What's user variable name using Smart View POV function (ex:HypGetActiveMember)?

Hi,
We want to use Smart View POV function (ex:HypGetActiveMember) to get the active member of user variables from HFM forms selected into Excel, but we don't know the user variable name in the following paragraph of Smart View developer guide:
"To uniquely identify the user variable, provide the user variable name rather than the dimension name."
For example, what's the user variable name of Year dimension? How to get the user variable name?
Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

I guess user variable name is set by users/developers. I am not very clear on your question. If you have defined some variables to select any members from a dimension then it will be in HFM only. In planning we have two kinds of variables User Variables (we set it from Planning Preferences) and Substitution variable (we set it from Essbase Consol in the backend). Without looking into your application it is difficult to say the user variable name. Like for Year the user variables can be "PreviousYear", "CurrentYear", or "NextYear" etc.

Error when using Smart View install link in Workspace

Hi All,
We recently decidely to use Smart View 11.1.2.5, instead of 11.1.2.1.
In order to role out the file to our users we need to update the link in Workspace. I did so, copying the new .exe and version.xml file to our server that houses workspace, in file path Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1/common/epmstatic/wspace/SmartView. I then removed the old files. Now when I login to HFM and go to the link, after a period of a few minutes I get the error "unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application."
I tried restarting all services, a dead end.
Does anyone know what needs to be done to fix this error?

Yes, this is frustrating. You need .NET Framework 4.5 installed to be able to download and install from Internet Explorer. As per usual Firefox does not suffer from this and allows you to download the installer and save locally, no bother.

Error entering data in a data form using Smart View

One of my user is facing an issue while entering data in a data form through Excel, if she uses the same data form in workspace she is able to enter data. She is facing the issue while entering in a specific column, for all other columns she is able to enter data in the data form. It is only one column for which she is facing issue while using smart view/excel and not workspace, as in workspace she is able to enter data.

Opening of tables with non english names in Smart View

Hi All,
I can't open tables with russian names with Smart View. English named tables works fine, and Russian names opens in wrong encoding as a name of Excel worksheets like this - #1087;оис. So no table opens. What's wrong and how to fix it?

HFR Reports imported into ppt using smart view

Hi All,
Hyperion financial reporting version:11.1.2.334
ORACLE smart view version for office :11.1.2.5.210(Build 042)
Microsoft power point version 2007
Hyperion financial reporting reports imported into Microsoft power point presentation using smart view, total 55 HFR reports are imported into power point presentation.
The entire ppt file with 60 slides ,55 reports+5 textual commentary slides ,total size of the pptx file is 21 mb,
We have tried using the compress picture option available in power point, reducing the file size to 3.5 MB after compression(96 ppi ,see attached image),but image quality is lost, numbers in some images not readable at all.
Also tried the compression options with 220ppi,150ppi,but not seen any change in the file size reduction.
We are looking at reducing the size of ppt file as 20 mb file is difficult to transfer by email or to download, is there any workaround or other best solutions to reduce the size of an image ,we are ok to lose the quality of an image if the numbers and labels are readable.

Thanks a lot for your valuable time and inputs,i have tried with winzip and as well 7 zip,but not reduced the size.
if i see my users existing ppt file size is 4 mb (60 slides),but these reports designed in excel sheet (not in HFR) and then copied to PPT.
Tabular reports copied from excel to ppt as windows metafile and graphs and charts are as image file.
is there any possibility to change the image format before or after importing the HFR report into ppt using any SDK in smart view?

Reg Normal Read Privilege Users on Essbase through Smart View

Dear Experts,
I have a typical problem today....Am able to access the Essbase through Essbase Administrator Privileges using Smart View
Similarily, when i provide only Read only access to the "X" named user, it says Operation is not permitted under your APS user account privilleges
I remember this, earlier it was working fine for the user which has read privilege
Moreover, from HSS point of view, do we need to assign any role pertaining to "APS Application Group" to the normal user?
But i was not seeing anything for the administrator which is working and even am not able to see the provider services
application group when we try to do the privisioning... Able to see the provider services registered with Shared Services
Please let me know your suggestions....

Performance issues when using Smart View and Excel 2010

Hello, we are experiencing very slow retrieval times when using Smart View and Excel 2010. Currently on v.11.1.3.00 and moved over from Excel 2003 in the last quarter. The same spreadsheets in 2010 (recreated) are running much slower than they used to in 2003 and I was wondering if anyone else out there has experienced similar problems?
It looks like there is some background caching going on as when you copy and paste the contents into a new file and retrieve it is better.....initially. The size of the files are generally less than 2mb and there aren't an expecially large number of subcubes requested so I am at a loss to explain or alleviate the issues.
Any advice / tips on how to optimise the performance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
If you want to see the logincal database used in the report ( tcode se38) in the intial screen select the attribute tab
and click display you will bw able to see the logical datbase ysed for the report.

Hi Lisa
Basically they need a web browser and access to the WebHelp. Preferably Internet Explorer or Firefox and whatever the browser, recent versions of each. And if you have any Flash content in your help (such as Captivate movies) the browser needs a recent version of the Flash Plug In or Helper object.
I believe Google Chrome is not a supported browser and you might see issues with other browsers than IE or FF.

Financial Reports import into excel using Smart View - error

All,
I have encountered an error message when trying to use R&A Import.
The message is
Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition
"Excel cannot insert the sheets into the destination workbook, because it contains fewer rows and columns than the source workbook. To move or copy the data to the destination workbook, you can select the data, and then use the Copy and Paste commands to insert it into the sheets of another workbook."
This only affects some users and then they are able to reimport the reports no problem in the same workbook after the error is posted.
Does anybody know how to fix this issue?
We are using Excel 2007, Oracle Hyperion Smart View 11.1.13, Financial Reporting Studio, Hyperion Planning 11.1.13.

Answer appears to be users were using Excel 2007 in compatibility mode. Switching from compatibility mode to saving in Excel 2007 removed the errors.

good question but unfortunately I do not have direct answer. But I am very interested in answer. I found this about variable naming in ABAP documentation.
As well as these characters, certain special characters are used internal. However, these should not be used in application programs.
and in ABAP objects you can use only
Permitted are letters from "A" to "Z", numbers from "0" to "9" and underscores (_).
So my guess is that it should be related to special characters. Maybe passing some hints to ABAP compiler.

Dataforms using smart view

Hi All,
I m having a problem with smart view.Few dataforms don't open peoperly.I saw one of your posts saying if i use DTS in column level i will not be able to open that dataform.I have exactly done the same thing,I have used Y-T-D in column level.As per my requirement i had to use it in column level rather than page level.
Is there any other way to open the dataform in smartview excel sheet?

I take it you mean this issue
If a data form has Dynamic Time Series members displayed in the columns or rows, when the form is opened in Smart View an invalid form message is received. If the Dynamic Time Series members are in the Page dimension, the data form opens without an error. (8557012)

Accessing variable names using String

I have to check up to 13 JCheckBox variables to see if they are checked or not, and I have the variables named: count1, count2, count3,...,count13. I wanted to know if there was a way to go through them in a while loop until I found the last one that was checked. I want to do the following:
int i = 1;
while([count+i].isSelected()) {
i++;
int foodCount = i;
//foodCount is stored in database
I am doing this for a pet store and I don't want to have 12 extra columns in the database - I just want to have one for the overall food count. Any ideas how I can dynamically create a variable name?
