I depends on you plan to use it for, your budget and other personal considerations. Both are good buys. Do you want the 13” MacBook Air higher portability, less weight and longer battery life (12 hours) at a lower cost ($1400 for 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD) or a 15” MacBook Pro with higher cost, 75% of the battery life and 1.5 times the weight ($2000 with a similar memory and storage configuration)?
For most people 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM is sufficient and even though I don’t need it now I would purchase an 8 GB model because it only costs $100 more and as applications continue to use more memory it could help. I would definitely purchase 256 GB or more of SSD.
Personally I use an older 13” MBA with 4 GB of memory and 256 GB of SSD and that suites me well. When I had a 128 GB MBA it was too small. My files fit comfortably in 256 GB but then I only have about 40 GB of music and not many pictures and movies. Both the MBA and MBP can be configured with 512 GB of SSD if you need that much storage. I use my MBA with a 24” monitor and external keyboard and mouse on my work desk so I have a lot of screen space except when I am carrying it around.

If you were using Apple's BootCamp and received this message, quit it and open Disk Uility in your Applicaitons/Utilities folder.
Select the Macintosh HD partition on the left and select Erase and Erase Free Space > Zero option and let it complete (important) this will check the spare space for bad sectors that can cause issues formatting partitions.
Once it's completed, try creating a partiton again in BootCamp.
If that doesn't work, then hold command option r keys down while connected to a fast internet connection, Internet Recovery should load (spinning globe) and then in that Disk Utility, select your entire internal drive and click > First Aid > Repair Disk and Permissions.
reboot and attempt Bootcamp again.
If you still get a error, it might be that you have OS X data on the bottom area where BootCamp partition needs to go. This would occur if you had the drive or computer for a long time or wrote a large amount of files to the drive and nearly filling it up and then reduced some, but it left traces in the area BootCamp needs to go.
To fix this
BootCamp: "This disc can not be partitioned/impossible to move files."
How to safely defrag a Mac's hard drive -
my hard drive crashed on my MacBook Pro crashed and I need to get my CS5 up and running on the new hard drive. I copied what I could onto an external hard drive but when I drag and drop I get directions to uninstall but the uninstall folder I have does says it is an alias that is no longer present. I get error 6. I would like to get my software up and running on the laptop again please
If you subscribed to iTunes match the songs are kept in icloud. If you didn't but you did save the actual iTunes library folder which should include the music, video, etc. you should be able to just drag this file back to your machine in the same place and when you open iTunes it will give you a chance to identify the iTunes library folder.
You can test this to find out if you saved the media files or not and don't need to attach your nano to do it.
You are correct that once you connect the nano it will clear the existing files from it and sync it with the new iTunes library.
If you don't have the media files i'm not sure if/how to get them back on a windows ipod. I have everything backed up regularly because of the horror stories I have seen & heard. -
every time i try to download updates i get an error and told to restart my macbook pro. why? what to do?
This is a rare error, so excuse me if I ask some basic questions:
1. Do you update your Apple software through the Software Update pulldown menu? If not, I'd suggest doing that.
2. Do you perform diagnostics? If not, you can perform a Permissions check by going to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and running it.
3. Do you perform other diagnostics? Download Onyx to your Mac, and perform a full diagnostic on your machine. You'll need to reboot.
4. Have you tried to download updates individually from Apple? Not the perfect solution, but there's a good chance it will work.
5. Have you used Terminal? If you go to Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type "sudo softwareupdate --install --all", and enter. Software Update should work.
6. If all fails, consult help at your Apple Store, if there's one nearby. -

1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!

Please please please helpMy suggestion - go with the maxed out Air.
Right now, there are so many issues with the Retina. Nothing against the Retina since I ordered one.
In any event, you can go with the Retina if you wish and if you're not happy with it, you can return it within the 14 days return/exchange policy and then go with the Macbook Air if you wish to do so.
Whatever you decide to purchase in the end, I'm sure you'll be quite happy with it.

Have a Macbook Pro and a 4th gen iPod Touch. Downloaded and install iOS 4.3.2 yesterday. Upgrade went without a hitch, but now iTunes on My Macbook Pro will not open. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN??That many cycles is amazing service. A battery that consistently shuts down at about the same charge level percentage every time probably has a bad cell (that info came form an Apple technician) and needs to be replaced.
It's given you far longer service than many of us get, and may be a new record around here for cycle count!
