What Satellite P100 series includes P100-106?

I have toshiba satellite p100-106. On the back of the machine my model is PSPADE-018010G3.
When I want to check bios version or some other software or drivers it writes under p100-106 section: what's your model PSPA0E, PSPA3E, PSPA6E. But there is no PSPADE like mine is. I've checked it 5 times and it's not 0 it's letter d on my notebook.
What to choose?
Thanks

Hi
I am not 100% sure but I presume it works on this way:
Your notebook is delivered and preinstalled with Vista operating system. Your OS is complete and new. I do not believe that you will find any update in this short time. BIOS is also the latest one. Other units (Satellite P100-PSPA0, Satellite P100-PSPA3 and Satellite P100-PSPA6) are WXP units and all of them are Vista supported. Because of that there is priority to give support for those units because of Vista installation.
When new update will be available for your unit you will find it under http://pc-support.toshiba-europe.com/vista/ but at the moment there are no updates available.
What to choose? Nothing! Be happy with your new toy.

  • What's new in BIOS 4.50 - Satellite P100-332

    Hi, a
nyone know whats the new functions on the new BIOS 4.50 for Satellite P100-332? Cause i try to click on "Toshiba Bios information" and he just loop again to the same web page... Is there anyone that knows whats new? or in a log file?

    Hi guys
I can tell you that this a old story and I read about such stuttering long time ago
Many people have reported that this issue could be solved by BIOS and nVidia driver update!
This is also mentioned here in this Toshiba FAQ:
[New video driver and BIOS eliminates video 'stutter' during game play (Windows Vista) |http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1924 764xml&sliceId=&dialogID=69796173&stateId=1 0 69794207]
So there is a solution, definitely!

  • Satellite P100-196 - Does Bios (4.80) includes the EC/KBC update?

Does anybody know whether the Satellite P100 BIOS update (4.80) includes the EC/KBC update? I downloaded the BIOS from this website and installed it but it does not show whether the EC/KBC has been updated as well.
If there is a seperate update for the EC/KBC where can I download it?

    Hi
As far as I know the EC/KBC rewriting disk is available for ASP technicians only.
So you will not find it separately for download on the Toshiba driver pages.
Only the BIOS is available for download and usually the EC/KBC should be a part of the BIOS update.

  • Double Beep at regular intervals on Satellite P100 series

    Hello,
    I just bought a Satellite P100 Notebook.
The Notebook makes a double beep every few minutes, even if I unplug the power supply.
When I turn it off, the beeping continues.
The speakers don't seem to work, even though the volume settings are all on.
    Thanks for some help,
    Cheers Larso.

    Hello Larso
Did you install own OS or you use already preinstalled factory settings?
In my opinion those things should not happen and if I were you I would contact local dealer and confront him with those issues. The unit is new and before you start any kind of troubleshooting check this with dealer.
The only thing you can try is to preinstall unit with recovery media. On this way the OS will be clean preinstalled and you can check if the problem persists.

  • How to reset the BIOS to solve a problem with DVD burner on Satellite P100

    Hi
I am trying to reset my cmos to solve a problem with my dvd burner.
I was trying to run an old game that I own that was protected by starforce and ran starforce nightmare with has made the device completly inoperable.
After much searching I have heard to reset cmos.
I have treid through debug and nothing happend. I don't really want to open up the laptop and pull the cmos battery out or leave it for a month until the cmos battery runs out.
Is there any advice on what I should do.

    Hi
What you want to do is simply not possible you said that you had some problems with PCs and you fixed it.
That's great. But a PC is simply different and cannot be compared with the notebook
    > I was trying to run an old game that I own that was protected by starforce and ran starforce nightmare with has made the device completely inoperable.
According to your statement above you CD/DVD drive issue could be related to the installed starforce nightmare. I dont know this but I presume this software/application has changed or destroyed the CD/DVD drives firmware.
Sorry but I see only one way to get it working again You have to contact the ASP in your country. Maybe a technician would be able to rescue the drive
PS: your Satellite P100 PSPA6A series seems to be a Australian series therefore you should use the Toshiba Australian page if you need some drivers or BIOS

  • Need a BIOS flash boot disk for Satellite P100-240

I need to be able to flash my Satellite P100-240 from a bootable CD.
The only BIOS I can find on this site needs to be run from windows.
Ive seen BIOS 4.40 for P100 on other Toshiba sites, eg:
    http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2115 524xml&sliceId=&dialogID=56504155&stateId=0%200%20 56506013
But not sure whether that is appropriate for P100-240.
They seem to be completely differently named. Not sure if thats a country based thing.
Will the BIOS in the link mentioned be ok to run on my p100-240??

Your notebook is NOT US series but European series and you have to use the BIOS from the Toshiba European driver page!
The wrong BIOS can damage the notebooks BIOS ROM module!!! And this would lead to the point where you wouldnt be able to boot the machine!!!
Therefore you should ALWAYS use the BIOS designed for this notebook series!!!
Furthermore you will not find any traditional BIOS updates on the Toshiba page!
There are only windows-based BIOS updates and you could update it ONLY from running windows OS.
If the notebooks BIOS cannot be updated from the Windows OS then you have to contact the Toshiba technician and have to ask for the help!!!
This is everything what you can do

  • Satellite P100: Can I connect two external monitor to VGA & DVI port at the same time?

The Satellite P100 comes with two external monitor port. A VGA and a DVI. Can you have have two external monitor working at the same time? Can you have two external monitor as well as your internal display working at the same time (for a total of 3 display at the same time?
Here is what I have confirm:
Internal display + DVI connector display
    OR
Internal display + VGA connector display
    Is it possible to have:
DVI connector display + VGA connector display?
    OR
DVI connector display + VGA connector display + Internal display?

As far as I know this is not possible and you can use either DVI or VGA port.
For signal output can be used only one port for external display.

  • Satellite P100: No Windows Vista CD but only Recovery CD

Hi I recently purchased a toshiba satellite P100, but it doesn't seem to have come with a Windows Vista disk, just preinstalled Vista.
The laptop is running fine at the moment, but I'm a bit worried that if something goes wrong in the future i'll have no way to reinstall the OS.
The laptop came with a recovery disk, and I'm not sure if Vista is included on this?
If not is there anyway I can make a copy of vista from the one installed on my HDD?
    Thanks

    Hi,
dont worry, you dont need to make a copy of your HDD since you already have a vista on your recovery media.
If you got problems with your system and you want to re-install it, then backup all your data to a external media, put the recovery in your CD/DVD drive, boot from it and then just "recover" or "reinstall" your system. The recovery process is working automatically and you will have a "factory-like" installation after recovering your machine.
Hope I could explain it to you... ;)

  • Windows 8 Upgrade on Satellite P100-160 - No Sound

    Hello everyone.
    I own a Satellite P100-160 {http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-p100-160/}
I decided to upgrade the machine from Windows Vista to Windows 8.
The machine works o.k. apart from the fact there is no longer any sound.
It seems that windows 8 does not have the correct sound drivers.
Can anyone help me out with a solution?
The laptop is in good working order, and apart from no sound.
    Thanks
    colesdav.

Hello, thanks for your replies so far.
Just in case anyone else out there has tried to move to Windows 8 on an older laptop I will tell you
What I have tried that did NOT work.

None of the above suggestions / drivers worked.
The drivers all did install but ... no sound from the Laptop.
I accept this is an old laptop but it is in mint condition.
Here is my solution to date.
I bought a Sound Blaster X-fi Go! Pro external USB Sound card from Maplin U.K. yesterday.
It works and the sound quality is great!
I am currently using an external speaker ... but I may try to install the USB sound card inside the
Laptop and see if I can rewire the speakers ...
Here is a link to the USB Card.

By the way I have managed to upgrade 3 of my 4 laptops from Windows Vista /7 to Windows 8.
Here is what worked with comments.
Toshiba Satellite P100-160 - Vista to Windows 8. Only problem = No sound Driver.
Toshiba Satellite L300D - Vista -> Windows 7 - Windows 8. No problems at all.
    HP G62 - Windows 7 -> Windows 8. No problems seen yet.
The only machine I cannot upgrade is an HP Envy 15-1060ea due to notebook specific ATI Radeon 4830 Driver.

  • Can I install WXP Professional on my Satellite P100?

    Hello
I have the Satellite P100 - PSPA3C-SD300E laptop and I need to install Win Xp Pro
The laptop came with Win XP home but I need to use a few programs (Microsoft Virtual PC) that require Win XP Pro
Does anyone know of any known issues of using XP Pro on this laptop? I am going to take a guess that there are no issues since it is only 3 months old but I wanted to check.
It would be great if anyone has any views as I intend to upgrade tomorrow
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
If you want to install WinXP Pro you have to install firstly the OS and then all the Toshiba drivers and utilities in the right order.
The Win XP Home and Pro uses the same drivers. The difference between Pro and Home is not very big. The Pro has more administration and configuration functions which you can control yourself. The Home version was designed for common Windows users.
Anyway, what you have to do is to install the drivers after the Os installation and you should follow the installation guide line which you can find on the Toshiba driver page.
    Good luck

  • Satellite P100 does not boot up using Intel WLan 5300

Has anyone replaced the Satellite P100 with one of these Intel WLan 5300 card.
Using being when I plug it into the pci slot and boot up my lappy, nothing happens.
However when I plug my Intel Wlan 3945abg card back in everything boots up fine.
    Whats the problems??

    Hi
I think you used simply a not compatible WLan card
As far as I know the notebook has been already equipped with a miniPCI WLan card and according to your posting the notebook is running properly using the previous WLan card
If you want to solve this issue -> use the supported WLan card!

    Hi
Hmmm what to say. Sounds not good and in my opinion it looks like you have updated the notebook with a wrong BIOS or something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure
Are you 110% sure you have used the right BIOS??
It seems you will be not able to solve this issue yourself without any additional help from notebook technician.
In most cases the BIOS must be flashed again on special way
For me its clear You have to contact the ASP to get rid of this issue

  • Satellite P100: Graphic card Issues

I have had problems with overheating... but before we get into that,
How can I figure out exactly what model I have?
I know I have a P100, but I'm looking on the bottom of my laptop and it offers no clue as to what type of P100 it is.
I want to know because I'm trying to find the most recent display driver for my laptop, which has a 7600 GeForce Go.
Also, I have very severe problems with overheating, and my laptop shuts down automatically when I run even the most basic of video programs for too long.
I want to clean up the dust in the heatsink/fan but I have no idea how to open up the laptop to do it.
This is a lot of issues for one post so thanks for any help.

    Hello
On the bottom side there must be a label with model number. Can you find it? can you post model or serial number? Anything?
What to say about overheating? Satellite P100 is older notebook model and I can imagine that dust blocks cooling grill and notebook hardware cannot be cooled down properly. The best way to make notebook clean is disassembling but you do not have maintenance manuals and you should not do this alone. All you can do is to use vacuum cleaner.
If you want to do this on professional way, contact service. At the moment try to place notebook a little bit higher, maybe on 4 CD boxes or something. So you will have more distance between desk and your Satellite notebook.

  • Satellite P100-160 - Keyboard fault

I have a Satellite P100-160 which was working fine but has gradually become unreliable. Initially I blamed PKZIP v9 since it was the last thing installed before the system started to go downhill so I uninstalled it. But alas it was not to blame. It looks now like a h/w fault. I have a couple of problems related to this.
When the keyboard locks up it is stone dead. Nothing. No keys at all work. Not even the CapsLock, NumLock or power On/Off button (you can hold it down forever). Typically after a failure I have to close the system down using the mouse, but at the last gasp the mouse pointer also freezes and then I have to let the battery run right down to regain control (wasting a couple of hours). I am reluctant to switch off by removing the battery.
Is there a system reset button hiding somewhere? Or somewhere to prod it with a sharp stick?
The problem is clearly getting worse. BIOS reports no faults. After a full power down by running out of battery it usually restarts OK with the usual warnings and will run for a while before the keyboard locks out again. But this last time the keyboard was stone dead from the very instant of bootup. I could not move the cursor on the SAFE mode boot screen. So after the timeout period it tried to boot Vista. This got as far as having a very faint "(c) Microsoft Corporation" visible in the lower middle of an otherwise black screen and stopped. It is currently sat waiting for the battery to go flat again.
Ideally I would like a few suggestions on other tricks to try and especially on a quicker way of regaining control when the thing goes belly up that is faster than leaving it running until battery failure. I can keep it low on battery but it is getting really frustrating since the thing will usually work for just long enough to recharge its battery and then die horribly losing all keyboard input again. System diagnostics find nothing wrong up to the time it stops working. There doesn't appear to be a standard external old PS2 keyboard connector on it.
You can still run programs when the keyboard is dead in the water provided you don't want to type in any text. And the PC is visible across the network - except in the most recent incident where it didn't get as far as starting Vista properly. And may never do so again unless I can plug a working keyboard into it.
I couldn't spot anyone with similar problems in these forums, but would be grateful for any tips on what else to try. I would particularly like suggestions to make fault finding a bit quicker now that the fault is recurrent. It is under warrantee but it would be inconvenient to be without it for any length of time.
    Regards,
    Martin Brown

It is a strange sort of lockout. I don't have a USB keyboard, but I have a hunch that if I connected one it would work. I may get a chance to try this next weekend.
I have established that I can still type stuff if rather tediously by using cut & paste from the CharacterMap utility. This is actually useful since it allows work in progress to be manually "saved as" new filename shortly after the keyboard latches up and dies. It just failed again :(
It is very annoying that the power off button is also deactivated by this failure mode.
I don't really want to go right back to factory settings and then have to bring it back up to spec again if I can avoid it. I strongly suspect it is hardware related. Although similar but not identical problems have been reported with some older Toshiba BIOSs & Vista and this one is a PSPAAE with BIOS v3.80 where as the latest version for AAE on offer is v4.30-WIN. It is with great trepidation I am considering applying the BIOS upgrade. It could easily be a Vista vs Toshiba power management issue. Failures do seem to be correlated with me taking a tea break (so that the suspend/powersave/screensaver are invoked).
The Toshiba manuals refer indirectly to there being a reset button you can press with the point of a biro, but there is no illustration of where the reset button if it exists has been cunningly hidden. This would be preferable to waiting for its battery to run down after each failure. Any ideas where it is hidden please?

    Martin Brown

  • Satellite P100-347 - problem with shutdown during gameplay

i have a problem with my Satellite P100-347(pspa6e)
After about 10 minutes playtime with games like battlefield 2, the SIMS2 and so on.. my pc shuts down...
I suspected it was shutting down because of high gpu or cpu temp...
i could feel that my notebook was hot, but after playing for a while its normal...
so i installed HWmonitor to check my gpu,cpu and hdd temp...
    this is what i shows:
    THRM: 61.C - 141.F
    CPU: core0\1 - both 64.C - 147.F
    GPU: runs at stable 85 - 90.C
    this at normal use...not games....
    HDD: 39.C
Something has to be wrong!! gpu temp has to be too high?!?
i have tried a fresh OS install....
thnx for all answers and help!

    Hello
I agree with Akuma. The fact is that suddenly shutdowns are mostly caused by too high temperature and shutdown is actually reaction for ??hardware protection??.
So what you should do is to clean up the cooling grill.
There is just one problem: if this should be done properly the notebook must be disassembled. So the question is how you want to do this?
At the moment, try to place your notebook on higher position, maybe on 4 books to make more distance between the notebook and the desk. I just hope the air circulation will be better and you will be able to play a little bit longer. Please test it and let us know what will happen.
