What should I consider when buying an eMac?

Instead of upgrading a Pentium 4 2.4 GB tower that I have is worth about 50 dollars, I am thinking of getting an eMac. The one I am considering, I believe, is the lastest model made in 2005 or 2006. When considering this model what should I look for or avoid? I saw that some have defective mother boards. Just want to get the best machine possible for that model. Thanks for your input. this computer wouldn't be used much but looking for general internet use, iphoto or iLife and something my 8 yo would eventually use for her school work. Also want to use a samsung laser fax printer with it.

Well this would be a seldom used computer, and I really would prefer a Mac that I can use for the basics, Internet, ilife, iWork, etc. And something my 8yo can use for word processing and school work as she gets older. I have an old Pentium 4 2.4 GB that I was thinking of having newer Windows software added to along with some increased memory which would cost (not a lot) something for a unit that isn't worth much in the first place (I had this thing repaired twice due a virus in the past too and it got really slow starting up before I gave up on it, so it needs some attention to be usable). I prefer an apple for this use as I already have a Mac Book but I don't want to spend even 600 for a mini mac so I am now considering a second hand apple for this use and someone I spoke with who sells such said he had one of these. he also has some other things too. I am not super savvy with all the details so really need to find someone to trust for this. Ultimately don't want to spend a whole lot, 200$ ish, since won't really be used much.

If you use Windows program to partition the Hard Drive, the Apple partition gets destroyed.
Windows does not understand it is a guest on your Mac, and throws garabge wherever it pleases.

With 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. What should I do when my iPhone is in recovery mode, I'm trying to restore, and it's stuck at the "Waiting For iPhone" stage??

I dropped my iPhone on the ground, and as I went to pick it up, I started to swear under my breath as I realized my iPhone was in recovery mode. I'm like "how would an iPhone be this sensitive -_-," and so as my iPhone's docked unto my laptop, and with relentless attempts to restore my iPhone, I always find iTunes stuck at the "Waiting For iPhone" stage and I honestly have no clue what to do at this point. What should I do to bypass this or fix this problem? Or do I just wait? -_-

Nothing except that when I turn it on, there's a USB cable and an iTunes logo above it, indicating that it's in recovery mode.

Hey folks I want some feedback on why type of questions we should consider basic in this forum? I have noticed in the last several weeks the questions here appear to be easily answered from wiki articles or the new book on the SAP Webclient programming.
Instead of me however throwing down the moderator axe, I want the community to decide the type of questions that should be locked or moved to a "basic questions" forum.
Given that the CRM Webclient is now a relatively mature product and the available materials to learn have increased, this should be fair request.

Based on your feedback my goal is to implement the "stricter moderation" post Teched Las Vegas or around October 1st, 2011. I would expect further changes to moderation style as SCN moves to a new platform and moderator tools are improved.

Try recalibrating the battery meter... fully discharge (until it shuts off) and then fully recharge (don't unplug until 100%) to recalibrate the battery meter. You may need to do this a few times.

Doesn't matter much, since you'll be prompted to update when you connect to iTunes - the latest is 2.2.1. Probably most phone have 2.2 at this point.

In the US it's 02.30.03 with the latest firmware.
