What settings will keep the brush size "precise" while I am brushing?

Hi -
I give up.  With all the options in PSD CS5.5 (Mac 10.7) I can't figure out how to keep seeing the size of my brush while I'm using it.  I can see and adjust the size of the brush (  ]   [  ) but as soon as I hold down the mouse button the circle goes away and I cannot see the edge of my brush.  Consequently my brushing is not precise.
Can someone please tell me what combination of settings will allow me to see the cursors I want in the size they will be applied and have that size be apparent AS I am applying them?
TIA some sanity.
JL

Jeff Schewe - thanks so much for pulling me back from the edge.  That's the exact answer I needed.
Everyone else - thanks for responding with such succinct and valuable comments.

  • Exported video size smaller than original video size. How do I keep the original size?

I exporting a video from Adobe Premiere CS6 today, and I noticed the video was about 1/2 times smaller  than the original video I put in. I then uploaded the video on YouTube, and the size was still the same. I tried to change the preset to 1080p 29.97, 1080p 25, etc. and the same with 720p, and 480p, but the size only changed slightly.
How do I keep the original size after exportation of videos?

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

    Here is my suggestion:
Open a blank, new file (File>new>blank file) size 8.5x11"
    Open the collage
    Go to Select>all
    Go to Edit>copy
Go back to the blank file created in step #1
Go to Edit>paste. The collage will be on its own layer
Access the move tool, and with the corner handles resize the collage. Using the corner handles should preserve the aspect ratio. If you open the rulers, you will have a point of reference as you go along.
Print a draft copy to see if it will be suitable in the frame..
Please report back with your progress.

  • HT2204 My husband and I have the same apple id. We would like to each have our own. He will keep the original one, but how do I get a new apple Id and keep all the things I have associated with the old apple id?

My husband and I use the same apple Id. We would like to each have our own apple id, but we do not want to lose all our information associated with the current id. One of us will keep the original. If one us creates a new apple id how will that affect the iPhone and iTunes?

That would be my suggestion.  Just keep using the common one for purchases in the stores.  Then each get another AppleID using a free gmail, AOL, hotmail, MS Live or whatever email account.
Delete your current iCloud account and login with the new AppleID, and logout of Messaging and then backin with the new AppleID.  Now you have a shared iTunes/App store account, but completely separate, independent iCloud and iMessage accounts.
You can still share calendars if you wish to, even across separate accounts - http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2690

most times when I import photos from my desktop or dropbox to iPhoto, iPhoto will keep the title I created for the image as the display title under the image. but occasionally it displays the filename instead and I have to go back through and reenter the title in iPhoto. why the inconsistency? running OS 10.9.5 and using iPhoto 9.5.1

Try this:  select one of the photos that are showing the wrong title and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to File Name menu option.
See if that will put the name that you want under the thumbnail.

Exporting Quark to Acrobat. Acrobat enlarges page size, how do I export to Adobe Acrobat so that it keeps the page size the same?

Thank you. I used to be able to Export from Quark to Acrobat without any problems when I was using Acrobat 7. Just changed to Acrobat 8 and have this problem. My 8.5x11 pages become 33x44 inches when exported to Acrobat 8. 400% increase in size. I don't know why. I tried Printing my Quark file to Adobe PDF and that worked. Thank you for your help.

  • Export an XML or EDL which will keep the clip's full name

    Greetings,
I've been working with R3d (RED EPIC format) footages in premiere cs6 and i need to export an XML or EDL which will keep the clip's full name, in order to use it for further post production (davinci).
    How do i do it?

i know that edl is an old format but i wonder if there is another format like avid's cmx 640.
I've already exported xml and it doesn't keep the clip's full name.
I'm more interested in exporting xml.
Is there a way to import the R3D so it keeps the clip's full name in the metadata?

How do I keep the iPad 2 on while using it so it won't go off, making have to push the buttons to get back to where I was?

Open the Settings app > General > AutoLock - set to Never. You will, howver, want to get in the habit of manually putting it to sleep with the on/off button.

Digital files don't have sizes in centimeters or inches, meters or yards. They have only pixels. If LR is not changing the number of pixels, it is not changing the digital image. When the image is printed, the number of pixels packed into every inch has a large effect on the quality of the print. This is the pixels per inch number, or "ppi". For a smooth print paper it is generally accepted that 300 ppi produces optimum quality, but for canvas a lower ppi, as low as 150 even, will do. Unfortunately, your camera puts a tag on the digital file which sets a default ppi of only 72. The reason is very anachronistic and silly and is a hangover from 30 years ago when Apple monitors had a resolution of 72 dpi, a measure long ago abandoned. That tag is misleading because it gives the impression that a very large print can be made from the pixels just as they come from the camera (the smaller the ppi, the larger the print) and some beginners think that is the only size print that can be made. But that not true. It is only a default tag, a suggestion, and it can be disregarded or changed (LR changes it to 240 ppi) and any sized print made. The real, operative, ppi will be the pixel dimensions divided by the print dimensions. Your image with all its pixels (uncropped other than to the 1:1.4 paper ratio) will have an operative 93 ppi on b0 paper which is a bit low. I would suggest using LR's resize function to double it to 7296 pixels on the short side.

  • Printing a PDF and keeping the original size.

I have a question, in my workplace I have to share documents with other departments. I draw them in Illustrator and save them as PDF, since is the only way they can print them. My problem is that the drawings are size sensitive, if I draw a 4 x6 inches square, that's what it needs to be printed (100%). However, when people print the PDF file, the size changes, and the drawing is being reduce a bit. I know that we could manage each printer's settings, but not everybody would be able to do it. My question is if there is any way to know the reduction rate or proportion when converting to PDF. Should I make my drawings at 105% or 110% to get the 100% when printing? Is there any other way to get this done in a easier way? Please, any suggestion will be highly appreciated!

    Danella,
The only thing you can do is to keep the exact paper size used in the PDF (A4, Letter, whatever).
Then instruct whoever is printing the PDF to use the settings that result in a Zoom level of 100%: in Reader by ticking Actual Size,  (keep in Acrobat by unticking both Shrink oversized pages to paper size and Expand smaller pages to paper size, or whatever it takes depending on Reader/Acrobat version.

  • When i use the text tool the text inside the box is very small almost invisible even when i keep the text size to 72 please help

I Have the PS CC 2014 installed in my Win7. I have a problem with the TEXT TOOL,when I select the tool and type something in there, the text is very tiny eventhough the size is 72. I have tried all the things, like Preferences changing, tool reset, character resets etc., Please help me its very frustrating!

Do you see this behaviour on a new Photoshop document?
    Try creating a New document:
    File > New.
From the Preset menu, choose U.S. Paper (just so we can test what's happening).
Take note of the Width, Height and Resolution of the document you are creating.
Select the Type tool, and ensure the font size is set in pt (points), set to 72 pt.
Click anywhere in the canvas, and start typing.
Do you still see the problem? If it's disappeared, then check the problem document settings:
Image > Image Size, what's the resolution and physical width and height of the file?
Hopefully this will help you discover what's happening to your document.

  • When I try to move from one selected image to selecting a different image, lightroom (new install of Lightroom 5.5) will keep the previous image selected, so I always end up with two selected images - why?

For example, I will select the first image in my grid view, then let's say I want to work on the fifth image. When I click on the fifth image, Lightroom leaves image one selected, as if I have held down the Command or the Shift key to select multiple images.  This is not what I expect. Then I am forced to command click the image I no longer want selected - this happens every time I try to move to any new image - the previous one(s) stay selected.  I have tried a reboot of my machine but still this happens.  Also, as a further bug, if I leave my grid with no images selected at all, after a few seconds Lightroom automatically selects the first two images in my library and highlights them - without my even pressing a key!  This is really weird behaviour. It's really frustrating as I like to use my keyboard arrow keys to move through my library of images, but when Lightroom keeps two images selected it just ping pongs between those two images.  I deselect and try to move on, and it again leaves the previous image selected!  By the way - I am not in Compare mode while this is happening - just in standard browsing of the library...  Help please!
    kind regards,

  • How do I keep the original size when exporting?

I have people sending me photos to edit. I work a little in photoshop cs4 and then back in lightroom 3, but when I go to send them the photos back ,they are HUGE! How can I send them the same size file they sent me? (the ones I am currently working on are tiff. files.)

If you are editing tif files, then you have only a couple of choices.
Flatten the image before you save it.  This will reduce it down to one layer. That's the smallest you can get.
When you first open the image, look to see if it's 8 bit or 16 bit tif.  It won't help you, but if the image is 8 bit, and you save it as 16 bit, you will have dramatically increased the size of the file for nothing.  If it's started as 16, no worries!
check if you are saving with compression.   Tif compression is lossless, so unless you did something like resize+resample, it remains the same bit density, etc, so should be just as printable as what they sent you (unless you messed up!).
    Cheers!
