What software to edit a pdf?

Hi all, I have an application form that I can fill in with type script but it is a PDF file. Does anyone know of any software available for OSX that would allow me to edit a PDF so that I can type up some text into it before printing?
Thanks for any help

PDFpen is great for doing this. Check it out:

The demo version is fully functional, but puts a cute watermark on your page. The watermark comes out when you register for $50.
You can even use the program to make small edits to the existing text of a PDF.
I actually mainly use the program for other purposes, such as laying out pages of photos of assorted sizes with text from iPhoto:

How are you saving them on your computer?
When you see them on your harddrive, does they show as .PDF or .HTML ?

  • Editing a PDF document

OK, so I have a job application downloaded from its source in
PDF format. I'd like to fill it out and save it in, say, a word
document. I see no guidelines for doing this. Uploading it to
Acrobat changes the format completely. Ditto with cut/paste. I'm on
    a mac, by the way.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Could you confirm if you could click and start typing inside
some de-marked form fields in your PDF opened inside Acrobat or
that the document is a plain PDF with no form fields? I would
request that you open the PDF inside Acrobat instead of Mac's
    preview application (to be sure).
Mostly, I think you would need Acrobat Std/Pro desktop
    software to edit a PDF.
If the application form is a plain document (with no form
fields where one could click and start typing into), then you might
wish to try 'automatic field recognition' in Acrobat
    (Advanced->Accessibility->Run form field recognition). After
form fields are recognized, you could fill those up. I am on
Acrobat 9 (so menu-items may be a bit different if you are using an
    older version).
Generally, PDF is a final form document and you might wish to
export it to .doc/.rtf file format (using File->save as) if you
    wish to do heavy editing.

  • What adobe product will allow me to edit a pdf file in its orignal form.

What adobe product  will allow me to edit a pdf file in its orignal form. I want to scan in a document in its orignal form and edit the document. Is this possible?  Please help where and how. Thanks

As George as suggested, the answer is sort of maybe, though you should not expect perfection. The OCR is not perfect (almost no OCR products are, unless you pay a lot of money possibly). You should always edit the original document and not try to do it from a scan if at all possible. The OCR is step to trying to recreate the original document, but there will always be manual steps involved.

  • What software is used for editing in industry?

I am new, if i to look for video editing job what software should i study? Its only about what used most common now so more chances to find decent job.

Personally I trained on FCP in a post production company and then moved onto Avid when I started working in Broadcast TV. As has been pointed out, it's the editor who makes the edit, not the software. However, personally I reckon it would be easier to first learn on Avid and move onto FCP. I found doing it the other way around was very frustrating. FCP handles effects, graphics and audio better than Avid. It's also more flexible in general as an editing tool. More and more, I see companies changing from Avid to FCP (probably cost-driven of course as well).
Don't get overwhelmed by the amount of softwares to learn. Start off with an editing software and you'll pick up the others as required. Once you're good with one, the others seem a lot less daunting.
    Best of luck.

  • What software do I need to make OCR/searchable PDF's?

I recently bought an Epson scanner so I can digitize a mountain of documents I've accumulated over the years. I played with it a little bit before a failing hared drive forced me to get a new laptop (MacBook Pro), at the same time upgrading to Mavericks. So I'm kinda sorta starting over.
It looks like I can easily create PDF's with my Epson scanner alone. What's confusing me is PDF's with searchable text; I think the technical term is OCR.
Is this something I should be able to do with a scanner alone, or do I need to make Acrobat (or another program) part of the workflow?
I have my scanner plugged into my laptop right now, and I can create PDF's with it. But if I open Acrobat and choose "Create PDF," then choose either "EPSON Scan" or "EPSON Scan Settings," I get an error message: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I've also read about a software program called ABBYY Fine Reader. Is this something I can use instead of Acrobat to make OCR PDF's?
Also, how do I know if a PDF I've created is OCR searchable? Can I simply search for a word or phrase on the PDF with a program like Dreamweaver or Apple's Spotlight?
    Thanks.

OK, now I see it. I just opened a file I recently scanned, chose "In This File," and I was able to search the text.
So if I can't get Acrobat to communicate with my scanner, then I'll just scan all my files as "plain PDF's," later batch converting them to OCR PDF's. In fact, I wonder if that might actually be a little faster than my original plan - teaming up Acrobat and my scanner to create OCR PDF's from the beginning. It's probably a lot easier and faster just working with a scanner.
    Thanks.

Audacity 1.2.5 is an audio editor in which you can assemble and edit your recordings: it's free. I don't think it would burn CDs - you would have to reimport the finished recording into iTunes and burn from there.
Amadeus Lite is $24.99 in the Mac App Store and is in my opinion a better product: it can burn your audio CD directly.
If this is a one-off job you might as well use Audacity: if you are planning on doing this sort of thing at all often you would probably be better off either with Amadeus Lite or Amadeus Pro ($59.99) though this latter may well be over-specified for you as it includes multi-track editing.

Adobe Reader XI Pro does not recognize Samsung Multifunction Xpress M2875FD. I can not edit the PDF documents that I scan it. What do I do?

We need to find out what you actually have here. There is no Adobe Reader Pro. There is Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
With Acrobat Pro, you may be able to do some editing after running OCR. With Adobe Reader, you cannot edit.
    Which one do you have?

  • SQL Server Software ISO, How to find out what is the Edition and Version of the SQL software before starting installation

    Hi All-
Before starting installation, I would like to find out What EDITION and VERSION  is the SQL Server Software ISO.
Please note this is not to find out what version is the installed sql server but before the installation: Is there a note or abrv. that describes what kind of Edition and version is the ISO?
    Detail explanation is appreciated.
    Thanks.

@Balmukund - Thanks for the input - That one is a nice blog!
But assuming you can`t change the Product Key value (you are not provided that number, as you know it gets populated by itself) can you find out
what implies the corresponding edition? If there is a folder where this reference is store, could you provide the full file path where  this folder is located?
The ideal solution would be a way to find out what the Edition
    is befor we start installation.
    Thanks!
Also just to add what I came across:
The SQL Server 2012 installation software comes with pretty much all edition in it, that kind of makes it difficult to easily identify what edition is the specific ISO, but when
one downloads from MSDN one must downloads the
    right edition either Standard,
Enterprise, etc so that when you install it, it installs whatever edition is downloaded.
The best source would be whoever downloaded the software.
Also, before going too far, you can find out what edition it is being installed right before the setup wizard finishes on the
License Terms page (Microsoft Software License Terms Page) and if the edition is not the one you intended to install, you can cancel it there and everything will be rolled back- no hastle.

  • What is the way to edit a font?! and what software is needed?!

    Hi,
What software do I need to edit or create a font?!
I have the whole Adobe arsenal, but can't find information about it on the Adobe forums.
I see a lot of font editors online, but it's hard to recognize what's fake or good stuff.
    Please some good advice.
    Thanks David

Like Larry says, FontLab Studio is good although its interface is dissimilar to (cludgier than) Illustrator's and takes a bit of getting used to.
You can easily paste drawings from Illustrator.
It's necessary to include temporary ascender and descender height marks on all characters so that they align properly with each other.

  • When I make a PDF from an AI file invariably I accidentally edit the PDF, not the AI file

[I'm a long-time user of Illustrator and the creative suite/cloud.]
When I make a PDFx file in illustrator I always "view PDF after saving". Invariably -- even when I rename the PDF -- I inadvertantly start editing the PDF as though it is an illustrator file, which the software permits. Of course, the source AI file isn't updated and I end up saving the revised PDF back to an illustrator file. It's a pain, confusing what little workflow management I have.
Although PDFs and AI's are essentially the same, I always consider the AI file the core source file and use the PDF for client review.
Is there a way to turn off editing of a PDF when I'm inside illustrator?

That seems to work. The PDF that is previewed is an acrobat file and not an illustrator file. I can't edit this [thankfully]. Unfortunately, just more to remember to do
There's no chec box in preferences that shuts off the feature I originally asked about?
