What's up with Red Eye?

In CS5, when I use the red eye tool, half the person's face looks like someone boxed them into submission. The red eye goes away but the side of the face turns black and blue.

If click and release does not work, then click and drag a selection slighlty larger than the red eye.
You can also adjust with these settings

Has anyone experience a bug with red eye correction in LR 5?

No matter what I do, anytime I try to use the red-eye correction tool, I get the message "Unable to find red eye". Even in pictures where the red eye is huge and clearly visible. Has anything changed in LR 5 that would cause this? I have Red Eye Correction enabled. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'm a rather new LR user, so I'd be grateful for someone pointing me in the right direction before I file a bug report.

I don't think there have been any algorithmic changes in red-eye, Lr5 vs. Lr4 (certainly none mentioned by Adobe, nor in Victoria Bampton's very thorough list of changes in Lr5, nor that I've noticed in the forums...), so if it is behaving differently (you sure it's not you? ), then it sounds like something is a-wonk now in your Lr5 (or was a-wonk before in your Lr4 ).

Aperture makes eye purple with Red Eye Correction tool. Why? Bug?

As you can see with the above picture, Aperture does not do red eye well. iPhoto gets it right, actually as well as Photoshop CS4.
Any suggestions? Or is this a bug?
And yes I could use Photoshop every time, but I am trying to do as much as I can in Aperture.

I have an old camera, Nikon Cool Pix 3100 and save my photos to .jpg. Yes I know, time to upgrade.
I capture straight into Aperture.
The thing that bugs me, iPhoto 08 gets it right, better than Photoshop. Aperture, since version 1, has always given me purple red eye cast on both Intel and Power PC Mac Book Pro's. Since iPhoto can get it right, Aperture should be able to.
Currently I use Pixelmator and desaturate with the brush tool for the best results.
By the way Lightroom 2 desaturates the eye to a light grey with it's red eye tool.
Different results with 4 different applications. I would love to just use one.

Help with red eye

I can't believe I can't get my red eye tool to work. The easiest tool in the program.
When I click on the red eye, I can't get the pupil slider or the darken slider to move to the right.
Essentially the red eye removal tool doesn't work for me.
Help please.

Red eye removal help please

I have a photo of 5 people all with red eye.
I went into quick edit for auto red eye removal and some peoples eyes became normal and others did not. Some would have one eye normal and the other red
I went in to the expanded version of editing and tried:
I expanded the view of a person's eyes, clicked on red eye icon then the person's eye - both were selected and one improved but the other did not.
I expanded the view of the eyes, clicked on the icon then on one pupil and it did not change.
What part am I missing.
I can't have people with one red eye and one normal.
I have played with the darkness of the eye and oddly enough, sometimes the darkness was on other parts of the body, like an ear.
I have played with the size of the pupil and that did not bring me positive results.
I have to be missing something and appreciate any suggestions.

For removing red eye manually,here is the steps i would follow:
Open your image in expert mode and make a rough selection around your red eye
Make a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer using the selection by clicking the icon shown in the figure or clicking Layer>New Adjustment Layer> Hue/Saturation
Change the channel to reds and use appropriate saturation and lightness value. I have used -100 for saturation and lightness
Use brush tool on the mask added to remove effect from any unwanted area

Red eye reduction won't save corrections

I have tried numerous to save changes of red eye reduction on a certain photo.
The correction is made but when I click the "Done" button the change is not saved and the original photo with red eye remains. It seems to work fine with all other photos here to fore.
What is the problem?

Droid Razr M Red Eye Boot Loop--continues for TOO many customers, need help!

Droid Razr M problem with red eye boot loop--with ALL of the many posts that can be found online concerning this problem, why is there not a FIX from Motorola and/or Verizon? All I seem to get are suggestions (I've tried) and "device is now considered out-of -date, you need a new phone". Why should I purchase a new phone when I will have another issue in 2 yrs to cause me to purchase again? Amazing how I am back to the 3G Droid Razr X to make due--It is about 5 yrs out-of-date. Support with phones that are out-of-contract is ...well, pretty much non-existent. Motorola gives the same "run around" after a 1 hr. call. Verizon chat tech were helpful/nice but I was sent to motorola when answers could not be found...useless call transfer/number. Any help for this Verizon faithful customer other than spend more $ for another phone?

Factory data reset is all that you can try really. If that does not repair the issue, then the software or hardware might really be at fault, and a repair would be necessary.

Photo stuck on edit requesting red eye but there are no eyes in photo and cannot move away or go back

Close the photos app in the recents tray and then reboot the iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the Photos icon. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Red eye correction

I am a brand new pse user, trying to understand the 'versions' concept. Everything I have read suggests saving your edits as a version of the original. Would there be a downside to overwriting the original with red eye corrected version instead of another copy?

Yes, particularly if you are using the auto red eye tool, which often corrects bright white teeth, light soures, etc. in place of the red eyes. If you really want to lose the original (not recommended) you can use the red eye tool in the editor and set PSE to save over the existing file. But a couple of years from now, when you have more sophisticated skills to use rather than the red eye tool, you may regret not being able to go back and redo them.

Point 1: The default photo editor from the camera app has a red eye removal tool, but I'm not sure how effective it is as it's not something I experience too often thankfully...
Point 2: I'm not sure of a way of changing the default storage directory (Sorry), but some apps may have settings that allow you to change this on an individual basis (The Camera app for example allows you to choose whether to save to media card or phone)
Point 3: There is an app on the device called File Manager. You can use this to cut/copy and paste files and downloads from the device to the media card and vice versa.

1. Below is an image with red eye
2. Select the paint with effects tool. Select the effect, and select Black and White.
3. Adjust the size of the brush to make it the size of the eye.
4. Zoom into the image, and start to remove the red eye.
5. Now you have quickly removed the red eye!

Here´s how you can create your own special Tool in Photoshop - a red eye pen for taking out... Red eye!
Open a photo with red eyes you want to eliminate.
Make a new action set, call it MyTools or similar, then start recording a new action. Call it Red eye Pen.
Hold Alt key, and go to Channel Mixer Adjustment Layer from the bottom of Layer Palette.
Call the new adjustment layer Red eye Pen.
Set these parameters (only Red channel changes):
R: r:10 g:+50 b:+40
G: r:0 g:+100 b:0
B: r:0 g:0 b:+100
Click ok.
Set opacity of adjustment layer to ~80%.
Immediately hit following keystrokes:
'Ctrl-alt-I' to invert adjustment layer.
Now press 'b' for brush tool.
Hit 'd' for default colors.
Now choose a suiting brush preset size (opacity cant be recorded).
Hit Stop in action palette.
Thats it. When you need a red eye pen, just play this action, and brush'em'away. Use the same principle to make other tools.
Mod: If you wish you can use the Action Palette´s Insert Menu Item with View>Actual Pixels to record a last step that zooms in to 100%.

Red eye reduction not always working

Hi.
On some pictures, I'm having trouble with the red eye reduction. On a few pictures, it worked just fine.
I'm having the most trouble with cats. The eyes aren't red, but bright yellow and nothing seems to happen when I try to use the tool.
Anyone else seeing this? Or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Lennart - good to see you're asking a question in this forum - you're usually the helper (in iMovie)
I've had the same problem with red eye reduction. It generally only works when eyes are red - yellow eyes don't respond to the correction tool (humans and cats). My workaround is to use the clone stamp in Photoshop Elements. Option click on part of an eye that is the right colour (usually dark) then clone to the eye needing correction. With patience and care, usually the eye can be suitably fixed. Zoom in when performing the correction.
In iPhoto preferences you can set Elements (or any editing program) to open automatically when double clicking a photo in iPhoto.

Red Eye Removal not working properly

I'm having a problem with the red eye tool. I've done a search of this problem which returned no results.
I have three similar photographs, i.e, taken a few seconds a part at a wedding ceremony. I've corrected the red eye problem on the first file. However, the red eye "dots" REMAIN when I switch to the next files. If I select the red eye tool, I even get the location ovals overlaying the new picture.

Red Eye Removal not working

I am using 1.3.1 and started out using the original version of lightroom that was released. I have really enjoyed lightroom. However, the red eye removal tool which worked when I started using lightroom is no longer working. I am having to pull all red eye corrections into "Elements" and that is annoying. When I select the red eye tool and click on the red eye all I get is a beep. I have tried clicking and dragging to select the exact size and that does not work either, just a beep. Does anyone have an answer to my problem?
