What's the easiest way to sync my new 2G nano to my 1G nano library?

Ok, this shouldn't be too tough. I want to give away my Nano to a friend and simply connect my new 8GB Nano to my current iTunes library setup. What's the easiset way to do this?

Connect your new Nano and follow the on screen instructions, it will find your existing iTunes and update. Depending on the size of your library you can have it update the whole lot, selected playlists or you can manage it manually.
For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences:
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists or "Sync Music - All songs and Playlists" in iTunes 7. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only or "Sync Music - Selected playlists" in iTunes 7. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists or "Manually manage music and videos" in iTunes 7. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

iTunes will sync Google Contacts, but not calendar. Weird. Why? What's the best fix?

There must a better way to do this. The problem is, YOU CAN'T UNCHECK IPHOTO in the installer. You pretty much need all the support files which you can't see in the installer, but you usually don't want iphoto.
1 way to get around this is: Quit the installer if you launched it. Open the install disc > search = (any ilife app) > make visibility option 'invisible'. (if you don't know how, search invisible files in apple's help menu). run through the stuff to find a 'packages' (or some similar name) folder. Inside of that, I install everything except for what I don't want, which for me is the iphoto and imovie stuff.
Still there must a better way, maybe you can create your own installer from the packages w/ package maker or something and burn that image... Worth trying...
Please be assured that you will not get full integration between the current apps and the iLife apps in 10.9.x; Mavericks.  The apps don't have all the expected hooks to each other due end of product development. This seems to be the crux of the problems I've had testing to make an idvd dvd.
If you're running 10.9, I recommend moving on to current replacements that will work as expected. That way you won't be wasting time running down project problems.

  • What's the easiest way to create a new VLAN and then move all existing devices to it?

One of our locations was implemented using VLAN1 as the main (native) VLAN. My goal is to create a new sub-interface on the router and then move all the existing switches (all Layer 2) into the new VLAN, without disrupting the network (and remotely). I am trying to determine the best way to proceed. Thanks.

I wanted to shed a little more light on the situation. The "new" VLAN has actually been in existence since the network was initially setup. The network runs VTP and the new VLAN already has an interface on the router and already shows up on all the switches when you do a "sh vlan" command. We have about 10 VLANs in all. In reality, I am simply trying to migrate about 8 switches from VLAN1 (which they never should have been on) to the new VLAN. I know that I need to create an interface for the new VLAN on each of the switches and then swap the management IP to that interface. If I could connectly directly into each switch via the console port, this would be a simple task. However, the switches are in extremely remote locations with special circumstances, thus I have no physical access to them. This fact has me a little reluctant to making the changes, as we can't afford any mistakes that would potentially cause network downtime. I am looking for some guidance on exactly the steps to take to achieve my goal. Let's call the new vlan, VLAN2. During testing, I logged into a local switch that was on VLAN1 (that's where it had it's management address). It did have VLAN2-VLAN10 as well, via VTP. I created an interface for VLAN3 on the switch and then accessed it via VLAN3 to swap the main management interface from VLAN1 to VLAN2. The changes took, but I couldn't access it via VLAN2. I am assuming this is because the router still has VLAN1 listed as the native vlan and the VLAN2 IP address is still assigned to VLAN1 on the router. What would be the best way for me to make the required changes on the 8 switches that need swapped, without losing remote access? It wouldn't hurt if the network went down for 5 minutes or less, but we can't have a big outage. Thanks.

  • What is the easiest way to sync and back up 2 iPhones with different accounts on one computer?

My parents have gotten a new Windows 8 computer and want to use it to back up and sync their phones for updates. They don't share an iTunes account but they do share the credit card used to make purchases. They also so not want to set up "his and her" accounts on the computer. Also they are getting new phones next week. Should I just make an account for them to share and delete their old accounts, or will signing in and out of iTunes based on who is using it keep their information seperate...or is there a much simpler way to do it that I am totally missing?

I wouldn't say that it is easily done, but it can be done, the reason I don't say easily is because it has to be done individually one at a time. And I assume that you are talking about all ten having the same apps?

  • What is the easiest way to sync two ipads?

I just received a newer ipad.  how do I migrate the apps and data from old model?

Sync (and make sure to let it fully back up) the old one. Connect the new one to iTunes (I recommend a cable rather than wireless sync - first one will take a while if you have lots of songs, movies, etc) and instead of "set up as new device" select "restore from backup" and use the back-up from your original iPad.

  • What is the best way to sync a second Ipod (7th generation nano) to itunes

What is the easiest way to sync a second Ipod (7th gerneration nano)?  I want all my songs on both ipods.

iTunes treats each iPod separately, so you can set up each iPod's syncing as desired, without regard to the other one.  You can connect them both at the same time, and set them up differently or identically.
Here is a convenient way to set up automatic syncing, and in your case, keep both iPods in sync with each other.
I want all my songs on both ipods.
First, if your entire iTunes music library ("all of my songs") fits on the iPod, it will be easy.  Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Click on Music there.  Set it to Sync Music.  Below that, chose to sync Entire music library.  Apply the change.  Your entire music library syncs to your iPod.  Repeat for other iPod.  Any changes you make to your iTunes music library going forward syncs automatically to your iPods, when you connect them (or click the Sync button).
Otherwise, if your music library does not fit (or you want to be more selective), you need to set up the Music tab, but choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  This is where you can keep it simple...
Create a new regular playlist in iTunes, and name it something like "iPod Songs."  Add ALL of the songs you want on your iPod to that playlist.  Back on the Music tab, find and select ONLY that new playlist under Playlists.  Apply the change.  The songs on that playlist sync to your iPod.  Repeat for other iPod.  Going forward, when you want to update songs on your iPods, just update that playlist (add and remove songs).  Changes you make to that playlist sync automatically to your iPods, when you connect them (or click the Sync button).

  • What is the easiest way to backup my iPhoto Library?

I have a lot of photos in my iphoto library (over 4,000) and I think it's time to back them up onto a DVD (I can't remember how many photos fit on a CD, but I'm pretty sure I will need to burn it to a DVD). What is the easiest way to do it?

    Shannon:
Besides backing up your entire library folder I recommend you make a backjup copy of the Library6.iPhoto file that's in the iPhoto Library folder. It contains all the information, albums, keywords, comments, etc. for the library and if it gets damaged the library is lost. Not your photos but just all the organization that the iPhoto imparted to the photos. So if you make a backup after every import and after you've done a lot of organizational effort like books, keywords, slideshows, etc., you'll be able to get back to that state if there's a damaged file. The damaged file can occur by a sudden shutdown, bad software update of some sorts.

  • What is the Easiest way to create a playlist?

What is the easiest way to create a playlist without going through all 1500 in my iTunes?  I know some artists I want all their songs.......others I don't.

I have WMP on my computer and know you can quite easily make playlists within it.
Then if you connect your player to the computer and drag and drop the playlist into the sync
screen you should then be able to transfer it to the player.
Not tried this way as I always use Zen Media Explorer for making playlists.
Gi've it a try-you have nothing to lose.

  • What is the easiest way to transfer music from my ex's itunes library to mine? We both have Macbooks and we do have home sharing.

Over the years my ex's and I bought tons of music off itunes, but always bought it on her Macbook. Now that we aren't together I want to copy all of the music from her itunes library and import it into mine. Is this possible, and what is the easiest way?
    Many Thanks

the simplest way, assuming all your media files are in the default location, would be to connect the two Macs with a firewire cable, boot the source Mac in Target Disk Mode, and copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) from <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the source to <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
that would ensure everything (including playcounts, ratings, original "date added", which home sharing doesn't copy over) will be transferred. it would also ensure that any mobile devices (iPhone, etc.) will simply keep on syncing without problems.
you can also use an external HD (or your LAN) but make sure to copy the entire iTunes folder.

  • What is the easiest way to copy individual photos from a pc to ipad?

what is the easiest way to copy individual photos from a pc to ipadair 2?  I have been told that transferring via itunes creates one mass file from which individual photos cannot be manipulated.

Photos synced from iTunes cannot be deleted one at a time if that's what you mean. They can be manipulated, if manipulated means editing or moving them into folders that you create on the iPad in the photos app.
I agree with Procyon256 that emailing is probably the easiest way for one at a time, but there are also WiFi transfer apps that are pretty nice for this purpose, I use this one.

What is the easiest way to remove duplicate contacts on my Iphone and avoid them in the future?

There are apps that will locate and remove duplicate contacts, such as My Contacts Backup Pro.  As for preventing them in the future, if you are syncing contacts both with iTunes and iCloud this will create duplicates.  If you are, pick one and disable the other.

  • What's The Easiest Way To Un-Disable My iPod.?

What is the easiest way to un-disable my iPod without having to download iTunes?

If you were using iCloud, you can remotely wipe it, provided your iPod is in range of a known Wifi you have previously connected to (therefore giving it internet access).  Other than that, you will need a computer and the ability to download iTunes to restore it.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
    Use Find My iPhone
If you enabled Find My iPhone, you can use it to erase your device.
Go to icloud.com/#find to see if you enabled Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices at the top of your browser window.
Select your device and click "Erase [device]" to erase your device and its passcode.
Use the Setup Assistant on your device to restore the most recent backup of your device.
    Use recovery mode
Follow these steps if you never synced your device with iTunes, if you don't have Find My iPhone set up, or if you can't get to your own computer. You'll need to put your device in recovery mode, which will erase the device and its passcode. Then you'll restore your device as new or from a backup.
Disconnect all cables from your device.
    Turn off your device.
Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
Click OK, then restore the device.
