I've always taken the insert key on my PC at work for granted. I just discovered that there is no insert key on my MacBook Pro. What serves at the insert key?

Whenever I type in Microsoft Word, I type over already typed words. I somehow unknowingly pressed a command/key, since Word wasn't like this before. But I did notice that this is the same result of the insert key on a Windows-based PC. The only problem is that I don't think there is a specific insert key on the iBook. Word has its own keyboard shortcuts. Open Word and click on Help. Type keyboard shortcuts in the search box and you'll generate quite a list of topics.

How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
What was the original Operating system if it was not XP?
I grasp the insert key is not working on your notebook.
What has changed since it was working?
As it would normally just be part of the keyboard driver you can try uninstalling and reinstalling that driver.
Have you ran MS Fix It to help overcome this issue?
Do you not have an insert key on the notebook keyboard?

Anybody know which key on the keyboard is the "Insert" key?

I'll assume it's at the top of the page. Some programs don't have it.

SnqKe, there is no Insert key to find for the Mid 2009 MacBook Pro.
Software such as [KeyRemap4MacBook|http://pqrs.org/macosx/keyremap4macbook> can allow the emulation of keys not on the keyboard. If it doesn’t already have an option to emulate an Insert key, the author of KeyRemap4MacBook is quite willing to add new options to the software — he has added a few on my request.
For FlightGear in particular, it comes with its own key binding files, so even without any key remapping software installed, you could modify FlightGear’s data/input/keyboard.xml file to change the key of the script that is normally bound to the Insert key.

In subcontracting material provided to vendor but no accounting document generated during transfer posting as material is valuated in your plant level.
In GR, you have following key entries:
BSX (Finished Goods): Dr
WRX (GR/IR): Cr
FRL (Sub. Contract Charges): Dr
BSV (Change in Stock): Cr
BSX (Raw Material/ Components): Cr
GBB u2013 VBO (Consumption of Raw Material/ Components ) :Dr

That only happens when you are running Windows in a Virtual Machine with OS X as the host. Shut down the VM and restart your Mac. Once the VM is running again and you insert a USB flash drive you should get that prompt again.

You do not tell us what OS version you have. In OS 10.8.2, do this:
Apple Menu / System Preferences / Language and Text / Input Sources.
Select the language you want. Mine is set to Canadian English.

Is it possible to use the Insert Key in Illustrator?

I have a massive block of dummy text set up in Illustrator 5 and the easiest way for me to change the dummy text is to overwrite it as one would when using the Insert function.

PC's usually have a physical 'Insert' key located in the same space as Home / Page Up / Page Down / Delete & End. This key allows you to overwrite text as you write. Wikipedia says it best "

Click to open Boot Camp and select the Keyboard in the window where you can choose to enable /disable the FN key

Depending on application, or game. For example on one application which I use daily
F1 = Help (nearly all applications use this),
F2 = Slpit screen
F3 = End
F4 = Expand
F5 = Find / Re Find
F6 = Change
F7 = Up
F8 = Down
F9 = Swap
F10 = Left (one screen)
F11 = Right (one screen)
F12 = Cancel
Again, DEPENDING ON applicantion, you have to learn from application. Some applications allow you to re-program those keys.

GetTransaction().validate(); - what happens if the Insert fails?

I am rookie in terms of development with ADF/Jdeveloper and I've got an error which I've traced to the following piece of code

am.getTransaction().postChanges();
DBSequence newAdId = (DBSequence)newAssociatedDocument.getAttribute("AdId");
int adId = newAdId.getSequenceNumber().intValue();
return adId;
"am" as you'd guess is an ApplicationModule
The return value of "adId" is -1.
The "ADID" in the database is controlled by a Pre-Insert Database trigger which fills it with a Primary Key value.
Now, it sounds like the Insert of the Row fails somewhere and hence the "adID" is -1 as I've read that in Metalink. Like, DBSequence initially populates it with "-1" and then fills it (if the transaction is successful) with the actual ADID value that was inserted into the database (behind the scenes using the RETURNING INTO clause).
But my question is How to Trap the Oracle Database Error that happens behind the scenes? Like it looks like the postChanges() is actually successful (no Exception raised, else it would have been cascaded back) and we actually get a "-1" returned to the Caller.
Would I be able to do an Oracle Trace and detect the Oracle error?
