What's the maximum amount of video able to fit on a DVD?

I have roughly 4.5hrs of video. Is it possible to fit this onto one DVD using Compressor & DVDSP? Or am I going to have to do it on 2 DVD's? Is it possible to compress it enough to make it fit?
Please help.
Thanks

Such a length of video will need a data rate of approximately 2MBPS if you intend to use MPEG2 at full D1 resolution. You could use MPEG1 and fit the content on the disc very easily, although visually it won't be as rich as MPEG2 at a higher rate.
Your other option is to use an encoder that can work at half D1 - which means you can use a higher data rate (if that's what you want to do) and still fit the footage onto a DVD-R.
If you are only using Compressor, have a go at using MPEG1 if you are sure that you only want to use 1 disc. Depending on the source material, you might be pleasantly surprised at the possible quality you can achieve with it.

Although Apple states a maximum of 8 GB, OWC (macsales.com) has tested 16 GB, so if you want to install 16 GB, I'd go with OWC as they tested it and do guarantee their RAM to work with Macs.

  • I just bought a docking station for my iPad so I could plug into a mixing board and record a live show.  I was disappointed at the time limitation for the recordings.  What is the maximum amount you can record a song into GB for the iPad?

I purchased a docking station for my iPad so that I could record a live recording of my band directly from a mixing board this weekend using GarageBand.  Unfortunately, I was unaware of the song length limitations of the iPad version of this program.  Basically, was unable to capture more than 15 minutes of the gig.  I've read other conversations on this forum and can't really determine the maximum amount of time this application can record.  Can anyone tell me how long GarageBand for ipad can record at one single time and how to adjust the settings to achieve this?  Also, is anyone aware of any other apps than could be used to record a longer please share.  Thanks.
    CP

I received an email reply from George, the Founder and CEO of Studiomini, he indicated to me that their app does not have any time limitations in regards to recording like GB does, you are only limited by the amount of free space on your iPad.  Fo what it's worth, I think the Alesis IO Dock is an amazing piece of equipment.  I would highly recommend purchasing the IO Dock and plugging your mixing board into the dock to capture your rehearsal.  Hopefully the feedback I received from Studiomini is accurate and I can capture my entire rehearsal at one time.  I hope this feedback helps.  One last note, apparently their will be a update soon to view Studiomni in the landscape view on the iPad instead of just the portrait view.

  • What is the maximum amount of memory my laptop can have?

I have a HP Pavillion DV6-7028tx with WIndows Home Premium installed, and I was wondering how much memory i can upgrade to?
The hp website says that 8gb is the maximum that it can handle, but the Corsair system scanner says that it should be able to hold a total of 16gb.
I've read that the maximum memory home premium can have is 8gb, so does that mean that if I upgrade to proffesional, I will be able to have 16gb?
Also, if I upgrade the memory myself, will it void my warranty?

    Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your PC.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03216834.pdf
Supported memory can be found in chapter one, page four.
The specs page shows 8 GB but that is contradicted by the manual. Plus you got confirmation from the corsair scanner that can run 16 GB in your machine.
What does it say about the FSB speed?  The manual states you can run PC3-1600 (PC3-12800).
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007609%20600000410%20600213067&IsNode...
W7 Home Premium will recognize up to 16 GB of memory so you do not have to upgrade the OS. Only beyond 16 GB would you need to go to W7 Pro.
You will not void the warranty if you read the service manual and follow the procedures for installing the memory, unless of course you fat finger something and physically damage the hardware.
The memory you install will not be covered under HP's warranty of course, but most quality memory carries its own lifetime warranty.

  • What is the maximum amount of hours the iphone 4 can record in 720p?

Also does it just record in 720p or is there some wwhere you can choose to record in hd or not?

Unsure about how many hours it will record.. I found this answer on another website, but it does not really answer exactly.
+"Iphone 4 come in two sizes 16gb and 32gb. I just did a test and the video stopped after 49mn51secs, saying that I had reached the maximum size for the video. And I still have 20 gb left free on the device."+
Back camera automatically records in 720HD. There is no option to switch.
You can however edit the videos in iMovie app and export it at: 360p / 540p or 720p

  • What is the maximum bit rate for a short NTSC standard def DVD?

I have about 30 minutes of content from FCP that I want to put on a DVD.
At first I tried iDVD and had problems with burning (although I did somehow make one DVD). So I built the project on DVD SP and made a DVD. However, the iDVD version looked much better. I checked out the file sizes and saw that there was 2 gigs on iDVD and only 1.6 DVD SP. Then I discovered the encoding options on DVD SP and I was curious what is the recommended average and maximum bit rate should be for the highest quality, yet still works in most DVD players?
    Thanks.

The rate is not based on running time.
    Some thoughts on rates
7.2 - 8.0 seems to be the general consensus for discs from computers. I play more conservative for the reasson listed in that link

  • What is the maximum amount of RAM allowed for a HP Pavilion dv6-7010eo?

Wanting to upgrade the RAM in our Pavilion dv6-7010eo running Window 7 (64 bit).

What is correct? 8GB or 16GB?

Every place I can find information about your actual laptop dv6-7010eo, not 7010us, it says 8 gb max.

    Hi,
8GB is the max as mentioned in the following link:

You can swap 2GB for 4GB to make 8GB or swap both or just stick with 6GB unless you want to run virtual machine(s).

  • Whats the maximum amount of ram and storage space i can fit into my 13" matchbook pro (early 2011)

I am looking to upgrade my mackbook pro and was wondering what's the highest amount of ram and maximum amount of hard drive space i can get.
also whats a good brand i should use for both ram and hard drive.

I like Hitachi (HGST) and have 6 of them in my inventory.  I never had any WD drives and there are some who do not speak well of them who's opinions I respect.
I also have many Seagate HDDs and currently have 1 TB Seagate SSHDs in my MBPs.  They are performing satisfactorily.

It's trying to tell you to change the encoding setting:
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
That was for single-layer DVDs. Double these numbers for dual-layer DVDs.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned about the time taken.
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • What is the maximum size for mailbox per user (Exchange 2007)

    Hello,
    I'd like to know:
What is the maximum size per mailbox, and is it not recommended to exceed 3 GB and about the items how many is the maximum per folder (inbox, .. )
    I've Exchange 2007 SP2, Outlook 2007 and 2010.
    Thank you.

    Hi
There is no size limit on mailboxes up to the maximum size of your database.  I normally recommend 2GB mailbox limits if you have some form of archiving in place.  If you have no archiving in place then the limit should be set at the amount of
data people need to keep - it is not a good idea for people to store mail in PST files because there is a limit on their mailbox.
See this article for item count recommendations:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905803
Also you need to upgrade your Exchange 2007 server to SP3 ... SP2 has been out of support for nearly 3 years already:

  • What's the maximum # of threads?

Support for asynchronous I/O (in HTTPService and WebService)
kinda implies that the Player has a thread pool that it gets a
spare thread from each time I do a send() on one of these
components. Each allocated thread will block until it gets a
response. If I don't get any responses (perhaps because it's
long-lived) how many threads can I obtain from the pool before the
Player runs out of threads (or is there no maximum or is it a
    start-up parameter)?

    Anakin1989 wrote:
    Hi,
I'm working on a pretty big program and i need a lot of threads to make it run well (it's an audio player and, of course, i don't need people to wait when, for example, they save a playlist). So, i put some of these tasks on different threads, plus others that i didn't need for making the program run faster, but they are there just to make the program run. Now i have at least 4 threads running at the same time and, in some cases, there are even 6 or 7. Is it too much? It's my first big program (it's just for fun but i still want it to run well) and i didn't need so many threads before. What's the maximum number of threads you'd recommend me to have?
Thanks. Are you experiencing any problems with the number of Threads you have? If not, stop worrying. On the other hand, are you sure you need all of them? There are alternatives to Threading, such as SwingWorker and Timer that might be able to help you out.
One thing you better make sure of is that you're not doing any Swing work off of the EDT, or doing things like sleeping or time-consuming work on the EDT.

  • What's the maximum size and length that go onto a DVD

I'm trying to put a whole load of home videos onto DVDs. What is the maximum size that can be burnt onto a DVD. There are a lot of hours on here, about 15 and I was hoping to try and get about 3 hours per DVD is this possible?
    Thanks
    Tom

If you're referring to a video DVD which will plan on a TV set via a DVD player then a single layer DVD disk can hold 120 minutes of playing time which includes the basic material and any animated menus in the project.
A double layer disk can hold 240 minutes.
If you are creating a data disk with the files copied to it then its a matter of grouping the files into batches of either slightly less than 4.7 GB for single layer and 9.4 GB for double layer.
if you're referring to  video DVD discs follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • What is the maximum size limit for a KM document to be uploaded?

    Hi,
    1.  I have a requirement, wherein the user wants to upload a document which is more than 448MB in KM.

    Hello,
    CM Repository in DB Mode:
If there is a large number of write requests in your CM usage scenario, set up the CM repository in database mode. Since all documents are stored in the database, this avoids unintentional
    external manipulation of the data.
    CM Repository in FSDB Mode:
In this mode, the file system is predominant. If files are removed from or added to the file system, the database is updated automatically.
If you mainly have read requests, choose a mode in which content is stored in the file system. If this is the case, make sure that access to the relevant part of the file system is denied or
    restricted to other applications.
What is the maximum size of the document that we can upload in a CM (DB) and CM (FSDB) without compromising the performance ?
There are the following restrictions for the databases used:
    ·  Maximum number of resources (folders, documents) in a repository instance
FSDB: No restriction (possibly limited by file system restrictions)
       DBFS and DB: 2,147,483,648
    ·  Maximum size of an individual resource:
FSDB: No restriction (possibly limited by file system restrictions)
DBFS: 8 exabytes (MS SQL Server 2000), 2 GB (Oracle)
       DB: 2 GB
Maximum length of large property values (string type):2,147,583,647 byte
What is the impact on the performance of Knowledge Management Platform and on Portal Platform when there are large number of documents that are in sizes somewhere from 100 MB to 500 MB or more.
The performance of the KM and Portal platform is dependent on the type of activity the user is trying to perform. That is a heavy number of retrievals of the large documents stored in the repository for
read/write mode decreases the performance of the patform. Searching and indexing in the documents will also take a propertionate amount of time.
    For details, please refer to,

Technically speaking the VM has a restriction according to plattform.  W2k is somewhere around 1,2G and Solaris, I believe, 4G.
Say for instance I was on a W2k box I allotted 500+ for my J2EE Engine that would leave me with the possiblity to upload close to 600mb documents max.
