What setting in Toast for creating a DVD-R master for replication?

I just Downloaded the new Toast 7 Titanium.
What setting should I use to burn a DVD-R to send in for replication?
Someone else said DVD-ROM UDF
There is also a "Make Video DVD from VIDEO_TS folder"
Which one?

Sorry peeps! haven't looked here for awhile... (been really really busy...)
Don't use either of those options unless you know what you're doing and you know what dvdsp is doing!
If the dvd-r is for replication then you should check region 7 to make the disc region all. It used to be checked by default but is not any longer...! Then when you format set the Output Device to Hard Drive and the Output Format to .img
Now in Toast you select Copy>Image File. Burn two copies at as slow a speed as possible. It's worth knowing, some say that writing at rated speeds is best but from the many many times I've seen recordable media issues it seems that writing slower solves the problem more than the other way around!
Doing that will mean that your disc remains Region All, unlike if you use a Build to the Hard Drive and burn with Toast. You can control the burn speed & you don't have to worry about removing the .LAY, .layout files etc.
Some versions of Toast are helpful, version 6.0.7 or later has options which will remove any files that shouldn't be in the VIDEO_TS directory for you, makes sure an empty AUDIO_TS folder is included etc but that doesn't help you much if DVDSP doesn't let you control the region flags with Builds to the Hard Drive. Using an .img solves all that.
If you use the Data>Advanced>DVD-ROM (UDF) option you should use DVDAfterEdit or MyDVDEdit to correct the regions settings. Then manually remove the .LAY, .layout, PAR folder etc that should not be in the VIDEO_TS folder.
If you use the Video>Advanced>DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS folder you still need to correct the regions setting but Toast removes all the other 'stuff' for you and adds the (empty) AUDIO_TS folder.
FWIW, when you Format & Burn direct to disc out of DVDSP it does as it's told. The .LAY, .layout etc files are removed (see the log) and the regions ALL setting is as you'd expect.

  • What is best techniques for Replication

    Hi.
I want to implement Replication for the database. So i want to know what is the best way to do this?
Is snapshot is useful for this?
What is the best, efficient and CHEAPER method to implement replication?
cheaper means, I do not want to use Datagard?
Any comment on this is appreciated
    Thanks
And hoping for your view on this

In what version and for what purpose?
Is there some rule here that I somehow missed that makes it a criminal act to name the version of the product you are asking about?
The answer to your question is version dependent.
It also depends on how close to real-time, whether the intention is transparent failover, whether the intent is a server that could be used for disaster recovery or whether the intention is for the replica to be a reporting database, whether you will want to implement objects in the replica not present in the original, whether you will want to do transformations and aggregations.
Go to http://tahiti.oracle.com, search for replication and read the basic docs.

  • What do you use for replication to your DR system?

    Hello,
I'm wondering what everyone uses for replication to their DR systems?  Do you use a hardware or software solution and which one?  Are you happy with the results?  We currently use MIMIX HA1 and have been having problems getting our audits to run once we upgraded to ECC 6.0.  There seems to be so many tables, that the audits cannot finish.
I am wondering if anyone else uses Mimix and has better luck on ECC?  Or do folks use something else and have better luck with it.
I appreciate any input you might have.  Thank you.

    Hi TJ
    We are running a i570 with 2 power 5+ and 15 GB's of mem.
But looks like you shud be ok on the hardware side. 1 cpu and 72gb is good enough to handle the audit
It takes us close to 5 hours to run the FILDTA on the production library. plus since we run it only once a week, we run it at level 30( 100% i believe)...
And yes, we run it from the traget side, as that is the mgmt system. you can't run it from the network system. Looks like your mgmt system is the source in your case.
There are a lot of thing which are unknown to us about your system/configuration.
The data group you are running in FILDTA, whcih had the production library could be having other objects as well, which would definitely increase the timings...
Also a factor would be the network connection between the source and the target...
Also what the release of HA lite you are running? We are running version 6.
Let me know if you have any other questions...
    Thanks

  • How can I tell what setting was used to create a received PDF?

I get PDFs all the time and I can't find a way of knowing if the PDF was created using Press Quality, Standard, Smallest File size other than just looking at it and zooming in.
Is there a menu item or trick that will tell me how this PDF was created?

The image was almost 9 inches by 7 inches at 300 ppi and I reduced it to about 3 inches wide in my document. I almost never blow-up images unless they can take it without losing resolution.
Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I went to preflight > sheetfed offset, clicked on Analyze and got lots of readings. The one that said "Resolution of color and grayscale images is less than 150 ppi. This might be insufficient for proper print results." is the one that threw me.
It's too bad that I just can't read how the file was created. Most of clients I deal with make PDFs and never look at the settings they use. I'm in the printing business.
I've just been looking at the PDFs sent to me and zooming in to see if they'll hold up but I'd really like something more accurate.

  • How to create a DVD.

    Hi all.
    I've imported a 1980x1080 25p video.
Now I'm working on a project with iMovie 11To then export to Compressor 4.
What are the settings to create a DVD with good quality compatibbile dvd home?
And 'possible to have a step by step guide to get it right?
    Thank you.

If you want to create and burn this DVD in Compressor, please understand going in that you'll only have a very basic menu. If you need more, then use iDVD (if you have it) or Roxio Toast. If you do use iDVD, ther's probably no need to use Compressor.
I would recommend you export a Quick Time movie in the Pro Res 422 codec from iMovie. Other formats are acceptable, but I think PR is more reliable.
As to quality, Compressor can do a decent job if you just use the Create DVD preset from the Batch Template. It will, however, be standard def, since that is what DVD is. Compressor will automatically re-size it to 720X480 anamorphic. If you open up the Preview window, you can set chapter markers.
Insert a disk into your drive and you should be good to go.
    Good luck.

  • Can't create a DVD

I am using premiere elements and created a film.   I burned a DVD and all was fine.   Now I added pictures and some music to the film and when I try to burn a DVD I get the indexing window and nothing happens -- even waiting for an hour.   So, what can I do to create a DVD or determine what is wrong?

    tomwarner364
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system?
What is your Premiere Elements project preset (new project dialog) and what are the properties of your source media on the Timeline being burn to disc. Is the intent NTSC or PAL and Standard or Widescreen? What are the pixel dimensions of those pictures that you have added? Does the addition of the pictures and music to the original Timeline represent a large increase in content or just a minor adjustment? What are the properties of the music that you added?
In the burn dialog  just before you hit Burn, what does the Quality Area say there for Space Required and Bitrate for the original and this latest content?
If you take the very same Timeline content, can you burn that to folder without issues?
Have you moved around any of the source media that went into the project before you made those additions?
    Thanks.

That Photoshop Elements 9.0.3 Update has generally been discouraged by the Photoshop Elements gurus. But, I am not going to factor that into this at this point.
This is what I would ask you to look at in the Elements Organizer 9 accessed from the Photoshop Elements 9 or Premiere Elements 9.
    a. Create your slideshow in the Elements Organizer 9/Create/Slideshow/Slideshow Editor. Then use the Output option of Edit with Premiere Elements.
From your description, you are probably using the Output Option of Burn to Disc DVD which will take your slideshow directly in the Disc Menu section of Premiere Elements 9. The preferred transfer of the Elements Organizer 9 slideshow to Premiere Elements 9 Editor is by the non wmv route "Edit with Premiere Elements" not the wmv route of Burn to Disc DVD.
Let us explore if any of the above is involved in your issue and then we will decide what next if necessary.
    Thanks.

  • What is the presets for creating NTSC_ Widescreen DVDs?

I have footage that is 1920x1080/60p and 1920x1080/60i that I will combine into one project to edit. First off, what project setting should I be using? I will be creating Blu-ray and DVDs. The Blu-ray quality looks great. BUT the DVD quality is not good at all. I understand I will be getting loss of quality creating DVDs, but not that much. When creating DVDs what is the preset for NTSC_ Widescreen_Dolby DVD? When saving a file to computer  - NTSC_ Widescreen, it has an advanced option where you can change the settings to get better quality. I am using Elements 12. Will this advanced feature be added to creating DVDs in the next version?

    Thanks for the reply.
12.1 Update was released by Adobe for Premiere Elements 12 around March 2014. It's obvious fix is related to the text styles issue specific to the Expert workspace. There are supposed be other perks.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2014/03/pe12-update-121-released.html
This update is free and is accessed only from within the opened project, using Help Menu/Update.
If history repeats itself, Adobe should be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements at the end of September 2014. No one but Adobe knows the feature set, and that type of information is released by it only at the moment of release of the new version. In the past, after the new version release, Adobe has announced its policy with regard to going to the new version from a recent purchase of the version that the new version replaces.
For a mixed timeline, I want to edit only one time and save to Blu-ray and
DVD. Which project preset Full HD1080i30 or AVCHD 1080p60 would be best?
DVD-VIDEO and the Field Order of interlaced frame rates are the concern. Do a mini test run to determine which works for you. DVD-VIDEO uses Field Order = Lower Field First. Your 1080i30 does not. It uses Upper Field First. And, there is my moment of pause. Contrast.... If the destination is Blu-ray, your interlaced source is going from and to an Upper Field First.
The project preset should be set to match the properties of the source media. There again the matter of priorities.
    But, when it comes to export and you have a choice of 1440 x 1080 HD Anamorphic 16:9 vs 1920 x 1080 16:9, go with the 1920 x 1080 16:9 which will not depend on a 16:9 flag to stretch the video to 1920 x 1080 16:9. Some players have problems with the 16:9 flag to stretch the 1440 x 1080 4:3 to 1920 x 1080 16:9.
Not sure what you mean by
Do you know what is the preset for NTSC_ Widescreen_Dolby DVD?
When you burn your Timeline to DVD-VIDEO widescreen on a DVD disc, NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD is the preset that you select in the burn dialog.
That will give you your Timeline in NTSC DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc (720 x 480 16:9 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second). In this case, the 16:9 flag stretches the video to about 856 x 480 for display after encoding. You cannot customize that preset.
Not sure where you are going on this
NTSC_Widescreen for saving to computer has advanced options, where you can
change quality 3 up to 5? Interlaced or progressive?. CBR? lower/higher
VBR, 1 pass or 2 pass?
No matter what file you send through the Premiere Elements Publish+Share burn to with the NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD setting, you are always going to get the same results (export properties) of the present
720 x 480 16:9 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second). In this case, the 16:9 flag stretches the video to about 856 x 480 for display after encoding.
If you want to export your Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive, you can use the Publish+Share/Computer/ Advanced settings. But, then you need to decide on your playback opportunities related to the specifications of the player.
Please review and then we can work through the details.
    Thanks.

  • How do I create a DVD with no theme, i.e., it plays what was recorded when inserted in the player?

How do I create a DVD with no theme, i.e., it plays what was recorded when inserted in the player?  Nothing extra, just the recorded content.

    Hi
    No Menu on DVD
    from. Mishmunken
How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options)
    1. Easy. Drop your iMovie in the auto-play box in iDVD's Map View, then set your auto-play item (your movie) to loop continuously.
Disadvantage. The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy. If you don't want your (auto-play) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the drop-zone (text needs to be black as well).
Disadvantage. The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time. Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage. One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software. Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn.
Disadvantage. you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way". Post-production with myDVDedit (free-ware)
    Tools necessary. myDVDedit ( www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager.

  • So many ways to create a DVD. What is the best?

Would love a little help here. First, every week I deliver a DVD to the local cable operation. It must have a menu so it parks itself until a timer kicks it on at the correct time. I edit in 720p then downconvert to SD when I create the DVD. To make matters worse, it feeds the system via a composite out. Yuch. With that info out of the way, what is the best way? I do not have DVD SP anymore, but I do have Toast Titanium, iDVD, and Compressor. I have been taking my master ProRes file and dropping it into iDVD with a menu of course. Tried Toast with mixed results. I like exporting right out FCP X to DVD, looks good, but on my home DVD player, it will not play but it will play on my computer and another DVD player. I am afraid to give that DVD to the cable company as it might not play. I have no idea why it will not play on my new household player. Anyway, what are your thoughts on how to creat a simple DVD to give to the cable company?
    Best.
    Tom

    Thomas Whaley wrote:

    then, something went wrong:
exactly for your purposes, the Share to DVD feature of FCPX is meant
no fancy menus, no options, straight forward:
you can add a graphic as customized background (eg, for a copyright note)
you can choose btw two 'themes' - black or white
autostart, or for you: menu first
and you can burn direct to disk, or create a disk-image first (what do YOU do?)
the resulting videoDVDs are fully standards-compliant …
    my guess:
    • you're creating a disk-image first (good) and burn that via Finder (wrong)
    • for unknown reasons, your DVDplayer doesn't 'like' your brand of DVD-r - test on a 2nd one/change brand
    • your internal disk-burner is 'dying' - that's how mine indicated its EOL: disks were only playable on that drive,  then no more burn/play only ... months later totally kaputt ....
    concerning 'best way'
I prefer iDVD as 'most convenient' + its many customizing options (=you don't need)
keep in mind, the max bitrate/best quality is accomplished in iDVD only with content length <60min
(content length: add menus play time!)
pretty sure, a professional could add the last 0.5% to perfection with other tools, such as DVDSP/Compressor
no hands-on experience concerning 'quality' with Toast …

A good place to start is http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip34.html
Also, do a search in this forum on HttpURLConnection. That class allows you to use POST method to send form data to a web server.
"Hidden" variables are only hidden in HTML. The HTTP that gets POSTed to the web server doesn't distinguish between hidden and not hidden. That is, the content you would write to the HttpURLConnection.getOutputStream() would be something like:
hidden=1&submit=ok(Of course, the variable names would depend on what the web server was expecting from the form.)
Also, be sure to set the Content-Type request parameter to "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"
