What's the replacement of CiscoWorks Internetwork Performance Monitor (IPM)?

Hi There
I am using a quite old tool - Ciscoworks IPM 2.5 with CWRW-1.3 in my teaching lab installed in 2004. IPM is good tool for network lab working with Cisco 3700 routers.  Now I am trying to find latest IPM version to upgrade the lab. I find that latest IPM is version 4.2 with Ciscoworks LAN management Solution 3.2 only. But this production is also  end-of-sale and end-of -support  see the page -http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/cloud-systems-management/ciscoworks-lan-management-solution-3-2/model.html
   - End-of-Sale Date:    08-APR-2011 Details
   - End-of-Support Date:    30-APR-2014 Details
Now I have no idea how to upgrade IPM? Which tool from Cisco or a third party can be replacement of IPM?

Dan,
IPM and LMS 3.2 are EOS/EOL. But the features are still available in the latest version of LMS, aka, Cisco prime LMS 4.2.
Cisco Prime LMS 4.x onwards the module specific approach was re-structured to feature centric menu, and hence Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 has all the required + enhanced IPM features.
You can upgrade to LMS 4.2, however, we encourage everyone to move to Cisco Prime Infrastructure, which is more future proof, as Marvin recommended.
IPM feature in Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 is known as Performance Management.

  • Internetwork performance Monitor (IPM) issue of CiscoWork LMS 2.5

I’m implementing IPM 2.6 module on Ciscoworks. To analysis ICMP traffic from Source to Destination, I have made 1 IP Echo entery of source & target, where source is RouterA serial IP & Target is RouterB Serial IP. Now if Normal Ping happens from Router A to B. Traffic analysis & delay displays at IPM. Now I move one another entry where Source Router A & Destination Router C Serial IP. Now Problem begins. Due to some policies, Router A can’t make normal Ping to C but extended ping happens for same but IPM can’t capture extended ping traffic & delay. It always show Request timed out. Now I’m stuck. It’s very necessary to resolve. Waiting..

  • What are the steps  needs to be perform to define a data model

What are the steps  needs to be perform to define a data model
    a.     Information Gathering
    b.     Hardware & Software
    c.     Structure the Information – MDM
    d.     Transfer into a Physical Model – BW data model
    e.     Explore use of existing model – Business Content

    Hi Siva,
Very first activity is Proof of concept (POC), here we have to show How BW works for clients Reporting requirement during POC we as BW consultants need to creat some sample BW back end objects and also some reports based on business requirement. This is very crucial stage as Client Judge wethere BW would meet his demands. If every thing is fine then next step is Bidding.
After Bidding the contract then actual Project intiates. from here we follow ASAP methodology.
    <u><b>
    Project Preparation</b></u>
Here Senior Consultant would go to Client place for Business Process Transistion and to know in what way the Architectue should be set up so here Basis People will come into picture.
    <u><b>Blue Print</b></u>
Transistion could be understood by BRD (Business Requirement Documents) BRD states what is exact requirement and it is given by End users.
By seeeing thr BRD's we as BW consultants must prepare APPlication Design Documents . The Application Design Documents states all the Technical aspects that needs to be performed as BW backend and also as well as Frontend.
    <u><b>Realization Phase</b></u>
Here as BW consultants we must start confuguring as mentioned in ADD's by taking care of all performance aspects, once all the configuration are done we do Unit testing. unit testing is an activity where we check all the design process wether it running correct or not. After unit testing we move the design objects to Qulaity for Integration Testing.
    <u><b>Testing</b></u>
Here end user will check all the objects, reports on end to end basis. after integration testing is done then UAT ( User acceptance Testing) would come into picture where user check each process and sign off.
    <u><b>Go live</b></u>
Here all the object will be moved to Production where end users and power users can start working on the system. intially for some days Development team would be taking care of all support activites there after  it will be transitoned to support team.
    Hope It helps you.
    Assign Points if it usefull

  • What will  the replacement be for the ipod nano 1st gen

Would like to know if anybody knows what will the replacement be? Also has anybody received it? I'm still waiting for the box will be 3rd week waiting.....thanks for any information

Apple appears to be replacing 1st generation nanos with the same product - 1st gen nanos. The only difference seems to be that the new ones do not have any personal engraving.
Be sure you stop using your old nano.
    Best of luck.

  • Internetwork Performance Monitor Broadcast Traffic

About a month ago we migrated out CiscoWorks server to VMware. Ever since we have had a significant amount of broadcast traffic coming from the server. We have noticed this as it is stopped by our firewall.
This traffic is broadcast on UDP port 44342 and 42342
There is also broadcast traffic to the subnet of the server on UDP port 137
From nbstat I can see that this traffic is coming from Internetwork Performance Monitor.
The traffic follows an interesting pattern in that for about 3 days after the server is rebooted it appears constantly then stops completely. After the next reboot the traffic appears again.
Is there anything that can be done to stop this traffic without stopping IPM from working?

After seeing the traffic hit our firewall I did a netstat on the Cisco Works server and found traffic on UDP ports 44342 & 42342 from the process osiagent.exe. Through services I traced this back to the Cisco Works services.
I have seen a post which says this is COBRA agent advertisement traffic. It this so?
If so what exactly is the role of the COBRA agent and can it be administered?

  • Internetwork Performance Monitor

    Hello Friends,
In LMS 4.0 Internetwork Performance monitor, when i try to configure collector configuration, in source devices only 2 switches are available i.e 6500 and 3560 but in Target devices i m able to see 32 devices what i have discovered in DCR,
Why that so,can anybody help me to understand such issue.
    Thanks

    Hello Dears,
    Manually Importing DCR Devices.
You can manually add devices to IPM by deselecting the Enable Auto Mode option and select the Apply button in the Internetwork Performance Monitor > Admin > Auto Allocation Settings page. Then go to Internetwork Performance Monitor > Collector Management > Devices and click Add Devices.
I m using LMS 4.0, the path above is not same in LMS 4.0 there is no Add devices tab to add devices manually but there is a Add Adhoc devices Tab which i can use to add devices manually??
when there is enable auto mode then why these devices are not imported in IPM automatically, Devices are imported by RME,CM,and also in DFM,but why not in IPM.As per the attachement in previous mail how come these 2 devices were imported in IPM.

  • What are the advantage of using a passive monitoring technique ?

What are the advantage of using a passive monitoring technique

    Hi Plawansai,
I saw your question that is still unanswered.
I believe an advantage of using a passive monitoring technique is that it won't interfer with live traffic, as it does not inject traffic into the network or modify the traffic that is already on the network.
One drawback anyway, is that post-processing time can take a large amount of time with passive monitoring!
A combination of the two monitoring methods seems to be the route to go.

  • What is the replacement for design view in in flex builder 4.7 for cs extension builder?

Because design view is not available in flash builder than what is the use of extension builder in UI designing now we have to do design UI with xml which is very time consuming and boring  if there is any replacemnt for it than please help me .1 more thing i want to know is that when i make new default project in extension builder(flash builder 4.6) than it also not able to load design mode errror is
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6\eclipse\plugins\com.adobe.cside.libsinstaller_2.0.0.4-33034\archive\cslibs\2.0\4.5\re lease\apedelta.swc- not respondingSWC file failed to load. Any component dependent on this SWC file will not be displayed in the Design Mode. The SWC may have failed to load because of:
    *  Incompatible definitions caused by usage of a different SDK version
    *  Missing referred class definitions

I have researched this quite considerably and my understanding is that Adobe have no intention of supporting Design View any more for Extension Builder.  In my opinion a very disappointing decision and one that is hard to comprehend.
The best workaround I can find is to create the majority of your design in a parallel, non Extension Builder, project and then convert/import your design into your Extension.  This is by no means as satisfactory as having Design View for the Extension you are writing but it is better than simply creating your layout by guess work/trial and error.
Although this has not been announced by Adobe, I have a suspicion that the reason they have decided not to put any further resources into fixing Design View is that Extension Builder as we know it is going to be abandoned soon, probably replaced with an HTML5/JavaScript method of building extensions.  My concern with this is that, other than wanting reassurances that there will be backward compatibility support for old extensions, There will not be a way of compiling an extension in a way that prevents people from seeing your code.
This is all speculation and I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.  Hope this has helped.

  • What are the Cleansing steps we can perform outside the DMU tool?

We need your advise on this
According to DMU documentation, There are three possible reasons for a value to have invalid binary representation in the database and their respective fixes using DMU tool
    a) An application stores binary values,
Fix: To cleanse the invalid binary representation issues for a column storing binary values, migrate the data type of the column to RAW or LONG RAW.
    b) An application stores character values in a pass-through configuration and the values are encoded in one or more character sets different from the database character set.
Fix: To identify the actual character set of data in the column, select the column in the Cleansing Editor and repeatedly change the selected value in the Character Set drop-down list, until all values in the column are legible.
    c) An application stores values that have some character codes corrupted due to software defects or hardware failures
Fix:To cleanse randomly corrupted values, edit and correct them in the Edit Data dialog box.
What are fixes we can perfmon outside of DMU tool for above issues and how?

Data cleansing is potentially one of the most time-consuming steps in the migration process depending on the data volume and the extent of data exceptions found. The DMU is designed to allow most of the cleansing actions to be performed prior to the conversion downtime window without impact to the production environment. You can choose to have the cleansing actions committed to the database immediately (immediate cleansing) or saved and executed later as part of the conversion phase (scheduled cleansing). Many of the cleansing actions may not be easy to accomplish outside of the DMU or could require significant manual workload otherwise. In your case, I think you have several options:
    1) Upgrade to a DMU-supported database release first and work on Unicode migration separately from the upgrade. This way you can leverage the DMU cleansing features to address most of the data issues beforehand and only deal with any incremental data issues in the migration downtime.
If you must do the upgrade and Unicode migration in the same downtime window:
    2) Prepare scripts for operations like enlarging column sizes or migrating column data types based on the latest iteration to speed up the process. Keep in mind you may still need extra work as the incremental data changes since the last iteration could affect the cleansing requirements. For invalid data issues, if they are caused by all data being stored in a character set different from the database character set, then set the assumed database character set instead of setting assumed character sets for individual columns.
    3) Use DMU and Streams setup to achieve near-zero downtime migration, see the page below for details:

  • What's the "replacement iPod"?

I was reading the page about iPod battery replacement & in the page I found that you can only change your battery by sending it to the Apple Customer Service along with 99 U.S. Dollars (only if there isn't a warranty on the iPod),
So I was wondering what they meant by the "replacement iPod" does it mean that when I send my iPod photo for battery replacement do I get my own device back (with the new battery) or a new iPod photo?
and if I receive a new iPod will the serial number be the same or a different serial?

    I bought a new U2 edition 20 GB I pod 13 months ago.
After 10 months I bought a apple care program.
At 13 months it stated freezing up.
I sent it in and got a refurbished.
    2 weeks same problem
Sent it in and got a 2nd replace.
Got it and ear phone jack was bad.
Sent it bad got a 3rd replacement.
2 weeks and the port conn dock got loose and now would make a good connections.
I am send it back in. I want to request a new unit.
    It that possible.
I am sick of all the issues with refurbished units.
    Please help.

  • So now that there is no more droid what is the replacement device for us?

now what phone do we get when we "accidently" break our phones....?

Yes, like many others, it has come & gone. But this fast ? As Iam sure you know, the Droid 2 is the replacement, which is on the way to replace my original Droid. Not that its needed. Just going to my Son. But to answer YOUR question, between the huge amount that "people try For 30 days" & end up trading them in or get a refund, all those virtually new phones go back in stock, not to be sold as new (so we would hope not), but used by Assurion Insurance for legit warranty replacements & purposes that your inquiring about.

  • What is the replacement method for preventDefault() on iOS?

Using preventDefault() in response to orientationChanging is a well-documented technique for preventing rotation on iOS. What is the recommended replacement method for this call when manually managing device rotation events?
From the release notes: preventDefault() is not honored for the ORIENTATION_CHANGING event on iOS. This is a behavior change from AIR 3.4 and will remain so. (3324338)

Auto-orientation has drastically changed in iOS 6. Some of the auto-orientation callbacks have been completely deprecated in iOS 6. This change affects the screen orientation API's in AIR too and support for the new callbacks have been added in AIR 3.5 beta release. The deprecated callbacks informed the application about the new orientation it was being rotated to. Hence, application could decide whether it wanted to rotate to the new orientation or not. However, the new callbacks do not give us such information. The application is only queried about what orientations are currently supported. If this value returned by the new callbacks matches the new orientation stage is being rotated to, the stage automatically rotates. Otherwise it does not. As a result of this limitation of the new callbacks, support from preventDefault() was deprecated on iOS in AIR 3.5(built with iOS 6 SDK). The application will still receive the ORIENTATION_CHANGING event. But calling preventDefault() inside the ORIENTATION_CHANGING event handler won't prevent the stage from being rotated to the new orientation. It is important to note that apps packaged with iOS 6 and running on iOS 5.1 devices or lower will also see this behavior change of not able to control auto orientation by using preventDefault(). This was done to make this change consistent across iOS devices.
