What should I do if I can't get my iPod to sync to my computer?

It's been a while since I have tried to syce my iPod onto my computer. Everything seems to be up to date, but my iPod won't synce. What should I do?

What happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

If your Mac is new-ish and has one of the Lions as its OS, the drives, cards, USB sticks no longer show up, even though they're there. Go to Finder's Preferences and tick the corresponding items in the General and Sidebar tabs.

  • Please help! I can't get my iPod to sync with iTunes on my PC?

This problem is really frustrating and I would really appreciate some guidance because I'm completely stuck. I have been trying for many hours over the past few days to get my iPod touch to sync with iTunes on my PC. When I plug my iPod touch into my PC, iTunes opens up and this message pops up:
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
I have completely removed iTunes from my PC several times and reinstalled it several times but this message continues to pop up and its really annoying because I can't put my music onto my iPod. I have followed instructions on the apple website which were to temove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel and then restart the PC and reinstall iTunes again. I've tried this several times and it simply didn't work and the error message continues to pop up when I plug my iPod into my PC. I really need to know what is the software required so that I can use my iPod with iTunes on my PC. I can't explain how much I'd appreciate help with this. Thanks in advance.
Do I need to install software on my iPod or on my PC? :S

Two ideas, but what version of Windows? what versions of iTunes? did you manually remove what the uninstaller left behind as outlined in Apple support article?
Did you upgrade to iOS 5 or not? what version? what about your iPod Touch model?
    Backup its backup. Backup content.
USB is directly connected to a motherboard port?
Have you had to restore the iPod?
Also, many have pointed finger at Apple Mobile Service needing to be restarted first, then launch iTunes and then connect iPod.
Create a new Windows partition and use that to do a clean install and for testing. Always works.
Some security software. Microsoft Security Essentials does an excellent job, free, works.
I have not read or seen "the req'd software is not installed" mentioned by others, but could easily miss (new to iPod + iTunes myself and there were so many threads when iOS 5 came out).

  • I Can't Get My iPod To Sync Or Charge

I know it's because I accidently deleted something. I was deleting un-needed programs yesterday and I deleted an Apple one that said I rarely used it. But when I restarted my computer I got some error message about Apple Sync Notifier. I guess it couldn't be located and it told me to re-install the program. I completely un-installed iTunes and re-installed it and I still can't sync or charge my iPod. I don't know what to do!

Hi, you could try resetting your ipod.dont know wich model you have, but that usually works..

not sure if this is a permanent fix but, ever since upgrading to itunes 11.3.1, my iphone5 seems to finish syncing on its own, now. didn't seem to be a problem anymore. at least after doing only one sync, since the upgrade.
(stiil have a blank "purchased" page at itunes store, though).

  • How can I get my iPod to sync with my Mac (running OS X 10.5.8) if I don't want to upgrade my Mac to OS X 10.6.8?

I just tried to sync my iPod and got the message that I have to update iTunes, but my Mac is running OS X 10.5.8. I wouldn't have updated the OS on my iPod if I had known this would be a problem. Any suggestions on how I can get my devices to sync again without updating my Mac OS?

  • I can't get my iPod to sync.

The only way I've been able to get it to sync is by restoring it. I really shouldn't have to restore my iPod everytime I want to sync.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • I can't get my ipod to sync with new laptop. I have tried to erase and sync, I have authorized new laptop, and still can't get new songs on ipod. Help

I had to purchase a new laptop, since my old one crased. I downloaded iTunes, and my library came up. I followed the directions given, synced ipod, authorized computer and was given a pop up that stated 25 of my songs could not be transferred.Go to Store, authorize computer and resync. Which I did. When I authorize computer another pop up appears and it states this computer is already authorized. I am getting really frustrated. I have gone to the Apple store several times, had to make appointments as they were to busy to help me then. I show up for appointments to either be told, no appointment appears in their schedule, or they are running over an hour late. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks

Why can't the songs be transferred to the device?  Is it because they are not authorized?  Were these 25 tracks purchased/downloaded with the same account you have used to authorize the PC/new iTunes library?

I am trying to SYNC my 8GB IPOD Classic but it doesn't SYNC when I connect it and the SYNC command is greyed out. I have "Manual" checked on the Control Panel but when I try to uncheck it it warns me that it will SYNC with my other Library which is exactly what I am trying to avoid. Any thoughts?
