What size is a video file recorded with ipod touch 4g

just would like to know about what size would a one minute video recorded with the touch be, the same for a picture taken with it.  so i have an idea of which size ipod i should get.  of course, i'd like the 64gb, but right now i have a 32gb 1st gen touch loaded with 650 songs, 10 movies, photos and apps. it still has 18gb available.

Thanks, it would be safe to guess that a picture wouldn't be more than 3 MB.  So, I would think that for what I'll be using an iPod, another 32gb should be enough as long as I download the files to a computer periodically.

  • Audio line in while recording with ipod touch

Looking at buying a 5th Gen touch to record local basketball games.  Need the ability to record the audio live broadcast into my live video of the game so I am wondering if I can use the video camera of the touch and record a seperate audio track with the video being recorded with a line in option.  I have used a sd camcorder with a line in capability playing the local radio station audio as I record but dont know it this can be done with a ipod touch.  I could use the camera app or imovie app to record but not sure if separate audio track is possible with them or will it just record from the mic of the ipod touch?

You can connect a mic to the iPod via the headphone jack and that mic will be used by the video app you use for the video camera on the iPod. I do not remember if the built-in mic gets cut off when yo do that so you may have to cover the mic hole on the iPod.

  • File sharing with ipod touch accross the net

Can I set up file sharing to have access to my home itunes library which would be in one location on my home mac while using my touch at another location and many states away from my home box ?
    thanks

I have a similar problem - trying to share the internet connection of my MBP via airport to my ipod touch. It works sometimes. Directly after activating Internet Sharing it can load a page or two, then it usually gets stuck.
At the (apple certified) store around the corner, they were able to reproduce the problem, but said it is a software problem, rather than an airport issue.
There is another thread about random behaviour with internet sharing: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1164535&tstart=0
On a friends iBook, the same thing works perfectly...
My initial guess was a wrong mtu value - but couldn't fix it so far...

  • Resizing a video file recorded with quicktime

    Hi
I have recorded my screen with Quicktime for 2 hours and the file went upto 12 GB. I want to resize that file as it is a waste to keep the file with that size. Can anyone help me in resizing the file.

If only part of the screen is of issue then use MPEG Streamclip (free) , set the export (to MPEG-4 and select an iTunes preset like iPod or iPhone) to the same size as your screen (1900 X1200 etc.), then use crop, which is a bit of a hit or miss proposition to crop left, right, top, bottom to save and export just the part you want to see.
There is an export preview in Streamclip so you can see in seconds what you are going to get and estimating the cropping points is not that hard, as you know how big the screen is and if you want 1/3 in the middle you set left and right crop to be 1/3 of the width each.
Note the end result is scaled down to the crop settings so it is not 1900X1200 using this example, it might be 600X400 etc. Just the part you want, life size.

  • How do I find the size of a video file in iTunes store?

Is there any way to find out how big a video file is before I download it to my computer? I see that movies show the file size in the product description, but what about episodes of a TV show? Or a complete season? Or a video in iTunes U?
I tried "right clicking" (or whatever that's referred to on a Mac, sorry, I just recently got my Mac) to get info on a few files, but it says the size is unavailable. I have an iPod Touch I'd like to get videos for, but I don't have a ton of space after putting all my music on it, so that's why I'd like to know the file sizes in advance.

You can figure for a 1 hour TV show - about 40-45 minutes of video - you will have a file size of about 450-550 meg.
A movie such as Pirates of the Carri..... will weigh in around 1.6-1.8 gig.

  • Video files produced with E90 doesn't play on oth...

Hi all, the video file produce with my E90 communicator is not compatible with my other Nokia phone model's RealPlayer, can someone please tell me what exactly is the video format of E90?
Do I need to install a codes in order to play on other Nokia phone models? I assume it was Mpeg4.

First, try going to store at the top of itunes and check for purchases. Just to make sure that the movie was finished downloading.
If the video did not download correctly, then the only way to fix it is to download it again.
In your account screen in the itunes store, there is a purchase history section. In this section, you can report problems with music, movies or anything that you have downloaded.
Try using the purchase history section to report a problem and let the itunes store support that an error keeps coming up that the movie did not down load correctly

  • Problem viewing videos I recorded with the phone

When trying to view videos I recorded with the phone, It gives me a message saying it is impossible to view this multimedia file format!
It has been recorded with the phone and it can't watch it on the phone!? It doesn't recognize its own recording format
    Help please

If the format is in 3GP you can view it with a player called VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/), or can try a video conversion program to convert it into a format your computer can read. Once such program can be found here http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Converter.aspx

  • What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6?

What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6? I am tired of the guess work of "this might work if you do this." Just tell me which is, flat out, the easiest for Premiere to read?? I generally animate in Adobe Flash, and some times with a Live camera. Premiere seems to pick and choose which video file it wants. I import from the File drop down box in the upper left hand corner, then move the video file to timeline. Under the "scrubber" there is a thin red, (or when rendered) a green line. The videos I put in the timeline show a thin yellow line which means Premiere is confused. So, in basic terms, which video format is MOST commonly accepted with the least amount of trouble/hassle?

Premiere has a function now where you can import a clip and drag onto a timeline and it will prompt you with a message about changing the timeline settings to match your clip, (or if there is no timeline it will automatically create one that matches your clip.) This is in CC of course so you might consider upgrading. They have fixed a lot of compatibility issues from CS6 to now. If you don't want to get all of CC for 60/month then you can at least shell out 20/month on premiere. It's worth it. They've made it where you don't have to worry about 99% of all video formats. They just work.

  • I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?

I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?
    Detail:
I've recently purchaced a 4TB Thunderbolt drive to store my "vast" music and photo libraries. iPhoto had an issue reading the moved library, so I bought and used iPhoto Library Manager to "rebuild" it. Apart from much of the original data such as date taken & camera used etc, it appears to be working well. The aforementioned mpg video was taken some 9 years ago, using an early model "iMate" smart phone, and opens and plays fine on iPhoto, but I cannot open it with anything else, (I've tried iMovie, VLC players, Wondershare and Handbrake) nor can I share it. I just want to edit it, and share it with family.
    Any help would be appreciated...

No - not iMovie, VLC, Wondershare or Handbrake... Quick time starts with a "CONVERTING", then I get
I've looked at the "tell me more" links, tried downloading some of the movie players there. I'm begining to think the file is corrupt.

  • Video files exported with QuickTime Pro 7.2 can't be transferred to iPod

If I use the default Export to iPod export choice in QuickTime Pro 7.2 to export video files and add them to my iTunes 7.3 library, when I try to sync them to my 5th generation iPod with video (November, 2005), I just get the "can't be played on this iPod" message. I can create, transfer, and play video files on my iPod if I create them a different way (by using iSquint, ffmpegX, or No Frills DVD2iPod, for example). Exporting to mpeg4 using h.264 results in the same problem, even though I've used settings I know worked before. The export to iPod export choice does not offer any customization of settings. Although this problem is new, I can't be sure the immediately previous version of QuickTime Pro didn't also have the problem, but I know I have successfully used QuickTime 7 to create videos that could be transferred and played on my iPod in the past. How can I use QuickTime Pro 7.2 to create video files that will be compatible with my iPod? Thanks.
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I can also verify this (QT Pro 7.2 exporting to .mp4 not compatible
with video iPod [firmware 1.2.1 on both 5G/5.5G units]).
This results in the unusual situation where custom H.264 output
is operable on the iPhone but not the iPod.
    Example: your iPhone should play
    http://homepage.mac.com/retiarius/sample.elements.mp4
but it won't transfer to a video iPod.
Yes, the workaround is to 'export for iPod' or do the conversion
within 'iTunes', but this in many circumstances will generate
    larger files.
The closest description of this situation is:
    http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2006-September/015930.html
Perhaps Apple will release a video iPod firmware update soon
to get the 'uuid' atoms and whatever watermarking they are
    using these days straightened out.
I'm surprised this hasn't been noticed more by video podcasters
who dutifully use Apple's own QT Pro encoding tool to optimize
filesizes via the tunable H.264/.mp4 codec settings.

  • Getting video files to your iPod

    Q. How do I get video files to my iPod?
    A. First of all for DVD's and the like, you'll need a video capture device(a.k.a. a video card that usually comes with a program that allows you to record video from a number of sources).
Once you've recorded your file which might not be Mpeg-4 or H.264 but will probably be AVI or WMV, what I recommend at this point is the iPod video converter from Xilisoft. this powerful little tool will enable you to open just about any file(WMV,MPEG,AVI...and so on) and convert it to and iPod compatible format. The plus of this program compared to others is not only can you download a trial version, but you get five full minutes of recording without any watermarks(basically print over your new recording that usually says "trial version" or something that can only be removed by purchasing the full version of the product.)
Third, for editing this is where you can put the 40 bucks you spent on quicktime pro to some use. Now you should be able to open your file in Quicktime without any problems and edit your video for final viewing. (That's if you need to of course. Some video capturing devices don't allow you to do editing.)
Lastly, if you can't be bothered with all this editing stuff, drop your new video file into your iPod in iTunes, right click the file once iPod is updated, select "get info". One of the tabs should allow you to input the point or time you want the file to start playing.

They first need to be in iTunes. Find them on the music store under podcasts.
Once they are there, connect the iPod and go to edit-->preferences in iTunes. Clcik the iPod tab. Then click the videos tab. Make sure update all videos is selected. Then click the podcasts tab under the iPod and make sure that update all podcasts is selected. Click OK.
If they are not in the right format, then right click an epsidoe and go to convert selection for iPod. You can highlight multiple episodes and convert them at once.

  • Video podcasts no longer sync with iPod Touch

I am using latest version of iTunes 10.1.1 (4) and latest os 10.6.5 on MacBook Pro with iPod Touch (gen 3). I subscribe to a video podcast and in beginning it worked, but for last 2 months though they download into iTunes and I can watch them, they are either not syncing to my iPod or I cannot find them. Before they were in Podcast list along with audio podcasts.

Yeah I noticed some videos we'rent syncing to my iPod 5th Gen now that I switched to Mac, and reformatted my iPod, and was reminded that some items wouldn't transfer. These were certain podcasts, as well as a HD TV Show Episode. (I thought HD TV show purchases came with a SD version for iPod, but maybe it got lost in the transfer or I deleted it sometime)....but WHATEVER:
If you want, you can convert any video file to a format that fits iPod/iPhone, or even iPad/Apple TV, here's how:
Select the video item(s) you wish to make a compressed version for, and click ADVANCED on the menu bar. Then select "Create iPod/iPhone Version" or "Create iPad/Apple TV Version" depending on what you are syncing too. If these options are greyed out, it means it is not necessary to do this as those devices already can support the file as is. iTunes will then convert, and presto, you have a copy which will go onto your device!
