What screen protector do you use?  Do you like it?  Looking for a clear one

I recently purchased an iphone 4, and I'd like a screen protector for it. I have a tendency to accidently put my phone in pockets filled with change, golf tees, keys, and all sorts of scratchy objects, and I'd rather not risk it.
The choices seem pretty limited actually.
AT&T sells a clear one for ~$10. How is it?
Top rated one on Amazon is from Splash. Anyone use that one?
Invisibleshield has just horrific ratings. Out of 70 purchases, 47 have been 1 star/5
I'm interested in:
Clear
Inexpensive
Doesn't cover the front facing camera
Any recommendations?
PS: (I know this question has been asked before, but not since august, and inventories have changed since then)

What you say can be true about the zagg invisible shield, but do you have the orange peel effect? Many people seems to have problem with this, and I find my self annoying with the orange peel effect. Sure, it may stay clear but you have to keep wiping them as they tend to get greasy over time. I've used bodyguards screen protectors (same exact material used by zagg, and is also a wet type, but they now have dry applications as well). And I did not like the fact that once they were fully dried, sure it stays clear, but once you touch your face with it, and use it over time, surely it will get grease on it and you will have to clean it out.
I highly recommend powersupport screen protectors, they are really good and good quality. Right now i'm using my first set of HD anti-glare screen protoctors and I have installed it so well that I don't need to take it off. Of course if you happen to get some dust in it, all you need to do is use a tape and stick it on one corner to lift the screen protector and use another set of tape, roll it (sticky side out), and run along the screens and the screen protector where the dust is sticking and surely it removes the dust.

I have a dialogue box that will not go away and it seems to have started when I upgraded to Mt. Finally there are two boxes to click.  One says not now.  If I click on that the box goes away for 2 to 3 seconds and then pops back up and WILL NOT go away.  If I click on the second box, Install, it says  The software is currently unavailable.  To install a Java SE 6 runtime later, open Java Application again.
My confusion here is that I have no idea what the java application is, When I click "okay" on that box, the original box pops us again and WILL NOT go away. CGoing to the apple lega web site was no help.  My solution so far has been to drag the dialogue box as far to the lower right and out of the way as far as I can.  Help.

Does this happen immediately after you log in? If so, one of your login items is probably causing it.

  • Background data usage: what draws data when you're not looking?

I have "Fetch New Data" turned off; and I have Wi-Fi at home; and I don't use the 3G connection that much during my work day for fear of cracking my fairly small 250Mb cap. I track it reasonable closely on the iPhone, and in any case I can download my carrier's day by day figures as an extra check.
And so on average I only get through about 2Mb per day on 3G as measured by my carrier (I find the iPhone tends to underestimate it slightly).
+Until yesterday.+ I didn't use the iPhone any obviously different way, but my carrier says I used +180Mb during the day+. And even weirder, the iPhone thinks I used around 340Mb yesterday (so clearly my carrier cannot be completely wrong).
Now I have some overage fees to pay (about US$50) and I'll have to stop using 3G until the billing cycle ends (luckily just three days away)
Anyone experienced anything like this before?
Anyone know what may have caused it?
For example, could Mobile Safari be stuck on an auto-refreshing page and consuming data in the background?

    CTmac wrote:
I think you are on to it with the self refreshing idea. I am an American user, so our data plan is a little different. We pay a flat 30 dollars extra each month for unlimited data, so nobody tracks usage. But I do know that safari updates mobile pages every 15 seconds on some sites(espn, nfl etc). I would suggest resetting the phone to ensure your safari isn't keeping a page open. You should also look for any apps you have added that may be auto refreshing, weather and sports apps are the most notorious. Good Luck.
I actually checked my Safari history... and there's nothing for that whole day. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I did surf some pages that day, so that's a bit screwy in itself.
I'm going to try and see if the carrier can pull some logs from somewhere. It's a long shot...

'Music' displays but won't play. Settings appear correct and iPhone (3G)  is selected for output.  Startup screen intermittently displays with the lower pause/play volume bar for no clear reason..... developed at the same time as play failure.  Ideas????

    Thank you for the replies.
Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>>   > II   <<I,   plus volume slider)  on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged.  When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere.

My ipad 1 is stuck on IOS 4 as these IOS 5 update instructions do not work. When I use itunes update the software looks for an IOS 5 software update file and the apple site doesn't seem have one anywhere!

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • What screen protector and case will you be buying for your new ipad (3rd generation)?

    Hello!
I'd like to know what types of cases people will be buying for their new ipad this coming Friday as well as what type of screen protector/body guard you'd recommend.
I've been looking online trying to find places that would be able to ship before Friday, but I'm not sure which one to go with, there's too many options!  I'm definitely interested in a leather folio case though.
I've also been wondering what type of screen protector to put on.  I've seen the iVisor anti-glare, and I really like how it works, but seriously... anti-glare on a retina display?  I don't know... any thoughts on that or suggestions?  I'd greatly appreciate it!!
    Thanks!

I had an anti-glare screen protector on my iPad 2 and it degraded the quality of the screen so much I removed it. I have a clear skin on the back, which I like. It prevents scratches to the aluminum back and provides a gripping surface to hold on to. The iPad itself was slippery so that extra grip factor helps me. I use a smart cover for the front, because I like the features it has and the quick removability when docking the iPad. I also like that it automatically sleeps and wakes the iPad thereby conserving power. I chose the polyurethane smart cover because I had heard many issues with the leather covers fading/losing color and I couldn't justify the $30.00 dollar difference in price. I dock my iPad into an iHome theater device regularly, so using a portfolio type case would be too cumbersome to deal with. I do think portfolio cases or the otter box cases provide more protection, but they add more bulk to the iPad than I care to deal with. In the end it comes down to personal preference based on your particular needs. The items I have listed and the reasons for them fit my needs, I'm sure others will have different configurations that are specific to their needs. Hope this helps,
    Bob

  • What kind of screen protector should I use for my iPhone 6? Should I use one?

I'm looking for a screen protector for my brand new baby. To my dismay, it's hard to find one that "fits" because of the curved edges. I have ocd, not to mention that what isn't covered by a screen protector are usually crucial areas. Can anyone recommend anything? I always use a screen protector because I'm super paranoid. I throw my phone in my purse a lot where I feel like it will come in contact with one too many things that can scratch it. I don't have a ton of money to spend, sorry I'm a college student. Also, I don't like glass protectors. If I need one I'm looking for a film. Thanks in advance from a new iPhone 6 parent!

I have an iPhone 6 Plus but I thought I would try to help you out!! I use the Zagg Glass Invisible shield and I must say at first I loved it! It feels smooth and accepts input super well! It doesn't, however, go all the way to the edge of the screen which is weird, I agree. I've only had it for about a month now and its already chipped on the top edge by the speaker and its super annoying!! They will replace it for free but I'm not sure that I want another one that chipped so easily.
I've heard great things about the iloome screen mate and it goes all the way to the edge of the screen and covers the curved part. I know you said you don't like glass protectors but those are the best and if you get a good one you pretty much only need to replace it once a year so you pay a bit more up front but it lasts a lot better than just film ones. Hope that helps!!!!!

  • Which iPhone5 Screen protector are you getting?

I want to buy one, but I don't know which I should get. I want it to come before I get the iPhone on the 21st so that way I can apply it to the phone right away. But, I am scared that the screen protectors won't fit because the dimensions of the phone were just announced yesterday, so how did these companies know them beforehand?

I just bought and tried a product called Liquid Armor based on a recommendation a few days ago.  It seem's simple enough to use.  You simply wipe it on, let it cure, then buff off your screen with the included micro-fiber cloth.  I can tell there is something there but I can't say 100% that it is actually providing "additional" protection.  It does not change the appearance of the screen or add any "tackiness" to the screen.  The screen looks as good with it on, as with it off.  Exactly what I want as I do not want to use a screen cover on my iPhone 5 and iPad.  I think that with the gorilla glass they are already very durable and (having been a Zagg user before) simply want the beauty of my device to show without having something on it.  However, being OCD, I just have a hard time leaving my devices "naked".  So, I figure for the $19.95 I paid at CompUSA, it can't hurt.  And there is enough to treat multiple devices more than once.  Just an alternate consideration to the usual options.  I'll post more once I have gone a while with it and see how it works long term.
    Hope this helps.

  • What antivirus protector do you reccomend for macbook pro

I just got my macbook pro approximately 2 weeks ago and today noticed a window suggesting malware may have infected my computer. what antivirus protector does anyone suggest for this mac device?

None is needed at this time. Please ignore any internet popups or sites that tell you your computer is infected. They are just trying to exploit your fear.
    Helpful Links Regarding Virus Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on malware.
If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using ClamXav.

  • What can cause "Would you like to update the saved password?" When there is no password saved?

Lately, I am seeing this prompt for "Would you like to update the saved password?" when I log into password protected sites, where there is actually no saved password. Like the Bank of America site, I don't want the browser to save the password. What would cause this? I can just envision me clicking YES to update the saved password, then I have just somehow sent my password to hackers. Is this a known issue, or am i looking at a possible security breach here?

Firefox shows this notification if you use the Password Manager to fill the name and password and you change/modify the password that was previously saved. This can also happen if there is a script running that modifies the password field.
You may disable the remember password incase it's needed by doing the foll:
Tools-> Options -> Security -> Uncheck remember passwords for site.

Toshiba Volume Regulator (I did not find any difference in keeping this or not)
Toshiba HDD SSD Alert (This annoyed me but turned out the drive is fine, and I keep my files backed up)
Message Center (I dont want unsolicited messages)
Toshiba ReelTime (This is the equivalent of "Previous" in Android Honeycomb and ICS, but I dont like it here)
Toshiba Service Station (Helpful with drivers but heard a few laptops bricked by BIOS updates although reports arent proven)
Toshiba App Place (I dont buy apps)
    Services:
    TMachInfo (Who needs this?)
Toshiba Power Saver (I keep my power plan at maximum performance and my battery is out
Toshiba HDD SSD Alert Service (My files are backed up so the HDD may crash whenever he decides
taisregispinger (This has done its job the first time you went online, it reports its first boot to Toshiba)

  • Can I come into an apple store near me, buy an iPod Touch screen protector, and have a store employee put it on for me because I am very bad at putting them on.

Can someone tell me an answer?

I want to add that taking the inital measurement  you dont remove the sticky part until after you make you final measurement. Line the screen protector up, make a cut, then take final or adjusting measurements and make final cut. Then remove sticky back and place onto the screen. Be careful and slow lining up and placing the protector. Use a plastic credit card and smooth it on. Thats to keep air pockets from being displayed.
