What system config are you running for xMII 12.1.x?

If you are running xMII 12.1.x, can you please briefly explain your setup?  I presume you are running Windows 64-bit, but what kind of processor, how much memory, and how many users?  Is the performance/response time good?

Todd,
The documents here on v12.1 performance may be useful as they go into performance numbers, performance monitor log analysis, and NetWeaver CE system settings.

  • Error: X "does not have permission to write to the application's directory! Are you running off a disk image? If not, ask your system administrator for help."

I have received to following error from at least three different applications when they have attempted to auto-update recently: X "does not have permission to write to the application's directory! Are you running off a disk image? If not, ask your system administrator for help."
I am not running off a disk image and I have admin privileges... Not sure what the problem is, but it just started happening (a week or two ago) and I have never previously had a problem with these applications auto-updating.  I have repaired permissions and attempted other "fixes" found on the interweb, but nothing works.  Also, this is only happening on my iMac (27" Intel i5) and not my MacBook Pro (17" Intel i5) -- both are running Lion.  Please help!

If you updated using the default install (merge) from before Tiger, you may be seeing an issue that we saw when Leopard first came out last year.
Not sure of the fix - it was not simple - but if you search back in these forums you might find something that will help. I believe it deals with the numbers assigned to accounts (501, etc).
If you open your Accounts Preferences and unlock the padlock, right-click Advanced Options and read your User ID and Group ID. Let us know what they are.
Now, in the other user admin account, do the same thing.
One of the real experts who knows much more about this than I may be able to then help.
And be sure to check out this article

  • Still on PS3? What are you waiting for?

Are you still playing PlayStation 3? Why haven't you moved to the new generation with PlayStation 4? What are you waiting for? A specific game? The right price? Morpheus?

i'm broke at the moment, but in all fairness, I've got plenty of stuff to keep me busy as it is on my PS3 (as well as my WiiU, Amiga, Spectrum, 3DS, PC and Atarti2600) so I have no real need to upgrade. Furthermore, I'm not sure where to go next gen yet. It's tooe arly days to make a sensible decisison. Morpheus is callling to me, but currently I am much more impressed with the XboxOne with all its functionality, external HDD support and codecs, than the rather barren and user-unfriendly (for me anyway) PS4. I am also very angry and unforgiving with Sony for all the content removal on both my PS3 and SmartTV (which has lost Facebook, Midnight Pulp, Sony Entertainment TV, Crackle, Viewster and a whole host of other apps they decided they didn't want to run anymore.) As well as loads of things on the TV that just dont work properly that they cant be bothered to fix, incluing something that casues Youtube to crash all the time. The loss of PSHome was the final straw for me with Sony. Contrary to what a lot of people like to think it was very busy, and for me it was quite important, due to health issues I am fairly housebound, and it was a very good way for me to socialize.I just don't trust Sony anymore to make something that won't be downgraded in the near future. If Morpheus is great then I might be tempted to PS4 in time, but with rumors starting to emerge that the XboXone might support the Oculus, Sony have even lost the VR edge. Just wait and see for now.

  • I´ve bought the new IPad3, what a disappointment the 3G does not work, no Internet available, APPLE what are you doing for the all the people in Germany who bought the new IPad3? I´m still an Apple fan, all my products are from Apple but I need a solution

I have been waiting since months for the new IPad4G 64 Gbt. ON recommendation of Apple Support I have changed my IPad 4G last week in the hope that something was wrong with the firts one I bought.
The one I have now has the same problems. WiFi is working however 4G not at all. Apple what can I do? What are you doing for the thausands of German Apple fans who have bought a IPad4G and can not use it. We need a solution NOW. I´m working with this tool and need to be able to rely on it.
    Thanks for a feed back.

It would be advisable for Apple to react officially on it. € 799, - for something that doesn´t function is no fun :-((
Isn't replacing your iPad Apple "officially" acting on it?

  • Are you running 4 GB?!

With the recent AMD price dump I am planning to give my old Diamond some more umph with a x2 4600+ and some more memory.
After reading several posts in here I am a hesitant to go for 4 GB. I have XP-64 so I should be able to see all the memory. But according to the posts it is a bit fifty-fifty if there will be an performance penalty with all 4 banks filled; DDR400->DDR333, 1T->2T etc
Some posts states that the modules have to be single sided; but I have found nothing else on the net that backs that statement.
And besides looking at the different manufactorers pages I can't find this information!!
    Been looking at:
    Corsair TWINX2048-3500LLPRO
    Corsair TWINX2048-4000PT
    So I need advice...
Are you running 4 GB? at what speeds? which memory?
    Thanks

    Jan,
Let me say again, and this is a proven fact:
Adding more RAM when you comp is not using the RAM you currently has, does 0 for performance and in some cases slow the comp down.
    Take Care,
    Richard
    Very true...
I seem to remember reading somewhere that BF2's "sweet spot" was at 2GB anyway. Any more, as Richard & others said, seriously impacts performance due to the memory controller limitation when all slots are occupied - that's an AMD thing, not mobo related.
Allegedly it IS possible to run 4GB at rated speed but you need single sided RAM to do it - but when's the last time you saw a single sided 1GB RAM stick?
You can always see if you need that extra RAM for anything else by observing the page file usage under the "Performance" tab in Task Manager while you're doing whatever. If it exceeds the amount of installed RAM, then the extra expense my be worth it in your case.

  • What O/S do you use for Development?

There appears to be many issues with Windows XP as a development platform, not only for Netweaver, but for any application which requires a large amount of contiguous memory.  I'm not prepared to recommend to our group that we use XP for development, due to the re-basing requirements of the various DLL's that fracture the memory address space, thereby preventing large-scale allocations of memory to the J2E engine.  There are others reasons for not re-basing DLL's, namely the departure from company-installed code, issues with O/S updates, support issues, etc.
Linux, however, does not have these issues, as it properly handles memory.
Out of curiosity, what environments are people using for development?  What O/S?  Are you hosting a local J2EE?
Granted, if you're not hosting a local J2EE then these memory issues do not assert themselves, but I want the ability to run Netweaver locally without having performace suck. (ie: 1GB of memory or more allocated to the engine).
    Comments?

    Hi Ken,
    > How much memory are you allocating to the JVM?
To be as precise as possible:
    -Xms512M
    -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1
    -XX:+DisableExplicitGC
    -XX:MaxPermSize=192M
    -XX:PermSize=192M
    -XX:MaxNewSize=96M
    -XX:NewSize=96M
    -XX:SurvivorRatio=2
    -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90
    -Dmemory.manager=512M
    -Xmx512M
Hope it helps. Think of it, it's for 6.20! 6.40 definitely consumes more memory.
The values from this morning, when I had started the server, didn't really change: Now it's 339MB, virtually 759MB.
    > How does the EP perform

    Quite good
    > And, why are you running the EP locally?
    > Is this just for testing your components in the EP?
Primarily for developing EP applications (what's my main profession).
    > EP is really not required for development
... if you're not developing against the EP ...
    > that you only require a license for the J2E engine
Almost. You'll have a central licence, but a portal specific one.
    > what's a developer to do when the 120 days is up?

Good question, ask SAP   As said, when I'll switch locally to EP6 NW04 (instead of SP2), I'll do my best to do so without switching the underlying OS...
    Hope it helps

  • Why are you asking for my Visa card information when I have a balance on my iTunes gift card?

Why are you asking for my Visa card information when I have a balance on my iTunes gift card?

Either because you're trying to buy some sort of gift, or the iTunes Store servers are checking the validity of your account and won't charge the card, or there's a problem at Apple's end.

Is Mac's firewall sufficient or is will an additional firewall help?  What security suite do you recomend for MacBook Air with Maverick?

Third party security software is better at causing problems then it is at solving them.
    I recommend against them.
If you felt it is necessary then configure the firwall software included with OS X.

  • What to do when you pay for an application and it ...

What to do when you pay for an application and it fails to install? I paid for an application, but it fails to install. I have no idea how to contact Nokia (the ovi store is quite bad in this). Also, does anyone have technical suggestions of were to look at to troubleshoot?

You can contact Nokia using the "Contact us" tab to the top right of this screen. I am sure they will be able to assist you or at least point you in the right direction.

  • What internet security do you recommend for apple products

What Internet security do you recommend for apple products

None.  The best security is to backup your data frequently, and using WPA2 encryption on wireless routers.    Otherwise basic good practices include:
    1. Do not download sites that suggest installing cleanup software.
    2. Do not do things that might slow your Mac down:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6921
    3. Do not install updates except directly from reputable vendors websites, and the Apple Mac Store.
    4. Do not follow instructions of popup windows or banner ads.
    5. Do not use peer2peer or torrent software.
    6. Do not open .scpt, .sct, .app attachments.
    7. If you use Windows on your Mac, the same security rules for Windows on a non-Apple machine apply as an Apple machine.

Are you charged for the use of face time?

Currently FaceTime only works over Wi-Fi, so no, you don't get charged for using it. You just have to pay your monthly internet bill to pay for the Wi-Fi.
