What's with my Apple ID?

I got a new iPod Touch. I successfully transferred my stuff from my old iPod Touch and signed with my AppleID. I have been using this Apple ID for several years to buy things from the iTunes Store. Everything seemed to be going just great, then I tried to purchace an app from the App Store.
But it wouldn't let me buy my app. It wanted me to answer security questions:
A. What was my favorite job,
B. Where was I on Jan 1, 2000.
I have no idea what I might have put as my favorite job. I don't recall answering that question, but that's several years ago. I usually answer the name of my cat or my Mother's maiden name. The ones I tried didn't work and and as locations I don't know if it's case sensitive, or if I have to include state or zip or whatever.
I know exactly where I was on Jan 1, 2000, but perhaps my format is wrong.
How do I get around this problem? This is beginning to bug me.

Don't suppose anybody knows what kind of format is required to answer questions of location? I mean, do I have to exactly duplicate the exact way I entered the answer to the ID question? Do I have to include town and state...do I need zip? You'd think somebody ought to know the answers to that or how could Apple continue to maintain that style of verification? How are we supposed to remember the exact order of every character?
(Incidentally, for the record, the first question was "WHERE was your favorite job.")

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

The missing link : the MacBook Pro needs to be powered... as in you need to plug the charger in...
In conclusion, you simply plug everything, turn on the MacBook Pro, close the lid, and there you go !

A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
the Fusion virtual machine.

If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it.

I have Snow leopard on my computer, and I tried to do a hard restart as an article suggested, but it did not work. I also tried cleaning out the PRAM.
The only things I did last night:
-cleaned the history of Firefox out, including cookies
-let it unplugged all night
-plugged it back in the morning, it took a long time to figure itself out, but eventually the time was correct and I got on the internet for a bit
-shutdown the computer since I was going out and thought it would help the computer charge
-came back, tried to turn it on, and found that it would not go past the grey screen the apple on it and the spinning wheel even though I left it for 20 minutes or more
-tried turning it off and on to no avail

Before doing a reinstall, which may not be needed at this point,
Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Repair reports and if DU was able to repair them. This could just be a start in repairs and you may need a better utility to finish the job.
Then Repair Permissions.
No need to report any Permissions errors........we all get them.

1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

I recently had an iphone 6 stolen and since it was someone who knew how to gain access to my personal information they were able to change passwords and such associated with my apple id which made it a nightmare.
