What software do I use to make cd/dvd labels?

I enjoyed using iDVD to put together a slideshow for an 80th birthday party.  Now I want to share the slideshow on dvd's, but what software should I use to make dvd labels and jewel case covers?

I agree 100% with Klaus1. You don't want to use stick on labels. If you have an Epson R series printer you can print directly to discs with it.
For printing on discs or making case inserts/covers one application that I like is Discus.  Here are some of the designs I've created and used with it:

  • What software do I need to make a dvd? I am trying Toast right now in addition to iMovie with no luck.

    MBP w/ Retina Display, 2.3 Ghz i7 16 GB OS X 10.9.4 NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB.
    1. We have dozens of video clips from our iPhones (4s and 5s) that we have imported into iMovie.
    2. My wife has put together a couple projects using iMovie.
    3. We own Toast Titanium.
    4. We have made several dvds that aren't recognizable by the sony BR/dvd player in the house OR the Pioneer BDXL drive we're using to burn the dvds.
    5. Tried burning at 480
    6. Toast won't even let us drag the mp4 file from the desktop into the video window.
Is there a "manual" somewhere out there or a task list?
Or is my best bet to order a copy of iLife 11 and use iDVD?
Help us, Obi-wan. You're our only hope!

    Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 09 and 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

  • Is there ANY software I can use to make a DVD playable by PC's Macs and DVD

OK, I have been fooling around for over a year on this and still have no answers. Here's part of my original post. I have home movies that were done with film and transfered to m2p files. I want to make copies for my daughters, who have DVD players and PCs. One has a Mac. I used Toast 10 to convert to mpeg4. I burned a DVD with Toast. It plays on the PCs and on the DVD players, but NOT my Mac. I tried H264 format...same thing. I can burn the mpeg4 files to a DVD with Quicktime Pro and they play on my Mac, but not on the DVD players. Commercial movies play on anything. Is there anyway I can do this on my Mac???
    Jim Frank (still perplexed)

Thanks Jeremy, here's what I can tell you. I played a commercial DVD in my Mac and it played fine. It opens up with DVD player. I put the DVD I made in the Mac. I made several of them in different manners. On one, I converted the m2p file to mpeg 4. Then I burned in Toast , selecting DVD_video. On another, I did a convert to H264 and burned it using DVD_video. The third I just copied the m2p file into Toast and used DVD_video. When I did the burn on all 3, I went to the menu option and put in a title and used the passport style for my title page.
When I put the DVD in the Mac, it automatically opened to the Title page, in passport style. When y ou click on the play button, nothing happens. Can't fast forward, can't open menu, etc. I closed out DVD player and went to Quicktime player. I clicked on "open file" and selected the DVD in the finder window. When I click on it, it opens to the Audio_ts and Video_TS folder. Clicking on the video folder I get 8 different folders in there. Clicking on most of them does nothing. Clicking on the one that looks like a Quicktime folder, I get the message " not a movie folder" I also tried to open it using VLC player. It opens u p the Title page, like DVD player and you can't get it to play.
So now what do you think!

Why can't I install iTunes on Windows RT? Is Microsoft deciding what software I can use?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Theoretically, Microsoft is deciding what apps you can install. In Windows RT, you can only install apps from the Windows Store and they must be ARM-based, things that Apple and iTunes don't meet, so you can't use iTunes in Windows RT

  • What software should I use to create a family budget?

I use my Mac mostly for internet and word processing so I know I'm not touching 90% of the functionality. I want to create a household budget but the template in my ('09?) version of Numbers is not robust enough. Are there any suggestions on how to create a household budget? What software should I use? Thank you!

There are dozens of apps designed to help with household budgets, but few are free. May I suggest you look for apps that have a free trial version, and try them out before spending money on something you may not like:

  • What setting should be used to make the smallest size quicktime video file.

What setting should I use to make a small sized movie for my family that lives 1200 miles away. I am using the iSight with QT Pro 7.0.4 and will be emailing them via Apple Mail to my mom that uses the most current version of AOL for PC with a 1 Meg DSL connection. The reason I am emailing them is she does not have a camera to live chat.
The first movie I tried was over 4 meg and these files have to go over the internet. It bounced back saying it was to big. It was only a minute long.
Mac Mini 1.42 8X DVD+-RW Dual Layer 24X CD-RW 250 Gig Ministack Version 2   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Apple Bluetooth keyboard 19" Nec VGA CRT Flat Screen 1 Gig Memory iSight

Make your recordings and then open the QuickTime movie.
Use the Share menu and choose the email small setting. You'll get an estimated file size in the dialog window.
Your viewers must have QuickTime 7 installed to view these files.

What behavior would I use to make a bitmap image shake? Thanks.

There are several options for making images (or any object) shake:
    -Earthquake Filter
    -Randomize Behavior (Parameter Behaviors)
    -Wriggle Behavior (Parameter Behaviors)
You can apply these to the X&Y together, or 1 instance to each channel.

What programs should I use to make an interactive children's ebook for ipad?

Adobe has a DPS add-on for InDesign (http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-publishing-suite-single.html) and it handles all the page transitions as well as swapping between portait and landscape. I think the way most people work is the pages are built in inDesign and regions of animation from EA are added second. But if every page had full screen animation, I suppose you may want to build your pages in Edge first.

I mean the software that installed my application on client's machine. E.g. by click button Next, Next ...>Try clicking some of the 'buttons'(1) on the [webstart API examples|http://pscode.org/jws/api.html] page.

  • What software can be used to manipulate photos on original ipad

what software can be used to manipulate photos on original ipad

There are a number of photo apps available in the iTunes app store e.g. the free Adobe Photoshop Express can do some basic editing (you won't get anything as sophisticated as Photoshop on a Mac/PC), and with iOS 5 the Photos app will allow you to :
Crop, rotate, enhance, and remove red-eye without leaving the Photos app
Though I'm not entirely sure whether that will apply just to photos taken with the iPad or all photos in the Photos app.

  • What program is apple using to make there website?

I was wondering (because I would like a website as powerful as apples and as easy to use as iweb). What Program did apple use to make there website and do you need multiple programs to do those things such as. the way buttons are animated not using flash, and the search function, and forums and store, etc.
Anyways, this aught to be an interesting discussion

There is really no way to know what Apple uses to build their site.
There is no reason why you can not make a good looking, fast site in iWeb. The only reason why your website may not look as nice is because you are probably not a professional website designer like the people behind Apple's site.
If your site is too slow consider reducing the number of images you use on your website, making sure your text is not converted to images, you switch to a real web hosting provider and not rely on MobileMe, and you run your iWeb website through a web site optimizer.

What software can I use on my new Mac that no longer supports "AppleWorks"? To easily transfer my database for mailmerge.

    Two thoughts:
    (1)     It is possible that your Adobe software was the result of belonging to a now-discontinued Adobe Print Service Provider program where for a certain annual membership fee, print service providers were provided with (a) both a Windows and Macintosh license to the Adobe print-oriented software products (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat) and (b) special direct product support as well as the ability to put your name on Adobe's website as a member of this program. The program ended over a year ago if I remember correctly.
    (2)     You may wish to contact Adobe Customer Support (not Technical Support) and see if they can track down any and all licenses associated with your company. If you have the names of the former employees who worked with this software, it would be helpful. Likewise, if you were a member of the discontinued Adobe Print Service Provider program, you may have some options for upgrading/updating the software you have.
Unfortunately, you cannot get any more definitive information about your situation on these forums.
    Good luck.
