What's the opinion of Antares Microphone Modeler?

Has anyone used this plug-in and what is your experience? It seems like a neat idea to play with famous microphones as part of the recording process, especially the old Neuman's.

You are correct about the ventilation issue, in fact, all the doors are off his case, and he has an external fan blowing onto the unit. I was surprised though, that while tracking 14 inputs of drums at 24/88, his CPU tempurature was 30 degrees C. WIth a 7200 RPM 750 GB Seagate in my laptop, the lowest my computer EVER gets is about 43 degrees C, which for the extra 250GB of storage space, I am seriously reconsidering putting the 5400 RPM drive back in.
On the topic of heat, a friend of a friend here in Taiwan managed to rip out the DVD drive of his MacBookPro and replace it with an SSD drive to boot up off of, while leaving the harddrive intact.  I am curious to see how he did it!
Personally, I think building a hackintosh might make an interesting side project to attempt. Taiwan is an amazing place for computer componants...we have entire stores dedicated to issues like "cooling". Stuff I have never even seen before, or even know what it does!! Street after street of tiny shops full of technology. I joke about being able to buy a digital camera in a gumball machine.
The other thing that gets up my butt, is the fact that we are all SLAVES to Apple.
I like the idea of being able to buy a cheap Dell and run Mainstage, DP, Reason, Peak, Final Cut, and all of my other tools on an alternative product, rather than being forced into a relationship....a relationship I've been married to for 20 years!!

what is the worldwide supports iphone 5s models?

Currently, the only unlocked iPhone 5s sold by Apple is the T-Mobile phone which is shipped with an incactive T-Mobile SIM card which can be replaced with any standard GSM nano-SIM.
In addition to LTE incompatibility, if the carrier you use is not an official iPhone carrier, other iPhone features such as FaceTime, iMessage, Visual Voicemail may not work properly.

What is the most current MacBook Pro model that supports a native Matte screen?
I love Mac's but due to substantial eye strain with the glossy screens, I must use a Matte Screen laptop. Many thanks!

There are none in production at this time.  I suspect it was the 15" 2012 model.  I do know the 2011 15" and 17" MBPs had that option.

  • What is the latest OS and iMac model that would support CS2?

I'm trying to figure out how to go about selecting the "right" iMac to suit my current needs and means. Like many folks (I'm guessing), I don't have the money to upgrade every time a)apple comes out with ANOTHER new generation of iMac/OS b)Adobe comes out with updated versions of their software suites.
What I need to know is:
    1) Do the current iMac Intel CPU's (or the newest Mac OS) support software as old as Adobe CS 2?
    2) If the current iMac's no longer support my software, what is the most current generation of iMac's to do so?
    3) I would like to connect an additional monitor (I have an older 17" apple cinema display) to my iMac. Can anyone suggest iMac models that would accomodate my need?
    4) Any suggestions of reputable sellers of older generations of Apple products, new or refurbished? Any sellers that should be avoided?

    1) Yes and no. Yes CS2 will run on Intel based Macs but the performance may be a bit slower. The next problem is that Adobe does not fully support CS2 to run in Leopard. It will run but you might come across small glitches once in a while.
    2) To avoid the Leopard compatibility issue you would need an ALU iMac from 2007 or earlier that comes with OS X 10.4(Tiger).
    3) You would need to purchase two adapters. A mini DVI to DVI connector and the ADC Power adapter for the display which is about $100.

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8661LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjE0NTg4NA
    4) I would prefer an Apple certified refurbished iMac but they may not have one old enough for what you want.
If you don't have the money to upgrade everything including your software you might consider purchasing a used G5 tower. That way you can run Tiger and CS2 without any problems and still use your current LCD without having to buy any expensive adapters.

  • What's the limit on loading 3D models using WebGL?

I tried to load a very simple 3D cube model with CopperCube tool on Firefox (4.0 beta 4). Loading 1000 models are fine, after that it gets obviously slower. When loading 2000+ models, the Firefox window is frozen and I have to reboot the machine.
What's the limit on handling number of 3D models with Firefox?

    Hi Stefano,
this is because some datasources deliver a real delta in terms of changes of keyfigures. So they deliver the decrement or increment of the keyfigure and nothing else.
    e.g;
    Attribute1  Attribute2 Keyfigure1
xyz           abc          1000.00       "the original 'init' record
xyz           abc          -100.00        "the first change but the real value should be 900 now
xyz           abc          +200.00       "the second change, the real value should be 1100 now
If you set up the keyfigure in overwrite mode in this case, you will end up with 200 instead of 1100.
    best regards
    Siggi

  • What is the best way to maintain models with common components?

I work for a company that uses MatrixX/SystemBuild (v62.2) to build functional models of trains for use in driver training simulators.  We are currently in the early stages of a project in which we will need to build and maintain multiple train models which are likely to have some common components, but may have some significant differences.  Before we get too far into the modelling, I would like to come up with a decent method of maintaining the common components while keeping the differences separate.
Ideally, I would like to find a way of quickly and easily determining the difference between two models and a way of conditionally pushing the differences from one model to another - in a similar way that one might diff two text files and conditionally copy the changes in one to another.
I found a script (mx_62.2\sysbld\scripts\compare_catalogs.msc) that seems to accept two catalogs for comparison, outputing a difference log. However, I'm unsure how to use this as I don't know how to load two catalogs within the same instance of Xmath or how to assign a catalog to a variable for passing in to a function.  Does anyone know how to use this script?
I am also thinking that it might be useful to be able to convert a catalog to an xml - I can probably write a script to do this, however I am wondering if there's anything freely available to do this.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Let me first discuss about comparing models, then I'll talk about my ideas about modularization.
Comparing models in anything before v8 is difficult. In v6 or v7, there's no way to load to separate files containing the same yet different superblocks. The tool scripts you found don't seem to be documented anywhere. Given the history of some of the things added into the product, I'm not surprised. Which means that it's useless to us. After looking at the scripts, it's difficult to figure out what the inputs to that script should be. You can launch multiple instances of xmath/sysbld and load the models separately, but that's about it.
One suggestion if you have to compare models is to use the exportcatalog.msc script which will generate a text file containing the SBA commands to re-create the model. Do the same for both models then perform a text difference between the generated SBA commands in the generated files.
Another possibility is to use SBA to get the details of each superblock (similar to exportXXX.msc scripts) into a form that's easier to compare between. I'm going to guess that some kind of generated SBA content is the expected input to the compare_catalogs, but I'm not sure.
Now, within v8, we've created a hierarchical compare tool, that compares model files and shows differences. Copying changes between the compared models is a future enhancement. However, in the context of using v8, you could manually copying the changes between the models using the editor and/or project system as appropriate. Yes, in v8 you can separately load models containing the same named superblocks. Try it, I'll bet you'll like it and it will save you lots of time!
Now, on to modularization. I'm not sure you're use of 'components' is the meaning of the Components feature in Sysbld or not. I'm going to assume that you are not using Components and you're generically using the term components as a set of logically related superblocks, or as I perfer to call them, a module.
The only modularization tool you have in Sysbld is the file. What I mean here is that you are able to group sets of superblocks into separate savefiles (.sbd) then combine them to create a complete model. So, essentially, you will need to partition your model into modules and each module is a separate savefile. Then, you can choose which module (i.e. savefile) to load to construct a complete model.
In v8, there's a project system specifically designed to make this kind of modularization within a project easy and straightforward to use and maintain. I'd suggest that you use v8.
For previous versions, the best you can do is create xmath scripts for each complete model you need. The script will contain all of the steps needed to load the separate modules to make a complete model. Thus, you'd have a different script for each model. Also, becareful in v6,v7 that you'll have to manually manage which superblocks are part of which modules, it's tricky stuff. Again, you'll need to use scripts to help maintain this level of complexity in these versions of the Sysbld.
Now, I do not want to recommend FileSuperBlocks, it's a legacy feature to deal with limited resources not applicable on today's machines.
Also, I can't really recommend the the Component feature in Sysbld. It's really not a component, but more of an object, sort-of. And it sort-of gives you unique names and it sort-of gives you parameters. It will not help with the modularization I think you want so don't use these.
In general, there are features within our latest v8 release of MATRIXx that will help you with all of your issues. If you can, upgrade!

  • What is the correct term for MacBook models?

This may seem like a silly question, but I can never figure out the official answer. Where better to find it than here.
Ok, so I was wondering whether you capitalize the first letter of the "mid", "early", or "late" when saying something like:
"This is the MacBook Pro mid 2009" or is it "This is the MacBook Pro Mid 2009".
I would normally think to capitalize, but several Apple products have exceptions such as the "new iPad" and "iPad mini".

My go-to resource for Apple product details is Mactracker, and there, when  a Mac is identified by its year and time period of introduction, the Early, Mid, and Late are always capitalized. The iPad and new iPad aren't. The rational is, I suspect, that the new iPad will only be new until it isn't, but the MacBook Pro Mid 2009 will always be the Mid 2009 model no matter what comes after. Essentially, it's a permanent descriptive name whereas the new iPad is only a temporary state. Moreover, if you check Apple's support website, you'll see QuickStart guides for specific Macs using the same capitalization scheme.

  • What is the max HDD for my model iMac?

    Hi
I have a 2006 (last of the white plastic gen) iMac 24" 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo. Came with 1GB RAM, which I upgraded to the maximum possible of 3GB RAM.
It also came with a 250GB HDD which I would like to upgrade. I know Apple won't do this and I need to go to a reseller/partner, but I am getting conflicting messages about what is possible.
One says I can go to 2TB but another tells me that the maximum drive size I can put in is 750GB. Apart for the physical size of the drive, I can't see why there would be a limit to the size of drive I can install. Don't they all have the same interface, power consumption and heat output?
I would have thought that a 2TB drive from 2011 would be smaller than a 250GB drive from 2005/6.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Barbara
    I have two externals already:
    1. Lacie Rugged which I am using for Time Machine
    2. Lacie 4Big which houses my iTunes library
I think that I will move my iPhoto library to the Lacie 4Big which has about 200GB spare freeing up 175GB on my internal. If successful, I shouldn't need to replace the new internal. I was always a bit worried about moving stuff from the internal, which seems quite reliable. I have had 2 Maxtor drives fail on me in the past and lost much of my iTunes library. So when it comes to seven years and 23k+ of family photos I am very cautious.
The Lacie is built in RAID 5 so I hope I can fix it even in the event of a drive failure.
    Thanks

  • So...What's the difference? ( Apple TV Model #s)

Does anyone know what the difference between MB189C/A and MB189LL/A?? I cannot find anything... They are both Apple TV units with 160 GB hard drives. If you know the difference, please share!
    Branden

If user desires a particular firmware version number then that would be a difference. The original ATV had firmware 1.0 so if user did a factory reset even if user updated the firmware then the reset would revert back to 1.0 , that's important to some people since user cannot download any older firmware version other than what is current from Apple.

  • Idea for Chat Socket (whats the best maner to send model class?)

I Hava a server/client chat socket. Multitreading to recieve multi-conections. I have a model style class, like a Message, that you send this class for exemplo from Client to Server.
    Message Class
    * name as String
    * msg as String
I used ObjectStreams like ObjectOuputStream and ObjectInputStream to send and receive this object liked. But I need to serialize this model class to send it. Is the best maner to use Object Strams, or have another easy solution to send this class model??
    I demand ideas!
    Thanks all!

If you are communicating serializable objects between Java clients then sure, ObjectOutputStream & ObjectInputStream are a pretty easy way of doing that.
One downside is that OOS & OIS are difficult to use in non-Java programs. If you want interoperability with other languages you might communicate using e.g. CORBA, XML, or a protocol of your own design. Those require a bit more work and learning though.
