  • What is up with wireless on iPod Touch?

    Hi,
My daughter got an iPod touch for Christmas and I have been fighting the wireless ever since. It connects to my access point. I can get to google but not other sites. Could get to the apple store but couldn't download the facebook app. So I downloaded it through iTunes and can get her on facebook but she can't post. E-mail is also spotty. She can intermittently receive e-mails but doesn't seem to be able to send.
I have been all over google trying to figure this out but no luck other than everyone ********. BTW, the Firmware is 3.1.2 (7D11).
Please don't tell me 100 different ways to reboot my access point (router) or anything else as I am sitting here surrounded by 3 laptops and a netbook that have NO issues.
Is is 3.1.2? Should I downgrade?
Thanks if anyone can actually help me. (BTW I don't know if this thing is a 1G or 2G as I don't know how to tell).

Downgrading to an earlier OS isn't going to help you at all. Taking the attitude that "everything else is working so you shouldn't have to do anything with your network" isn't going to help you either. But if you don't mind doing a bit of work, you can get everything working.
The latest firmware versions of iPod touches put a premium on having modern routers with up to date firmware installed. However, router's, just like every other piece of electronics with a processor in it, do benefit from a good reboot once in a while. Surely you can unplug the power to your router for 30 seconds to see if you can get the touch to connect better. You might find that this simple action improves all of your device connectivity. Your choice, however.
My usual advice is to power cycle the router, reset the network settings on the touch, and log back into the network using Settings > WiFi > other and re-entering the information. Sometimes I encourage people to get rid of WEP and replace it with WPA-psk or WPA2-psk which are more secure and easier to implement. Again, your choice.
And finally, if connection problems persist, I recommend that people download and install the latest router firmware for their model.

  • What to do with an older ipod touch?

At one point, I upgraded to an iPad 2. That said, my old ipod touch seems to be going to waste, dispite the hardware being in good shape. I thought i would keep it around for music and podcasts. Its been reset, and because it only has ios 4.2.1, and can't upgrade to 5, it no longer has the ability to download the podcast app which requires version 5. Is there a way around this? Can i get an older version of the app?
    Little help?

I find it rather sad that an ipod classic, though abondoned by apple at this point, can still play podcasts. But this one can't. I understand products cant be supported forever, but it seem weird that they would not have an app pack or alternative firmware for older products to keep them useful. But thanks for the info.

  • IPod Touch not syncing music

Why oh why do things that worked previously not work now? This happens so much with Apple products!!!
I have tried now several times to sync my plugged-in iPod Touch with my iTunes selected songs and playlists.
I have checked the boxes about manually managing music. I have chosen for the iPod to sync with a playlist in my iTunes library, and even tried just dragging the songs over.....They still do not show up on the iPod.
I did a manual reset, holding down the On/Off button and home button on the iPod, and it still isn't syncing correctly.

I had a similar problem yesterday. Even after "restoring" it still would not sync the music but did sync the videos!! In another thread I found some help from "John Guo" who suggested
"Try putting the iPod into recovery mode. To do that, turn off the iPod. Then it on and hold the Home button until it asks you to connect to iTunes. Plug the iPod into your computer and restore it. Hope this works."
I did that & all works fine now. One other thing I did was set NO automatic syncing in itunes prefs. I when it asked after the restore I did NOT restore settings from backup bu designated it a new ipod.
    Good luck,
    Harris

  • Ipod touch wont sync music after restore/update

i recently came back from the apple store after trying to update my ipod to 4.2 and running across many errors. finally, my ipod is working again however as it had to be restored i have to sync everything back onto it. The apps, photos and videos synced fine but when it tries to sync music, itunes freezes right away. it will say syncing whatever song and it just stops. First, the number of songs and what song it syncs first seems to change every time i sync it. Sometimes it says 1 of 1 sometimes 168 out of 168, when it should be at least over 500 songs. Second, after i let the computer with the frozen itunes sit for a while, it came up with 2 error messages; one saying the song could not be synced because of error -20 i think, the second saying the data couldn't be written onto the ipod and then it froze forever on the finishing syncing bar. i've tried restarting my computer, disconnecting the internet and disabling my firewall. itunes is up to date and so is the ipod obviously. we use ca security center. please help i just want to be able to use my ipod again

the ca security people fixed my problem and its syncing fine. if anyone else has problems syncing while running ca security post on this forum and they will pm you the solution

  • 2nd Gen iPod Touch not syncing music album info properly.

It's more of a annoyance than anything but in iTunes the music album information is correct but on the iPod Touch it's not. For instance the album ChangesBowie by David Bowie shows it as such in iTunes. However on the Touch it shows the artists as "Various Artists". When I look at the info in iTunes it's correct on the Music listing for both the Library and iPod sections.
How do I correct this? There's a half dozen or so like this. All of them were imported into iTunes from the CD's I own.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Dan Voils wrote:
In iTunes it is correct. It's listed as Artist: David Bowie.
If you look in iTunes, I bet you'll see the Album Artist is "Various Artists" (Album Artist is a separate field from Artist). If Album Artist is not displayed in your library, right-click on any of the column headers and select Album Artist. That will reveal what's in this field for each song.
    Dan Voils wrote:
It is saving the files in the Compilation folder on the hard drive. Where are the Tags I need to check? I don't see it in the Get Info area of the album.
In iTunes, select all songs on the album then right-click and select "Get Info" (or simply press Ctrl-I). You'll see a window that shows the "tags" for the songs. There you'll see the Album Artist field underneath the Artist field. If Album Artist is not "David Bowie" then change it to David Bowie (or blank it out). Also, you should see an "Options" tab at the top edge of the window. Select that and you'll see the "Part of a Compilation" setting. If it is "Yes" then change it. You'll see this flag set to Yes incorrectly on several albums, mostly "Best Of" type albums which are not really Compilations but that's how they're tagged in the Gracenote CDDB database where iTunes gets its tag info.

  • What's wrong with my iphone 4 touch screen??

Calling anyone who knows anything about iphones! My iphone 4 seems to be playing little tricks on me including, not responding to touch when say trying to unlock, or typing in formation or accessing an app. The left side of the screen seems to be more affected than the right and I noticed this when trying to select emails to delete (left side) but I can individually swipe to delete them (right side).  I have tried rebooting and this did not improve the situation.
Apple want to charge me 25 quid just to speak to someone online?! Something I cannot afford! Any ideas would be great - I am hoping it is because I haven't updated to IoS 6 yet!! #frustratingiphone!
Thank you for any light / help / guidance you can give me!!!

  • What's wrong with my iPhone 5s touch screen?

Attached a video that demonstrates a problem with my iPhone 5s: http://youtu.be/zOnQsrdgURI
    Tried restoring - didn't work.
Tried disabling Touch ID - didn't work.
Tried removing the case and the screen protector - didn't work.
Any suggestions other then going to an Apple Genius Bar? (don't have apple retail stores where I live)

That is not normal if you barley got the phone from Apple go to an apple store and do an exchange do not let them trick you and let them give you a swap do a whole brand new iphone exchange if you bought it from a carrier call them because you have 14 days for an exchange or go to the store you bought it from and let them know but in the US if you bought it from a carrier we have 14 days for an exchange if you bought it from apple you have 30 days

  • Help!! what's wrong with my new ipod classic??

Hi there, I have a brand new 80G ipod classic to replace my older 8G nano. I've been using itunes as usual but when I plugged my new ipod into the PC to transfer my existing itunes library and purchased tracks to my new ipod I got the message "attempting to copy to the disk failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." I was then prompted to 'restore' the ipod. I retried downloading a number of times. Each time the message appeared after downloading only a few of the saved music tracks (5,162,190,19), and each time I had to restore the ipod. I'm sure this isn't a problem with my PC software as my wife is using a brand new 8G nano from the same PC without issue. Could it be that the ipod hard drive is crashing during the download process? I'm really stuck and would love to use my christmas gift as intended! Hope someone can help.
    Many thanks.

  • What is wrong with my 30gb Ipod Video?

while i was updating my ipod, i restarted it, believing that it was frozen. At that time, there was the apple logo on the screen with a bar under it. After i restarted it, i was unable to turn it back on. i tried plugging it to my computer but it wouldnt recognize it and show up at all, even in itunes. in addition, the logo does not appear when i do this, even when i try charging it. I tried charging it on an outlet overnight but nothing happened. I tried to restart it again but it remains the same, off. I have done some research and some people concluded that my ipod is "bricked". is it? and is it possible to repair it?
