What soundchip is in the 975 board?

I've got an MSI Intel 975x board. I know it's HD Audio but I don't know what the chip is, whether it's an ALC861 or an ALC 882 or anything in-between.
Does anyone here know?
Thanks

Hello,
according to the product page, the board has a Realtek® AL882M soundchip.

  • What's the difference between 945 and 975 boards?

Other than the fact that 975 boards support P4 Extreme Edition CPUs, are there any other significant differences between these two type of boards? I mean, will it make my system run faster, say, if i switch my current setup to a 975 board?

pck, I don't think you'll feel anything for switching from 945P to 975X. If you need ECC RAM, if you need to run CrossFire (ATI's SLI) (note: 975X doesn't officially support Nvidia's SLI), if you have DDR2-667 or DDR2-800 and want to run with PAT enabled, then only you go for 975X. Will that hit any performance increase? maybe... less than 2% I think... overall could be just about 0.2~ 0.3% improvement, NOTHING significant.

  • Is there a way of connecting the ipad to the smart board in the classroom, so that the smartboard is the control, and the ipad is displaying what is on the smartboard? This is to help a visually impaired child see what is on the smartboard.,

Is there a way of connecting the ipad to the smart board in the classroom, so that the smartboard is the control, and the ipad is displaying what is on the smartboard? This is to help a visually impaired child see what is on the smartboard.

    Absolutely!
Install Splashtop2 on the PC and enable it to be controlled or ran from iPad or Reflection to simply allow iPad to serve as PC unwired monitor. With Splashtop and an Apple TV connected, you use the smartboard as usual, yet the PC and iPad can see the same content. The impaired child can even interact with the Smart Board via the iPad as if he were writing directly on the big screen. Erasing functions can be done by touching the Smart Board manual controls. Several variables are in play that cause this lack of functionality:
Apple won't permit PC software that infringes its proprietary apps.
Smart Board companies refuse to develop iPad apps because they feel threatened and are being replaced by iPads
School districts think Apple TV is meant for copyright infringement and could expose them to safe harbor lawsuits
Network administrators make it impossible to login Apple TVs because they don't want the streaming occurring
Classrooms are not able to keep up with the technology of using the iPad
Clicker companies refuse to play with iPad because they see it as a potential threat to their core business clients
Apple is not working as hard as it could to exploit its capabilities in education, thus losing money in iPad sales
The bottom line is that we educators and technology developers are hurting our childern with petty conflicts.

  • What is the effective ADC resolution of the Usb6361 board

I have been using a USB-6361 board with 16-bit ADC. I went to simulate a lower bit count ADC implementation and I noticed that the data sampled from the 6361 does not appear to have 16-bit resolution. Here's an example of some of the waveform samples (of type Double), using 0 to 5V range:
    1.0727841521285737 V
    1.09002147857432474 V
    With a 5V range and a 16-bit ADC the LS bits should quantize to 5V/2^16 = 5V/65536
    0.0000762939453125 V
neither of these samples can be accurately represented in 16 bits; there are fractional bits remaining.
    example: 1.09002147857432474/5V * 2^16 = 14287.12952396...
if it was 16-bit quantized and the range was unipolar 5V I would expect an integer result.
Now, it's fairly easy to requantify the data to be 16-bit resolved but what gives with the raw data from the USB-6361 ?
Why is it not 16-bit quantized for the range ?
The data does not appear to be 16-bit quantized for 0-10V or for +/-10V either.
    Any clues here ?

Ben covered that X Series has bipolar ranges but there are other factors that lead to what you are seeing:
X Series applies calibration in software and this affects the HW and the data returned. For one, X Series has 5% overrange, details covered in the AI section of the manual Ben linked. Also, when applying calibration the USB-6361 actually uses a third order polynomial for scaling - so the scaled voltage you read doesn't map directly to code widths. You can do an unscaled DAQmx read and get the direct bits from the ADC. You can get the scaling coefficients with the AI Device Scaling Coefficients Property. Hopefully by looking at these you can get what you need from the device.

  • ISE - What happens when the on-boarded certificate expires?

I'm trying to design a good BYOD deployment model but have a few questions that need direct answers.  I have down how to go about on-boarding and getting a certificate on a device, the ISE provides great flow for this to happen in many ways.  My questions come from a design perspective before and after the BYOD deployment is completed.
    1. Figuring out a method to validate the device is a Corporate asset or a BYOD asset.
(I don't want to install a certificate on just any device, or perhaps I do but I need to give permissions to all resources if its a Corporate Device, and more resitrictions if it's BYOD, so how do I figure this out during the provisioning phase?)
         a. Use MDM (May not have one, or if you do we are still waiting on ISE 1.2 for that integration)
         b. Build a Group for provisioning admins, if user PEAP-MSCHAPv2 account is from this group install a certificate. (issue here is that the end user looses administration of the device in the my device portal as the device is now registered to the provisioning admin)
         c. Pre-populate MAC into ISE as all Corporate devices should be provisioned by I.T. before they go to the end user (I think this is good but can see push back from customers as they don't want to add more time to the process)
         d. Certs on any IOS or Android device, provide access based on user group and do not worry if device is Company asset or not (I believe that this is the easiest solution and seems to be what I find in the guides)
         e. Other options I have not thought about, would love input from the crowd
    2. What happens to the device once the Certificate expires?
(I don't know the answer to this, my thought would be the user or device will fail during the authentication policy and this creates a mess)
         a. Tell the user to delete the profile so they can start all over again (creates help desk calls and frustrated users)
         b. Use MDM for Cert management (may not have one)
         c. Perhaps the client uses SCEP to renew based on the cert template renew policy and there are no issues (this is me wishing)
Would appreciate some feed back and would like to know if anyone has run into these issues.

    Neno,
Sorry but I don't have any other info on using a public CA, Cisco says to use internal CA's for PKI.  I think the best practice in 1.2 comes out will be to use one interface for Web Management and a different interface for Radius, profiling, posture, and on boarding.  This way you can use your private CA for EAP and a public CA for web traffic.  Have you tried a public CA bound to management and a private CA for EAP yet?
I did do a session on EAP-TEAP, they explained how it will work and also discussed EAP-FASTv2.  EAP-FASTv2 is available now but you must use anyconnect as your supplicant.  Microsoft and all other vendors will have EAP-TEAP native once it is fully released and comissioned as it will be the new gold standard for EAP.  It will support TLS, MD5, and CHAPv2.  If you are interested I have the PDF of the presentation I attended that shows the flow of how EAP-TEAP will work.  This is much better than wasMachineAuthenticated and machine auth caching, which has many down falls.
I currently do machine and user auth I just don't require them.  If Machine auth then allow machine on vlan-x with access to AD, DNS, and blah blah.  Then a seperate rule to say user auth gets more access, although I require EAP-TLS for both and if you think about it you are accomplishing the same thing if your PKI is setup correctly.  Make it so users and machines can only auto enroll, that way you know the only way they got their cert was from GPO policy.  I won't go into anymore detail, but there is lots you can do.

  • What is the little golden coloured metal tab that sticks out the side of the logic board?

    Hi,
On the logic board of a 3g and 3gs (i am not sure about the other models) there is a golden coloured tab that sticks out and when the board is in the housing it makes contact with the chrome bezel.
I was wondering what the job of this little part is and what the implications would be if it did not do its job properly.
    Thanks

Just be sure no extra parts are left over when you re-assemble it..... as KT said this question goes way, way beyond any guidance than can  be offered at this location.

  • Does anyone know what the second button is for on the logic board of an iMac G5 (PPC), 1st generation ?

One button on the logic board of a 1st generation iMac G5 (PPC) is an alternate power button. Does anyone know what the purpose of the other button is?

I am far from certain but I believe it is the power management unit (PMU) reset switch a/k/a Cuda switch: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1939
Do not press it when the computer is on.

Apple supports most of their computer products for a 7 year period, could be that your IBook is well past any kind of help.Secondly parts are no longer being made for this machine and never will be again. Finally I find it hard to believe that nothing has been done with this for 6 years.Have you documented the reasons why you were turned down for repairs ? were the replaced Ibooks within a couple of months of warranty expiration? What model is your IBook ? At least if we knew what the model #, some of the more techy types could find out if there were any repair programs for your model.
Seems odd that you'd hang on to a non-working IBook for that long.

  • What does the Logic Board do exactly?

My MacBook took a little fall yesterday. I went to the Apple store and they told me that the logic board needs to be replaced, and I was curious as to what it does. I have no doubts that the genius at the store was correct, I'm just wondering what it does for future reference.

  • I have a Mac book pro, 15" that I bought 4 years a go, the logic board has died, what recoarse do I have with Apple regarding a product that should last years

I have a 15" Macbook that I bought in late 2007, which is just 4 years old Since then the battery wont hold a descent charge, the screen had to be changed and now the logic board has died. plus there is an issue with the video card for that same model. I would expect a product that carries the Apple brand to last longer. They are not cheap to buy and its some thing that I cant afford to replace every few years. Does any body think that Apple has an obligation to do the right thing or am I expecting too much.

Four years is a pretty typical lifespan for a battery (and for a computer in general).

    You are expecting too much.

  • My 2011 MacBook Pro does not start and stop after the apple appear, they said that the problem is a video problem and need to change the logic board. Cost almost same to buy a new one. Somebody have the same problem?

I have a MacBook Pro early 2011. Does not start. After the apple show, a blank screen appear. The service said that the problem is with the video plaquue in the logic board. Need to change. Cost lmmost the same than a new MacBook Pro. Somebody has the same problem? What we can do?

I hate to break this to you, but life isn't fair. If your job is that critically in need of a computer, then you should have a spare to use for just this kind of situation or have your employer provide you with a computer to use.
Computers break down, just like cars. If your car breaks down do you curse the car maker or get it fixed? Surely, you paid more for your car than the computer.
This is reality. Best get used to it because it won't get any better.

  • After replacing the logic board in my Macbook Pro it will no longer connect to the App Store.

I recently had to replace the logic board in my early 11 Macbook Pro (first gen i7).  With the release of Yosemite just a few weeks away I am trying to update from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks.  I'm afraid if I don't after this update it will become much harder.  I always lived by the rule if it ain't broke and for a long time Snow Leopard worked very well for what I needed to do.  All my software is current and there are no updates pending.  All my Keychain Access System Roots Certificates are good and I have no problems getting into iTunes.  I thought it might be something on Apples end but after 36 hours it's still the same problem.  When I try to open the App Store I get this:
Any ideas.  I don't use the App Store that much but until this I had never had this problem before.
    Thanks for the help.

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

  • How do I change the underlying query for the task board (and backlog board) on TFS Preview

    All,
We work with multi-area projects, each area representing a significant component within the project with its own release/iteration cycle. i.e. Several areas may be active at once, each with different iterations.
When we look at the task board these take no account of the area being worked on. What I need to do is to be able to change the query behind these boards to point to a particular release/iteration for a particular area.
Unfortunately there is no drop down selection on these pages to see this automatically so I need to be able to change the underlying query that populates these boards to get the the area and release/iteration that I need.... but I can't find where these
    are.
Using multiple areas is actually highly frustrating with TFS Preview as it doesn't seem geared up at all to make it easy to switch between them... are we doing something wrong?
I think I can do this by changing the current iteration - but I can't work out how to do this either once an iteration for a particular area has started.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks

It is not possible to modify the query behind the task board. If I understand you correctly, you would like to filter the task board by area path.
In TFS 2012 we have repurposed the area path field to be the field that determines the team you are working on. We are continuously improving our product and being able to filter your task is one of the improvements that we are thinking of.
Sorry I can't help you better than this for the moment.
Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help.
    Hi Ewald,
We have a similar problem, see the thread "Best approach for multi-team/multi-projects." on this forum. I'm hopping you can help, since so far the different answers doesn't help.

  • I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) and now my microphone is not working

I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) 3 days ago, I had a terrible experience as the genious who gave me my solid state disk for safekeeping lost my disk's brackets thus I had to wait 2 more hours until they find one after 10 days of waiting for the repair. I noticed some weird sounds, like somehting is moving with the mac 1-2 times, even if I have no mechanical parts other than the fans, but my real issue at the moment is that my microphone is not working. I can see the mic in the System Info however and in Audio Midi Setup. In the Audio Midi Setup I see that the master chanel is turned off and I can't turn in on. Ch 1 and 2 are on full. I also noticed the first seconds after the comp. boots the blue bar goes to the middle in the System Preferences -> Sound -> Input. Any ideas what to do or try? I do not want to go back to the apple store as it is 50 minutes away from here and I need my laptop as a computer science student. Everything else is working perfectly.

You need to call both the store that did the repair and Apple directly, warranty service or Apple care, and report this problem with both of them and get a ticket number of some kind (some kind of verification number) that the unit just came back from major service with this problem and that you want it fixed when you can lose the use of it, which is not right now.
Without doing something like that they could easily say it is damage not covered under the normal warranty.
God knows what the repair center did and did not do to it while it was there.
And depending on when you actually bought it the warranty could run out in the mean time.
