What's with the huge photo cache?

My photos take up 1.8GB on the PC (11K). But when I sync them, it takes up 8.6GBs and touch is not able to sync all my files. Turns out that there's a 8.86GB photo cache that is created in the pic folder and I guess that is also uploaded to the touch (16GB) during syncing.
Is there a way to dumb these bloated files?

That is weird.
Is the photo sync count correct? Are there any photo format's not listed as being compatible?
i.e. Syncs iPod-viewable photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG formats
Have tried resetting your ipod touch and then re-sync'ing to see if the issue persists.
Reset Settings
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Note: This will reset all settings. No data or media will be deleted.
If that does not resolve your issue, try erasing all settings.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings
Note: This will delete all media and data. All settings will be reset as well.

What's with the HUGE file sizes for patches

Hi gang,
Every time I install a patch my Staroffice directory bloats back up. When installing for the first time, I select english only and it only installs english but when I install the patches it installs about 5 different languages which fattens up the installation. Can't it be smart enough to realize that I only want English or just give me the option during install for English only or better yet, let me download an english only install.
Now for Linux it is even worse as the "patch" is about 500MB and includes MANY more duplicate files by language.
Some of us don't have the bandwidth OR HD space to spare on all of this.
IS Sun at all concerned? Does anyone else care?

With the exception of the patches for 1.1.5, which are available as a total of three files, SO is following OOo which includes all files in its updates.

Best to keep the terms clear.
You export photos from iPhoto.
You move the iPhoto Library to an external disk.
They're are quite different processes. Exporting means at the end you have a file outside iPhoto. Moving means the files are still inside iPhoto.
So if you say:

That reads like I''ve selected all the photos in iPhoto and am exporting them to a folder on this external drive, and at the end I'll have a folder full of photos outside iPhoto. Is that what you mean?
Is it best to have a 'master' I photo library on an external drive for all the thousands of pics Im never really going to look at often - and a smaller one kept on the HD for day to day usage ...
Best? Hard to know. It might make sense on a portable. But if you're on an iMac why do you need a smaller one on the internal? Why not just have the whole library on the external? There is no performace hit.

What happened to the thumbnail photo in an event? Previously all I had to do was to drag the thumbnail photo to a folder, now I need to drag each individual photo to that folder. If that means a few or several, it's a hassle. Any help for this one?

What happened to the thumbnail photos for an event? Previously when I wanted to transfer an event to a specific folder all I needed to do was drag the thumbnail. If there were multiple events, I only needed to pick the one I wanted and drag it. Simple and it worked very well. If there was an event with several, I only neede to drag the one thumbnail and it was done. Now I need to drag each individual photo to the new folder. Sometimes that could mean 10, 20 or more. Doing one at a time is can be a very slow process. If there are events that need to be split, it can be even slower. Any positive ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)

You do no specifically. It sounds like you are syncing a folder to the iPod. In that case:
From a Folder on Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
The iPod Photo Cache will be located in the folder you selected to sync with.
Thus, you have to change the location of the folder you sync with.

HT4236 Is it possible to change the location of the ipod Photo Cache?

Is it possible to change the location of the ipod Photo Cache? At the moment it is created in my photos folder in win 8 which saves to my SkyDrive so I have duplicates and wasted space on the drive.
I would like to change the location to a location which is not saveed in the cloud.

The logo is in it's own table cell - so css will not work (can't change the order of table columns using css). You could possibly replace the logo image on the server with a single white pixel (create a custom skin if you want), then add a new background image to the table (class is HeaderTopBar) aligned right and no repeat using CSS. You would need to pad out that right side somehow to make it align (the last cell has class HeaderPageStatus and contains the status image).

What happened to the ipad photo viewer in lock screen? I updated to iOS 7.0 and nolonger have the slide show and music while in lock sreen. This was the most used feature of my iPad since I put it in a dock on my desk. Is there another way to do that.

I 100% agree with ski-doug!!!
I use iPad 50% of the time to play music and display photos for my customers!!!
I also have seen many a business display picture slideshows to their incoming customers without granting access to the device!
I realize many will save personal pictures to their iPads and thus they will not want easy acces to them, and they could block this feature in previous iOS.
Please, please, please Apple, DO NOT generalize and figure we are all the same!
Please reuturn this feature!

How do you stop your phone from creating two albums with the same photos after syncing?

When I first bought my phone I was able to sync my photos by checking the folder I wanted synced under iTunes. This put all those photos on photo library on my phone. I recently added more photos to that folder and tried to sync them it now put them in the photo library album and also created another album with my folder name. So I have two albums with the same photos. I tried in checking that folder in iTunes and of course they're not in my photo library. Please help. I don't want two albums with the same pics

This is how Apple has always handled photos. nothing has changed at all.
Just as your music is in your library and you can access those exact same songs from a playlist, all of your synced pics are in the Photo Library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the album name that you chose to sync.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, iCloud does not offer equivalents to Mobile Me’s iDisk, Gallery or Web Hosting services. You will need to find a third party solution to replace these services. You might consider DropBox, SugarSync, MediaFire or any other service that offers online storage. (not all these alternatives offer all the services previously provided by iDisk)

ITunes movies no longer sync from Dell laptop or MacBook Pros (both authorized devices) to iPhone 6s or iPad Air 2s after configured at Apple store yesterday. In the past I could see the movies in iTunes with the cover photo and sync.

In the past I could see the movies in iTunes with the cover photo and sync to the other devices but now there is a listing a movies with no cover photos and in fact if I try to view the movie on the MacBook Pro it cannot be found unless I download it.

All I had to do was complain. I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store. I have no idea why.

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight. Do NOT use an iPod/iPhone charger. Do NOT use a computer's USB port. Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear). An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem. I am stating, however, that we don't yet know. If the above test does, in fact, indicate a problem, read this.
Also, according to Apple:
Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

Where's the music on iTunes, and what's with the quality and compatibility?

I'm just curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue or not: Does anyone else feel like, after searching for specific songs, there's just little to nothing in the database? I feel like most of my searches are pointless because iTunes has either no data of my requested search and/or only has bits and pieces of it.
Another question I have: After having a slightly successful search, why am I left with low quality tunes? I mean, you can hear the compression... badly. (I know it's not my speakers)
Last question: If I'm paying for the song, shouldn't I be allowed to download a universal file? iTunes uses a unique format that no other application uses. In other words, more money has to be spend for m4a to mp3 converters (unless you're a cracker [not a racial comment]).
To me, I value iTunes and its team, so I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. I understand there are contracts involved with the artists and it's hard to please ALL of the subscribers. But seriously, where's the music on iTunes, and what's with the quality and compatibility?

Today I thought of finally putting lyrics on my songs. So I've been quite some time busy doing that, then I tried it on my iPad (2) and I can't find them. Just as the people above say. Then I went to search where I can find them and I found this page. I'm really dissapointed and I don't understand how something like this could happen. So I hope Apple will fix this soon.
