What's the state out of the box?

Got my board today. Going through the instructions at
https://ms-iot.github.io/content/SetupGalileo.htm and I'm confused. I try to apply the image to the SD card and am told that the card needs to be empty. Sure 'nuf looks like a full Windows install is sitting on it. Yet I'm being told in Setup to apply another
one - so what's on it?
I tried plugging it in to my PC via the Ethernet cable, etc, and the Galileo Watcher picks up nothing.
Following the instructions on Intel's site wants Arduino to be installed so the firmware can be updated - is this all accurate?
I get the feeling the Setup docs and How-Tos need some *serious* going over.
http://bc3te.ch/brandonh

The instructions seem fairly simple.
I'm not certain how you could be applying an image to an SD card and be told that the SD card needs to be empty when the instructions clearly state "Format the microSD card with the Fat32 file system" which would make the SD card empty.
And if the instructions are followed they probably work. I don't see anywhere in the instructions to use the microSD card OOB. Do you? Or is there some reason you feel the need to do that? Regardless of what the instructions say? Just because you have to
for no apparent reason? Or you cant plug the microSD card into your PC to see what the state of it is OOB?
Write Windows to the microSD card
Format the microSD card with the Fat32 file system.
Open an Administrative command prompt:
Open the Start screen
type cmd
right click or tap and hold on Command Prompt, then select
Run as Administrator
If you are running on Windows 7 please follow
these instructions before proceeding.
In the command window, type the following:

What is the box with the down arrow in the email.  it is at the top near the reply arrow.

OKAY....are you guys ready for the answer to this question: "What is the box with down arrow in it in my iPad email?".
This drove me nuts but I stuck with until I figured it out.
When you open a message in iPad, sometimes you'll see a box with a down arrow. Touch it...and your email disappears!!!
    Where does it go?
Lay down your iPad and go to your computer...you CANNOT access the Archive folder from your iPad!
    1) Go check your gmail account from your computer. When you click on a message, look in the top row of 'choices' in what to do with that emai: back to inbox, ARCHIVE(a box with a down arrow), report spam, delete, move to, labels, and more are your choices.
    2) now look in the left hand column and you'll see: Inbox, starred, Important, Sent Mail, Drafts, Notes, Personal, Travel...now mouse over Travel (or whatever your last item is in the column) and "More" will appear.
    3) Click on 'More' and "All Mail" will appear.
    4) Click on "All Mail" and voila!!! All of those messages that have been disappearing from your iPad are found there.
    5) NOW FINALLY, you can click on each message in the "All Mail" folder and you have the option to move them to any folder you wish.
    6) UNDERSTAND THIS: You CANNOT access the 'All Mail' folder from your iPad...you MUST use your computer.
Hope that helps all of you who were as frustrated as me.
Ya think Apple would write something about this somewhere!!

  • What is the BOXI 3 SP2 equivalent for ReportDocument and ParameterValues?

I need to convert code from BOXI to BOXI 3 SP2.
What is the BOXI 3 version of BOXI crystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument?
What is the BOXI 3 version of BOXI CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValues?
I'm a newbie in business objects, so any help would be appreciated.

The ReportDocument SDK hasn't undergone huge changes between XI and XI3.1. You should have the Developer edition of Crystal Reports 2008 installed on your dev machine, after the installation of Visual Studio. Apply the latest service pack (it's necessary to patch to at least SP1 if you want to do anything that hooks into Enterprise). Check your project references to make sure they're the right version (12.x). Recompile and see if you get any errors.

Anybody know what we'll get in the box in comparisson to what was in the US box

on the UK apple store this is listed as an accessorie. Why would it be an accessory if its in the box?
It is also an accessory at the U.S. Apple Store for those who want to purchase an additional plug adaptor such as for their office instead of having to move one back and forth between locations or for those who lose the one included with the box.
Apple pulled the plug adaptor or wall charger from which iPod?
Since every phone I've purchased or that has been provided to me at work has always included a wall charger but a vehicle charger has always been optional, Apple followed this in the U.S. The norm or standard for cell phone sales in the UK may be different though.
No one here knows and if not available at Apple's UK online store or via O2's website or provided with one of the online reviews for the iPhone to be released in the UK, you will need to wait until Friday at 6:00 PM or whenever the scheduled time is for the release.

  • Mail icons -  what is the "box with arrow" 3rd icon over?

    Hi,
When I am reading an email the 3rd icon on the bottom of the screen looks like a box with an arrow over it.  What is that icon?  When I click it the email seems to disappear.  Once in awhile I see the trashcan icon, but not usually?
    Thanks
    Joe

From your description, it could be the "print attachment" icon
    or "send photo" icon

While types a blank document on pages, there are "invisible" boxes at the top and bottom of each page, and they only appear when I scroll over them. Does anyone know what these boxes are, and how i can get rid of them from my paper?

Those are the Header and Footer spaces. You remove them using the Document Inspector. Uncheck the "Headers" and "Footers" checkboxes shown checked here:

  • What is the box in mail app between the move icon and reply icon?

    Hello,
Just started using mail in the new ipad and see an icon in the inbox on the left handside in between the move icon and the reply icon. What is it and what does it do to a file? I clicked an old email on it and it seemed to have stored it or did it delete it. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Do you mean the icons towards the top right-hand side of the Mail app ? Depending on what type of account it is it might be a trashcan for deleting an email, or if it's a Gmail account you may currently have it set to as an archive icon : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4207

    Hello BJ.
Although possibly not related to your problem, I will remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and usability. You can get it for free, as always, at [http://www.getfirefox.com getfirefox.com].
As for your problem, make sure Javascript is enabled: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/JavaScript#Enabling_and_disabling_JavaScript
But you may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  • How do I start over and bring my MacBook Pro to a brand new out of the box state?

I have a MacBook Pro with Retinal Display purchased in June 2012.  I have backed up once using Time Machine. How do I put it back to the brand new just purchased out of the box state? Any ideas?  I have done this with windows computers, but never a Mac.

To restore your MacBook to factory settings, you have to use Internet Recovery. Follow the steps:
    1. Press Command, Option and R keys while your Mac is starting, and open Disk Utility.
    2. Select Macintosh HD in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    3. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. This can take hours because your computer has to download OS X from the App Store.
After restoring the computer to factory settings, open App Store > Purchases to download iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand

  • What's the best out-of-the-box web interface for a SQL DB?

I'm developing a Java web application that will be backed by an Oracle database. Users would like a simple web interface that allows them to accomplish what they could with SQL queries without knowing SQL. The basic operations would be:
    * displaying a database table in a table format
    * downloading the table as a text or Excel file
    * customizing the columns in a table display
    * displaying a query result set in a table format
    * constructing a query using drop-down menus
I'd probably want to program in a simplified UI for a few common queries.
This really looks like functionality someone should have invented before me. Question: what is the right tool for me to be using? I'm surprised I haven't found something by searching.
It looks like I could just directly write JSP, but I think something else might be simpler. I think related functionality exists in Spring, but I didn't find exactly what I'm looking for, and Spring brings a lot of other stuff also. Nothing in my application is more complicated than this, so I'd be happy to keep things simple.

I wouldn't write it. I would just use Oracle's FREE Apex application which does all of that and more and is fully supported even on Oracle's FREE Express edition data database.

    About Application Express
Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX), formerly called HTML DB, is a fully supported "no-cost" option of the Oracle Database. Oracle Application Express is certified against all editions of the Oracle Database 10.2.0.3 and above, including Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Oracle XE).
Oracle Application Express installs as part of the seed database installation with Oracle Database 11g.

    Browser Based
Using only a Web browser and limited programming experience you can develop data centric applications in minutes. Browser-based development enables you to develop applications on most computers using only a modern Web browser.
    Rapid Application Development (RAD)
Use simple wizards and declarative programming to create powerful reporting and data entry applications. You can create applications from spreadsheet uploads, or on existing database tables and views. Oracle Application Express includes SQL Workshop to create and manage the database objects that support your application.
    Application Express Components
    Application Builder - Database Applications
Application developers use wizards to declaratively assemble applications organized in pages. Page content is organized into regions. Regions can contain text, custom PL/SQL, reports, charts, maps, calendars, web service references or forms. Forms are made up of fields (called items) which can be selected from the multitude of built-in types (such as text fields, text areas, radio groups, select lists, check boxes, date pickers, and popup list of values) or a developer can create their own types using plug-in support. Table update functionality is built-in and PL/SQL can be used to process data. Session state (or application context) is transparently managed and the user interface presentation is separated from the application logic so that the look and feel of an application can be changed simply by selected a different theme.
    Application Builder - Websheets
Using Websheet Applications, end users can manage structured and unstructured data without developer assistance. Page sections contain unstructured data and are edited using a WYSIWYG editor. Reports provide access to database data by writing SQL. Data Grids can manage structured data without writing SQL. Adding columns, renaming column, and validations are defined using runtime dialogs. Each page and row of data grid data can be annotated with files, tags, notes, and links. Pages can contain sections as well as reports and data grids and all can be linked together providing navigation. All information is searchable and completely controlled by the end-user.
    SQL Workshop
The SQL Workshop provides tools that enable you to view and manage database objects. Object Browser enables you to use a tree control to view object properties and create new objects. The SQL Command tool enables you to enter ad-hoc SQL. Query Builder enables you to create join queries using drag and drop. SQL Scripts enables you to store and run scripts. The Data Workshop enables you to load and unload text, DML, and spreadsheet data.
    RESTful Services
RESTful Services allow for the declarative specification of RESTful services mapped to SQL and PL/SQL.
    Team Development
Team Development helps manage the life-cycle of an application's development. It provides tracking and management of application features, to do entries, bugs, and end user feedback. Team Development is tightly integrated with the Oracle Application Express Application Builder. For example, edit page lists open feedback, bugs, and to do's.
    Administration
Each Oracle Application Express workspace is a separate application development environment that is fully insulated from other workspaces. The administration component provides workspace management, including services (available schemas, space requests, and preferences), users (both developers and end-users), and workspace activity (page views, login attempts, and developer activity). Access is limited to Oracle Application Express developers who have workspace administration privileges.

  • How do I return my MB Pro to it's "out of the box" state?

I have a MB Pro 15". I just got a new one yesterday, and my new co-worker will be getting this one. There is nothing we need to keep, so a backup won't be necessary. How do I go about deleting/reseting everything to it's original out-of-the box state, and make his the new admin, etc?
    Thanks!

Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.
