What's wrong with my iPhone 4 battery?!?

The phone dies really fast, and this has only been happening recently. I also leave it overnight to charge every night, and nowadays, it only charges to 30%. I ran the battery down every month prior like its recommended. Also, is it possible that the actual battery is almost out of cycles? Ive had the iPhone 4 since launch and use it very heavily. Could it be a problem with the charger? I know the IOS 5 update crippled some people's battery life, but mine was fine, and I've had IOS 5.01 for a while, with no problems until last week. Any idea what's wrong.

Welcome to the club! When you go into the Apple store to have your iPhone diagnostics evaluated by the genius crew, most likely they will say nothing is wrong. After 2 trips to the Apple store, I sent in my iPhone 5s on the 3rd try for a battery replacement under warranty. Well, the problem still exists and Apple says everything is just fine and dandy. I have to respectfully disagree.

After i updated iOs 7 + to my iphone 4s my battery wont stop going down. For a typical day the battery lasts for 1hr and 30minutes which is ridiculous. I Charge it at night, and have to charge it during school which is breaking our rules. My iphone isnt even a year old! I GOT THIS IS FEBRUARY 2013! Today i went to class ad shut down my phone with 77%, turned it on with 54%, turned it off with 48% left and turned it on again at lunch with 9%. WHen you turn off your phone the batter shouldnt go down, and ive tried all the methods to save my battery but it doesnt work at all. Literally it does the same thing. Oh yeah and occatonally the battery jumps around when its plugged into m wall, at one time it said 58%charging and i look at it again one minute later 12% left. PLEASE HELP ME I HAVE A GUARENTEE WITH BEST BUY FO RMY PHONE BUT THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A NEW ONE BECAUSE" APPLE IS WORKING ON IT" PLEEEEAAAASEEE I CANT LIVE LIKE THIS. ps i have also tried restarting it and restoring it but that didnt help me either

Depending on the settings for your social media apps, your usage can very. If, for example, Facebook is checking the status to often, your battery is more likely to be drained. Same for mail and other push/fetch services.
Sometimes it helps to delete the account and set it up again, there have been cases in which those apps got stuck trying to connect to their servers.
If you restored the phone from the latest backup you made, did you reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for at least 10sec, until the Apple logo came back again?

This is not a current feature of any iphone, it never has been! I've heard that there are apps in the app store that allow you to transfer contacts but i'm not sure about anything else! Again you would need to look in the appstore, but again it will be very specific to that app if there are any at all!

try exiting the app and double clicking the home button. the multitasking apps will show up. delete all of them by holding them down and pushing the red circle (dont worry that doesnt remove them from the phone, just completely closes the app and makes your device run faster) then power off your phone by holding down thw lock button and sliding the red arrow when it comes up. wait about 5 seconds after its completely off and turn it back on. then try using the mic. hope this helps

You use the side control and make sure your phone isn't on vibrate. Up is for ringer down is for vibrate.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

That would indicate an issue with the local network, not internet. This can impact devices differently and will likely be more obvious on a streaming only device.
If you are on wifi try ethernet
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
Go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise.

What's wrong with my iPhone 5c?

Last night I was on my phone until it died. It was working perfectly fine as usual. Then this morning when I went to charge it, it turned on, but the screen looked distorted and the touch was not working. The only thing I can do is turn it on and off. I took it to an iPhone repair place to see what was wrong and if it can be fixed. The guy checked it out to see if there was any type of damage to it, which there was none. He then tried to put a different screen on it but the screens he tried also were distorted and the touch did not work. Since it couldn't be fixed, I went back home and tried to plug it into my iTunes account on my computer to see if I can somehow try to fix it from my computer by restoring it or something else. However, when I plugged it into my computer, it says that iTunes cannot connect to my iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. I don't even have a passcode on my phone. I have no idea what has happened to my phone. I have had it for about 9 months and never had an issue with it before. If anyone can help me out or at least give me an idea of what is wrong with it, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

If you try restoring from a backup and that doesn't fix the problem, try restoring to factory settings and, if the problem goes away, then synching your apps. You'll lose the app data and settings, but if the problem is due to a corrupt cache or settings file, that should cure it.
If none of that helps, your device may have developed a hardware fault and will need to be take or sent to Apple.

Last night i went to a party and my phone was working and had 43% battery.
After about two hours i pulled my phone out to see what the time was.
And it wouldn't turn on. I pushed both buttons a million times. and nothing happened.
I thought that it was flat so when i got home i put it straight onto the charge. I waited for it to turn on and vibrate to let me know it was on. But nothing happened..
It has been 8 hours and its still not on.
I checked to see if it was actually on by ringing it. And it rung out. But the phone didn't vibrate or light up.
Does anyone know what is wrong with it? And what should I do?

First I would try a reset if you haven't, (hold the on/off button and the home button for about 5 seconds). Also, how are you charging it? Sometimes USB charging can be a pain, ensure that you are plugging it in directly to the outlet.

It's like when I tried to use other device to send a file to the iPhone, at first it couldn't even find the iPhone, after I turned off and turned on bluetooth again, it found the iPhone, but when I tried to send the file, said it was failed. And when I attempted to use iPhone to send a file, it couldn't even find any device, all it was doing was searching for devices all the time and nothing came out. It sounds a lot like your phone was jailbroken or hacked to unlock it before you updated.

my iphone 4S went black this morning after making a phone call and the phone will not turn on. what is wrong with my phone?

I switched the usb port and did the whole recovery holding of the buttons ect... And it worked, the computer detected the phone and i was able to click restore. However, the computer says preparing iphone for restore and it is still doing the restarting thing where the apple fades away and then comes back like it is restarting. If i can somehow get past this i will be able to go back to factory settings and resolve my problem, but this is where i am stuck.

I was a happy owner of my original iphone and ever since I switched to iPhone 3G, I am so frustrated with iphone 3G. First, the battery really *****. That we all know, and it seems nothing we can do about it. But what about the constant crashed that happened so often? It's been a couple of times that when I tried to launch an application (even apple's own one), the iphone reset! I also got the "No Music" in ipod error once in a while, and this absolutely seems to be related to the software. And the only "temporary" fix of this error is to restore the iphone. When I used original iPhone for 7+ months, I only restored it once. And this iphone 3G I already restored it more than 10 times. And I don't know what's going on but each restore takes at least 2 hours What's wrong? Moreover, whenever I connect my iphone to itunes, it will go backup, and backup will take an hour almost every time!!
So now I am with a phone that once in a while will suddenly got no music in ipod to play and need a 2 hours restoration. This is simply HORRIBLE! I tried to search online and it seems this error got no fix yet and maybe related to some applications. But still, those applications we paid and Apple got a commission from it. So even it's 3rd party, Apple should still be kind of pay a closer attention to it.
I am so sick of the restoration process. And each restoration takes so long also makes no sense, and my iphone 3g became so hot after each long restoration. There are even a couple of times the iphone just hanged and frozen during the restoration (I waited over night). And I have to unplug it (even it says not to) and reset the iphone, luckily the phone still functions. But I mean, what the heck? Buying something like this makes me so angry and frustrated. Don't get me wrong though, I have been a loyal Apple customer for almost 10 years now, owned more than 5 laptops and 2 iMacs and a couple of iPods and original iphone, but iPhone 3G is really the worst! I mean it got excellent potential, but all will be wasted if I need to keep restoring and backing up and run out of batteries so fast.
The most frustrated part come from when I went to "genius bar" at Century City, CA, the "genius" there was so impatient, every single question I brought up, he was like that's normal, that's right, that's what happened. So he admitted iPhone 3G battery *****, 3G reception is spotty, and the software got glitches. I was like, so what the heck are you selling this to me? So frustrated.

The long backups seem to be related to the size of the apps you installed, not the number. That's why some people with multiple pages of apps experience fast backups. There does seem to be a bug with the current firmware that can cause a crash when doing app uploads and syncs. This bug seems to be exacerbated by having large and many apps.
I was experiencing frequent crashes, but have no more - even with 70 apps installed - some of them large like the American Heritage Dictionary which is several hundred megabytes. I did the following:
1. I set iTunes to NOT do autosyncs every time I plug in. This setting is in the Itunes preferences.
2. I disabled the autobackups in iTunes for the iphone. I figured that if it did crash and it was going to take 2 hours to restore, why not just reload. The instructions are readily found using google search; it involves a command line setting. Anyway, the phone doesn't crash anymore since doing this.
3. I no longer install apps using the iPhone. I first install the app in iTunes and the I manually sync it to the iphone. I avoid doing multiple installs at once; at least for the large apps. Right click on each app and get its info from within itunes. If it is large, it is going to take time to backup.
4. I always first shut off the iphone and restart it before installing any apps in itunes. This clears any memory issues left behind from use.
I am going to continue to do these procedures until Apple releases a fix for the bugs relating to the apps.
As noted, since I took these steps, I have had no crashes. I was crashing at least once every 1-2 days before with the same or less number of apps. I too was a first gen iPhone user and was very frustrated with the 3G experience. Since doing the above, I am once again a very happy and productive iPhone 3G user. I know its a pain to do this, but the bugs will get fixed at some point. I would never go back to my old phones - they were just phones.
