What settings create video that fills monitor or TV screen (Elements 8)?

I'm recording old TV movies in order to create DVDs.  Regardless of which aspect ratio I use on playback, the finished product doesn't fill the screen.  Any suggestions?

Steve,
I agree. That was why I was asking about the feed. It could well be that the material is really 4:3, or that PrE is not seeing the flags for Widescreen. If the latter, Interpret Footage should be able to correct this. If the material is really 4:3, and Widescreen is desired, then one has a couple of ways to get there, though none is ideal from a quality standpoint. One could Scale up 4:3 to fill the 16:9 Frame Size, and then effectively crop the top, bottom, or both. Forcing 16:9 with Interpret Footage, will likely make the characters "fat," and that might not look so good. Interpret Footage will only be 100% effective, when the PAR flag is missed, because of something in the workflow.

  • Finding out the 'create' command that i gave to make a table?

any way to find out what the 'create' command that i gave to make a table.
i have already given the create and its created a table but is there any way of knowing what the syntax was.? after giving it?

It's not as easy to come up with the actual (entire) command that created the table. You might be able to use
the DESC table_name to see the structure. However, if you need to know if any fields have constraints, default values,
what the keys are, etc.. You would have to come up with a script to create the CREATE TABLE script
The system tables to look at are:
    USER_TABLES
    USER_TAB_COLUMNS
    USER_CONSTRAINTS
    USER_CONS_COLUMNS
    USER_INDEXES
    USER_IND_COLUMNS

  • What QT7 settings do I use to export a 1080p video for playback on iPhone4? I'm using the iPhone to playback 1080p video on 1080p monitor. Is this possible?

Does anyone know what settings I should use to export a 1080p video for playback on iPhone4? I'm hoping to use the iPhone4 to playback 1080p video on 1080p monitor. Is this possible?
I have previously saved my .mov file as Apple TV, but the quality is reduced from 1920x1080 to 960x540. I was unable to sync the higher quality file to my phone (and am worried this is the limitation of the hardware). I added this file to iTunes, added to a playlist, and sync'd to my iPhone. The playback works but the resolution is obviously a lower quality. Is it possible to keep the higher quality for playback through a 1920x1080 hd monitor?  Otherwise, would I be able to sync a 1920x1080 mov file to a new iPad or other device? Thanks in advance to your answers.

No. Only the iPhone 4S, iPad3, and TV3 currently support 1080p30 content. Even then the 1080p30 playback support for your monitor may depend on how the device is connected. The iPhone 4 is limited to 720p30 playback.

Not on your current device. As previously stated, the latest generation of iPhone, iPad, and TV devices support a maximum 1080p30 playback capability but may be limited to lower resdolutions depending on your method of connection to your monitor. This information can be found on the Apple web site TechSpecs page for each respective device.

  • Is there a way to create a video that is 1080x1920?

I have a project that will need to be displayed on a portrait monitor. I have elements 12.

    Welcome to the forum.
As PrE only allows for more traditional Video formats, and all in horizontal/landscape orientation, I know of no way to setup a vertical/portrait Project. PrPro does allow for almost total customization, and can be set up to vertical/portrait, i.e. 1080 x 1920. This thread covers a bit of that: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1334680?tstart=60 Note that it refers to PrPro (not PrElements), and the OP also wants to Import rotated/portrait footage, edit it in horizontal/landscape, then output to vertical/portrait - so not exactly what you are asking for.
Now, one might be able to create a traditional horizontal/landscape Project, then hack the Project's PREL file, which is but XML code, but I have never tried doing that, and have not read of it being done. However, in theory, it should be possible, but I do not know what the results would be. Perhaps ATR will have some thoughts on doing the Project hacking, and then outputting to a vertical/portrait file?
    Good luck,

  • What are the settings for video output to consumer blu-ray DVD players?

I have a Maya animation rendered at 1920 x 1080.  There is no audio yet, butI will create SFX for the audio track. The animation was rendered for 24 fps viewing, but in truth I don't think I would notice if the playback was 23.97 fps.  I have Premeire Elements 7 and there are no pre-sets for HD or Blu-Ray.  It's not clear to me that I can do this in Elements 11 either or if I need to buy Premeire Pro to do what I want.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Thanks Ann.
I know I'll need to upgrade.  Since my editing needs are infrequent I just wanted to find out if I had to spring for Pro or if Elements11 would do.  Also, I'm trying to figure out what the settings should be.  I read about 24fps progressive (for film?) and 23.97 fps progress (for video?).  It is a short animation that I want to loop for a Point of Purchase video display.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

  • What settings to ensure widescreen video isn't 'squashed'?

I'm not very experienced in using iMovie, but I am just about to make a video in iMovie wich uses both widescreen (135º lens coverage) and 'normal' (65º lens coverage) width footage and stills.
I am about to film the widescreen footage, but it needs to be combined with the 'normal' stuff, which was shot on an older digital camera.
I know that this can cause problems - if I use widescreen aspect ratio then it will either stretch the 'normal' footage and stills horizontally to fill the screen or have a black line down each side at those parts of the video.
Similarly, if I use 'normal' aspect ratio, it will either 'squash' the widescreen footage to fit or will 'chop off a bit' of the image each side.
For me, the last of those is what I want to happen - so what settings to I need to use to ensure that the finished video has no 'squashed' or 'stretched' video, but 'chops off' the left and right extremeties of the widescreen footage that won't fit in the normal aspect ratio.
That way I can film the widescreen footage in such a way that there is nothing important at the left and right extremities of the image - and so the finished video will look OK

    Bump. Can anybody help, please?

  • How can I get rid of shimmer effect in videos that I create in iMovie?

How can I get rid of shimmer effect in videos that I create from photos in iMovie?

Well, not sure - so exactly what resolution do you use to shoot? Go in your camera settings and check. And, is there a settings to choose for regular/extra/fine/superfine quality? I shoot at the highest quality - period. My size/resolution is either widescreen or larger than what I need for the movie. My TV is HD 720p - that means the screen will display 1200 x 720 pixels in HD; if you have a 1080p, it'd be 1920 x 1080. So shoot in a size a bit larger than that because they can be adjusted down without any quality loss, but can't be made larger without significant loss of quality.
But,again, the problem usually doesn't start until you add movement, but camera quality has something to do with it as well. I know that a previous camera I had was not as good and a lot of my slideshows/movies didn't come out as perfect as I would have liked. So I bought a more expensive camera - shoots in full 1080 HD and I haven't had a problem since.
As for exporting a slideshow: finish it in Photo to Movie and export to desktop at highest quality (will take a while). Here is a screenshot of my export settings:
Once done, you can simply choose that movie by going to "import movies" in iMovie and navigating to the location (I usually save to desktop - easy to find).

  • Compression Settings create poor video, help please

    Hi everyone,
I am really getting awful looking video playing back a DVD that I just created on a plasma monitor. I see so many compression artifacts on the edge of the words as they move.
Can I up the mbps on this project? The piece is only 90 seconds. There is no audio and there are no menus. The footage in anamorphic which will be made into widescreen once the footage goes into DVD Studio Pro. The settings I used to compress in Quicktime Pro were:
    Two Pass VBR
    Target bitrate = 6.8
    Max bitrate = 7.5
    Motion Estimation = Better
I should add that I burned the TS folders in toast and used Verbatim DVDs. Also, the image looks fine when I play it on my computer monitor or an NTSC monitor. However, it looks terrible when played backed on a plasma monitor (40 and 50 inch screens).
Any help or info is greatly greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance, Frank

Are you playing that back through a DVD player connected to the plasma screen, or through a computer connected to the plasma screen?
The bigger question is, where did the project start? It's only 90 seconds long and it contains type... is it a Final Cut project? Motion? After Effects? Other?
I ask this because you may be exporting out of one of those programs using a less-than-ideal codec. For something that short, you really should be working uncompressed, so hopefully you're not using DV. That will help reduce noise around type (which DV itself will introduce, let alone encoding that into MPEG2).
Beyond that, you can up the bitrate. For a 90 second piece, at a high bitrate, there's no need to use two-pass VBR. Try a 7.5Mbps or 8Mbps CBR encode and see how that looks.

  • The images imported to my stage turn up as blank and render every image previous to the rogue imported image as red squares that fill the perimeters of the image which then renders the publishing and scene testing features in flash useless, what can i do

I have been working on animating a scene in flash for a few weeks and recently I have encountered a problem with importing my images on to the stage where the images I import do not turn up, however the key frame that I attempted to import the image onto shows that it is occupied by an image and every frame previous to the key frame that just imported an image that does not show turns up as a red square that fills the original perimeters of the image, there is no solution to this problem any where on the forum and the adobe technical support staff will not help me find a solution to this problem what can I do to get Flash running normally again and fix this problem?????
Also after the first time i publish a preview after i begin using flash, flash renders the publishing and scene testing features as useless and claims that there is no HTML template found, or if the images if i import any images onto the stage that come up blank and render every image previous to that image as a red square and then try and publish a preview  flash renders the publishing and scene testing features as useless and claims that there is no HTML template found. What can I do to fix this problem??? there is no solution on the web anywhere to this problem either.

I don't know if Flash has a memory limit of its own. The memory for your Flash file is based on the available memory on your computer.
There is a limit on the number of frames that you can have in any given timeline. I think that it's about 15000 frames, but that's a guess. Flash does all of its work at runtime, this means that no part of your animation is pre-compiled like it is in a video file. So the more objects that you have on the stage, the more work Flash has to do. It follows that the more objects that there are to animate, the more work your processor and the video card have to do.

  • I have premier elements 9. I can no longer create videos. Is it because of upgrade? Please tell me what to do. TY

When I open elements 9- to create a new video- it is now just a blank, black/gray screen. I can no longer create videos. I can't upload from computer, etc. Is this from the new download of Rebel?
Please tell me what to do, where to go. I realize this is an old version- but I liked it and it was easy to use....Am I required to purchase another version now?

    smokeymountainwedding
You need to explain your situation further so we are clear on how to answer your question.
    1. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on? Have you been and are you now running the program
as the 9.0.1 Update? When you the last time that you used this program successfully for one of your video productions?
    2. Are you trying to import video from the Canon EOS Rebel t3i or another model into Premiere Elements 9 workspace?
From what I have read, the camera records with a MPEG4 video compression and has a .mov file extension. Is that true? What camera setting are you using 1920 x 1080, 1280 x 720, or other? And, what does it say for frames per second?
So, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.
Bottom line: are you using the same computer, same Premiere Elements 9, same Canon footage, that worked before and now it is not working?
And, please clarify...important....do you meet this problem even before you try to import your Canon video into a project?
When you open the program from its desktop icon, are you left facing a gray window with menu names across the top that will not open?
Lots of questions, lots of answers needed.
Your details will help us to help you.
    Thank you.
