What sort of cable do i need?

Hi there, my current setup is mac mini connected to TV using the DVI / s-video adapter on the apple store, however i also switch to a VGA connection on a monitor which is currently beside my tv using the DVI / VGA adapter i got in the mini's box.
I have purchased 2 cables on ebay, both of which didnt do the job, 1 didnt fit, which was DVI to DVI and VGA (the dvi fit into the mac but not into the adapter for the s-video)
The second cable i bought was dvi - 2x DVI splitter, where both cables attached but it didnt work and i was told it was a compatibility issue.
So if anyone can come up with a solution, that would be great thanks!
(To sum up i want to connect a VGA monitor and a S-VIDEO adapter (DVI) both to my mac mini

Assuming that your cable modem has Gigabit Ethernet ports (possible, but it probably does not) Cat 5e or Cct 6 would do the job that you need.
If the cable modem is using a 10/100 Mbps port, then Cat5 will be OK.

Yes it's a mono 3.5mm >> RCA adapter (or a stereo 3.5mm >> 2xRCA cable). You need to use the orange socket labelled 'DIGITAL OUT'.

If it's a post 2010 MacBook Pro it will carry audio through the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. If it's an earlier than Mid 2010 MacBook pro then it can't send audio through the adapter.

I just purchased a JVC Mini DV video camera "GR-D347U" refurbished, just to get the feel of bringing digital video clips into Imovie and combining them with still clips and music. The camera came with just the AV cables and I was wondering what I need to port the video over to my Imac. There wasn't much help on their web site. Nearly all MiniDV cameras have a 4pin Firewire connector. Looking at the manual (link) for the JVC confirms that.
Macs all have the 6pin Firewire connector (and later iMac have 9pin connectors too) so you simply need a 4pin-to-6pin Firewire cable like this (example).
Once connected simply load iMovie and click import.

Hiding the Set Top Box (STB) - What kind of cables do I need?

I want to place my HD DVR STB in a nearby closet. Will probably require 15-20 feet of cable to be safe. I came across several different terms (Emitter, Blaster, RF, etc) but wasn't sure what I need. This is a simple set up - just the cable box so that I can continue to use the Verizon Fios remote. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually that was for a transmitter extender, not a receiver and it must be used per the following from the link:

Tape cassettes - easiest way is tape machine headphone jack to Mac Line in socket with a standard mini phono plug (3.5mm)
Vinyl records - depends on the player. Most ordinary record players will need a pre-amp to use with the line-in socket. Cables required will be dictated by the particular equipment.
You can get USB record decks built for the purpose.
QuickTime will do the job, but I use Audacity for more versatility with editing, noise reduction etc.

According notebook specification your notebook has as video-out port on the left side placed 15 pin VGA port. Using this port notebook can send video signal to external device. Please note it is for video signal only.
It is not the best option to connect your notebook to the TV but there is no other option. Check please if your TV has such port on the back side.
If yes, you need VGA cable for connection.
