What Software Will Allow Me to Create Fan Charts?

Hi,
I am working on a MacBook using OS X Leopard and wish to create fan-type charts like seen in the links below:
http://www.mirrorwaters.com/pdfs/Directions.pdf
http://www.mirrorwaters.com/pdfs/English_ABC.pdf
http://www.mirrorwaters.com/pdfs/chartofthemonth-Apr09.pdf (three different charts at this link).
Does anyone know of software that could create charts like these?

Is this what tou mean.

  • What software will allow me to burn dvd/cd's from copyright-for backup?

I have a computer with DVD/CD burning/reading capacity. But when I try to make a copy of something I want to back-up-such as an exercise DVD - I can't. Apple support says I have to get software that will allow me to copy a copyrighted disk-and they recommended I come to this site. What can I use that is totally compatible and won't crash my computer? Thanks

LOL. No one will answer... It's kind of illegal...

What product will allow me to place a watermark on a picture of one of my paintings, and then convert it to a PDF for use on my website?

    Photoshop, etc.
What you describe is trivial.  Practically any graphics software can do that.

  • Where is the Url for free Adobe Acrobat X Pro that will allow me to create PDF/X ‑1a requires all fonts to be embedded,

Is there a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro that will allow me to create PDF/x‑1a with all requires all fonts to be embedded. I already have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI.

The Standard joboptions that are used by default don't embed most so-called system fonts.
Change your joboptions to High Quality Print and you will get Arial embedded plus much higher quality imagery.
BTW, PDF/X is great (I'm actually Chair of the PDF/X standards committee), but PDF/X-1a created by using the PDF/X-1a joboptions ruins output by flattening transparency, yielding stitching and other image artifacts that you can see both on screen and print if your document has any transparency (including drop shadows, reflections, and even clipped images). It also forces all content to CMYK. PDF/X-4 is a better choice.
What are you creating the PDF file from? Microsoft Office documents? Adobe layout programs such as InDesign?
Let us know and we can give you a more focused recommendation as to what to do.

  • What Software Will Convert Windows to OSX?

I use a PowerPC G4 Mac; run OS X 10.5.8 Leopard.  I have a CD-ROM for Windows that I would like to convert to OS X.  What software will I need to do that?

Connectix' VirtualPC will run either Windows 98 or Windows XP on a PowerMac G4 and allow you to run your Windows CD-ROM.  It comes with WIndows bundled with it.
As a legacy package, you would have to find it used, most likely on eBay.
I have my original copy of VirtualPC, but I am not willing to sell it, as I have "extracted" the licensed copy of Windows XP and that is the copy of WIndows XP that I use in BootCamp/Parallels 7 to this day.
Windows in emulation will run slowly on the PowerPC G4, but it is the only way you can run your Windows CD-ROM on your Mac.  Once you get the CD-ROM running, the slowdown in speed will be less noticable than operations within Windows itself.

  • What software will convert a NCOR file to other video formats?

Since Encore will only write to a disc, disc image, or Flash, what software will convert a NCOR file to other video formats?

Now that I have more information, here's the issue in summary:
A coworker is working on a training program for facilitators, total 3.5 hours long.
Part of it includes a video, after which the viewer should be able to select one of several vignettes, smaller videos. At the conclusion of those, the viewer should be able to print a certificate.
The coworker created a video in Adobe Premier, and then accompanying menus in Adobe Encore.  If we heard them right, the web developers said that the entire project (videos and menus) must be in MPEG-4, and we discovered that Encore can't do that. Encore could do it in Flash; the developers do not want that.
I think what is going on here is a misunderstanding. It sounds like they want an interactive presentation. The video can be MPEG-4 from Premier. The Menu interactivity is something else, since MPEG-4 is not interactive. Flash is the only way I know of to keep the interactivity. Someone needs to ask the web developers what they are expecting.
What do you guys suggest, besides a plain old HTML menu page with hyperlinked buttons on it?

What application will allow me to play movies with an external disc drive? I recently purchased an external disc drive and when testing it discovered that it only played the audio of the DVD, not the video.  Very frustrated.

Are you referrring to a commercial DVD movie, or a disk with digital movies, such as mpeg files?

The max OS for all Macs with a PowerPC processor is Leopard OS 10.5.x.
If you are going to consider getting a newer, but used, Mac, here's the requirements for Lion.
    Lion 10.7 System Requirements
        •    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor (most models released since late 2006 - early Intel-based Macs with Core Solo or Core Duo processors aren't compatible)
        •    2GB of memory (recommend at least 4GB -- and ideally even more, as you'll see benefits in many computing tasks)
        •    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended) for Lion download from Apple App Store; or Leopard 10.5.x if using Lion on USB drive
        •    7GB of available space (10GB recommended)

  • What software do I need to create this animation?

Please watch the first 60 seconds of this video.  I want to create videos pretty much exactly like this fellow is doing.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYvmjdqpT7Y
What software do I need to create those multi-layered still-image animations?  I assume it's the same software that also does the animated text.
Anyone know what he's using to get those still images to animate under and over each other?

Thank you for the replies.  I read up a bit on the software you all recommended.  The consensus seems to be that Motion is easier and more Mac-integrated than AfterEffects.  So, if I follow your advice, it's between Motion and Photoshop.  Photoshop seems to have a steep learning curve compared to Motion (I'm guessing) and Motion is also cheap at $49.
So all those floating images ... one image zooming in over another that stays stable ... pop up text ... all that can be done in Motion, right?
I ask again because the Apple promo page for Motion doesn't really give me an indication of it doing this, but I also understand this is creative software and it can do a lot of things that can't be individually intemized in a promo page.
If I can get those moving graphics, I'm sold.
    Thanks for the lead.

  • What program would allow me to create a mini box of video on screen?

    Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble figuring out what program would allow me to use an effect that would create a small box of video on screen while the rest of the screen remains blank. It'd be great if there was actually a term for this, but if there is, I don't know it. I once used this effect in a silly beginner program called "studio" that allowed me to create one or more small boxes of video footage, smaller than fullscreen. I don't think this effect exists on imovie, but I have final cut pro, if anyone knows what the effect is called and how I could use it.
Please note: I'm not looking to create those four square boxes of the same image on screen (as can be found in imovie effects), I'm looking to choose the number of boxes I want and what goes in each one (i.e. different footage inside each box).
Sorry if this post is unclear, it's hard to describe when I don't know the name for it, but I hope you can help!

To scale down the video as videodude suggested, load the clip into the Viewer window, click on the Motion tab, and use the Scale control to resize the clip and the Center control to set it's position.
Or set the Canvas window in Image+Wireframe mode and use the mouse to resize and position the clip.

  • What software should I use to create a family budget?

I use my Mac mostly for internet and word processing so I know I'm not touching 90% of the functionality. I want to create a household budget but the template in my ('09?) version of Numbers is not robust enough. Are there any suggestions on how to create a household budget? What software should I use? Thank you!

There are dozens of apps designed to help with household budgets, but few are free. May I suggest you look for apps that have a free trial version, and try them out before spending money on something you may not like:

  • What software should I use to create one long movie out of several short clips?

Hi, I'm not a future film maker.  I'm just trying to find the easiest way to stick a bunch of imported Quicktime movie clips into a single file.  Got to be an easier way than firing up iMovie and figuring that out.
Thanks for your assistance with this n00b question.

I'm just trying to find the easiest way to stick a bunch of imported Quicktime movie clips into a single file.  Got to be an easier way than firing up iMovie and figuring that out.
It normally depends on what software you have available and how you plan to play the file. For 'drag 'n drop' ease I would probably use the free MPEG Streamclip app.
    1) Give the files to be joined alpha-numeric names indication the order in which you want them joined. (E.g., if you have 8 clips to join together, name them clip1, clip2, ..., clip8)
    2) Select and simultaneously 'drag 'n drop' all files to the open MPEG Streamclip wirk window.
    3) Play/scrub the playhead to ensure the clips are present and ordered as desired.
    4) Save the resulting file as required. Note: The "Save As..." option will quickly save the joined files to a new files container but, depending on audio and video compression formats used in the original clips, does not ensure all audio or all video ends up on the same audio and video tracks. If you want to ensure all all audio is flattened to single audio track and all video is flattened to a single video track, then you you may have to export the joined content. (I.e., some player apps like the TV only play one selected/defaulted audio and one video track at a time unlike apps like the QT 7 player which can simultaneously play up 99 audio and/or video tracks simultaneously.)
