What software is included on macbook air

Is there any word processing or spreadsheet software included with the MacBook Air?

http://www.apple.com/macbookair/built-in-apps.html
I don't see any word processing except for very basic text editing.  In addition to all the commercial software out there you can find a number of free ones such as Open/Neo Office, and Bean.

  • Till my last software update on my MacBook Air I have been able to use my iPhone as a modem via USB. Now it's not working anymore. Other functions via USB are still fine. Any ideas???

Till my last software update on my MacBook Air I have been able to use my iPhone as a modem via USB. Now it's not working anymore. Other functions via USB are still fine. Any ideas???

The Mac was recently upgraded so it is the Mac, or is it?
Looking for a common denominator:  I'l start with wi-fi as the common communication medium.
    Known:
    A) Broken: iPhone —> wi-fi —> Mac.
    B) Broken: iPhone —>USB—> Mac.
    C) Broken: iPhone —> Bluetooth —> Mac.
    D) Working: Mac —> USB —> other USB devices.
    Unknowns:
    E) Test Mac —> wi-fi —> a non-iPhone router.
    F) Test iPhone —> wi-fi —> another wi-fi device.
Given not A, not B and not C either the Mac or the iPhone could be the culprit.
    1) E        |  F        : Non sequitur (deepens the mystery).
    2) not E  |  F        : The Mac is the common denominator.
    3) E        |  not F  : The iPhone is the common denominator.
    4) not E  |  not F  : All heck broke loose.
For case 1:  It would be something on the Mac that prevents it talking to the iPhone through three media even though it can talk to other routers over wi-fi.  That would be weird indeed, given the iPhone is talking to other wi-fi devices with no trouble.
For case 2:  All of the Mac’s intranet media broken (wi-fi, Bluetooth, and wired-USB) and at least wi-fi works on the iPhone.  Something weird is going on in the Mac.
For case 3:  The iPhone router function is broken.  Upgrade the iOS?  Test using another iPhone?
For case 4:  Throw everything in the trash and start over.

  • How do I install software from disk on Macbook Air?

I have an external CD player but the Macbook Air doesn't seem to recognise it. So how do I get my software from disk onto my Macbook?

I did not get the "This document is not recognised do you want to choose an application to open it with" error message.  It's just that it is not recognizing any content at all on the CD in Finder.  I have used this external CD drive before with this Macbook.  I also tried to open the docs through Word and it again showed that a CD was in "Devices" as a "Remote Disc" but does not recognize any of the docs on the CD.

  • What's happening if my Macbook Air beeps about once every minute?

I just upgraded my Macbook Air to OSX 10.8.1 the other day. Besides that, I diddn't install any new applications. Today, my macbook beeps about once every minute even when I muted it. What is going on?

ok, it turns out that this is just a mistake. the beeping noise doesn't actually come from my laptop... sorry about this. Please disregard the question. I love my mac, and Apple is amazing.

  • Time Machine backup created on Mac with a large hard disk. What happens when restore to MacBook Air with small SSD drive?

What if a Time Machine backup was created on a Mac with a large hard disk, e.g. 500GB iMac - and I buy a new MacBook Air with a small SSD hard disk e.g 128GB. What happens when I need to use the larger Time Machine file to set up the new MacBook Air? What happens to all those files that can't fit on the smaller SSD drive?

It is not the HD size, but rather the size of the data it contains. If you right-click your 500GB drive and select "Get Info" you can see how much is actually being used.
Naturally if you are using more space than the new drive has, then you have to make some choices about what you want to keep and what you want to keep archived.
I don't know what options are available but you may simply have to do a manual restore of files you want, in groups.

  • Mail stopped recognizing my gmail and other, non-iCloud, accounts.  Anyone else have this problem?  No issue with the same software installed on my MacBook Air.

Mid morning, before Christmas, my iMac stopped downloading all mail from gmail and my personal domain. Only the me.com account is still functioning.  Thankfully I am able to access my mail on my MacBook Air but would like to get the problem resolved on my main computer.  Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Susan,
Can you loginto gMail's Webmail in a browser using the same login credentials?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
    Gmail send but not receive...
Here are two steps that have come in handy in related situations
    1) login to gmail on your computer or device via a web browser
    2) once logged in successfully, go to this URL to unlock:
    https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptch
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • About plan details: what software is included in each plan? Any Suites in the Creative Cloud?

i actually dont know what particular software is included for each plan,
may i know where can i find the list or details?
    thanks

let said if i take Complete
does it mean i can dl any of those adobe softwares? (which is the last link from your reply)
    is this what Complete meant?
Yes, everything is included in the Complete plan.
As long as you're a current subscriber paying your monthly fee, you can download and use any and all of that software whenever you wish.
because i thought it should be like before as in web & design suite, or master collection.. and so on
There are no longer any "Suites" with the Cloud. Web & Design, Master Collection etc are for CS6 and earlier. They do not exist with the Cloud (CC versions) subscription.
    Cloud is either:
"Single App" (one software only e.g. Photoshop) OR
    Complete (that's everything) OR
    Photography Plan (Photoshop+Lightroom only)

  • What if i have a macbook air and i want to personalize it, is that possible?

i have  a macbook from 2012, and i want to personalize it

You may want to reply with more description about what you mean by personalize. The first things that came to my mind (none of which I can help with) when I think personalize would relate to how and what software you install and various options in the system and in that software or adding stickers and graphics to the outside or even engraving the outer case. Someone else may be able to give you better input if you give more description of what it is you are thinking of.

  • What keyboard comes with a MacBook Air?

I am buying a MacBook Air (2012 version) of Amazon.co.uk and it does not state on it what keyboard it comes with, I realise since it is .co.UK it will probably come with a British keyboard however I have seen pictures on google images with a £ sign on the keyboard however on the apple store it is just a $, so I was wondering does it just come with a $ sign on the keyboard even if you buy it in the UK?

I'm going to ask the hosts to move this to the macbook forum since you're more likely to get answers there than in the iPad one.

  • What OS would a new Macbook Air come with if I buy one now?

    Hi there,
I am thinking of buying an MBA. Some preliminary research suggests negative reviews about the latest OS Yosemite. Regardless of whether such reviews are accurate or not, I wonder what OS will a new MBA come with, if I buy one now (or over the next few weeks)?
    Thanks.

You can try, but probably not. Note that, since no new model of MacBook Air has come out since the release of Yosemite, even if it ships with Yosemite, it should be capable of running Mavericks. Mavericks is no longer available in the App Store, but you can contact the App Store support http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/ and ask for a download code. If you've previously downloaded it on another Mac, it should be in the purchases section in the App Store.

  • I would like to uninstall a software programme fro my MacBook Air tell me how I can do this?

I would like to uninstall a programme from my MacBook Air. Let me know how to do it

    Depends on the application
    Most always:
Go to the applications folder and drag it to the trash.

  • What do I do if MacBook Air freezes irregularly?

My macbook air is about 2 years old. Twice, when I've logged out, I can't log back in. Once I was running the battery, and as soon as I plugged it in, it worked fine. Just now (again running on battery) it froze in the midst of an email that I was writing. I shut it down and then held the reboot button until it restarted. I am thinking I need to take it to genius bar. I have apple care.

Take it to the Apple store to have it checked out.
You have AppleCare. Why not use it.
    Best.
