Every day it seems like there are more of these posts where people ask wide-open theoretical questions like "What's the difference between interfaces and abstract classes? Please give examples." Is someone telling all these people to bring their questions here, as if we were the Java equivalent of CliffsNotes?

I'm imagining a fly-by-night diploma mill where they take the students' money, then hand them a list of questions and the URL's of a bunch of programming-related discussion forums, then usher them out with a slap on the back and a hearty "Good luck!" If that's the case, maybe I'll set up my own diploma mill where I charge even more money for teaching them the rudiments of Google searching. That way, at least they would learn something useful.

What is up with all the apps freezing on my iphone 5??
Several of my apps are freezing and/or crashing on start up.
I've deleted and reinstalled, synced, closed and re-opened.
I'm not the only iphone user having this issue either.
What's up with this.Assuming your iPhone is not jailbroken, your RAM is probably fragmented. Double-press the HOME button and close all of the apps by flicking up on the screen image. When they are all closed reboot the phone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't fix it Restore your phone using iTunes. -
What to do with all the disks left on my computer after application install
I have been using the Mac for a year now (very happy overall), but am still a bit confused by what exactly the whole disk icon left over after an install is about. And then what about the .dmg and .pkg scene?
After I install a new application I have the icon of a disk with their name under it left on my desktop. It appears as a drive or partition would. Do I want to save these in case I need to re-install at some point? Can I burn them onto a CD or DVD?
I can drag .dmg files to a folder to store them, but not the disk icon's.
And why do some app's give you .dmg or .pkg files to open and others automatically put the little disk icon?
Thanks for any help in clearing this up for me.The "disk icons" that appear when you double click a .dmg file can simply be "ejected" or "unmounted" by dragging them to the trash which will transform into an eject icon just like the one you see when you eject any other mounted volume (a CD, DVD, USB drive, etc.). The .dmg file itself should be saved for future use (if you need to re-install or access the files contained therein). Also, if the .dmg file contains anything you paid for, you will also have some sort of "key code" that should be saved along with the .dmg file. Where and how you save these are up to you. Once you have extracted the files from the .dmg and copied them to some location on your HD (the Applications folder for example) moving the .dmg file will have no effect.

What is up with all the gb's of "other" on my hard-drive, and how to get rid of it??
when i look at the overview of my hard-drives (i have 3, tb-sized internal hard-drives installed into my 2008 macpro) i see a lot of "other" in yellow.
anyone know what that is and how to remedy? it seems to me that a few hundred gigs of "other" is suspicious.

I recently uploaded OSX 10.6.7 and ever since then, my Boris titler in FCP does not work with all the fonts, notably Avenir. It actually crashes FCP now. It was fine with the previous version. What's up Apple?
I know what your'e going through, Gary. OSX 10.6.7 is an absolute disaster. Since I upgraded, I've had problems in FCP, Logic, Garageband, even issue dealing with peripheral hardware like external monitors.
Before 10.6.7 my system was running fine.
I've brought this up with Apple repeatedly. They smile and shrug. They've been helpful resolving the issues, but none of them has been easy to solve. I have spent days, dealing back and forth with tech support, sending logs, etc., before solutions have been found.
I wish I could give you an answer to your question. My only guess is that Apple has totally dropped the ball on this one. In the future they should provide a disclaimer when they offer an upgrade. Something like: "Caution: all of your software may not function after this upgrade. But go ahead, you'll feel cool that your OS is the latest thing."
As someone who has been with Apple for close to 25 years, I'm disturbed by what appears to be an increasing sloppiness in their work. This is especially disturbing when you depend upon their system to make your living.

Hello Anybody, I have a question. Can any of you please suggest me how to make an xml file from the database table with all the records?
Note:- I am having the XSD Schema file and the resulted XML file should be in that XSD format only.The Oracle documentation has a good overview of the options available

Without knowing your version, I just picked 11.2, so you made need to look for that chapter in the documentation for your version to find applicable information.

Have you tried using it for purchase with customer service over the phone. I have used gift cards to pay part of my bill through the phone or online.

Sorry to say your installation must have been unsuccessful.
A normal installation would not do this.
Uninstall, run the cleanscript* and try again (maybe your AV is too agressive).

Now the bad news. In my "Print to Video" pop up, if
I select "Color Bars" , "Black", or any other option
and take out my bars and tone and slug from the
timeline, the print to video does not print anything
to tape except for a nice nothing blue. I don't
even get my actual timeline video printed to tape.

You are a genius! Man do I feel silly. So just for the benefit of others who might read this post, I did exactly as you said, and of course when I restarted FCP, I had to identify my Firewire NTSC setting for the drive. This time, instead of leaving my tapedrive offline, I left it on and immediately saw on my drive monitor the video coming off of my timeline.
Every thing works perfect. I now have a clean timeline with just the content I'm working on and don't have to worry about bars, slugs, post black. Just a few checkboxes and I'm ready to send my tapes off. Really nice feature.

What's with all the indie games
so lately ive noticed that most all the free games on ps+ have become indie games while they used to be high quality shooters like crysis and they had theif but now they had a game called unfinished swan and it was terrible they should have called it unfinished game but i think the reason for this is because ps4 users have to have ps+ to play online and while thats fine because they have to pay for servers and other stuff like that and its only fair to give back. i feel lucky i bought a ps3 instead of an xbox because the online was free. but i mean we pay millions to ps+ now, weve done our part now sony needs to stop holding us hostage to ps+ or pay us back in some other way than these crappy indie games there giving us now

There are half a dozen presets or you can save and recall your own custom settings. -
We wish to keep a spare computer loaded with all the required editing software ready to swap out if we have a hardware issues. What can we do about licensing, can users hot desk to it? We have about 10 users with various software packages loaded on their current machines. Currently if one goes wrong we have no backup.
You will need to check the licensing requirements for the various software & operating systems that you use.
A much simpler way will be to make a clone of each machines hard disk drives on seperate external bootable drives using Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper. You can then keep a couple of blank machines and boot from the an external drive in an emergency and carry on working. At the end of the work day you can then restore the clone to the internal hard drive of the affected machine, and leave it to run over night to complete the restore.
This method would probably be the cheapest way to implement a disaster recovery option as you will not need to pay for new licenses or 10 new machines.
Just make sure that each machine has an external HDD attached and a regular clone being made on a schedule, this way you will always have an up to date clone to work from.
There are many ways to acheive what you require, NAS etc.

Whats with all the batmobile ar?
Right playing through batman and the story is excellent but whats with all the batmobile missions? really annoying me one of the reasons i love the batman games so much is the hard challenge of doing the combat and the predator modes but they seem to be extint from hthis version apart from 4 of each and it is way to easy ive only unlocked 3 on each and 3 stared them in about 5 minutes. But its really annoying me the fact that rocksteady have made loads of missions for the batmobile which is doing my head in if i wanted to play a racing game with loads of gun fire and explosions i would have bought need for speed or something i feel really let down by rocksteady I want to stalk my prey from the rafters or test my combat skill getting my combo up as high as possible not drive round in an uncontrollable brick that if you get through anything its due to luck. last riddler trial springs to mind bloody car.
I was looking forward to the inclusion of the batmobile but I have to admit the controls are so wrong! I wouldn't mind so many batmobile missions or use of if the control of it was good. The 1st chase sequence in the story I was all over the place. The main problem is brake is square & any racer knows its L2 so I can't help it in certain quick scenarios. I do like the actual batmobile being in the game mind. I would of been happy just to cruise around in it but you got to give credit where they have tried to include a lot more to it. I'm really enjoying the game!

When I bought my ipad 2 a few years ago there was a feature so that I could record reminders. But with all the updates, this feature is now gone. What happened to it? Also, on my iphone and imac, I can dictate and it types for me. I thought I had this feature on the ipad too, but can't find it. Does it not exist for the ipad 2 or do I have to download an app?
