What's this 'Zoom' feature in Safari?

I was wondering what exactly do you do with this 'Zoom' feature in Safari 3.1.1. When I hit 'Zoom' the window just resizes. But I don't think anything gets zoomed in. So, what's this feature for? How to get this thing working?

Oddly enough, I just tried that, and all it did was to make the page bigger, but it also 'zoomed' in to your posting, in much the same way as clicking on the green button does. I suspect that it's tool that enables us to go to a particular part of a page (such as the postings in these forums) rather than have to scroll through them. I've also discovered, that to click on minimise sends the page to the dock, so you would do better to click on the green button to restore the page to a more workable size, or to the window size before you clicked on Zoom.

What is this hidden "feature" in mobile Safari for and how can I use it?

OK, one day, like any geek would, I was in the car messing with my iPod touch. I was playing in Safari, typing in email addresses and such to get the exciting "WARNING - PHISHING SITE" screen. So I then tried typing "/" into the address bar, and when I hit "go", something interesting happened. The "/" changed to "file:///", and it tried to load it, but then popped up with an error message that said "This page could not be opened because it is a local file". Now I'm not new to the "file:///" thing, and I've used it to access folders using Chrome that Explorer wasn't showing for some reason. So, what if that tag used for? Obviously Apple has a use for it somehow since they included a little shortcut to get to it. I'll post some screenshots below so you can see what everything looks like:

That is a shortcut for opening a file locally stored on the iPod. This is not really useful since iOS does not permit such access to its file sustem.

What is this element/feature?

Hi all,
What is the “Format 0” box above? Not asking specifics, but generalities. When you click on it, it expands like below. I would like to make CPHA an input to this function (i.e. provided from the front panel). Haven’t run across something like this before, so wondering if somone could provide some pointers on where to look. This is NI provided example code that I am modifying, specifically the DAQmx SPI code. Thanks!

NO. you cannot change the polymorphic selector from the Front panel.
A polymorphic vi is a set of closely related vi's called instance vis (they all have the same connector panes although the datatype may differ). they assist the developer by easilly replacing one type of function with another similar function but the specific instance vi must be determined and in memory at compile time and cannot change at run time. If there were a way to change the instance vi selection from the FP the block diagram code would change at run time and that is not allowed.
That being said: there are ways to dynamically dispatch a vi (choose the vi to run programatically) but, not by using polymorphism as LabVIEW implements polymorphism. Is there a need for your application to do this? we' can point you in that direction but, there are some more advanced LabVIEW features to master to achieve this behavior.

HTML5 Zoom Feature Problem on Safari iOS iDevices?

I am building my own website in HTML5. If you have an iPhone (I use a 4S) you can check it out here: http://bigapplephototours.com/html5/
When the website is first loaded up in portrait mode, the website fits nice and neat within the iPhones dimensions (if small). When you turn the iPhone to landscape mode, the website fills in this space nicely too.
The problem happens when you turn the iPhone back into portrait mode. Using Safari, the website automatically zooms in and you can't see most of of the website. When you turn the phone, yet again, to landscape mode, the website stays in zoom mode. I don't want this.
I only want the zooming feature in Safari to work when the screen is tapped. Check out http://www.apple.com and http://www.neonsky.com. These are two websites, when viewed with Safari on the iPhone, that stay unzoomed.
Can someone please provide me with the correct HTML5 code that will fix this problem? So far, my google searches have yielded several other people with the same coding problem. Every fix I have tried has not worked. Please, if you know how to fix this problem, would you please give me a detailed coding fix?

Safari has added this stupid feature to bookmarks called cover flow and it covers up my list of bookmarks so I cannot edit/rearrange them. How do I get rid of the black, useless space in bookmarks, bring back bookmarks manager?

How do I get rid of this annoying feature in Safari known as cover flow which appears as a balck void in bookmarks? the bookmarks manager is nowhere to be found and now I'm going to Google instead of Safari.

Move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the black area.
Mouse pointer should turn into a hand pointer.
Double click.
The Cover Flow should shrink into small black strip at the top.
To revert back, move the mouse pointer to the black strip at the top.
When the pointer turns into a hand pointer, double click.

How can I customize Tile Page (what's this page) to cycle on a folder?

I love how the Tile Page ("what's this page") feature looks. But I rarely use it because it auto-populates with URLs (most visited or recent) I already have sorted in my bookmarks under folders and in the Bookmark Toolbar. I don't need a screen shot of the gmail login screen.
What I really need, and what this feature would be brilliant for, is to cycle through the heaps and mounds of random URLs I have in my Unsorted Bookmarks folder. I just timed it and it takes me 18 seconds to scroll from top to bottom.
I would like to have this folder of Unsorted Bookmarks populate the Tile Page, [1][2] so I can sort through them visually.
[1]: Even better would be a text field on this page where I could enter keywords!
[2]: Even better still, to have this page split between web page screen shots and pills of my favorite and most recent keywords which I can click on to filter this auto population.)

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization. With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options. If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast. I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why? How is this making it a better program? I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was). But to not give users the option to delete that list? It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating. I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature. It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway? There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions. Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution. I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.

Why is my zoom feature not working in Safari?

Last week when I used the zoom feature on the internet, it made the whole page larger and magnified everything. Now when I zoom, it only makes the text bigger but leaves everything else the same, thus resulting in a very distorted picture. The help feature is telling me to "zoom all", but it does the exact same thing.
I haven't changed anything in my settings so not sure what's happened. If anyone knows how to fix this, that would be great. Thanks.

Thank you. I was clicking on the other options for zoom but it wasn't allowing me to select them. I tried clicking directly on the arrow and it allowed me to "deselect" the Zoom Text Only option. Cheers!

The domain by domain automatic save for the zoom feature in Firefox has stopped working with Facebook, is there anything I can do about this?

I normaly use the zoom feature with Facebook in order to more easily be able to read and see. I like how the entire page zooms in. Recently, however, the zoom started reseting every time i click myself from any page on Facebook to any other. The zoom simply won't save at all, it just resets to the default value.

I have had exactly the same problem now with two mini iPads. Everything was tried; 1) restarting; 2) restoring factory settings etc. NONE worked. Eventually Apple agreed to replace it. I have had the replacement now for two to three months and exactly the same thing is happening again. So off to Apple tomorrow to get another replacement.
I am quite a heavy user of the iPad so wonder if this is something to do with the fault.
It is so frustrating as sometimes reset works, and then after 10/20/30/40 minutes (you pick) it goes unstable again.

A misleading and malicious popup. Launch Safari with the Shift key held down; if that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.
