Suddenly my itunes quit working. I went into control panel and uninstalled it. In my attempt to uninstall quicktime I was unable to do so. Got a "Fatal Error" during installation message. I downloaded a new version of itunes and that wouldn't install because of a problem with quicktime. I get the message iTunes didn't successfully install because of a problem installing quicktime. itunes needs quicktime to operate.
I get to a point where it says "Removing Quicktime types" then it does a rollback.
Any suggestions on this? I shouldn't have to spend 2 hours to re-install itunes or get rid of quicktime to start over again.

I really don't know if this will do anything or not, but maybe worth a try?
Save and close everything you have open (because you'll be forced to reboot)
Click start, and type "msconfig" in the search/run box and hit enter. On the window that pops up, choose the "startup" tab. Deselect everything that pertains to Quicktime and iTunes. Also click the "services" tab, and scroll through the list (which can get long), looking for anything related to quicktime or iTunes. If you find something, uncheck it.
Click apply, and follow through with the required restart.
NOTE: Upon starting back up, you might get a little window that says you're using selective startup which just means you've manually disabled or enabled some startup items. Just tell it not to warn you again, and click ok. (don't worry, if you ever make a different change, the warning will reappear, but only if you change something else).
Now try your full uninstalls. I suggest rebooting, if you succeed in removal. Then finally, download and reinstall itunes. Sounds like a lot of work, but it's really not. As I said, I have no idea if it will help, but it did solve some issue like that for me on other programs. Let me know the results!

Apparently I have MULTIPLE Apple ID's, many linked to very old computers/emails that I no longer use and I have no clue what they are nor what the passwords could possibly be. I just want to be able to listen to music THAT I OWN!

I am trying to play music on my iTunes that I had burned from either CD's that I had bought & own (in order to preserve the CD from damage and it is all only for my personal use) or purchased through iTunes. Much, but not all of this was done on an old computer, and on old e-mails that no longer exist, and for that matter I have no clue what the passwords could possibly be! The computer that I use now is at least 10 years old, so how am I supposed to remember passwords from that long ago? I am constantly being told to reset my password, but that apparently just seems to compound the issue. One account will not even accept my birthday and my security question which I know with 100% certainty are correct. I JUST WANT ACCESS TO MUSIC I OWN OR HAVE PURCHASED over the past 20+ years, and I don't care what computer I did it on or what e-mail address I used, and forget about trying to recall my password! Apple makes it so difficult to do passwords it's ridiculous! I would need a book to write down every password that I have tried, and apparently not succeeded in using! add to my frustration is that my son put literally TONS of his music onto my computer and used his various Apple ID's and passwords, and it's just a bumble cluck of a mess. AGAIN, I only want access to MY MUSIC!

You're supposed to remember them or make note of them because they are key to a resource in which you have invested financially, just like keeping records for bank accounts you have or keys to your car. It is just that people haven't woken up to the importance of having a digital legacy too.

Can you please take a look at my TM Buddy log and opine on what the problem is? I'm stuck in the "Preparing Backup" phase for what must be hours now. My last successful backup was this morning at 7:16 am. I did do a series of Software Update this morning, one of which, a security update I believe, required a restart.
I'm confused as to what the issue is, and how to get everything back to "it just works".

Time Machine can't read some data it needs from your backups (each of those date-stamps is one of your backups).
That's usually a problem with the drive itself, but could be the directory on it. First be sure all plugs are snug and secure, then see if you can repair it, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If that doesn't help, post back with the results. Also either tell us what kind of Mac you have, what version of OSX you're running, or post that to your Profile, so it's accessible.

How do you determine what the default filename is when you do a SaveAs?

I have a shcedule that I saved and now I want to save it as a .pdf file, so I go into File, SaveAs and select .pdf in the drop down and the default filename is "document" not what the name of my schedule was. Where is that set? How
do I make it default to the name of the MS Project Filename?

Which version, SP and CU do you have? Trying with Project 2010 SP1, the original file name is kept whatever extension selected in the "save as" dialog box.

And for performance always the second option is better, use Data instead of tables, declare your own local structure.

In arrayCollection = null; statement you're setting this
reference to null and potentially making it available for garbage
collection. I say 'this reference' and potentially because, as you
may know, there might be other references to this array collection
object that won't be affected by this statement and hence it won't
be GC'ed.
arrayCollection.removeAll() says that I want to empty this
array collection for all the reference that we pointing to it. That
is, remove all the objects from the collection -- and of course
make them 'potentially' available for the GC -- the size of the
array collection would be reduced down to zero and all the
references would be pointing to a valid but empty collection.

I'm guessing it's a compatibility problem similar to that that T-Mobile in the US has. I'm not familiar with chat-r wireless, but I'm guessing it's not a supported carrier for the iPhone. If they can't tell you how to fix it, I'm guessing it's just plain not going to work.

The apps were purchased by another user with a different Apple ID. You will have to erase them and repurchase them using your Apple ID.

Hey, so I have a Mac Mini which I bought nearly 3 years ago. I've been running the latest system 10.6.6, when the issues started. Everything would just unexpectedly quit and occasionally, I'd get the "You need to re-start your computer..." grey screen, also the desktop would refresh itself and not open any folders or anything at all. Finder, Console, Dashboard Client, etc all quit,´and sometimes the nmblookup thing would pop up, but before I could click Allow or Deny, it'd dissappear again.
I ran the Hardware Test, and four times out of seven it said "No Trouble Found" while three times out of seven it gave me an error code starting with 4MEM. The system profiler, meanwhile, told me that both RAM cards were OK. I did the Hard Drive verification through Utilities and it gave me some problem starting with "Key..." and said it could not be repaired.
SO, I reformatted the HD as it suggested, deleting everything (I've got it backed up though). Then, I installed Snow Leopard again, and the issues were still present. It would Quit Unexpectedly freeze up, etc. So then I went and erased the hard-drive again, and a new partition was made automatically. After that, I tried installing the original software which came with the computer. Except that after Installation Disk 1 was finished, the computer restarted and then it was just a blue screen. Nothing. It didn't ask for the second disk or aything. I tried again, and in the middle of Disk 2 Installation the grey "You need to re-start..." screen came down. ***. Now, I can't seem to install ANY Mac OS X on my computer, not what it came with, not the Snow Leopard, nothing.
Again, Hardware Tests tells me everything is ok, and the Hard Drive also says there's nothing to repair. Then what is this? I don't even know what it could be anymore! Please help if you have an idea of what this might be! Unfortunally, at the moment I have no money to send it to the repair so they'd check=/

Oh ok, well that was what the test said prior to reformatting the hard drive. Now, it doesn't find any trouble no matter how many times I run it. That's what has me so confused, everything seems to check out and yet...I can't do anything, not even install the software!

Had the same problem. Here's how I sorted it out, not including yelling at my PC or ranting in my own thread (that's optional): First you want to delete your saved payment option. If you try this and it does not delete, log out and back in. It should be gone. Now re-enter your payment option (credit card number or whatever you are using) and if it asks if you want to save the data for future use, make sure you give it a nickname that doesn't include any special characters. Hope this works for you!
