What's this blue dot that engages Exposé?

I don't recall this dot ever appearing on any other user desktop, but suddenly yesterday I logged in as root and there it is. It seems to engage Exposé (showing windows of whatever application I'm focused on)
It's interesting but I didn't even see an option in the system preferences for it and maybe I'd want to turn it on for my normal user.
Here's a screencap:

Thanks

It's called the Blob. See Exposé (Mac OS X) . See Expose the Exposé Blob to learn how to disable it.

  • What is the blue dot right next to the signal bars?

I know E means Edge. 3G is 3G network. But what is the blue dot means?
Also what is UMTS/HSDPA? When do I know I am using that connection?
    Thanks,

GPRS = General Packet Radio Service (could be called 2.5G)
Also what is UMTS/HSDPA? When do I know I am using that connection?
UTMS = Universal Telecommunications Mobile System (commonly called 3G)
HSDPA = High speed download Packet access (commonly called 3.5G)
    Thanks,
The Blue dot is GPRS, the E is edge while 3G is 3G and HSDPA is the highest data speed, for some reason Apple do not show an icon when this is being used, some other manufacturers indicate when 3.5G is being used.

  • What is this black dot on the side of my MacBook Pro? What is it for? How do I get to it?

I have a MacBook Pro (2011 Model & 13") and I was wondering . . . What is this black dot on the side of my MacBook Pro? What is it for and how do I get to it?
P.S.  I feel stupid asking this question  . . ..  . because I know those who answer will know exactly about it and what to do with it . .

To be honest when I first got it, I thought I broke that hole . . . see I assumed it was a button to eject the CD slot, and I managed to either push it in deep enough, or smash it off. . .. .  I once got a tooth pick and fiddled around in there in atempt to find something. . ..

  • What does the blue dot under some apps mean

what does the blue dot under some apps on the ipad air 2 mean.  There are not dots under all the apps.

They are indeed recently updated apps that have not been used since they were updated. As soon as you launch the app after updating, the blue dot will disappear.

  • What do the blue dots beside the addresses used in the messages address  and how did they get there?

What do the blue dots next to the addresses in the address book used to address (TO) someone mean and how did they get there.  I unsuccessfully tried to use an email address, the message address line kept giving me a red "hand slap"with an ! Point.

The blue dots mean the addressee has a device capable of using iMessage.
Try using the phone number instead of the email address to send the message.

Think the iTunes artwork playlist is for a new screensave they put in where if you click the album artwork it plays the song.

  • Why are there little blue dots that appear next to my movies?

There are little blue dots that appear next to the movies that i have started to download.  Also i just started to download a movie, and i am not sure if it is even downloading.  Please Help!

The blue dot just means its new (meaning you havent watched it yet).  You should see the same blue dots next to Text Messages and Emails that you have not read.
You can check your current downloads in the iTunes Store App > Tap more in the bottom right > Tap Downloads.

  • What does the Blue Dot signify ?

When doing a search, I have an IP address (but no login details yet) and have added it and I see a Blue Dot in the first column.
I can not find out what this signifies, can someone enlighten me ?
Yes I did do a search in the forum - maybe with wrong criteria !
    Thanks

So I have some kind of connection or "handshake" or it's just in the list and I may not be able to get to it at all ?

  • What is this  mobilebackup volume that just appeared?

I just noticed a new volume, Mobilebackup. I appears to be a few days old, and appears to have the same kind of files that Time Machine does. It has backup files of two volumes (of four), and has one folder for the first day, and varying numbers of folders thereafter.

  • What is this extra cable that comes with MBP?

I just got my MBP today and it came with two AC cables. One is the magsafe whcih is what i;m already using, but it also came with another cord. this one is a lot thicker and it is 3-prong. what is this for? i can't find a slot on the magsafe of the MBP that apparently fits it. thanks

hey, i think that it is the extension for the magsafe adapter, if you grab the part of the magsafe where it plugs into the wall you should be able to slide it off with a little force, you can then slide the extension on and it will be much longer. hope that helps!
