What should I do if my iPod is frozen?

My iPod was charging last night and someone unplugged it. I turned it on and now the screen is frozen, just showing the little apple on the screen. I tried plugging it into the computer, but it won't respond or show up as John's iPod or Sally's iPod, or something like that. I don't know what to do! What should i do?

Try first restarting it.
If that doesn't help try resetting it.
Both restarting en resetting are explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If you do a reset, you can thereafter connect your iPod to your computer and restore from backup:
If you used iCloud: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859
If not, restore from backup with iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

Perhaps your iPod is turned Off? Try pressing the On/Off switch on the top side until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

If the problem persits after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you likely have a hardware problem.  In that case an appointment at the Genius Bar of an apple store or returing it to Apple is in order.

You'll have to get it serviced by Apple, you'll have to pay for the replacement device:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
You can also search for a 3rd party repair company in the Internet.

  • What should i do if my iPod is stuck on the apple and doesn't need a update

My iPod all of a sudden blacked out now it's stuck on the apple sign, i tried plugging it in to iTunes but it says it does'nt need an update. What should i do to fix it?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • What should i do if my ipod says it is disabled connect to itunes but my computer has broke

    what should i do

You'll have to connect to another computer in order to restore. But do this first before you connect, in order not to erase your device.
Make sure the new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

  • What should you do if your iPod touch isn't playing the songs in your music it's only skipping the songs

My sister her iPod isn't playing her songs only skipping them what should she do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • What should i do if my ipod doesnt charge?

Several days ago I noticed that my wall charger wasn't working on my iPod. I plugged it in to my computer and it charged just fine. This morning I tried to charge it and it will not charge at all. What should I do?

  • What should i do if my ipod is stuck on hold

My ipod is stuck on hold even when the button isn't on the hold option. So, i basically can't do anything because it doesn't register when i click any buttons. What should i do?

If a reset of restore of the device does not resolve the issue, you'll need to have the iPod serviced either by Apple or a third party repair center.  It sounds like your hold switch is broken and in need of replacement.

  • What should I do if my iPod is trying to turn off for 1hour?

It all started when I noticed that some of my apps weren't working, since this had happened before I went to the app store>updates and noticed that I'd have to update apps that were updated before. Since this'd happened before I turned off my Ipod and then came the troubles because my iPod still is trying to turn off I mean it just has the circle thing that goes around and around in a circle, and it's been going on for like an hour now. What should I do. Is my ipod defective?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings

    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Please help me! I have had thiss iPod for over a year now! No cracks, no breakdowns, no nothing until now! What should I do?

Push and hold the Home button and the Sleep/On/Off button at the same time for approximately 15 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. No content will be affected by this procedure.

  • What should I do if my Ipod Touch keeps losing charge a lot?, What should I do if my Ipod Touch keeps losing charge a lot?

My Ipod touch (3rd generation I believe) keeps losing charge really fast after I charge it and when it's charging the apple symbol keeps popping up.  Also, when I plug it into my computer it doesn't show up on my iTunes.  What should I do?

    Start here.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
When you get iTunes to see the iPod try the standrd fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing wil be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
You could have a bad battery that needs replacment.  I can't really tell since you did say how long the battery lasted.
