What's your model of choice for LED TV Samsung,Sony,LG,Panasonic or ect???

I'm asking this question because I was wondering if I should pick up a 2012 model or wait for a 2013 to arrive... Right now I'm looking @ Sony HX850 or LG 7600, Samsung 7100 series for the 2012 models... Not sure just yet about 2012 models... But the ones I'm curious about is LG 7400LA, Sony 900W @ the moment.

Personally not a fan of LG TV sets.  Love their appliances.
I am in favor of both the Samsung and the Sony choices.  I am kind of surprised at the other posting concerning about Sony Being horrible.  Every Sony electronic device I have ever owned has held up well to the test of time.   However, my last Sony TV I purchased was 9 years ago.  It does not get used as much anymore but it is in my basement and still looks good.  (CRT BTW).  My Sony 32" I gave to my brother in law when I got my plasma and even though it is 15 years old and is not nearly as bright as it used to be, it still looks decent.
However, Samsung has really stepped up to the plate in the last 8 years and is producing top notch TV sets.
One of my first tests I do on a TV before buying it is to look at them as side by side as I can get them and compare how black the black and how white the white is.
The second thing I look at with modern TV's is to watch some action scenes.  Football is actually  pretty good.  Watch for flutter along the edges of the ball when it is in the air and around the feet of the players.  A factor in this is the refresh rate.
Sometimes it can be hard to tell how good a tv will do at home from what you see in the store.  A lot depends on the signal quality.  I don't know what they push out on their displays but it is probably 720p.  However, they seem to always have some tv sets on different displays that show individual signals.  But the nice thing about the big wall is you can compare how they all handle the same signal.
I read a lot of reviews and take the all with a grain of salt.

  • What is the best Mac choice for creating pro-level art/graphics/animation?

I'm an artist who does a lot of work with Adobe Creative Suite CS5, as well as some video editing and lots of animation. I've been using a 2007 model 15-inch Macbook Pro for the last 4 years, and it seems like it's time to upgrade...it runs burning hot all the time, and the battery dies pretty quick when the cord falls out. It seems like the whole thing is running a little slow, which is probably because I have a TON of graphics/animation/video software on there, but I need each and every program.
My question is, what is the best new Mac to purchase to replace this one? I want to make sure it lasts as long as possible, and will be able to handle the programs I use now. My first thought is to get another Macbook Pro, because of the portability, and just add on all the higher RAM, etc to customize it. But my husband suggested looking into the Mac Mini, because it's a lot cheaper, and we're a little strapped for cash at the moment. Would that serve the purpose? Or is a Macbook Pro really the best choice for what I need it to do?
I'd love to hear suggestions from other artists or graphics people. What do you recommend?

For a "cash strapped" person, unless you already
have a monitor, one of the new iMacs may be
a better choice.  If you do have a monitor, I would
suggest the dual core i7 equipt MacMini.  Since you state
you are using CS5 stuff, most Adobe apps,
Photoshop for example, do not make effective
use of multiple cores.  Also, using any of the
Adobe products, regardless of which computer
you decide on, get as much RAM as you can afford.

  • What is your best messaging choice? Mail for Excha...

    Hi,
I tried Mail for Exchange, its very good but has some weaknesses. The same applies to Nokia Messaging.
Which do you prefere? Or do you prefere third party applications?
Or may be another phone brand?
    Thanks!

It depends.  When I had my E51, I used Nokia BBC.  But that only works if your wireless account has blackberry plan (as all data goes through blackberry.net, so a general data plan won't work).  Even with Always On, I was able to squeeze out 5 days on a full battery charge.  But when I got my N97, I wiped out the E51 and installed MfE on it to test the software in preparation for my N97.  At best, with Always On, the E51 lasted about 3 days.  Mind you, the E51 only had data and BB plans, no voice.
I've tried the beta Nokia Messaging app (email.nokia.com) that can "sync" all kinds of public POP/IMAP mail on my previous N95, and I was not at all impressed.  It hardly ever syncs correctly.  When it states that it is up to date, I see the email were old.  Gave that up after trying it out for a couple months.
I still use the built-in Messaging app that comes with S60.   However, for the longest time, I couldn't use it with netaddress.com or usa.net (same company) via IMAP.  You may remember that netaddress.com was the original free email service dating back to early 90's.  Starting with my 6620 all the way through my N95, the built-in Nokia Messaging app just can't connect to netaddress.com's IMAP server, even though other mobile devices, my desktop Outlook, and Outlook Express can.  Go figure.  Because of this, I was forced to switch to Google finally as my mail provider.
But now, GMail has a weird implementation of its mail system, as this is not Nokia's fault.  Whether on the built-in Nokia Messaging app or with Outlook, when connecting to GMail's IMAP, your delete action does not get obeyed by Google.  You have to move the message to the Trash folder.  Quite annoying.
For me, I use my N97's MfE to connect to my corporate mail, the built-in Nokia Messaging app to retrieve my GMail at intervals (works great) via IMAP, and Google's S60 GMail app.  Why would I want to use Google's native app?  At home I download all my mail via POP on my Outlook and archive them in the personal folder.  But once in a while I have to dig up some old email.  So I use Google's native app to search my "All Mail" folder whenever I need to find something.  Otherwise, it's just MfE and the built-in Messaging.  Works like a charm.  Free is always good in my books.
(If only Nokia can tell me what Exchange security policies MfE on S60 v5 can/cannot support...  /discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&thread.id=19037)

  • What is the best compression choice for importing audio?

    Hi
What is the best setting for importing audio into itunes?
    thnx

There is no "best", it depends on what is important to you.
If you want the same fidelity as the CD use AIFF, but this will result in very large files and reduce the number of songs you can put on your iPod.
If you want more songs on your iPod use 128 AAC. I wouldn't go any smaller for music.
If you want a compromise try Apple Lossless. Keep in mind if you have a Shuffle that Apple Lossless files won't work on that device.

  • What is a good software choice for me?

I'm new to this.  I have a website and need to make my pictures better but want as simple of a program as possible.  I want to be able to make the background super white, resize, and crop the picture.  Adding a border sometimes would be nice but isn't a must.  What would be best without being overkill?

That would be photoshop elements. It is designed for beginner's.

  • What is your favorite Mac software for making movies and photo slideshows?

I've decided that I can't stand working with iMovie - I could swear it's made by Kmart. Can you please suggest a better software to purchase that if much more "user friendly" and creates a high quality product?

Can you please suggest a better software to purchase that if much more "user friendly" and creates a high quality product?
    No.
using Macs since '86, I've seen PaintBoxes and Quantel systems at work, sit aside when Masters used Premiere Pro, I do own & use FCE… I have knowledge of Hyperengine, and Avid free …-
I never saw a simpler metaphor then "sorting slides" as in iM; most post we read here are, because people start to edit their movies with zero-manual-reading…- which works in 90% of cases…
and, iM supports the same codec as any miniDV camcorder (or even HD)… => not bit gets lost in quality…
more user friendly with high quality?
no idea...... (even with less quality…)
(iM has its hurdles and some real bugs, ask forum members Matti or Karl… but for me, the average user - no problems so far....)

  • What's your Favorite Encoding Settings & Tags Question?

    Happy Holidays folks,
I have some CD's to digitize. I am curious of the best way to do this ...
Q: What is your Favorite Encoding Settings for CD's for your desktop? IOS device?
    ALSO...
    TAGS with various formats...
Q: What encoding settings do YOU use for listening on mobile devices for CD digitization?
For me I am thinking that I will create 256 Stereo AAC files for IOS, but also then create .aif files to store for desktop players etc.
I didn't know that .aif's can store tag info....
It seems that .aif files can store the TAG info that come in through iTunes - but where is the info stored:
1 - right on the .aif file?
2 - just in iTunes database?
    3 - just Spotlight?
    4 - or ?????
If I copy the file to another hard drive on another computer - will it retain the tag info with aif?
I seems that when I try that save tag info with .wav format - that it doesn't store it - is that true?
I am curious to find out about tags with .aif - .wav etc.....
Also does Apple Lossless play on PC / Lynux?

    My favorite?  MP3 at 256.

Tag data is stored in the file.  This includes information like Title, Artist, Year, etc.
Some of the data you see is library data, not tag data, and is stored in the iTunes library rather than in the individual song file.  This includes things like Date Added, Last Played, Play Count, etc.
Also does Apple Lossless play on PC / Lynux?
Apple Lossless can play on a PC running iTunes for Windows.  iTunes does not run on Linux, however.

  • What's Your Favorite Game to Play?

    Hi,
Just curious to see, for those Blackberry users among you who play games from time to time, what is your favorite game?  For me, it is Ka-Glom.  Another favorite of mine is Word Mole.  Just wanted to hear from some of you and get your thoughts.
    Doc
    Happy Birthday America...

Doc I have had to delete all my games but Word Mole because of low memory. I guess that is my one biggest complaint on the Storm 1 is the low amount of Mb that comes on board. I assume there is no way to go into the MOBO of the phone and unsolder the memory chip and put a 500Mb chip instead?
    Happy Fourth to every one!!!

  • What are the 3-bit field choices for Hw_Arm_Sel in PCI-6601

    Hi,
I am programming our own driver to operate the PCI-6601. For our application we need hardware arm option. I know it is possible to use 2 counters for that, but NI-TIO should support also hw_arm. Although it is not explained in the registry document at all, after some tedious check in the DDK examples I found that this bits are located in the Gi counting mode register. I know the position of the HW_enable as well as the position of the 3 bits for pin sellect options. What I do not know is What are the 3-bit field choices for Hw_Arm_Sel . I contacted NI support but got no support. How can NI sell boards and when a customer who is not using LAbview or Measurement Studio or DDK, but is implementing his own driver is then so arrogantly turned down from NI? Also, how can NI publish just part of the registers the board support, and when a customer contacs and asks for some registers get not at all support? I can not foretell the missing registers, and it is pretty unprofessional to document just partly the registers of 660x devices. And on request you got nothing.
I hope someone from the community know about this Hw_Arm_Sel 3 pin options. Otherwise, there is just an option of error and trial. Or simply throw the board in the garbage.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Kirco,
I have some more information for you :-)
I haven't been able to speak to the developer who is the most familiar with TIO programming since he's out of the office, but I have come across his notes from when he was writing support for the DAQmx driver.
As I described earlier, the HW_Arm_Sel bits don't select a connector I/O pin, but an internal trigger signal. There are seven internal trigger lines, and the HW_Arm_Sel bits map directly to the internal trigger signal: 0b000 - 0b111 map to 0d0 - 0d7. In order to route an I/O pin to an internal trigger, you must also write to a few more registers.
From what I've read, there are two more register families that need to be programmed: TG_x_LevelEdgeReg and TG_x_CombinationReg, where x is the internal trigger number. In your case, you only need one pin from the I/O connector to be your arm start trigger, so TG_0_LevelEdgeReg and TB_0_CombinationReg will suffice for your application.
    TB_0_LevelEdgeReg :: Offset 0x660
TG_0_LevelEdgeReg is only 8 bits wide, and maps as follows:
    7..6: EdgeMode
    5..0: LESel
LESel selects the I/O connector pin to use as the source for the internal trigger signal. 0d0 - 0d39 will select the I/O pin of the same number. NB: behavior for TG_x_LevelEdgeReg is more limited for triggers 1-7, and only a small subset of the I/O pins can be selected for those trigger signals. Trigger 0 can use any I/O pin. Setting these bits to 0d63 forces the trigger source low, and can be used as a way to 'unroute' it when you're finished with your program.
EdgeMode determines whether the TIO will detect an edge of the incoming signal, or just pass the signal level straight through. When detecting edges, it will latch the signal and generate a single TIMEBASE3 pulse instead. 0b00 sets level mode; 0b01 sets rising edge; 0b10 sets falling edge; 0b11 sets either edge.
    TG_0_CombinationReg :: Offset 0x6A0
TG_0_CombinationReg is 32 bits wide, and has three fields of interest:
    19..16: CombFunction
    5..4: CombTypeB
    1..0: CombTypeA
CombTypeA controls which trigger subsystem to use as the source for the trigger signal. Since you're coming from an I/O pin and using the edge/level subsystem, you must set these bits to 0b01.
CombTypeB is similar to CombTypeA, and although you won't be using trigger B, set it to 0b01 to be safe.
CombFunction performs a simple logic function on A and B. Since you're only using a single I/O connector, you only need the A output, so set these bits to 0b1100.
All of the other bits should be set to 0b0.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to test these statements since my test machine is currently being used for another research project. Please let me know what happens if you decide to test.

    hi,
It depends on your requirement. Base on my experience, VM or website all could meet your requirement. From your description, You could use azure website to host your php website (http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/documentation/articles/web-sites-php-configure/).
And you could use website auto scale feature in the future. I suggest you could see their comparison (http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/documentation/articles/choose-web-site-cloud-service-vm/

  • What ipad model is better for downloading books?

Hello, i want to buy an Ipad, but not 100% sure what ipad model is better for downloading books. i travel a lot and often find myself in the places where wi-fi is not reliable. Any tips are most welcome!

iPad Mini. Both iPads are fine for books, but the Mini is even more portable, and the page size is ideal of reading books. I've had both; the Mini is better, for me. If you have the chance, visit your local Apple Store and try out the units on display. Then, you can determine which is right for you.
If you read lots of emagazines, give the iPad Air a chance. The Air has a larger screen, and that means things will be less cramped. Apps like Flipboard perform well on both devices, but the Air is roomier and easier to navigate.
