What's up with my itunes screen?

I have ipad3, the latest itunes software and iOS6.  My iTunes screen does not look like any of the pictures I see online or in books.  It does not have the left panel (LIBRARY, STORE, DEVICES,GENIUS, PLAYLISTS Etc).  I cannot find the tabs along the top  E.g. Summary, Info, Apps etc).  Can someone please advise where to find and use these?

Launch iTunes on your computer. Then from the menu at the top of the screen go to View>Show Sidebar. Once you bring the sidebar into view, you will see all of the things that you cannot see now.

  • I too had the same vertical white line in the centre of the screen last night after having my iPhone 5 up and running for 10 days. I managed to turn it off by holding the buttons in and it came up with the iTunes screen....2 hours later it came good?

I was talking outside on my iPhone 5 in a fairly humid environment (The Pilbara in January, 2014) then when the call was finished I hung up (as I was walking back inside to the air-conditioning) this white vertical line appeared in the centre of the screen and wouldn't go away. I couldn't use it NOR could I accept calls. (I called my number from my other phone). I eventually managed to turn it off after removing the protective casing (Otter Box) and then it came up with the white cord / iTunes screen........I left it for a while...it turned back on BUT is still had a flickering screen.......I re-charged it and I have backed it up this morning (at work) on iTunes and it seems to be working 'fine.' All I can say is 'DO NOT GET RID OF YOUR SAMSUNG GALAXY PHONE IF YOU HAVE ONE!' I haven't had an OUNCE of trouble with it and have owned it for at least 3 years. The iPhone has been up and 'running' since the 6th of January, 2014. This happened on the 15th of January, 2014.

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • What to do with phoney iTunes gift cert Zip File? (After I opened it)

I foolishly opened the Zip file that came along with an email claiming to be an iTunes gift certificate (iT6561.zip).
I trashed the attachment, and emptied the trash. when I recognized my mistake. But, because i opened it first, I'm worried the next time I open iTunes, my iTunes account information will be stolen.
How do I get rid of the, now unzipped file that is lurking around in my system? (A spotlight search doesn't locate it). How do protect my iTunes account info next ime I open iTunes?
If this should be in a different discussio, please let me know where it should.
    Any help is appreciated.

The tunes that are on the desk top - will they play in iTunes without moving them OR do you get the (!)?
The thing to be aware of it that the iTunes Library and the iTunes Music Library.xml are what keeps track things for iTunes and other apps. These files by default are in HD>user>User Account>Music>iTunes. If they get moved then iTunes will create 2 new files and all you old info is gone.
If you are getting the you can try to put the tunes that are on the desktop back into the iTunes Music folder and see if iTunes will find them again.
If not, then you need to add those tunes that are on the desktop - but not in library. Once ALL the tunes are in one place then you should be able to delete the extras.
Don't delete the purchased tunes without having a backup of those tunes. iTMS is clear about the download policy. It is a one time download.

  • Late sleep on MacBook Air, it must be the very long list of history in repair permission that how many times I repair it, when it's done, I do it again, suddenly it's a long list again, all about iTunes. So what's wrong with this iTunes 11.10.

I predict something is going wrong because of the list history in verify permission disk. after I repair them for a few second , I do it again and also found that long list again..They are all about iTunes. So what's wrong with it. Thanks.

As long as the report ends up with 'Permissions repair complete' then, as far as permissions go, you are fine. You can ignore the various statements in the report:
Permissions you can ignore on 10.5 onwards:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
Using 'should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r--' as an example, you will see the that the permissions are not changed, but the | indicates a different location. This is because an update to Leopard onwards changed the location of a number of system components.
Poster rccharles has provided this description of what it all means:
    drwxrwxrwx
    d = directory
    r = read
    w = write
    x = executeable program

  • What to do with extra itunes folder after transfer

I just tranferred my itunes library from my old pc to my new mac using my ipod as a hard drive. I followed the directions apple gives on it's website (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173).
I already had a bit of music on my new computer so i had to consilidate this library and transfer it to the desktop like the website says. I also added this folder back to my library.
The problem is now what do i do with my itunes folder sitting on my desktop (the one with the songs that were already on my new computer)? The website does not say. I do not want to delete it because the songs in this folder are not in the itunes folder that is now in my music folder (the itunes folder i transferred over).
    Thanks.

  • Can't Update my itouch into higher software version unless using another computer. What is wrong with my itunes?

I have itouch 2nd Gen, 8GB with software version 3.1.3 and itunes 10.3.1 (the latest). I know that the farthest software for 2nd gen itouch is 4.2.1, right? BUT everytime i try to check for updates on i tunes, it would always state that it is the latest version. Before, it used to be 1.3.1 (or so. Can't remember) and it insisted that was the latest version until I connected it to a friends computer and voluntarily updated itself to 3.1.3. I'm torn now because I want to know what the **** is wrong with my itunes. I've restored multiple times, still, it won't upgrade. I EVEN HAD MY WHOLE LAPTOP FORMATTED, and still, failed. Please help me out!:(

Are you really sure that you have a 2G iPod?  From what is happening it appears that you have a 1G iPod that canonly go to 3.1.3,  Check here:

  • What's wrong with the iTunes app updates?

The last days the app update is behaving very strange. One moment there are no updates, then suddenly there are 8 but iTunes cannot find them. And at this moment, there are 41 updates being downloaded while 5 minutes ago there were none. What's going one?

I'm having the same problem.  I even tried updating through my computer with no success.

  • What is wrong with my login screen?

Hello. I have a imac running with leopard. Today when i turned it on it went to its login screen then started violently shaking and saying something about typing in the master password.  It has never done this and you cannot ype anything. Does anyone know what i could be and how i could fix it?  Thanks

The shaking indicates the wrong password has been typed in. Type in the correct password and it will run fine.

  • What is wrong with my macbook screen?

For the last year I have been dealing with a screen that keeps going dark.  If I tilt my screen down and back up it turns back on but if I open it too far it turns off.  Then I will use it for a little while and it will go dark again, repeat.  All day long I am wiggling my screen around trying to find the sweet spot so it will stay on.  Anyone know whats wrong with it?  Where should I take it?

I read some other posts where people were having the same issue, and apparently they took it to an apple store and it was fixed for only $45. That's actually not a bad price if you ask me, and I might end up doing that since my screen is just so bad.

  • What is wrong with my unlit screen?

I have a 2009 MacBook and recently I have not been able to adjust the brightness all the way. When I try to adjust the brightness more than the second level (square), the screen will turn almost completely black. However, if I hold my laptop close to a light source (ie a lamp), I can barely see screen (ie my desktop) that I was looking at. Also, I start up my MacBook with full brightness, that screen will immediately go to black (and I can barely make out the background). Could my problem be the backlight and what's the best way to address your diagnosis? Thank you.

You may attach an external display, if you have the correct video display adapter for
an available display, to check and see if the graphic card is working correctly; as
that is one way to tell if a problem is limited to the internal one.
The inverter, backlight, and other parts play roles on the ability of the display to function
so there maybe a bad cable, inverter or other parts. The backlight was a cold fluorescent
type prior to the later LED backlight; however the backlight uses a separate circuit for
the light power, than that of the information displayed that you may see by shining a
light into the dysfunctional panel... When you see an image there, it is only part of it.
But that means the panel itself may not be shot.
There are some fairly helpful repair guides online, one source of pictures and info is
the iFixit.com site where they have various guides, plus a pile of Apple Mac guides.
An expert could diagnose it, and prescribe a cure, along with an estimated cost.
You may find, depending on how far you want to go, the estimates can vary some.
A portable computer is good in that you can send it away. If you don't have anyone
nearby to do the work, there are some at distance who only repair Apple portables.
I'd had good results with wegenermedia, but checked beforehand, some years ago.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What's wrong with my iMac screen?

It just happened this morning when I woke up, this iMac is only few months old. And I did nothing last night, just edited some photos and watch The Walking Dead with VLC app as usual. Then I fell asleep and these lines just came up in the morning. What is this, is there anything I can do to fix this without bringing it to apple service? If I have to bring it to apple service, is it covered by the warranty?
    Please help.
    Thank you.

If your 90 day free AppleCare telephone support hasn't expired or you have purchase AppleCare then give them a call. If you don't have AppleCare (HIGHLY recommended) then you will need to schlep the machine into an Apple Store to have it looked at by a professional, it is covered by the 1 year warranty. The lines our describing are not visible in your screen shoot so I'll assume they are very fine.
Before you do anything though do some basics such as restarting the machine and resetting the PRAM.

  • What is it with this white screen??

Today, for the first time, when I click on some, not all, of my new Raw images I get a white screen. As far as I know I have changed nothing. The only way I have found to recover is to remove all adjustments and start over. However when I do it repeats. Does anyone know what is going on and what I may, however inadvertently, done to cause it? Please help?
    Eugene

Do a search through the forum and you will find that something similar to this has been a common affliction. The relaunching of Aperture usually resolves the issue, however if it does not as you have experienced...
Potentially an error within the Aperture database.
Ensure you have backed up the library.
no guarantees but the basic maintenance steps may help.
Run your system maintenance using Disk utility on your system and data HDD's
Launch Aperture holding down the command option key, you are presented with two options, run one then the other. This will correct any permissions errors or database glitches.
    Hopefully this helps.
