What social networking sites are you on?

Just thought I'd run a quick straw poll past the inhabitants to see who's using what.
For instance, I have a Blogger account, a Live Journal, and most recently joined up to Linked In. I've steadfastly avoided MySpace and FaceBook, but I know some people can't live without them.
So, who's got a presence where? Perhaps you think they're all a waste of time? It may be a good opportunity for people to make some connections.

A new social networking site launched this week. Here's more information:
Check out Share the Love www.share-the-love.net, an online global community which provides a platform to express yourself. Simply upload your creative poem, verse, haiku or limerick in English and translate it into 40 different languages. Then see how love can spread around the world by tracking your poems by the number of times theyve been sent [via e-cards, Facebook and additional social networking applications], downloaded and translated!

  • Social Network Site Framework Recomendations

A new client has approached me with an idea to build a social
    network site.
The site would be directed toward college "in class notes"
    and "homework
assignments". Members would each have a personal page and
    there would be a
general discussion forum. The site would allows members to
    upload text (in
class notes and homework) and graphics (.jpg's) to be shared
    with and
downloaded by other members. The site would have a search
    function to locate
documents by class, instructor or subject.
My client wants to set this up for a single college but hopes
    to expand to
    more universities later.
I'm looking for recommendations, is there an existing
    framework for this
type of site, preferably free and in php?

I'm not sure if they'll do what you want, but there are some
    Social
Networking "frameworks" out there that let you pick and
    choose the features
you want and customize it. They might work for what you want:

  • Problems posting Video into Social Network Site

Many social networking sites don't allow audios or videos to
be posted to their blog via the use of iframe. I've successfully
used the following code on a ning.com blog:
    <object type="text/html" data="
    http://www.deskping.com/PlayWeb.aspx?IsPlayList=False&MediaId=6c12a24d-af46-4ed5-b947-b778 53b6e3c2&width=320&height=265&playerStyle=V001&scrollingText
    = " width="320" height="265"> </object>
That code will not post the video to a social site called
    yuwie.com.
I've contacted Yuwie support about how to post to them. All
    they say is:
"Your object type is text/html we don't show objects of that
type because you're basically trying to embed another web page into
your profile. We don't allow this for security reasons. What other
sites do is irrelevant... You can easily just embed it with the
    standard flash embed code."
Can anyone give some guidance here on how to configure code
that would work in the listed social site?
    Your help appreciated.

If you have clicked "Never" the first time you visited the site then Firefox has created an exception and you need to remove that exception if you want Firefox to store the password.

What trusted web sites do you use that have free or purchase photoshop brushes?

The size and resolution depends on the intended output.
In my opinion relevant zooming shortcuts would be cmd-0 (View > Fit on Screen), cmd-1 (View > 100%) and cmd-spacebar/cmd-alt-spacebar to temporarily switch the current Tool to the Zoom Tool.

  • Connecting to Social networking sites via weblink

    Hi
We have a req where in the user needs to go to the contacts Likedin profile from his contact page. In all the social network sites each profile is marked by a specific id. I tried using that id and passing it in the weblink whereby its working fine and I can view the contacts social net profile, But that id no user will know , I wanted to know how can I pass the contact name or email id and then view their profile page(I am assuming here that the contact name and the likedin profile name is the same).
Kindly give me inputs on the same.
    Thanks

Rocket League. Just need to unlock some more things. Plus the travel 500kl trophy is annoying as far as i can tell there is now progression stat to let you know how long left you are of the trophy.
I got the 500km trophy today whilst I was at work. Jammed the left stick with a blob of blue-tack and wedged the R2 button with a bit of folded card.
Exhibition match 1v1 no bots disabled the internet connection and left my PS4 running all day, according to the screenshot it unlocked mid afternoon actual milage was around 90km.Some say it'll unlock around 70km and has to be done on one set of wheels,if you want to do it my way I suggest you do it before the 1.03 update arrives this week it might get nerfed.
Thanks for the tip. So I take it I have to disable internet incase it updates? Can't I just somehow stop auto updates?
Not really necessary to disable the Internet connection but because I was out all day at work I did incase anyone wanted to message me or invite me to a game etc I wouldn't be able to reply.

  • What cheap hosting sites are compatible with Mac?

Hi, I am trying to set up a website for the first time, and have no idea what hosting sites are reliable or compatible with Mac's could anyone give me any ideas? I am looking at the moment at justhost.com fatcow and hostclear. I have looked at reviews for reliability, but it mentions nothing about compatibility. Thanks

iWeb hasn't received a major update since January 2009. As you're "trying to set up a website for the first time", consider alternatives to iWeb that are regularly updated with new features.
"...unless Apple substantially updates iWeb (not holding my breath), it really is time to move on. There are many compelling, equally user-friendly, alternatives that are far more flexible than iWeb. (...) Apple is doing us all a favor pushing us to providers that specialize in web creation and hosting. There are cheaper, better, and faster options." (Source)
One alternative (of many) is the free, web-based Weebly. Unlike iWeb, you'll be able to update your site from any Mac or PC and hosting is free and easy — simply hit the Publish button.
"Dear Apple, Thank you for dragging your feet in total indifference and neglect of countless iWeb users. (...) Now I have found Weebly (www.weebly.com), and I'm kicking myself for not knowing about it before." (Source)

  • Social network sites requesting more info - is it safe to give?

Many of these free services - Facebook, GMail, etc, ask for additional personal information to help validate your identity. It seems counter-intuitive.  If some of these sites can be hacked, do I want them to store additional information about me?
Is it safe to provide such information?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Most web site registration requests require a valid email address and the member's name. Anything beyond that is intrusive for a simple web site "registration" membership just to play a game or view and send email.
There are some other aspects to web site membership you should consider before offering any other information regarding your identity. Some of these would be relative to the "purpose" behind your registration, and what type of web site.
For example, you decide to perform your banking online. Your bank's web site is going to require much more personal information than just an email address and your name. In that example, you can see the need for providing such information. Before you do however, you should make certain the web site has protective features available, starting with the web site protocol itself.
When registering at a web site that requires personal information, look in the address bar of your browser. Make sure the web site address line starts with "HTTPS://".
Never use the same password at every site.  If that site should be compromised, your account information could be readily available to the hacker.
You can have different passwords for different accounts. One way to keep track of this is to have an address book—the actual paper kind that you write in with a pen—stored near the computer (but not at it, or at least, out of sight from it). Such books are a great place to keep mnemonics and tips to help you answer password recovery questions for web sites.  Keep in mind, though, that you should not write the actual answers to the questions in there, just something that helps you remember your answer.
If it is too much of a hassle to use a different password for every site, then use passwords for different types of sites, e.g. use a very strong password for financial sites, another strong password for email accounts, and an easier password for general site accounts.

  • What photo web site do you use?

Since Lightroom has the function to create a web page with images, I think it is an appropriate question for this forum.
Which web site do you use and how easy is it to load your images from Lightroom?
    Thanks,
    Dave

SmugMug, there is an export plug-in available for it free. Works ok, but
have my own issues with SmugMug, mostly the buggy and poorly done
geo-tagging. They know of the bugs and what causes them (I helped them track
them down) but still haven't fixed them.

  • General Forum Question: What Contact Synch Method Are You Using?

This is a question directed towards all forums members using SynchManager to synchronize B2B customers between Web Tools and SAP Business One.
Of the four possible methods listed below:
    - WebTools UserID Field
    - Email Address
    - BusinessOne InternalCode
    - Seek and Choose
Which one are you using to synchronize your data?
We're trying to decide between Email Address, BusinessOne InternalCode, and Seek and Choose.

    Hi Micheal,
I can not tell you what people are using, but the pros and cons are as follows:
Webtools UserID (the exposed field on the BP contact)
This is the best option if you are willing to do the work of setting this property for all of you users in a meaningful way.
Pros:  Allows you assign a meaningful login name for users of the website
Cons:  You have to assign he userids (a lot of work if you have 10s of thousands of contacts)
    EmailAddress
Pros:  hopefully, everyone knows their email address.  So this is a meaningful login name.
Cons: B1 does not require email address, so the user will probably end up with an OCPR ID if they don't have an email address.
    B1 internal code
    Pros:  it always works
Cons: no wants to be a number.  Your login name will be "1234", password = "whydoIhavesuchahorriblelogin"
    Seek and Choose
I consider this the best option, unless you have a better algorithm to populate NPUserID than described below (let me know if you do )
The seek and choose routine works as follows:
    1.  if they have an NPUserID, user that
    2.  if they have an email address, user that
    3.  use the B1 internal code
Pros:  User will have the best possible login name.
Cons: You do not know which option the user ended up with
    One last note:
v630 (p10--or whatever we are calling it these days), has added a login name to the Webtools user.  This addresses the glaring problem of not being able to change login name.  Now the user can change their own login.  (why did this take 5 years?).  Hopefully, this will make this decision less daunting.
