What's up with Oracle beehive?

I have seen bugs, notes and documentation about Oracle Beehive at Metalink.
An example, the Release 1 (Beta) Documentation at:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/cs/beehive-betagroup-users/docs/welcome.html
Some questions:
Is this the evolution of OCS? or it would be another product?
Will be easy to migrate from OCS to beehive?
How to be a beta tester or have access to beta releases? I asc our comercial contact at Spain and get no answer.
There is some Official date of beehive release 1 will be here?
Thanks.

Hi Thomas,
Can I ask you to clarify "64-bit ready", especially if you have concerns? Certainly OCS ships on a number of 64-bit architectures (solaris sparc, hp-ux risc etc.) and was certified to run on 32b Linux OS on 64b (EM64T/AMD64) hardware - and I believe also certified to run in a 32b shell on 64b Linux on x64 hardware.
As you are probably aware, the 10g line of application server (on which OCS was based) was not certified on x64 linux or x64 windows which was a big part of the lack of x64 certification of OCS.
That said, I'm not sure whether the garbage collection times would have been acceptable on an oc4j with multi-gb heap sizes anyway so the 64b memory addressing may not have been particularly an advantage.
Look forward to hearing your concerns & comments.
regards,
Richard

  • What's wrong with Oracle EBS

    Ladies and Gentlemen:
It has been a little over a year since I started struggling with EBS. I have tried it on Windows XP and I have tried it with Linux. It is my humble conclusion that Oracle EBS is a sub-standard program that works only half of the time. I do not know how customers tolerate this useless system. The only thing that is good about Oracle is that it has created a lot of employment opportunities for a lot of sub-standard DBAs and developers who would otherwise be unemployable. The only reason Oracle got successful, in my opinion, is due to the fact that it is the only company selling a product to mid-range enterprises.
Unbreakable linux is another joke oracle plays on its customers. I do not know why people tolerate a program that does not always work unless you keep chasing those rpms all over the web to complete a task. and those rpms (who knows how to install them) are written by aspiring programmers who do not do a good job, some other aspiring programmer has to finish the job for them by writing another God-forsaken RPM. I installed OEL4.7, it does not even recognize my network cards or any of my plug and play devices ( forgive me Microsoft, for give me Windows, I am coming home). I install OEL 5.2, it needs all kinds of RPM it is not funny.
All in all, Oracle got a lot of people (and companies) by the ball. It keeps churning out those patches and RUPs like crazy and charge clients for service and maintenace agreements. money keeps coming.
Up until now, I do not have to work with Oracle EBS. But now I have been offered a job with a large employer. If I accept the offer, I would have to work with Oracle and because of that I having a second thought..
I know I am gonna get a lot of criticism from a lot of people, but it is the honest truth.
Hello SAP (it is time to try SAP)

    Hello Dear,
We are sorry that you were not successful in installing / using EBS.
But, there are a lot of documents over the net , metalink, forums etc....to help you if you have any problem rather than bashing Oracle.
As you are going to say Hello to SAP, fyi, even people using SAP bashes SAP when they trouble in acheiving some thing.
So, I suggest first try to resolve the problem by approaching any media and then use it and see the Power of Oracle EBS.
    I hope you understand.
    Thanks for trying Oracle :)

  • Synchronization issue with Oracle Beehive Integration for Outlook

I use Outlook 2007 for Beehive client (used to have Outlook 2003, but seeing this problem I hoped it would help to upgrade to 2007, but the problem remains): when I am synchronizing my mobile device +(Windows Mobile 6+ on HTC Touch Diamond) then I get the following error for 2 contacts: +"The server rejected this change due to invalid data."+ I have many times reviewed the information but I cannot find anything wrong with it. It is true that those are probably 2 biggest contact cards I have (myself and my husband), with nice color photos. But I do have other quite big contact cards with photos and they don't give me any synching problems.
    Please, could anybody help me?
    Thank you in advance,

    Hi,
I don't know what the server limits are on size of attachements, photos and description. You could try to selectively trim some of this info to see if makes a difference. When you mention "photo*S*", do you have several images per contact? How? Also does the contact right now only exist on your device and you are attempting to sync it for the first time?

  • What is the best Path for a J2EE developer with oracle?

    Hi,
I am a J2EE developer, for the time being I work at a Commercial Bank as an enterprise application developer. I have learnt java when I was following a local IT diploma and with the help of books, works at my working place and the internet , today I am developing J2EE applications with JSP,Servlets,JSF2.0,EJB3.0 and third party JSF libraries etc. (I am also developing softwares using other programing languages such as Asp.net, C#.net, WPF etc, but I prefer to be in the java path). Other than that, I'm also working as the UI designer of most of our applications.
I have those skills and practice after working for 4 years as a web/enterprise application developer & a UI designer, but now I have to focus on some paper qualifications and hence I am doing BCS.
Now I want to be a java professional in Oracle's path, and I need to know what is the best path I can select to move with Oracle. I finished my classes of SCJP , but didn't do the exams as there were some rumors that Oracle will dump those exams in the future. I am interested in Oracle university, but I am unable to even think about it as I live in Sri Lanka and don't have that much of financial wealth to go USA and join.
So I really appreciate if any Oracle professional could suggest me the best educational path according to what I mentioned about my technical and career background. Because I have a dream to join Oracle one day as an employee and being a good contributer to the same forum, which I am getting helps today!
    Thanks!!!

As you can see on our website, Oracle did not retire the Java certifications. You can browse through the available certifications and hopefully help to determine your path.
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=140
SCJP has now become Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer. You can find more info on those exams on our website here: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=320.
Regarding training, perhaps live virtual training would be an option for you. You can find more information at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=233.

  • What XA JDBC driver should I use with Oracle 8i 8.1.6

I need to use an XA JDBC driver for Oracle 8i 8.1.6. I am using the driver in
a ConnectionPool in a TxDataSource for use by some entity beans using EJB 2.0.
I'm running WebLogic Server 6.0 sp2, EJB 2.0, Java 2 SDK 1.3.1 Server VM, Solaris
    2.7, and Oracle 8i 8.1.6.
I know of three different Oracle XA drivers: WebLogic jDriver for Oracle XA, Oracle
OCI type 2 driver XA, and Oracle Thin tyoe 2 XA. Are there any other drivers
that I can use for Oracle 8.1.6? Which driver and which version should I use?
For example, can I use the Oracle 8.1.7 JDBC drivers with the Oracle 8.1.6 server,
or would the Oracle 9i drivers work with the Oracle 8i server? Which drivers
are faster, and which support more features? I assume that I should not use the
type 4 driver since I am not using an applet, but I don't know if there are bugs
in the OCI C library for Solaris or in the JDBC drivers that use it that prevent
XA from woking. Which version of the Oracle C OCI library should I use if I use
    a type 2 driver?
    Thanks,
    Ross Goldberg

    Hi,
I think you can't use the 8.1.6 thin driver for XA, you would have to
use the OCI driver or 2PC-enable your datasource. AFAIK this has been
    changed for 8.1.7
    Check http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/////jta/thirdpartytx.html.

I've asked this question before. This is the reply from Joe
    Weinstein:
For reliability and JDBC 2.0 compliance, I recommend the
    Oracle thin driver.
If not that driver, you should verify that a type-2 driver
    actually does
deliver better performance, but then I would not have a
    strong preference
between their type-2 and ours. Theirs may be faster, and JDBC
    2.0 compliant.
Both are succeptible to OCI bugs, some of which only they can
    fix, but we
    listen.

  • What are the important points during a Linux upgrade with Oracle database?

Is there a specific document or metalink note that I may follow similar to this one during a Linux os upgrade -

Lets talk on an example; we may talk on upgrading details of a RHEL3 RAC system with Oracle options used like ASM,OCFS etc. to RHEL4. What steps are important to take by order and what are the best practices to be careful about during this type of an os upgrade for Oracle?

    > And do you know what a race condition is all about?
It is a term used to indicate several processes attempting to use the same resource that is not capable of servicing all these at the same time. This could be due to the resource not being thread safe or implemented as a serialised resource.
It is often easy to look up definitions on Google. In the Google search field, type "define:race condition".

Take a look into Plug-ins, there are some none-oracle ones pre built by Oracle and others.
There's a forum about Extensibility in the current category here.
Also, for further extensibility, the new Connector Framework looks interesting, see the OEM Integration Guide.

  • What Modules are bundled with Oracle 11.03 Financials?

I have a client that has 11.0.3 financials installed. They are only using GL, and AP. My question is, what modules were bundled with Oracle Financials in 1999. Do they license to the PO module? I know it was part of the FastForward Financials product. However, I can not find documentation for the standard product. Their license agreement on states Oracle Financials.

I believe that Procurement was not part of Financials, just AR, AR, FA, GL, and I think CE.

  • How to access (or configure) the web based Oracle Beehive workspaces client

    Hello,
In the one of the Oracle Beehive online trial, there is a demo about working with workspaces using a web interface:
    https://beehive-ondemand.oracle.com/Documents.html
I've been searching the documentation how can I access this web client on my installation, but I hadn't find the URL.
I'm wondering if this web client is included in the 1.4 version, if so, how can I access it? Do I have to configure it or install it? How?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello
this client is not provided with the 1.4.1., but it is expected with the next release (in a couple of month normally, that's what great weith beehive releases, every 2-3 month you get a lot of news !! )
