What's your Discover Credit Line?

Just curious. I've heard that Discover is stingy with handing out high limits.I got my Discover More this September, and they gave me $3500. A bit stingy as my other cards are all between $7k and $12k. When the nice lady on the phone verified some information she asked if that was high enough. I was afraid to ask for more and said it was ok. Maybe I should have been bold and requested more?Anyway, I only spend about $200 to $600 on it per month, so the line of credit is completely sufficient. I hope though that they will raise it in the future. I've read on here that when people redeem $50 of their cashback for statement credit, this will often trigger a credit line increase. So, what was the limit of your Discover when you got it? And, has it been increased (or even decreased) ever since?  Mod Note: This is an old thread that has been revived. • What's your highest Credit Card limit?

    When I applied for the Amex Delta Reserve card, I nearly fell out of my seat when she told me that my CL will be $25,000. Is there a maximum amount that personal revolving cards cannot exceed? What is your highest CL and which card is it? American Express Delta Reserve: $25,000.

    Back in 2000 American Express listed on all Revolving Credit Cards $100k max... I would be surprised if they are not higher now... but as stated $25k seems to be the max for many people unless done by Amex... My father was at $25k on Platinum Optima and was declined CLI to $35k, but was able turn around and apply and instantly be approved for $10k or $15k (for get exact amount) on another Revolver... Over the years since 2000 he eventually had 6 total revolving cards with Amex totally $68k and 1 personal charge and 1 business charge (10k max ever charged on personal and $17k on business) of course then the credit crunch... lines drastically CLD. Bank of America is $250kDiscover used to be $50k, I think they are $100k now as someone posted but they also seem to be saying these days that they won't go over $15k without something, not sure what. Nordstrom is $50k but if you want to go above $15k you will most likely need to provide stuff. Citi is $250k i think Capital one is $25 or $30k I believe Neiman Marcus when they use to underwrite themselves they had no limit for "Some Customers" I mean they do sell a Private Plane and people have purchased them on Neiman Marcus card before... now it's with HSBC not sure if they can go million but I would assume Neiman Marcus would not want to loose those customers by selling the credit devision to HSBC. I have heard as high as $28k on Macy's Store but not sure what max limit is, hard to spend 10k in Macy's unless buying furniture or vacation packages I think!

  • What is your current credit card plan?

    Just posting this to hear what others have in mind.  Here is my plan. I have: QSQS1NFLArrivalCSPDiscover ItVenture x 2 1. My plan is to merge QS1 to QS then PC to WMCE (talked to csr yesterday, just have to wait until the offer is available) $10.5k2. Complete my spending on both Ventures to get my 80k points, merged together and conver to Venture 1 for no AF $30k3. Close NFL and move the $500 to Arrival4. Complete spending on Arrival and convert to no AF $6.5k5. CSP - keep it and use it $5k6. Discover -keep it and use it $800 Once the above is done, I will have 5 Cards with only one (CSP) having AF.My ultimate goal is to get the AMEX Gold Charge Card...BK will hit 5 yrrs in October/2015 but wont apply until Jan/2016.  Once that is done, no more cards for a least 5 yrs.

    Wanted Ink but recons didn't work out so I will have to try again later. Will easily hit 3k minimum spend on Platinum with a TV purchase (9 year old LCD finally died completely on me) and some medical bills. All of my other min spends have already been met with moving related expenses. Longer term, I realize I should've grabbed EDP instead of BCP and cannot PC to it. I will have to cancel the BCP and apply fresh for EDP, but that's at least a year away since I want to take advantage of the 0% APR. I may just get the regular Everyday and park my MR there it if I decide to commit 100% to UR. I will probably cancel PRG after the next airline credit to avoid the AF, after parking my MR on Platinum/Everyday. I will most likely sockdrawer Double Cash and use CSP/Freedom for nonbonus spend since I am consistently hitting 2 cents per UR or better on redemptions for travel we were planning anyway. I'm playing around with the Marukai as well and would like it to be my daily spender instead but we'll see how their payment processing and customer service go before I commit to that. Discover is mostly relegated to Discover Deals and bonus categories now. Sallie Mae is only for groceries until Freedom changes in Q4, and then only gas/groceries until 2016 since Amazon will still be covered in Q4...if I get Ink before then, I can buy gas/grocery/Amazon giftcards at Staples & Office Depot for UR and sockdrawer Sallie Mae altogether. Platinum is just there for the bennies - my most visited airports are SFO, LAX, and MIA so I hit Centurion Lounges all the time. I'll keep FNBO active long-term, even though it isn't that useful to me right now. It will be when my 0% APRs run out. My longer term lineup is something like CSP/Ink/Freedom/Platinum with Marukai/Discover/FNBO on the side; the rest downgraded and sockdrawered for AAoA padding.

  • What is your programming style with C-like-syntax langauges?

    EDIT: I decided this might be better off as a general style thread for C-like-syntax languages (C, C++, Java, ObjC, D)
    Everyone, what's the general style you use with languages that have a bracketed syntax like C does?
    What are the advantages to your style, as you see it?  For example, K&R style saves vertical file length, but Allman (aka ANSI) makes block starts more clear.
    A nice rundown of some common ones here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indent_style
    And, what is your preferred 'style' when it comes to comments in C?
    Do you use the C++-style '//' comments for single lines, or do you still use the C-style '/**/', and why?  Is there anyone that prefers C-style even if they don't care about supporting old non-C99 compilers?
    Second, and this is what I'm most curious about, do you often put short comments on the same lines as source code?  How often, and with how much of a space between the comment and the code itself?
    When writing comments on the same line as code, do you capitalize the beginning of the comment?  Do you add a period to the end?
    Lastly, while we're on the subject, what's your 'rule' for line length?  I like a 100-char limit, but 80-char is the 'standard', and some people use more than 100 due to a rise in large and widescreen monitors.
    No holy wars, please!  Just a few questions I've been pondering, it's all personal preference in the end
    Last edited by Ranguvar (2009-11-21 01:05:26)

    Still my biggest C program (pathetic, I know), this is a solution to K&R's Ch.1 Q.13, which you can read at the beginning of the file.
    It's a good example of my current style.
    http://repo.or.cz/w/tcpl.git/blob_plain … :/ch1/13.c
    I use tabs for indentation, and spaces for aligning code, to allow anyone to set their own tab width.
    I like 8-character indent in my editor, though.  The clearly defined blocks really help.
    Since the blocks are so clearly defined, I see no need for Allman-style:
    if (something)
    foo();
    bar();
    else
    bar();
    foo();
    I use a more K&R style:
    if (something) {
    foo();
    bar();
    } else {
    foo();
    bar();
    I use C-style comments for important single-liners and multi-liners, as such:
    * IMPORTANT
    For single-line comments that are descriptions of a following block of code, I use C++-style comments on their own line, capitalized and with some punctuation except for extremely short comments.
    I have no patience for compilers that can't keep up with ISO/ANSI C99 (*cough*MSVC*cough*), which is around 10 years old now, and was publicly in the works long before that
    // This next block of code kicks ass.
    while (awesomeness) {
    kick_ass("awesomeness");
    foo();
    And for comments that share lines with source code, they are quick lowercase sloppy notes in C-style.  The C-style makes them stand out more and just looks better there, IMO.
    No real rule on how far away from the code they are spaced, but usually a 5-char or so minimum, and I often align them with other comments.
    super_fuction(1, 2455, "foobar"); /* note to make this understandable, if possible */

  • What was your credit score when you did the shopping cart trick?

    Hey everyone! I have removed all but  two charge-offs and am paying monthly payments on one of those(Springleaf). My credit score is still terrible....a whopping 505....but, by removing 4 charge-offs it brought it up 36 points. It was 469. Gotta start somewhere. Lol. I have been reading about the shopping cart trick and wanted to ask y'all what was your credit score at when you succeeded? I have two judgments that I will file a Motion to Vacate this fall when I have them paid in full. Thank you very much. :-)

Mine is barely over 500.  Heck, I can't stay in the garden!  Just started gettin the SCT to work!  Have to many cc's. Maybe 18/19?  Got Overstock recently with a 16k limit!  I try to check out as a guest.  It seems to work better for me.  Got the Sportsman Visa the same way.  No hp's at all and around 28,250.00 in cl's.  Worth a shot or two.  Keep trying.  It took me about 2 months to get Overstock to work.  VS  should give you a card.  Probably a few more too.  Scores not excellent.  Not until it's over 800.

    Hi Robbie,
    The editor program is NOT under the organizer path as you mentioned in your last message. The actual editor program is at the location I gave in message #1 i.e. as follows
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    The one under the organizer is actually the Welcome screen which you have probably set up to go directly to the editor.
    If you go to the Open With screen I showed in message #3 and browse to the actual editor as given above, it should show up in your list.
    If it doesn't, then Windows is playing up again - and we have to take extra steps.

  • My experience with Credit Line Increase at Capital One

    Just thought i'd share my experience (and contribute for the forum) to help those who seek to increase their credit line.  This is just my experience but it seems to work. A month ago i applied for and got two new credit cards after 16 years of NO credit card useage and not so good credit.  I made sure to pay off all debts including student loans and colections accounts prior to applying.  First credit card was a Credit One card with a $300 limit.  I have since cancelled them since the low limit did nothing for me.  I also got a Capital One Quiksilver One with a $3000 limit.  During the month of owning this card i: -Charge EVERYTHING on my credit card.  Made very frequent charges.  I charged everything from a $1 coke at the vending machine to my $2700 rent.  Credit card companies have high charges for merchants, this is one of the main ways they make money.  They will love you if you pay everything with their credit card so long you make your payments in full.-Once you run your balance up as high as your comfortable doing, make a payment even if it's not month end.  Do not go exactly to or over your credit limit!-Make frequent payments.  I made 4 or 5 payments within my first month of having my new credit card.  $2700 charge, payment posted.  $400 in random charges, payment posted.  $250 in random charges, payment posted. Within 3 weeks of me owning my Capital One Quicksilver One, they tripled my credit line from $3000 to $9000.  Whoohoo! That's all.  Enjoy your credit card in good health and with good creditworthness.

  • Credit Line - Refund

    I will keep it as simple and short as I can.
    I made a purchase on my Best Buy credit card of $300 for a phone. Within the next few days I made a payment to the Best Buy credit card online for the phone purchase I made (Used my Suntrust debit card to pay it). It processed and was completed. I do have a balance for other products I have purchased in the past (which is on a 6 month finance).
    Since the employee credited it back, how exactly will my card get credited back since it's a credit line and not debit? I don't want the refund to pay back what I owe on my credit line.
    What actions can I do? Sorry, I am new to this.

    Hello GoProDavidLe-
    I am sorry that your purchase was not what you expected and you had to process a return, no problem Best Buy understands!
    Purchases made online when returned, are usually processed back to the original form of payment. If you are concern for the payment that you already process on your Best Buy credit card, you will need to speak directly to CitiBank. In my past experiences, the payment that I process usually is credited to my current balance. To reach CitiBank, I encourage you to call 1-888-574-1301. • What is your theory on what happened with ASUS Transformer Prime and BB?

    This is my theory:
    First preorder batch 11/22:
    BB opened up for preorders based on expected date of anticipated 12/9 ship date.  The buyers at BB that orders from vendors did not buy any preorder stock from ASUS in Champagne on first order. I gotta bleive that the reason that the Champagne prime is not shipping from BB is a "buyer" error. They filled their first allotment of preorders. That is why BB shiped out grey from the first wave of preorders. Other vendors got both- why did BB only get grey? The buyers always think they know what we want or will order and only ordered grey in the request to ASUS. They got caught with their pants down when Amazon cancelled the orders on 12/2 and EVERYONE affected jumped on BB.com and ordered the champagne which was available as the next wave.
    Amazon fallout 12/2:
    Best buy opened up another set of preorder allotment - 2nd wave, and got hit hard real fast with preorders that they were not prepared for, or had stock for.
    ASUS is filling initial preorder requests from the resellers in the order that the resellers requested too.  BB was offering that in the next wave of preorders, but they probably took too many orders at once, and they put in another order to ASUS around the 12/9 delay ship date and ASUS was not taking them at that time (delays due to Wifi reported) .
    ASUS 12/9 wifi report delay in shiping:
    ASUS was cought in a delay with reports of wifi range problems and either stopped taking orders, or recallled/replaced shipment with others.  Once ASUS took orders again from the reseller they are shipping daily based on the preorder backlog. Asus is responsible for the delay in accepting orders from vendors, and BB had a buyer error, by either waiting too long to put in the first wave of orders, or not ordering enough, and now they are in the back of the vendor reseller line waiting on ASUS to get to them.
    12/19:
    The date of irst ship came and BB shipped all it ordered from first wave and could not get anymore from ASUS in the second wave to cover the Amazon fallout system overload.  They were left in the back of the line of all other vendors becuse no reseller could get a second next wave fulfillment until all others got their first waves fulfilled.  The 12/9 delay kept next waves from being fulfilled, and that is why inventory is trickling into the other resellers and BB can only get a few more at a time.  BB ordered champagne on a next wave delay.
    The thing that bugs me in to no end is how is a person that ordered grey on 11/28 at BB still on backorder, but a 12/05 grey order has shipped and delivered?? This is not ASUS fault, That is poor business operations on BB.
    That is my "perfect storm" theory- what do you think?  What is your theory?

    That is pretty close to what I think happened.
    It does seem pretty clear that Best Buy never initially ordered and Champagne Primes.  I have combed through the threads at this site and others and haven’t seen one person receive a Champagne Prime from BB.  Meanwhile people who bought from other resellers like New Egg and Amazon have received Champagne Primes.
    The mismanagement of shipping out orders chronologically has to be maddening for the people who ordered the Grey Primes.  I do feel for these people that ordered the same exact product before others who now have their Prime, but will still don’t have their items.
    The communication from Best Buy had been terrible.  Screwing up the orders in the 2 examples are somewhat forgivable to me, but the miscommunication and what seems to be deceitfulness that Best Buy has exhibited is not.  They just seem not to care about the customer any more.  From my experience, prior to the release I was lead to believe my order would be ready to ship on 12/18.  Then it went on backorder with no real reason why.  Two (12/18 and 12/22) of three calls to customer service reps indicated that my Champagne Prime would still arrive by today (12/23), with the other call rep (12/20) saying she basically had no when my item would be in.  Then yesterday afternoon a post from a customer care rep on these boards confirming that I am basically hosed because I choose BB to fulfill my Prime preorder.

    Hi all NI web goers:
    I give 1.5 of 5 stars to NI's search function. Most of the times I got very frustrated when searhing NI's website. It returns a lot of entries for my search, but either none of them are relevant, or there are about 10 duplicate links to the same page, and multiply that by the # of unique links you get, well, you get the idea.
    So, what's your opinion on the search function offered by the NI website?

    I'm using TestStand 4.0 and anytime I try to intialize my chasis this message shows up in my debugg viewer. I would appriciate any feedback. I have no idea what could be triggering this message or why it's worded the way it is.
    [4712] WARNING!!! 'Huh, you set a test object to itself... whats up with dat?' Line 601 in function  in file .\tstobj2\ObjArray.cpp

    You've hit what was intended to be an internal development warning, but apparently the warning macro used is not compiled out in the release.
    This has likely been there since TestStand 1.0 and is nothing to worry about. In most cases it indicates you've called SetPropertyObject or SetPropertyObjectByOffset to set an object that was already set in the specified location. This is a harmless NOP and the warning only appears in attached debuggers, but it "might" be an indication that you have made a programming error.
    I launched and exited the 4.0 sequence editor without seeing this warning, so I don't know if it is being triggered by your code module (or sequence, or custom step type, or custom UI, or custom process  model, ...) or another part of TestStand that you are using.  Chances are good that this warning does not indicate a functional problem. However, if you can reproduce it with a clean uncustomized TestStand install, I'd like to know how you did it.
    I've entered a corrective action request to remove this warning.

  • What is the best on line bill pay software for mac

    What is the best on line bill pay software for the Mac.  I just switched over from Windows and now realize Quicken for Mac doesnt have on-line bill pay (which in 2013 seems amazing to me).  I really dont care about any of the other features in Quicken beside the bill pay feature, so if anyone has any recommendations, it would be most appreciated.  Thanks.

    Most banks have purely website based bill pay systems.   I would ask your bank if they have one.   Those are more compatible, and more secure than third party systems.  If they are browser specific, then they are not secure.

  • What's your Favorite Movie?

    What's your favorite movie? I always enjoyed when Harrison Ford reminded us all to wear our seat belts when flying an unlicensed refridgerator through an atomic explosion. Great line huh? Something that came to mind during my viewing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I have silly quotes like this for most of my favorite movies I hope you enjoy them...
    The Anime Birdie

    Time for me to weigh in, and like GeraldRose, I have way too many to list, so I will explain why I like them so much!
    Superbad - I also find this to be one of the funniest movies I have ever encountered.  To top it off, I know a dude irl (well from online) who looks totally like McLovin.  Classic.
    The Changeling  (1980) - Good, older creepy movie.  George C. Scott delivers a sharp performance as a man entangled in a mystery that truly affects his life.  One of the few movies as a kid that scared the dickens out of me, without showing anything really.
    Say Anything - I am a hard core John Cusack fan, and I loved him as Lloyd Dobler in this movie.  It also was my introduction to Lili Taylor, who I came to adore in later roles.  This might seem like a teenage love movie, but it is so much more.  I highly recommend!
    Dogfight - The late River Phoenix and Lili Taylor are a delight in this film.  Set in the 60's Phoenix plays a marine on weekend leave, who is on a mission to find the ugliest date for a contest with his fellow servicemen - a "Dogfight".  He stumbles upon Rose, (Taylor) who is not exactly how he first assesses her.  A bittersweet love story.
    The Princess Bride - Robin Wright Penn, Mandy Patinkin, Carey Elwes, and Billy Crystal are just a few of the stars in this crowd pleaser.   It follows the story of Buttercup and her love for Westley.  This is not your traditional love story, but full of laughs and action!
    Empire Records - A genuinely guilty pleasure, full of great music and laughs.  Rory Cochranes turn as Lucas is brilliant.  Maxwell Caulfield of Grease 2 makes a delightful turn as a washed up songbird "Rex Manning". It's REX MANNING DAY!!!!  Also, one of my other faves Ethan Embry (then Ethan Randall) makes the role of Mark his own. First thing that I ever saw Seth Green in...he cracks me up.
    All of the Austin Powers movies, All of the LOTR movies, Every Kevin Smith movie ever made, ESPECIALLY his newest Zach and Miri...well you know the rest.
    I could go on and on. LOL!
