What's the most up-to-date OS my iMac can run?

What's the most up-to-date OS my iMac can run?
I have an early 2008 iMac 8.1 Intel Core Duo 2.8GHZ 320GB Hard Drive.
I'm currently running 10.5.8 — could you advise the most advanced OS it can handle?
Thanks

You should be able to run the latest Mountain Lion - make sure to up your RAM (ML is a bit of a memory hog).

  • I am running OSX 10.6.8 and currently have Keynote version 4.0.4  What is the most current version of Keynote that I can run, and where do I find it?

I have a friend who had sent me a document made in a more current version and thus I can't open the file.  I am hoping to find a newer version without changing the OS  that will allow me to view the document.  Is that possible?

It's probably easiest to ask your friend to save it in a format which Keynote 4.0.4 will open. It's possible to run Keynote 5 on Mac OS X 10.6.8, but it requires buying an iWork 09 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay.

  • What's the maximum size of data a coherence cluster can hold?

What's the maximum size of data a coherence cluster can hold before it starts noticing a degradation in performance?
Assume a partitioned topology is used with only one backup for each partition.

    Hi,
Coherence partitioned cache is designed for linear scalability and it does it quite well. I don't see any reasons of performance degrations with increase in data size given, you have enough cores and memory for processing the requests and managing the data.

Your MacBook Pro can be updated to run Mac OS X "Snow Leopard". Buy it. That will enable you to run the latest iTunes version.

Firefox 6.0 is the current version.
Get what denoted in what properties link.
You can get the version number in Help -> About Firefox,
and in '''about:support''' typed into the Location bar, and you can use JavaScript to list the user agent -- javascript:navigator.userAgent
I'm not aware of any version of Firefox from Fx 2 on up to Fx 6 where "AVG Safe" is not a problem. Crashes aren't the only failures caused.

  • What is the most effective way to get my imac 2 ghz intel core duo 2 10.4.11 to be able to run 10.5 and sync with my iphone 4s?

What is the most effective way to get my imac 2 ghz intel core duo 2 10.4.11 to be able to run 10.5 and sync with my iphone 4s?

As your Mac should run Snow Leopard provided it has at least 1GB memory, that would be a good deal easier and very much cheaper than trying to find a 10.5 install disc.
Snow Leopard costs $30 approx from the online Apple store (£26 if you're in UK)
You'll need to update Tiger to 10.4.11 with the combo installer first (unless you're just erasing the disc and starting fresh) You can then update SL from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 with its combo installer.
For comparison, 10.5 Leopard is currently running about $130 from Apple (if still available) and more on Amazon etc.

If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
    MB427Z/A  Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
    MB576Z/A  Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)

  • What is the latest  version of OS X that I can run on iMac PPC G4?

I'm having trouble using my old iMac PPC G4 flat panel due to the web browsers being so old that many web sites are not compatible. I can't upgrade FireFox or Safari to newer versions with my current OS X v10.3.9, which is probably the highest I can run on this iMac. Any advice?

Leopard, if your old G4 meets the requirements:

  • What is the most up to date implementation of web services in Java?

I'm completely new to web services and just got confused. I installed Sun App Server 9 Update 1 Patch 1 and successfully deployed some simple web services with it. Later I found sth that is called Web Services Developer Pack 2.0 but it can't use Sun App Server 9 as a container ... and requires the older version (8.1 as far as I can remember). Does it mean that JWSDP 2.0 is out of date ... and Sun App Serv 9 has bult-in web services implementation?
Please can anyone highlight me this subject?
    Thanks!
    Artur

ok ... just answering my own question ;)
    that's what I found on sun's website:
the Java Web Services Developer Pack will no longer be developed as a discrete release vehicle for the Web services and XML technologies that the Java WSDP shares with Project GlassFish.
The current release of Java Web Services Developer Pack, Version 2.0, contains the new JAX-WS 2.0 EA, JAXB 2.0 EA, and SAAJ 1.3 EA implementations, the "integrated stack" for Web services. These components are now available as FCS-quality releases in Project GlassFish.
as far as I know ... correct me if I'm wrong ... Sun App Server 9 is based on Proj Glassfish.

  • HT4623 What's the most-up-to-date version of Sprint's Carrier for iOS 6.1? Is it 14.0?

  • How do we fix an apple tv that thinks 4.3 is the most up to date software? I can't update to 4.4 / 4.4.1

Does anyone know what to do in order to force the update from 4.3 to 4.4?i have three machines and only one of the three made the update. The other two say they are up to date on 4.3.

I had the same problem but have just fixed it. You need a USB 2 to micro USB cable, connect aptv2 to your computer (no mains lead required) and launch itunes. (Check you have the latest version) Select Apple TV from the itunes device menu and hit 'restore'. This will restore factory settings whilst installing the latest (4.4.1) version of aptv software. Why it doesn't do this over wi-fi I have no idea. Anyway, airplay mirroring now working like a dream with the iPhone 4s, FINALLY!
    Hope this helps.

  • HT201299 I have a data plan, still I'm not able to rent a film with it, it tells me that I got to do it over a wifi connection, what is the purpose to have data plan it you can't use it?

I already enabled data plan to be used with iTunes, but it still tells me that it can only be used on a wifi connection

All iOS devices have a limit on the size of files they can download over cellular: 50 megs. Anything larger must be done over WiFi. This does not prevent you from using your cellar service for many other things (email, streaming music, downloading smaller files, web browsing) so, it's hardly useless.
