What's the maximum counter frequency for the cRIO?

Hi Everyone,
First of all, thanks for your input here!
I'm new to the cRIO, but have been working with LabVIEW for awhile.  I need to accurately measure the time between several digital inputs.  One input starts the counter, another captures and stores the current counter value, and a third stops the timer and also captures and stores the counter value.  It's basically a stopwatch.  The problem is that the counter needs to run at a frequency of 100Mhz or greater.  It also needs to be at least 28 bits wide so that it won't overflow between start and stop inputs.  Is this possible with any of the cRIO systems currently available?  If so, how?  I'm assuming it will need to be implemented within the FPGA, but does the FPGA run that fast?
Thanks so much!

Hi Yohan,
Unfortunately, the cRIO is not capable of reliable frequencies at 100 MHz or greater.  I would recommend speaking with your local NI Field Sales Engineer or callteh NI Sales department at (888) 280-7645 to discuss the hardware that would accomodate your application.
The PXI-6586Rmay be an option: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/207297
I hope this helps!

    Hi,
What is the maximum zoom-factor for the iPad?
    Regards,
    Anil Yadav

I'm sorry -- I have not communicated my question well.   When I use full
page mode (no window borders, Ctrl-L) and zoom to many thousands %, then
entire screen (14000 pixels by 1200 pixels) is not used -- only about 9000
pixels x 1200 pixels.   The entire screen should have document content
because I'm extremely zoomed in.  There is no meaning to pixels/inch in
this context (and I tried your suggestion -- it made no difference).   This
seems to be a hard limitation of Adobe Reader X screen display...?

  • How to get the record count printed for the report in the Dashboards

    Hi,
I would like to get the record count printed at the bottom of every dashboard report like:
    < 1 - 25 of 6300 > instead of < 1 - 25 >
    Any help is appreciated
    Regards
    B

I have tried the following formula which identifies the lowest grain but it does not seem to give me correct result.. I am not getting the correct count. I am getting as 3.A work order can be updated only once at one point of time.hence the formula
MAX(RCOUNT(CAST("SR Wo Fact"."Crm Wo Number" AS CHAR) ||CAST("SR Wo Fact"."PSC Timestamp" as char)))
I tried only MAX(RCOUNT(1)), but I was able to get the record count as corect for Administrator but not for other users.
Has anyone come across this scenario.
    Thanks Shravan

What is the default gate frequency and default source frequency of the PCI-6602 DAQ?

    Hi coachcalamai,
The default behavior on the gate is as if there was no signal on the gate (ungated). If you want a trigger or to send a signal, you will specifically have to set it.
The default signal on the source is the 20MHz internal reference.
Anyway, hope that helps. Have a good day.

  • What's the maximum digital I/O frequency for the NI LabVIEW RIO Evaluation Kit ?

    Hi!
I'm trying to analyze some sort of sine signal at the frequency of about 3 MHz. Because the analysis should be very precise and fast (about 10 samples per period), I'm needing the maximum digital I/O frequency of the NI LabVIEW RIO Evaluation Kit.
    Regards,
    Erik

    Dracyon,
Can you please clarify a couple of things: you say you are trying to acquire a sine wave that has a frequency of 3 MHz, but you are asking for the maximum DIO frequency. I believe what you need to know is the maximum analog sampling frequency. For the sbRIO-9636 (part of the evaluation kit), the maximum aggregate sampling frequency is 200 kS/s at 16 bits of resolution. At 10 samples per period, you could sample a ~20k analog signal. If you are actually looking for maximum DIO frequency, this is a bit more complicated. We have a good whitepaper explaining this.

What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter?

    Hey guys,
I found out an answer by myself...
The missing link : the MacBook Pro needs to be powered... as in you need to plug the charger in...
In conclusion, you simply plug everything, turn on the MacBook Pro, close the lid, and there you go !

  • 6230i - What's the maximum attachment size for EMa...

    Hi
I got my new 6230i (Firmware 3.40 on T-Mobile) yesterday and have just set up my email on it and discovered that you can attach files to emails. Only problem seems to be that it says my attachments exceed the limit. That's a bit unfortunate as I've tried to attach only one image (~350kB) which I took with the built in camera.
Anyone know what the maximum size allowed for an attachment is and is there a way around it?
    Thanks
    Thomas

We are talking about 6230i (and not 6630).
In 6230i case, the max. size is limited:
    Sending: 100kB
    Receiving: 50kB
This is limited by the phone (and not network or email provider).Message Edited by embedded_system on 19-May-2006

they have to format it to make it mac "compatible", for a lack of better terms.  I don't know what they would do.

  • What's the maximum LAN speed with the Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter on my MacBook Pro?

While I was at Yodobashi Camera yesterday, I got a Thunderbolt to Gigabit ethernet adapter for my MacBook Pro. I figure, since I'm paying for the high speed fiber optic (Sony Nuro), why limit my self to wi-fi speeds at home?
Before connecting the adapter, via wi-fi it the speed was 143.8 Mbps down and 181.5 Mbps up.
After connecting the adapter and making a direct LAN connection to the router, the speed is 783.2 Mbps down and 940.1 Mbps up.
I'm certainly happy with the speed, but since Sony Nuro is supposed to be 2 Gbps down and 1 Gbps up I was wondering what the maximum possible is with this computer and adapter. Before asking the provider I was curious what the maximum specs where.
    The ether cable is a 3 m category 6.
    Thanks,
    doug

It's not really your computer that is getting the 2Gbps download - it is the router/ modem.
If you hooked better/ different hardware up you could probably push those speeds around your network too. The trouble is that most residential hardware is gigabit ethernet not fibre. Fibre cards & cable are expensive in comparison.
The existing hardware may allow you to 'bond or aggregate' multiple ethernet connections into one link to get more speed over ethernet. Obviously this requires more complex routers, switches & a network admin to set it up
Those speeds sound nice, this bottleneck will mean that other devices on you network can't choke up the whole connection & make other users sad.

  • What's on your wish list for the NIke+ sportkit?

Here's my wish list so far. What's on your wish list for the Nike+ Nano sportkit? (Already sent to Apple and Nike+ feedback so please don't tell me to do that. Apple & Nike+ do read the forum. )
    Nike+:
    I would like to see:
-- a date on the start of my goals (rather than just "you have 16 days to go").
--previous goal start and end dates (I have completed goals in half the time I gave myself but it doesn't show that)
--MOST IMPORTANT--some way to show improvement in pace (or distance, or time). At the moment you don't see what your previous cumulative pace was. You don't even know whether it's getting better or worse. You have to guess on the basis of looking back at each individual run.
--a simple, foolproof way to re-upload run data to Nike+
    Nano:
    I would like to see:
--a two-step way to end a run, rather the current four step Pause> Menu> spin the dial>End
--since the sensor obviously records steps (you can see step count in the xml file), let the users see that step count in their totals and upload the steps data to Nike+

    - support for podcast playing as well as typical control of now playing - the ability to move the item playing back if you miss something (say, while listening to a podcast or audiobook). I like to catch up on my podcasts while I run, then listen to music at the end of the run. I am kludging my way through with playlists right now, one for each day, but I'd really rather not. Really there should be a "Music" menu option so that you could choose to listen to an artist or an album or a genre - your choice - rather than just a playlist or shuffle songs.
    - support for other shoes, even legacy Nike shoes, perhaps with a rigid arch support insole or something that you can slip in that has a pocket for the sensor? I realize that Nike is likely looking at this as a way to make people buy higher margin shoes, but I'd pay extra for a Nike branded insole like that, too.
    - I agree with the option for a non-flash site.
    - The ability to turn off the power song feature, or at least customize some of the features. I'd prefer a quick trip to the main menu with a press and hold, say, with a menu item on the end of the main menu to return to the workout data (sort of like the "Now Playing" menu item) so that I can change music selections, change backlight timing, whatever.
    - I'd love to be able to access workout data on the PC without having to connect to the internet.
    - If you are listening to a podcast or audiobook, I'd like the spoken announcements ("you have 10 minutes to go") to pause the playback rather than speak over it, or at least give me the option to do so.
I've only had it a week; I am sure that I will come up with more as I use it more.

  • What is the best 'cleaning system' for the Mac?

What do you recommend as the best 'cleaning system' for the Mac!

    How to maintain a Mac
Make two or more backups of all your files
One backup is not enough to be safe. A copy of a backup doesn't count as another backup; all backups must be made directly from the original data.
Keep at least one backup off site at all times in case of disaster. Backing up to a cloud-data service is one way to accomplish this, but don't rely exclusively on such backups.
In fact, don’t rely exclusively on any single backup method, such as Time Machine.
If you get an indication that a backup has failed, don't ignore it.
Keep your software up to date
In the App Store or Software Update preference pane (depending on the OS version), you can configure automatic notifications of updates to OS X and other Mac App Store products. Some third-party applications from other sources have a similar feature, if you don’t mind letting them phone home. Otherwise you have to check yourself on a regular basis.
Keeping up to date is especially important for complex software that modifies the operating system, such as device drivers. Don't install such modifications unless they're absolutely necessary. Remove them when they are no longer needed. Before installing any Apple update, you must check that all system modifications that you use are compatible. Incompatibility with third-party software is by far the most common cause of difficulties with system updates.
    Don't install crapware
...such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, such stuff is useless or worse than useless. Above all, avoid any software that purports to change the look and feel of the user interface.
It's not much of an exaggeration to say that the whole "utility" software industry for the Mac is a fraud on consumers. The most extreme examples are the "CleanMyMac," "TuneUpMyMac," and “MacKeeper” scams, but there are many others.
As a rule, you should avoid software that changes the way other software works. Plugins for Photoshop and similar programs are an obvious exception to this rule. Safari extensions, and perhaps the equivalent for other web browsers, are a partial exception. Most are safe, and they're easy to get rid of if they don't work. Some may cause the browser to crash or otherwise malfunction. Some are malicious. Use with caution, and install only well-known extensions from relatively trustworthy sources, such as the Safari Extensions Gallery.
Only install software that is useful to you, not (as you imagine) to the computer. For example, a word processor is useful for writing. A video editor is useful for making movies. A game is useful for fun. But a "cache cleaner" isn't useful for anything. You didn't buy a computer so you could clean caches.
Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it. Otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve. Do not rely on "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.
Don't install bad, conflicting, or unnecessary fonts
Whenever you install new fonts, use the validation feature of the built-in Font Book application to make sure the fonts aren't defective and don't conflict with each other or with others that you already have. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions.
Deactivate or remove fonts that you don't really need to speed up application launching.
    Avoid malware
"Malware" is malicious software that circulates on the Internet. This kind of attack on OS X was once so rare that it was hardly a concern, but it's now increasingly common and dangerous.
There is some built-in protection against malware, but you can’t rely on it—the attackers are always at least one day ahead of the defense. You can’t rely on third-party "anti-virus" products for protection either. What you can rely on is common-sense awareness—not paranoia, which only makes you more vulnerable.
Never install software from an untrustworthy or unknown source. If in doubt, do some research. Any website that prompts you to install a “codec” or “plugin” that comes from the same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must come directly from the developer's website. No intermediary is acceptable, and don’t trust links unless you know how to parse them. Any file that is automatically downloaded from the web, without your having requested it, should go straight into the Trash. A web page that tells you that your computer has a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with it, is a scam.
In OS X 10.7.5 or later, downloaded applications and Installer packages that have not been digitally signed by a developer registered with Apple are blocked from loading by default. The block can be overridden, but think carefully before you do so.
Because of recurring security issues in Java, it’s best to disable it in your web browsers, if it’s installed. Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This action is mandatory if you’re running any version of OS X older than 10.6.8 with the latest Java update. Note: Java has nothing to do with JavaScript, despite the similar names. Don't install Java unless you're sure you need it. Most people don't.
Don't fill up your disk or SSD
A common mistake is adding more and more large files to your home folder until you start to get warnings that you're out of space, which may be followed in short order by a startup failure. This is more prone to happen on the newer Macs that come with an internal SSD instead of the traditional hard drive. The drive can be very nearly full before you become aware of the problem.
While it's not true that you should or must keep any particular percentage of space free, you should monitor your storage use and make sure you're not in immediate danger of using it up. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the startup volume for normal operation.
If storage space is running low, use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the most space. Move seldom-used large files to secondary storage.
    Relax, don’t do it
Besides the above, no routine maintenance is necessary or beneficial for the vast majority of users; specifically not “cleaning caches,” “zapping the PRAM,” "resetting the SMC," “rebuilding the directory,” "defragmenting the drive," “running periodic scripts,” “dumping logs,” "deleting temp files," “scanning for viruses,” "purging memory," "checking for bad blocks," "testing the hardware," or “repairing permissions.” Such measures are either completely pointless or are useful only for solving problems, not for prevention.
To use a Mac effectively, you have to free yourself from the Windows mindset that every computer needs regular downtime for maintenance such as "defragging" and "registry cleaning." Those concepts do not apply to the Mac platform.
A well-designed computing device is not something you should have to think about much. It should be an almost transparent medium through which you communicate, work, and play. If you want a machine that needs a lot of attention just to keep going, use a PC, or collect antique cars.
The very height of futility is running an expensive third-party application called “Disk Warrior” when nothing is wrong, or even when something is wrong and you have backups, which you must have. Disk Warrior is a data-salvage tool, not a maintenance tool, and you will never need it if your backups are adequate. Don’t waste money on it or anything like it.

    Hi all of you,
What is the default exception aggregation for the Non Cumulative Key Figure info object Stock?
When I am selecting Maximum, or minimum or Avereage (all values) its not selecting any of these values but only Average (weighted with the number of days) is getting selected.
    Please explain.
    Thank you.

    Hi Vinod,
    Thank you for your reply.
I had selected Last value as exception aggregation and activated it. But again when I double click on the IO STock, in the aggregation tab besides exception aggregation I find the option Average (Weighted with the number of days).
Is it getting selected by default when I check the radio button Ncum. value with in- and out-flow?
    Please explain.

  • What is the maximum operating time of the airport and airport extreme?

What is the maximum operating time of the airport and airport extreme? Can I leave it on for long periods of time, like never turning it off? Will it affect the performance of the said products?

Apple does not include an "Off" button on the AirPorts since they assume that you will leave it on all the time, like you would a modem.
If you are going to be gone for a week or two, it might make sense to power everything off during that time.
Otherwise, leaving the device(s) "On" actually results in less stress on the device that constantly turning it "Off" and "On". In other words, odds are the device will last longer if you leave it "On" most of the time.
Apple does not publish a life expectancy for the devices, but 5-7 years...on average....for a modem or router is about right....my opinion here.

I guess that 8 or max 12GB. It depends how many slots. It should support 12GB with 2 memory slots but only 8GB with a single one. The CPU itself supports up to 16GB.
