear in images on my iPhone - not even simple crops. Can anyone please help? I've restored my iPhone once, and it didn't do anything, and it's frustrating that I cannot find a photo on my iPhone when I want. iPhoto did it fine!
Well, I did a test a few minutes ago. I made a working copy of one photo and gave it a big blue cast, so I could see the difference to the original photo. The working copy was stacked together with the original, so I moved the working copy to first place in the stack. I checked the settings in Aperture for iLife support: quality is set to 10 and max. size of previews is set to 1920x1920 px. On top of the iLife checkmark is the checkmark "create previews on demand" which is checked in my case.
I then connected my iPhone and synched it with iTunes to that project. The photo with the blue cast I created in Aperture was shown on my iPhone. Thats it.

What is the deal with "Apple official unlocked" iPhones on eBay?

thanksYes, they are officially unlocked by Apple. Yes they will work on T-Mo but not completely. T-Mobile 3G WILL NOT function on the iPhone 3G due to different frequencies. If you have trouble believing this saying that there isn't one unlocked to test on T-Mo then look at the G1 Android phone from T-Mobile, it WILL NOT work on AT&T 3G, and it can be unlocked.

There are secretly four different types of unlocked iPhones (Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint) based on where you bought it from, depends on how it will work. Only when purchased directly from Apple will you be able to use SIM cards from the United States if you want to use a small regional carrier. Also if you got an unlocked from Radioshack or Best Buy or something, the version counts as the carrier it comes with, not Apple, so a Verizon unlocked from Best Buy is a Verizon-type unlocked iPhone. -

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one. -

Trax and kirt are correct. I'm pretty good with technology, being an engineer and all, and I can tell you for a fact that this 'swoosh' sound (triggered by a successfully sent SMS) can NOT be disabled from ANY menu in iOS 5. The ONLY way to disable it is to flip the silent switch on the left hand side of the phone. This is extremely annoying for some people (like trax, kirt, and myself). For what we pay for Apple products and, in particular, this phone, we simply didn't expect to have to deal with such annoyances. That's why we're Mac users. Please fix this bug.
I feel like I shouldn't have to say this but it bears repeating: turning off message sounds from the 'sounds' menu does not fix his problem. It still emits the swoosh noise. Whoever suggested this clearly didn't try it because it obviously doesn't work. Who posts a solution to a problem without knowing for a fact that their solution is correct? I find that response condescending because he writer is assuming we're not smart enough to have tried it. In reality, it's vice versa. -
Syncing -whenever I connect my iPad to my computer it ejects my external hard drive which is where my iTunes library is stored? What's the deal???
Anyone know how to fix this?You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.

When I plug in my Lacie Firewire 800 drive into my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion - 10.8.2, it causes certain apps to crash. Chrome will immediately crash when I open it, so will DVD player. It's only when I plug in my Firewire 800 drive, USB does not cause issues. What's the deal?
I've restarted, verfied the disk, repaired permissions, smc reset.. don't know what else to do..Contact Lacie since it's their product you are having issues with.

I'm glad you are taking advantage of Smart Rewards, holla2012. When attempting to place a bid, have you noticed if the time on the item is near expiration? Have you tried clearing your cookies and cache on your browser?

I am having problems syncing my iPad 2 with iTunes. Whenever I click "sync" or "apply," the sync begins. As soon as it gets to step 3 (in this particular case "determining apps to sync") it immediately stops syncing. What's the deal here?
You haven't purchased apps with multiple Apple ID's have you? If you have, you can only sync with one Apple ID in the iTunes library at a time. Whichever ID you are signed into on the computer and the iPad would determine which apps would sync.

If your wireless environment is less than ideal, as it is in most inhabited areas, the influence of other wireless networks and devices competing for the same very small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum will affect your network's performance. Your own wireless network is a microcosm of that environment.
To mitigate the effects of competing wireless networks, use 5 GHz to the maximum practicable extent. It is comparatively free from interference contributed by other wireless devices and is likely to remain that way for some time. However, it is less tolerant of intervening obstructions and construction materials than the 2.4 GHz spectrum, so it's not a panacea. Every installation is different so you must experiment to determine the optimum configuration.
Place your wireless router (what kind is it?) in a central location, convenient to all the devices that require it. Most of the time a utility or ISP will locate it in some remote corner next to the utility service entrance. That is almost always the worst possible location.
Others find that only a direct wired Ethernet connection between router and devices will maintain uninterrupted access to Airplay.
That is almost certain to result in the best possible AirPlay performance. Short of having everything hard wired (it's not an option for the iPad for example) use an Ethernet connection for all the devices that lend themselves to that method. Your AppleTV is certainly one of them, since its location is not likely to change very often. Your AirPort Express should be another, since your audio systems are likely to stay put as well. Connect them both to your existing router, either directly or through an inexpensive Ethernet switch. Your problems are likely to be solved with just those two connections. -
What is the deal with the crazy zooming when I drag the playhead??
What is the deal with the zooming in with the dragging of the playhead??? I'm sure I can adjust/turn off this feature in the preferences. How could i use this to benefit me? How would it? It seems so spastically erratic!
I use it quite a bit for zooming in and out (by dragging up and down) but you have to be careful you don't move left or right when doing this as it then becomes a bit unpredictable as you say...
If you just want to use the playhead for dragging left and right (and if you can't find a pref to turn it off) you'll just have to be careful to drag only in the horizontal axis and not up or down..

Can anyone explain this to me? (Please note that I am a review addict, and look at reviews before buying anything so I don't make a regretful choice. One of the things that sealed my decision on the Zen was the 8.3 from CNET.)
I've been deciding to upgrade from the Zen's EP-480 set for a few weeks now, and it's a tossup between the Aurvana and the EP-630.
Problem is, everywhere seems to report that the Aurvana is very average. Looking at customer reviews on retail sites and media critics, they all barely rate the Aurvana above average. Looking in the same sources at the EP-630, it has a close to perfect score from various ones.
Now, here's what blows my mind. I stumble upon Creative's European site, and the reception for the Aurvana is better than the EP-630 set. Other countries seem to love the Aurvana more than the EP-630, while the US does not. See for yourself:
