what settings are used to convert to pdf?

Hi geoffc39307434,
Are you asking what settings Adobe PDF Pack uses when you create a PDF file, or what settings you should choose in Acrobat when you create a PDF?
Best,
Sara

  • When dragging photos to desktop, what settings are used?

When a photo is dragged out of iPhoto and dropped anywhere in the Finder, what settings are used for that implicit export? E.g., what JPEG quality? It seems to export the full size.
Can't seem to find this documented anywhere!

In tests Old Toad reckoned that it was equivalent to about 8 on Photoshop's scale of 12.
Typically when I export via the file menu I select the highest quality. If iPhoto uses something less than that, then I'll stop dragging and return to the file menu export.
    Doesn't quite work like that.
If you have an edited photo then there is a single generation of compression applied. If you export at any setting other than Maximum the file will be smaller. At maximum the file will quite likely be larger - less compression applied to the data.
As to which is best to use? Depends on what you're using this jpeg for - but remember this, exporting via dragging gets none of the metadata you've added in iPhoto (Keywords, Location, titles, descriptions etc)

    TD

  • What PDF settings are used when creating DPS articles?

When you create a PDF file using Acrobat Distiller or InDesign you can modify settings such as font subsets, image down-sampling and compression which will have an impact on the final file size. Does anyone know what settings are used when articles are rendered in PDF format in DPS and can the settings be modified? Specifically, what type of compression is applied to images? If I were to place two images on a page, a png and a jpg with medium quality, would they be embedded in the PDF as is or re-compressed in another format and/or level of quality?

    Thanks for your help.
So images placed in an InDesign retain their original file format and are unzipped when the article is loaded in the app.
I'm assuming that if compression is applied to the original image files it can have an impact on performance. If you were to use jpeg files in a document they would need to be unzipped and decompressed. I've read other forum posts that suggest the iOS jpeg decompression engine is too slow to present a fluid user experience in a DPS app. The combined processing time of unzipping and decompressing jpegs files may steer me towards the png format.

  • Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?

Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?  Of course the GPS location feature will need to be on in order for this to work.  But the idea here would be to optimize battery life by disabling the 'call home' requests of apps.  The settings profile should also support downloads as I would like to download and allow it when I am on WiFi but not so much when I am using my cellular data.

No, this is not possible as the sandboxed nature of iOS would not allow any app to modify another app like that. Such a feature would have to be enabled by Apple as a part of iOS itself. You can submit feedback to Apple about the idea if you wish to.

When exporting to a DVD from Final Cut Pro X, what settings are there to make sure you making the highest quality DVD possible?

There have been a lot of recent reports of difficulties sharing to DVD, but haven't been hearing about unreadable disks. Posibly there was an encoding error. Or it could have been bad media (blank disk).
Does it play in your Mac?
What brand of disks are you using?

  • Making the move to 16:9, but totally confused about what settings to use!

Hi, It seems to me that since all new TV's being sold are wide-screen, it is time for me to stop making videos in 4:3. But I am completely stumped by the procedure to work in 16:9. I have shot my footage in standard definition, 16:9. The final product will be a DVD created in DVD Studio Pro. I would like the picture to fill a widescreen TV, and.... when played on a 4:3 screen, I would like it to fill the width of the screen and be letterboxed on top and bottom.
I think that I am correct to capture this footage into Final Cut Express, using Easy Setup, and choosing 'Anamorphic'. At least that gives me a 16:9 screen in FCE.
But can someone tell me what settings to use in DVDSP when I when I import that video? I tried to import Anamorphic video into DVDSP, and went to Preferences, and chose 16:9 Letterbox. I got a wide screen, but my footage came in as a squished 4:3 image. I'm totally at a loss, and would very much appreciate any help you can give.
    Thanks very much, Bob

Yes, Anamorphic is the Easy Setup you'd want to use in FCE.
When I say it's distorted, that means anamorphic is recorded to tape squished (much like how it imports into DVDSP for you) and that the format demands being unsqueezed during playback. Sorry, if I scared you.
The encoding settings are also available in DVDSP's Preferences under the Encoding tab.
Also - and this is the single most important element of this workflow - in addition to setting the default Display Mode to 16:9 Letterbox, be sure to confirm that this is not overridden (for whatever reason) after you've placed your clips onto a track. So check the Inspector and make sure Display mode is correct. (It's been known to happen once in a blue moon and, if not readjusted, will mean that your DVD will not display correctly on any proper setup)

  • What settings are required for DP_PROC_TY,CT_PROC_TY,TEND_TYPE

    hai friends
what settings are required for DP_PROC_TY,CT_PROC_TY,TEND_TYPE
    Thanks a lot
    Regards
    VinayKrishna

    Hi Vinay,
    1. For DP_PROC_TY  you need to give the transaction type or R/3 document type you want to use for creating direct material POs. Could be ECDP given in the standard or copy of which you might  have created.
    2. For CT_PROC_TY it is either PCTR or GCTR depending what you want to create local contract or GOA.
    3. TEND_TYPE can have BID, RFCR etc depending on what type of bid invitaion you want to create form sourcing cockpit or as follow on bid invitaion.
    Ragards,

What ports are used by itunes Match? I need to change my router settings.

Good question. The standard document is still mentioning MobileMe, rather than iCloud.
TCP 5223 looks significant ... but the a close check through the rest of the following document might also be prudent:
Well known TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products

  • HT4995 Internationally using Location Services without having data charges.  What settings should use on my iPhone 5?

I'm traveling to Europe and I want to use Location Services without having data charges.  What settings should use on my iPhone 5?  I want to be able to use Trip Advisor City Guides Application to tour around cities for free.  I have a Verizon International Plan for my trip, but it is still pricey.  I would like to keep my iPhone cell services on for incoming calls, but I want to prevent international data charges.  Thanks for your help!

You don't "choose" to use th 3g network.
If you have paid for it in your plan and 3g coverage is available, your phone will automatically use it when necessary.
3g provides faster internet speeds than 2g, so you can watch video or download stuff faster. Wifi is normally faster than 3g.
Your iphone gps is "assisted", meaning it uses network data to calculate your position.
Also, you would still need the network to download maps, directions etc as they are not on your device.

  • What techniques are used to create these images?

The artist who created the pictures shown on the links below uses Photoshop. Does anyone know what tools are used for this?
    http://www.chrisjordan.com/gallery/rtn/#plastic-bottles
    http://www.chrisjordan.com/gallery/rtn/#cell-phones

Did you click on each of those images to see them reach full size in Flash animation?
Here are crops from the bottles and cell phones at 100% resolution:
The Flash zoom-out and zoom-in animation is done in programming the code of the web page, as you can see by "Inspecting the Element" on the web browser page:
I cannot give you any further information or assistance, as I don't deal with web programming.
As far as I can tell, the "technique" used here is pretty straight forward:
Take a picture with a digital camera, then program the web page to repeat the image a bunch of times and display the zooming in and out in Flash animation.

  • Isn't there an app that can track what apps are using up your resources?

There really ought to be!  My battery time stinks, I have to recharge my phone all the time, it's I took it off the charger at 8:15 and it's down to 84% and I barely used my phone today.  I've tried every suggestion I found on here and it hasn't helped.  The one thing that COULD help is if there was some kind of task manager like in windows that showed you what apps are using which resources so at least I could tell if there's something running that is constantly using up all the resources and milking my battery.  This is really frustrating.  I just checked and my battery is now at 83% and it's been locked this whole time.  I'm sorry but that is not normal.

another symptom--after doing nothing but some light texting, she sent 30 mb of data in an hour.  That strikes me as being way out of line.

  • What reports are used to send PO, Conf and Inv from MM to SUS?

    Hi dudes
What reports are used to send PO, Conf and Inv from MM to SUS?
    Regards
    Raj Kumar

    Hi Raj kumar,
First implemting MM-SUS or EBP-SUS XI is mandatory. For sending a PO, it 's standard process. You have to define partner profile and once you create a PO system geneartes an IDOC with orders02 and send to XI from there goes to SUS.
For confirmation you have to run the report rpoddelvery report . this reports sends all the GR's to SUS.
