What's with the image Save dialog in CS6?

Being aware that this is a slightly distempered question: exactly whose bright idea was it to replace the wasn't-broken-so-why-fix-it Save for Web dialog, which looked, felt and workd the same as in Photoshop, with the dummy version in CS6? It isn't even "mostly harmless" -- it seriously gets in the way of getting work done.
The Photoshop team didn't change the SfW dialog, so why did the DW team decide to tear up the memo that says "Suite point products should maintain consistent UX."?
Change for the sake of change is never a good idea. Change that removes needed functionality is a bad idea. A bad change that also directly contradicts the entire philosophy of the Creative Suite is an offense, the penalty for which should be exile of the guilty UX and engineering personnel to an island with no electric supply, no phone lines, no internet connection of any kind, somewhere off the southern coast of Tierra del Fuego, for one complete product cycle. Without parole.

In several workflows, I maintain native PSDs and insert those into web pages both for speed and ease of update via "Edit Original" and "Update from Original."
DW CS6 has almost no functionality in its new SfW dialog, just a list of presets that aren't adaptable and are in most cases unsuitable. In order to properly optimize an image, instead of using DW CS4 thru CS5.5 image converter I have to either a) SfW out of Photoshop, losing the "Update from Original" functionality in DW, or b) switch to CS5.5 so I can use its dialog (which was essentially the same as Photoshop's SfW). Both of these add time to the process. Multiply by 40 to 50 Photoshop composites and you're talking a serious waste of billable time. I don't charge by the hour.

Autofs.service causing problems with gnome's save dialog boxes

Recently I have been having a problem saving files to disk using the gnome save dialog box when autofs is running. Basically what happens is most of the folders on the right side of the save dialog disappear (see screenshot below) and remaining few become unresponsive when clicked. If I wait a few minutes the folders will eventually appear and work when clicked, but needless to say this is annoying.
I can "fix" this problem instantly by simply running systemctl stop autofs.service, but this is not a good solution because I like the convenience of mounting my NFS shares on demand.

Finder sidebar not updating with applications open/save dialog boxes

Hi all,
I've searched the threads and can't seem to find an answer to this recurring issue that I'm having.
I save folders to current projects in the Finder sidebar. However, I find that when I try to find those sidebar folders from within the open/save dialog applications that it is often times and old version of the sidebar. In the image linked below note the Finder sidebar on the left and the InDesign CS sidebar on the right. The list of folders is different. The version via InDesign seems to be an older cached version.

Try deleting this file: com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. See if that helps...
Seems to me that Adobe is very picky about where the files are kept on the hard drive. You might not want them in the Sidebar. Whenever you do an Adobe software update, the installer needs the path to where those files go. If it's missing in action, it can wreak havoc.
Make sure when you do Adobe updates, if there is a link included or a Read Me file, check that out first before installing anything.
Run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions BEFORE and AFTER any software updates:
Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.

How do I change the dimensions of an image? The Image Size dialog box will not allow me to change dimensions. I am taking an online class and the Image Size dialog box looks different than the one I am seeing in Photoshop CC. It has the option to change the dimensions.

When you say chage the dimentions, do you mean crop the image and adjust the size of the image at the same time, or do you mean you want to just resize the image? Can you post a screen shot of what you're trying to do?

Creating a button that changes with the images in a slideshow in Adobe Muse?

Are you able to create a new button inside or outside of a slide show that changes with the images? I want to have the images change and contain a title and link to the project they are related to. Whenever the image changes, whether automatically or someone clicks the "Next/Previous" buttons, the button link and title will change with it.

The first page ("Featured" page) contains the what I am looking for. The title of the project changes with picture but the link on the "view project" button (probably just a new button in the same location) also changes. So when the picture of project X is up the button will take you to project X's page. When it changes to the project Y picture, the link will take you to project Y's page. My problem is that I'm not sure how have my button or even the text to change. Slideshows only change pictures not buttons. Since it's a widget i can't seem to add any new buttons. Hope this is a better description of my issue.

I accomplished what I needed last night. I remembered I had picked my favorite images from each year and put them in a "favorite" folder by year. These folders included 500 to 1200 images per year. I pulled up the folder for each year and highlighted all images and clicked on "Keywords" and all keywords used for all images were listed. I made those keywords persistent. It took me a while to realize I had to click on each keyword to make it persistent. After doing this for all years, I assume 95% of all keywords I have used over the many years were back in my list. I'm sure there is probably a more "technical" way to accomplish what I needed, but this seems to have worked. I also exported my list into a word document and is saved on my hard drive.
If I had not made folders with my favorite images for each year, I could not have used this method, so if you figure out a better way, I like to hear it. Thanks for your comments and willingness to help.

Help with the open/save message box

Hi everyone, I have a link to a PDF on my website and I need it to open in browser. Right now it always comes up with the open/save message box.
This is no good because I need to embed a direct page link (ie #page=9), and the open/save message box removes the page variable and opens to page one.
It's strange because I have two PDF links on this particular page and while one works fine (and opens in browser) the other constantly prompts with open/ save.
Suggestions? I've already gone into the PDF preferences and set it to "Open PDF in Browser"... this does not help.

Well - Yes --- and No. When I try to re-save a document or use the new Save As... implementation I am generally offered my Mac. But - If I create a New document and then use Cmd-S I am taken back to the iCloud Save window with the disclosure triangle closed. I am seeing this in TextEdit and Preview, but I have not checked all my document creator applications to see if the protocol is across the board.)
(Note - the "On My Mac" button is only available in the OPEN Dialog - not the SAVE Dialogs.)

I have a group of my images that rotate, and yes it happens oneach. I do believethat I have at one time had the images cover the entire screen, however I cannor remember how I made that happen, just like the desktop. I am sure it is old'ites setting in!

Restore your library from an up to date backup.
If you don't have a backup (which you really should), see turingtest2's user tip on Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash for steps necessary to restore your library within iTunes - this assumes that your media is all present on your computer, as it always should be.

Unfortunately, iCloud does not offer equivalents to Mobile Me’s iDisk, Gallery or Web Hosting services. You will need to find a third party solution to replace these services. You might consider DropBox, SugarSync, MediaFire or any other service that offers online storage. (not all these alternatives offer all the services previously provided by iDisk)

For the last 2 days whenever I try to upload photos from my iPhoto page to facebook I get an error message: Bad Image There was a problem with the image file. I haven't knowingly changed any settings on iPhoto or facebook. Can anyone help, please ?

Can you drag it to the Desktop?

When scrolling vertically there is an horizontal line which causes distorsion of the screen. I do not have noticed such concern on my iMac or on my macbook. What happen with the macpro ?
