What should I do w/ my Lumia 800(US customer)?

Touch screen is out, the camera button doesn't work. The company I bought it from doesn't want to refund or replace it. The warranty company failed to repair it. The extended warranty doesn't cover the parts in my situation. Nokia USA refuses to repair my phone, because it is being used in the US. One month of use and 2 months of BS. I don't think I will get what I paid for...

Hi ejovi,
Sorry to hear your Lumia is not functioning as it should.
Psychomania is correct in his response. If you want to have the Lumia repaired under warranty it has to be send to the country/region it was originally shipped to. I send you a PM to help you further with this.
Hope this will help you,

  • What happened to the Lumia 800 design???

    Well it's obvious that the current Lumia 800 is on a dead track since it no longer supports an update to the new OS. That wouldn't be much of a problem when the new Lumia designs were based on the 800. Unfortunatelly though the new x20 series are utterly boring! (except for the 920, but that one is too big/heavy and without amoled)
    I really can’t think of any reason for redesigning the phone. The 800 was differentiating from the rest of the market and very stylish. Like Apple, Nokia better had to keep on to this winning design so it's recognizable. But just adapting it a bit, bringing better hardware and so on...
    Maybe I'm wrong here and it's just me that loves the 800. So for me it’s a difficult dilemma, I have to choose for design or functionality where both should have been joined…

    The lumia 800 has a superior design.
    It is the most beautiful smartphone nokia, is simply a piece of art, either in size or in design.
    All 20's are horrible

  • My Nokia Lumia 800 has two IMEI numbers. What?!

    Hi Everyone,
    Purchased a Lumia 800 (white) from Nokia Store here in Bangalore, India on August 2012. The phone was working fine till August 2013 when camera stopped working. Took the phone to Nokia Care. Warranty checked out fine and the camera module had to be replaced. Got call from Nokia Care three weeks later saying there has been IMEI mismatch as such warranty is now void. Reason- the phone has two IMEI numbers. What??
    And funny, Nokia's story was true. IMEI number written on the phone panel and phone box differed from internal hardware IMEI number (which can also be seen from Settings>About). They say this can only happen if the phone was serviced earlier and component changed. Well, this was my first time servicing the phone and when the phone is under warranty why will I give for servicing to a non-nokia centre?? This shocked me, I could not convince Nokia people so I just agreed to pay for the repair. Now, after 3 days, they call up and say- "Changed the camera module but it is still not working. Maybe your motherboard is damaged! you will be charged 80% of the phones price if you agree with repair". I am yet to give them the 'go ahead'.
    For no fault of mine I am going through so much!! Is it possible that Nokia sold me a device with two IMEI numbers?? Can anyone please tell me what to do?? Thanks.

    Nokia wouldn't have sold a device in that state. It's highly likely that the retailer is to blame for this one. They've probably sold you a refurbished or repaired set as new.
    If I was you I would go and speak to the retailer about this.

  • What languages are supported in Lumia 800 UK versi...

    Does anyone know what language options Lumia 800 sold in UK has?

    I was under the impression perhaps erroneously that Windows is much restrictive than previous Nokia OS in this respect, even though Windows Mobile 7.5 Mango delivers increasing support for other languages.

  • Should I keep Lumia 800?

    Hi have just taken delivery of Lumia 800. Probably should have looked at forum before ordering. I appreciate forums are largely used by people with issues, but I have been shocked by problems with phone and some of its limitations eg can't direct synch outlook tasks - I don't have ability to use exchnage server and was motivation for buying a windows phone rather than iphone(assumed there would be no issue). Question is should I keep phone or return under 7 day cool off. Thanks for your thoughts.

    Sadly Nokia has again failed to listen to it's customers, the whole battery issue has been declared -solved- although sadly it is nowhere near solved. The battery longevity varies hugely from day to day, one day it will sit on standby for 18 hours the next it will die after 6 hours (this happened to me yesterday from full charge to flat in 6 hours standby)
    It had/has the potential to be a great phone but the battery issues plague it, if you have not already bought one then, as a loyal Nokia customer since they first started selling mobile phones for general use, I'd steer well clear of it until they either fix it or replace the model with something that does the job it was designed for.
    The Lumia 800 has been all said and done the most complete and utter dissapointment Nokia could have put to market. It  was clearly rushed to production and sale without first making sure it was up to the job.  The only thing Nokia can do now is put it's hands up and admit to it's customers that there is and always has been a battery issue, it has not been resolved, make efforts to get the issue rectified as soon as possible and hope some of them will stay 'brand loyal'. I have tried to remain positive throughout but it is now very hard to remain upbeat when I have a phone which I cannot use for any time for fear of being caught without power and cannot enjoy the features of unless it is plugged in and charging (note plugged in with the Lumia does not always mean charging) this defeats the word mobile and provides me with a very expensive electricity consuming landline

  • Lumia 800 PAYG what are these daily £1 charges?

    Hi
    I would like some help with my Nokis Lumia 800
    Ive set up the WiFi entered in my key etc etc ( and yup it is switched on,) yet every day (while i am at home) i see a pound comes off my credit, i thought maybe it was because i was opening my phone while i was still in say my mailbox and in those seconds i was connecting to wifi i was being charged, but even left in my home sceen i still get the charges....but then my mailbox is constantly being updated .....
    how do i avoid these costs without buying conracts
    i assumed it would be like setting up my I pad (at home at least) set it up & good to go with no more charges????
    I am with o2 and they sell cheap £3.00 month bolt on which gives  100mb (????is that right????) data with no wifi? Huh i thought wifi was free
    that is why my user name is stupidgirl

    Wifi and mobile data are separate ways of connecting to the internet. All you need to connect via wifi is a working phone and a usable wifi point; there are no charges unless you're using a commercial point such as a hotel. Mobile data is subject to whatever charges apply under your phone contract.
    You'll need to ask O2 what the £1 charges are, but I suppose it could be that you connected via the mobile network instead of wifi. Unless you want permanent connection to the internet for some reason (do you really need to read your emails as soon as they arrive or examine Farcebook every few minutes?), why not keep both wifi and mobile data switched off until you need them? You can then choose how to connect depending on whether you're by a usable wifi point. Saves battery use also.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 what's happen?

    Hi i have a lumia 800... I charged my phone and when is 100% it's only 1 day and 2 hours written....  My phone i ready to work only 15-19 hours....I use it normaly it's mean : 20min talk, about 20-30 sms and 10-20 min internet.... everything I off except email ( take email- immediately) localization is off the same with many aplication.... I have a new soft and still my phone go only 15-19 hours.... your lumia 800 also work 15-17 and then on battery you see heart??
    thanks for answer

    Yes I have a Lumia 800 but not using it since I got the Lumia 920. I usually get 2 days during the week and maybe 3 days during a quiet weekend. Same with most of my other smart phones.
    You cannot compare the latest smartphones to the 3310. Smartphones have big colour screens, wifi, touchscreen, emails and messages always synching, more powerful processors. The power consumption is so much higher. 120-220mA is high for idle. Probably because your phone is doing something in the background.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 won't charge, stuck on loading scr...

    My Nokia Lumia 800 ran out  of battery while I was at work (not the first time) I take it home and plug it in, after 20 mins of the red battery screen it vibrates and springs to life, but it never got past the white 'Three' welcome screen (one of three screens that flash up when the phone is first turned on, others are Nokia screen and Windows screen).
    It's been charging for over 10 hours and it's still stuck on that white screen. The phone feels cold (not stone cold, but not warm either) so clearly it's not charging. I've tried a different charger, different plug, and plugging it in to the computer. When I unplug it, it dies after 20-30 mins and I go through the whole process again the next time I charge it.
    When I plugged it into the computer it behaved very strangely. It rapidly connected/diconncted itself, not giving Windows time to recognoise the device was plugged in and install the driver software. Before evneutally diconnecting itself and going back to that white screen.
    What's wrong with it? It's not the first time it's totally ran out of battery (although I don't let it happen very often).
    The phone is only 4 months old!
    What do I do?
    Nokia Care on Twitter was useless, asked me to do soft resets (already tried, many times, the phone turns off briefly, vibrates, then back to that white screen).
    If I have to send it in for repiars how do I do that? I live in South West England, my nearest Nokia Care store is in central London, several hours away.
    Thanks for any help you can offer.
    The white screen it's stuck on looks just like this: http://www.techwatch.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Three-Logo-235x276.jpg

    You should contact the nokia care point and they will organise the device to be collected.

  • The most systematic analysis of Lumia 800 battery ...

    Hi, don’t mean to be arrogant, but I’ve read many threads, forums, posts etc.  There are tons of info, someone tried a table, etc. but no one has attempted to summarise the relevant parameters.  So here goes:
    1.     I have a Cyan 800, bought locked at “3” UK, then unlocked.  It’s beautiful and makes iApple UI look, well, jurassic or geriatric in comparison.  The screen is so beautiful that I switched the thing on just to marvel at the ease of reading the glorious white on black (real black, not grey) and I am smitten by the ascetic aesthetics of the UI that put function over form (I simply can't stomach the saccharine animation of Apple, it is an eye candy for a while, then becomes bothersome, at least to me.
    2.     Initially, I noticed that the battery life was not great, but it did not seem disastrous, and I read all the gleeful Apple worshipping media trying to fan the battery issue, but I thought that it was a storm in a tea cup and just the usual attempt to put-down any competition to Apple.
    3.     Until a couple of days ago I noticed that I have less than ½ charge after only a few hours off the charger without really doing almost anything.
    4.     I panicked, read as much I could the forums, etc. (including probably the most technical – XDA-Forums) but got there only one real advice, the “diagnostics” mode (dial ##634# - I also downloaded an App (called Diagnostics) that does bring you straight to the relevant page without the need to “dial” the ##634#).
    5.     I then tried to see what was draining the battery, I stopped 3G connection and “presto”, the drainage stopped and I thought that I resolved the problem (at least for me, there were clearly problems with a certain hardware code, see below).
    6.     For one day, the battery was very durable.  Even though I had some reasonable With-Fi browsing and calls (GSM, not 3G), there was more than a 1/3rd of the battery left after about 20 hours of the last charge.
    7.     Then, today, the morning began very well (in terms of the battery), it was losing less than a few percentage points every hour.  I used it for light browsing and a bit of Bluetooth listening.  Them my 7-yr old played some X-Box games for a bit, but the battery was way above 2/3rds.  I then noticed that the phone was warm even though it was not on.  Initially, I thought that it was warm because it was on my body, but then I noticed very fast fall in the battery level.  Check:
    a.      the 3G again, no it is still off
    b.     wi-fi and Bluetooth off
    c.      I even checked what Apps were in the background (though I know that it is NOT draining)
    d.      - nothing helps, the drainage was high, even when the phone was closed (i.e., not used).
    8.     There was nothing I could do, until I shut the phone down completely and switched it on again.  Then, the drainage returned to the “good” level, i.e., a few percentage points per hour.
    9.     So bottom line, I think that there was something going-on “in the background (that is why the device was warm even when closed) – the problem is that this seems to be intermittent/random and very difficult to put the finger on what causes this problem.  I hope that Nokia resolves this problem and not only the “low” battery capacity (see below) that Nokia acknowledged.
    So after this long intro, what do I see as the “hard-points” here? The most important parameters for the story seem to be in the following screens:
    1.     “Diagnostics” (##634#) “Battery Status” screen;
    2.     “Settings”/”Systems”/”about” screen, have to press the “more information” button;
    3.     “Settings”/”Systems”/”battery saver” screen;
    4.     The battery icon and its remaining capacity representation on the main screen.
    The “Diagnostics” (##634#) “Battery Status” screen:
     It seems to contain the following info:
    ·       “Charged” – seems to display ALWAYS the figure “65535%”;
    ·       “Voltage” – seems to show figures of between 3.700 V (i.e., volts) to 4.1 or 4.2 volts
    ·       “Current”, followed by “charging” or “discharging” and the current, usually between 130 mA (i.e., milliamp) and 500 mA.
    ·       “Full Charge Capacity” – showing different figures for different people, usually between slightly above 900 mAh (i.e., milli-Amper-hours) and slightly above 1,500 mAh.  Although in this should logically be a fixed-for-ever, or at least in the short term level, the figure seems to fluctuate slightly, see below for more detail.
    ·       “Remaining Charge Capacity” – clearly the most important parameter, showing the remaining mAh in the battery.  Although in theory, the level immediately after long charge should be equal or very near the “Full Charge Capacity”, in practice, it almost never is (remember, I take this not only from my case, but also from numerous reports that I got from the various forums), see below for more detail.
    The “Settings”/”Systems”/”about” screen, the relevant info items:
    ·       OS version – it seems that the latest one (as of late dec 2011) should include “7740” in it.  apparently, Nokia promised some respite from the battery bugs in this “7740” update, but from what I read in the forums, there was absolutely no difference.
    ·       Firmware revision number – interestingly, the firmware revision number includes “7720”, though I am not sure what it means.
    ·       Hardware revision number – this ends up with “xxx.3” or “xxx.4” – as below, I wonder if this is a different OEM factories designation, but it seems to me that it is the “xxx.4” that has one type of problem (low “Full Charge Capacity” of under 1,000 mAh).
    The “Settings”/”Systems”/”battery saver” screen – what is relevant for us is under the “battery information” – you must unplug the phone from charger to see three lines:
    ·       “Remaining battery life”: supposed to be between 0 and 100% of course (though in this context, calling it “remaining battery life” is misleading, or at least inconsistent with the “remaining charge capacity” of “Battery Status” screen.  Perhaps it would be better to call this “remaining charge”
    ·       “Estimated time remaining” – measured in hours, in my case, it is always under 15 houts.  There is no explanation what it means, I would guess that this is “how many hours will your phone work in stand-by mode”, but then it is way way below what Nokia said – measured in hundreds of hours.
    ·       “Time since last charge – measured in hours.
    So below I summarise my findings, but first, my unit parameters:
    Color: Cyan (does not seem to make any difference to people out there – problems “cross” colours;
    OS: “7.10.7740.16”
    Firmware: 1600.2475.7720.11414
    Hardware: 112.1402.2.3
    So, in MY case:
    1.     “Battery Status” screen:
    ·       “Charged” – seems to ALWAYS display the figure “65535%”, like all others on the forums.  This must be some kind of mistake because it does not change or update and makes no sense, now that we are in this so deep, I hope that Nokia explains what the hell this means, if at all;
    ·       “Voltage” – seems to show figures of between 3.700 V (i.e., volts) to 4.1 or 4.2 volts.  When the battery is low, the voltage seems also to fall below 4.0;
    ·       “Current”, followed by “charging” or “discharging” and the current, usually between 130 mA (i.e., milliamp) and 500 mA.  When the battery “plays nice”, i.e., there is no “problem”, this figure is under 150 ma, usually going seesaw between 140 and 155.  When 3G is on, it is above 250 towards 270 mA
    ·       “Full Charge Capacity” – showing for me usually above 1,500, constantly changes, though less frequently then other figures in this screen.  Strangely I noticed that when it is cold (I was jogging and it was in an external pocket with about 7C outside), this number went lower, under 1,500.  Perhaps the battery when colder can hold less charge?  Nokia should explain.  I think that in case of Hadware versions that end in “x.4” the maximum in this parameter is reported under 1,000.
    ·       “Remaining Charge Capacity” – in my unit this never reaches the “Full Charge Capacity” (which is usually slightly above 1,500 mAh), it stops below 1,350 mAh.
    2.     “Battery Saver Screen” and the battery icon on the main screen:
    In my case, because the “Remaining” charge never reaches close to the “Full Charge”, when I disconnect the phone from charger, I get straight that “Remaining Battery Life” is “94%” (1350/1500 or so) – and the icon is never 100% “full”, rather “almost” full.  “Estimated time remaining” never really above 15 hrs.
    So, there seem to be (at least) two major issues/problems in relation to battery/working-time:
    1.     Firmware revision (probably) “x.4” may have a faulty battery that would not charge above 1,000 mAh (950 mAh is mentioned by many, or about 1/3rd less than intended by Nokia (unless it is a software bug, which will be huge relief for all, especially for nokia);
    2.     Firmware revision “x.3” may have escaped the “crippled” battery of revision “x.4” guys, but from time to time it can lose battery charge at least 2 times faster than otherwise, most likely due to some background processes that can be felt as the device becomes warm even when not switched on (i.e., in stand-by mode).  This seems to be intermittent or random and can be stopped by powering-down the phone and then powering-up again.
    3.     In all cases, the claim that the phone can be several days in sand-by mode, must be wrong and Nokia must address and explain this.
    So in summary, at least in respect of battery, there is a mess.  Will be interesting if some people with other WP7 devices can chip-in and say whether it is similar in their cases, but Nokia should be open and explain and even admit mistakes, I hope that this can be rectified by software, or at least it is not a “terminal” complication for Lumia 800, which is a beautiful device.

    I would like to thank all the people here who have taken the time to put all this info together for us all and hope it is of help to the folks who are having trouble with battery life. I'm not doing to bad on battery life myself as it always last me though the working part of the day when I don’t have access to a charger and I will soon be updating my car cradle to take the Lumia so will have access to a charger though the day to. Personally I have come from the N900 and that phone also had some battery issues when it first came out which where pretty much sorted over time, as for manufactures claims on battery life, I always read these figures the same way I would read expected miles per gallon that car manufactures put out, meaning that there would only be a very select few that would ever get what the manufactures say you can get the rest of us will all get a very wide variation on these figures. I know that Nokia have acknowledged that there is an issue with battery life and not all of us have this issue, at this moment in time I'm not to unhappy with the battery life, but if it improves then I will be pleased. From all the posts I have read on this site it does seem that some people do read manufactures specifications as if there are set in stone, I'm not criticizing anyone here would just like to say that they are trying to sell you something so have a good look at the figures and maybe check them with other independent sources if at all possible. My only disappointment really is that we have to rely on other people and not Nokia themselves to let us know what’s going on, I wish the manufacture would be more open and quicker to let us know what’s going on and what they are doing to sort out problems and some sort of time frame that we could expect something to come out to fix a problem. I know bugs can me very difficult to find and ever more difficult to fix sometimes but if Nokia put out a weekly report about how things where going on bug fixes or forth coming updates it would help everyone in deciding where they are going with their chosen product.
    Again many thanks to all the people helping us all out and wish you all a happy bug free new year.

  • Wipe on Lumia 800 generate recurrent reset

    Hi,
    I wrongly did wipe my Lumia 800 (059M359).
    From there, everytime I configure my device, and begin to transfer more data to it (like 2, or 3 GB data), it freezes... and when I restart it (just pressing power button), it comes back totally empty (like a hard reset).
    Not surprising, I found another guy who has exalt the same problem. The only difference is that he has initiated the wipe on Windowsphone website, and me at OWA website.
    I took the device to the Nokia Care Point last Saturday, got it today, where they have updated firmware and OS version. But, again, when I started uploading data to it, it stopped working again, and I lost all my daily configuration.
    What should I do next?
    Thank you,
    Alessandro

    Hi Mineirinh0,
    Thanks for your posts and welcome to the forum.
    I would like to advise you to return to the Nokia Care point and ask for them to flash your Lumia, not just update the software. This will however wipe it clean and remove all personal data so make sure your have a backup by syncing media files using Zune and your contacts and calendar(s) to their respective accounts.
    If you want to contact Nokia directly on this please contact Nokia Care through phone, mail or chat (where available). Contact information for both Nokia Care and a Nokia Care Point can be found using this link. These forums are mainly a user to user support forum, please see the forum guidelines if you have any questions on using the forum.
    Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

    Hello, I have a problem with my Lumia 800 microphone.. when someone calls me, or I try to record a video it doesn't work, I can't hear what I sad in the video, neither people can hear me over their phone, but for example when I try to use voice command via Bing/Tell Me it works, it records my sounds. What's the problem?

    I got my new Lumia about 1 week ago and after switching from N900 to Lumia 800 I have been getting lot of complaints from people whom I talk with.
    Everybody starts the phone call the same way, by saying that is there something wrong, or am I in a speaker or a car or that it but no I'm talking to my Lumia keeping it in my hand at home or work, no speaker, no car, just normally talking.
    I have noticed that this happens randomly when keeping it on my hand, but it's easier to replicate the problem always by holding it with only my shoulder hands free. Could it be due to Nokias new background noise reduction feature?
    Anyone had the same issue or is it just my luck to have a faulty unit?
    As I understand that even if I replace it, I cannot backup my SMS messages to the new unit, do they have a way in the Nokia Care etc.?
    Nokia and Windows phone first impressions:
    I see it coming there, but now it seems like the version 1.0 with something still missing from the old Nokia, that needs to go to version 2.0 soon with a taste of Nokia in it, hopefully this year...

  • Lumia 800 has no "Podcast" option in MarketPlace?

    Hi All,
    I have a shiny new Lumia 800 and have read all support documentation I can find and, apparently, "to download an audio or video podcast on your phone" I go to "Start, tap Marketplace, and then tap Podcasts."
    My problem is that I go to "Start, tap Marketplace" and then find that there is actually no "Podcasts" option! I only have "Nokia collection", "applications", "games", and "music".
    Why no podcast option?
    Some documentation I've found says "Subscribing to podcasts on your phone is not available in all locations or languages." but I cannot find anywhere that lists if it should be available in Australia.
    Please, someone tell me I can get podcasts with this phone? If not, well... fail.
    Wondering if I need to download an app for this?
    Cheers,
    C.

    If, in Marketplace, you select 'Applications', then search for 'Podcast' you can see what is available to you.
    Personally I now download mine to laptop and sync via Zune.
