What Should my sequence settings for H264, 1280x720/30fps be.  Pro Res422?

I have a job coming up and an fully aware of the nightmare of editing H.264.  The footage I've got was shot on a flip camera.  H.264, 1280x720 at 30fps.  The deliverable is DVD.  Am I right in choosing ProRes 422 for the sequence settings?  I notice when comparing the clip in the browser window to the same clip in the viewer window, the clip in the viewer window looks a tad wider.  Is this a pixel aspect thing.
My sequence settings are as follows;
Under the General Tab;
Frame Size: 1280x720
Aspect ratio: HDTV 720p (16:9)
Pixel Aspect Ratio:  Square  (Anamorphic 16:9 is unchecked0
Field Dominance: Lower (even)
Editing Timebase: 29.97
QuickTime Video Settings:
Compressor: Apple ProRes 422
Quality: 100
Audio: 44.1

Shane, thank you for your reply.   I want to be sure I understand you correctly.  Convert the footage before bringing it in to FCP (compressor), or can I just render in the time line as I build the sequence?  I plan on exporting a same as file for use in DVD studio Pro for a deliverable.

thats way too vague of a question... best what?  quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate.

  • What should your sequence settings be when editing with H264 in CC?

I keep getting a yellow bar when editing with H264 no matter what I make my settings as.  Is there a way to fix this?

    Hi jdib,
That's pretty normal for DSLR footage. Check out this article: http://blogs.adobe.com/premierepro/2011/02/red-yellow-and-green-render-bars.html

  • What should my sequence settings be for this situation?

    Hello everyone,
I'm about to start a project with a few different formats combined on the same sequence, so I'm wondering what format you would all use for the sequence?
    My project will consist of:
    10% DVCPRO HD 720p60 footage from a P2 card
    10% AVCHD 1080i30 footage from a Canon Vixia HF20
10% Quicktime Animation footage created in After Effects
70% JPEG images (slide show) of resolutions larger than 1920 x 1080
I'm not sure of the resolution of the Quicktime Animation footage from After Effects, since I haven't created it yet.  I'll create it with a resolution that matches my sequence resolution.
I'm thinking the sequence resolution should be 1080p30, to take advantage of the high res JPEG images.  The final delivery will be a h.264 file for web streaming on Vimeo.
So this is where I need the help:  what sequence format should I use for editing?  Is this a good situation in which to use a ProRes format?  I've never used ProRes on a PC before, and I'm not really sure which specific ProRes format would be best to use here.
I'm editing with Premiere Pro CS5 on a PC, and I do have the latest version of Quicktime Pro installed.
    Thanks!
    Mike Tomei

Yeah, I agree... edit at 720, because that's the maximum for Vimeo, and also your smallest footage is at 720... bringing it up to 1080 may make it look bad.
I've edited mixed footage before, and I generally use the sequence for the "hardest" footage to edit (which is generally AVCHD). I do it no because I know that to be the best, but because I DON'T know what information specifically goes into the different sequences, and I do know that AVCHD can tax my system, so when I have to use it, I try to optimize for it.

  • Sequencs settings for hi-res photos ?

I have hi-res photos each is a different size. some are very large, 6000x3798, others not so large, 1920x1278.  My client wants HD 1920x1080.  what should my sequence settings be so as not to get something that looks anamorphic yet contain all the information in the photo?
    Thanks in advanced.

First make sure all images are in RGB Color Mode - not Grayscale, Indexed or CMYK.  Note the 'color mode' isn't the same thing as 'color profile.'
FCP's resolution limit is 4000 pixels so you definitely want to keep images smaller than that.  Since your Sequence settings are for 1080, it would be best to limit the image's sizes to just what you need for those settings.  i.e.; if you don't plan to zoom in on any of the images, then too many pixels more than 1920x1080 would be a waste.  If you plan to zoom in or pan across, then you may want to double the resolution of your Sequence.
As for containing all of the information on the photo, be aware that still images seldom have the same aspect ratio  or orientation as video.  So if you have a vertically oriented photo and want to show it all from top to bottom, there will be black on each side once in an FCP Sequence.

  • Best Sequence settings for Panasoic Dvx100a...still trying to slow mo.

Ok, so im editing this guys film. He filmed on his Dvx100a at 24p with this Scene advance look thing on....not to sure that the Scene advance look does...
Anyways. We are..as we have posted a few times before trying to slow a few shots...everything looks like it could be better. What should are Sequence settings be set at? right now they are
    Frame size 740-480
    Pixel aspect ratio NTSC_CCIR 601/DV
    QuickTime Video setting
    Compressor DV/DVCPRO-ntsc
    Video Processing
    Render in 8-bit YUV
We read that we may need to use Cinema tools tools to do something to it?
I hope that gives you the info you need to help figure this one
We also tried to use shake...but we couldent do much, its my first time using it.
Thank....you guys need to get paid for this

FCP has a distinct slow motion look, I personally find it distinctly unappealing. As previous posts have suggested, you should do the slow motion work in shake.
shake is a completely different beast than final cut. I recommend taking a look at the below link- it's a wonderful tutorial by the captain.
    http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/pagewrapper.cgi?forumid=8&page=http://www.creativecow.net/articles/mench_michael/slo wmotion/index.html
In conclusion, Getting a really good film-like slow motion look is going to be impossible because there just are not enough images being captured on the tape per second when shooting in 24Pa mode. But shake will do a better job at it than final cut.
    Good luck.

  • Sequence settings for 16:9

    Hi,
Just doing some PAL tests of 16:9 HD to 16:9 SD downconvert.
What are the sequence settings for this?
If I use the normal DV PAL 48khz, the VIEWER window shows a normal 16:0 ratio, but the CANVAS window shows a letterboxed 4:3 window. When I export this project, I get a letterboxed 4:3.
If I need to give my European client a 16:9 SD project, what are the sequence settings.
    Thank you kindly!

    Thanks Michael,
I still get images in FCP and QT exports that are letterboxed. Is that normal? I guess I assumed 16:9 FCP project windows and QT export movies would be all image and no letterbox within a 4:3 window.

  • Sequence settings for HD

what are the exact sequence settings for cutting 1080i60 footage in FCP? From my understanding; it's 1920 X 1080 with 59.94fps. But what fields should render first; upper or lower? I also need to know this info for using After Effects; I need to know the specifications so I can render my animations.
If there is anything else I should know, please let me know. thanks.

Open your preset in FCP or check your sequence settings and all that information will be there.

  • Proper sequence settings for importing Canon Rebel T2i footage

Greetings, all. I searched the forum and didn't find this question answered elsewhere, so I thought I'd ask.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, version 4.2.1, and I'm trying to find the ideal sequence settings for the Canon Rebel T2i, which records in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, with adjustable frame rate. I am running on Apple Mac OSX 10.8.2.
I've been editing with this footage for over a year now, and it's always been a struggle because I have to render all footage before I can even play it in Premiere. When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow.
I'd like to see if I'm doing this incorrectly; to know if I have a simple sequence setting that's incorrect. What sequence settings should I use for my imported footage to start out green and not require a lengty render for video that isn't even edited yet?
    Thank you,
    -Matt

    >When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow
I think this is written for CS5, but the concept should be the same

  • What should be the procedure for  export parameter in CATT

    Hello Everybody,
I am working with CATT, and the transactions are <b>ME21N</b> and <b>MIGO</b>.
when i am executing the transaction <b>ME21N</b> i will get the <b>Pur Ord No</b>in the message, and i would like to export <b>Pur Ord No</b> to the transaction <b>MIGO</b> as thr is one field named Purch.ord no in Migo.
what should be the Procedure for exporting a parameter?
    Thanks,
    Regards Afroz

    Hello Afroz,
If you are using eCATT then following is the procedure of capturing messages in the two recording methods - TCD & SAPGUI.
    => TCD Recording Mode:
In TCD recording mode, after dobleclicking on Interface name from the TCD command in the editor on left side, just before the MSG folder DYNPRO folder will appear on right side.
-This DYNRPO folder contains the screen sequences contain the screen occurred during recording time. The last Dynpro of this folder contains the messages occurred during recording.
-Select this last folder & click on Simulate Screen icon of the same Interface editor. It will redirect to the screen where the message values exist. There select the Purchase Order Number and click on Read Field Value icon. Give the name of Export Variable.
The export variable will contain the value of the purchase order number, which can be passed to MIGO.
    => SAPGUI Recording Mode:
In the SAPGUI recording mode, the screen on which the message appeared will be used to capture the variable name, which is Purchase Order Number in this case.
If the Purchase Order Number is second variable of the message displayed(e.g. Purchase Number 2122323 Is Created)
then use the following code -
    e.g.
    MESSAGE ( MSG_1 ).
    SAPGUI ( ME21N_4001_STEP_5 ).
    ENDMESSAGE ( E_MSG_1 ).
Assing the value from the message to the export
    parameter
    P_EC_PurOrdNo = E_MSG_1-[1]-MSGV2.
There are total four MSGV1-MSGV4 variables. Dobule click on MSG_1 of the MESSAGE statement above. Putting the value in the export variable from the right message variable will give the purchase order number. This can be passed as MIGO.
    Regards

  • What are Novells recommended settings for policies

    Hello,
Who can tell me please what are Novells recommended settings for policies? Should we make a few big Policy where everything is handled (for example a policy for standalone workstations, one for desktop PCs, one for notebooks etc..) or single policies (for example "Desktop Wallpaper", "Enable Active Desktop", or "Turn off Aero Shake window minimizing mouse gesture" and so on) and put them in a PolicyGroup. What is the best way?

The fewer the policies the better.
Generally Folks do something such as a WS assigned policy as a baseline
and then a user one to over-ride.
Trying to create one policy per setting would likely cause windows great
confusion as well as being very slow.

Please sugget me T-Code to view this.
Can I see say for 6-9 months RR done insp. lot.
    Thanks

Settings for Quality Certificate for Raw material from vendor,
Activate QM Procurement key, enter qm control key with certificate and Enter certificate type in certificate field.
    There are 2 cases,
u want details of certificate send by vendor
u want to record results and see inspection lot wise results.
    case1
depending upon the certificate selected by u, system will give u warning or error msg for certificate confirmation at the time of gr. for confirmation QC51 t_code is used. here status has to be changed to 'filed and inspected' then gr will be allowed.
all these certificates can be dispalyed in QC55 T_CODE.
    CASE2
U can record results and see in inspection report tab in QA33

You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..
