What the hecks wrong with my click wheel

O.K. so every time i turn my ipod off i can hear the click wheel. For example I just randomly spin my click wheel (whene the ipods off) and i hear the clicking noise.
Whats wrong with it

The iPod is still in the process of going to sleep. You can put it on hold. The clicking noise should stop after about a minute or two after it has been turned off.

  • What the **** is wrong with my iMac?

I'm gong to keep this nice and short... I have a memory card reader plugged into a Belkin USB hub which is obviously plugged into my iMac. When ever I put a card into the card reader it will work the first time, but on the next few tries it won't mount on the desktop or show up in Disk Utility. If I keep trying eventually I'll put the card in and the ENTIRE system will lock up (iTunes stops playing, iChat freezes, Finder freezes, EVERYTHING) the mouse still moves but I can't click anything. It's done this twice in the last half hour and 3 times throughout the week. So as the topic says "What the **** is wrong with my iMac?"

maybe its not the iMac but the flash memory instead. It could be the drive is corrupt and the computer is having a tough time reading it. Try erasing and then reformatting it to see if that changes anything

Oke, here we are. First of all my VISA credit card is rejected, i mean paymant method is not accepted? WHY? I don`t know, cuz this creditcard is valid until 8.2017. It wasn't used before on other Apple ID, I'm from Roumania but the creditcard was made in Italy, so I choose both Countries when it asked me for Store, nothing, rejected again. And 2nd thing? What **** postcode should I use cuz every postcode from every **** town/location from this country is not valid?!?!?!?!!? What the **** is wrong with this OS???? Is like i`m gonna hire to NASA!!!!! Sorry for my bad english but i spent 2 **** days to make a **** apple ID to get a **** free application and i can't find in good postcode and seems i need to make 124723908572 credit cards in 9837458937453 countries!

You have to use a valid credit card from the country you reside in.
You can only use a store of the country you reside in.

Just in case you would like to have a final try
    Hello,
If a sad iPod icon or an exclamation point and folder icon appears on your iPod’s screen, or with sounds of clicking or HD whirring, it is usually the sign of a hard drive problem and you have the power to do something about it now. Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
If you're having trouble, try these steps at different levels one at a time until the issue is resolved. These steps will often whip your iPod back into shape.
Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
    A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
For old and other versions of iPod updater for window you can get here
    http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=7369
    F. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    G. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If none of these steps address the issue, you may need to go to Intermediate level listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the lists to see if that is what keeping iPod from appearing on your computer in order for doing the Restore.
    Intermediate Level
    A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
    B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool”.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=501330&tstart=0
    C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

    Advance Level
    A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
    B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk
    http://www.ipodresq.com/index.php
Just in case that you are at the following situation
    Your iPod warranty is expired
You don’t want to pay any service charges
You are prepared to buy a new one
You can’t accept the re-sell value of your broken iPod
Rather than leave your iPod as paper-weight or throw it away.
You can try the following, but again, only do it as your last resort and at your own risk.
Warning !!!! – It may or may not manage to solve your problem, and with a risk that you may further damage your iPod, which end up as an expensive paper weight or you need to pay more higher repairing cost. Therefore, please re-consider again whether you want to try the next level
    Last Resort Level
    1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery and HDD replacement (with Quicktimes)
    http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/index.cfm?page=Video/directory.html
2.Press the reset button on the Hard Drive inside the iPod – Suggestion from Kill8joy
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2438774#2438774
Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

I am not suggesting that you should follow as well, but just read them as your reference. You are the person to make the call.
Finally, I read a fair comments from dwb, regarding of slapping the back of the iPod multiple times
Quote “This has been discussed numerous times as a 'fix'. It does work, at least for a while. In fact I remember using the same basic trick to revive Seagate and Quantam drives back in the mid to late 1980's. Why these tiny hard drives go bad I don't know - could be the actuator gets stuck in place or misaligned. Could be the platter gets stuck or the motor gets stuck. 'Stiction' was a problem for drives back in the 80's. Unfortunately the fix can cause damage to the platter so we temporarily fix one problem by creating another. But I know of two instances where a little slap onto the table revived the iPods and they are still worked a year or more later.”UnQuote

  • What the *+ৠis wrong with my Epson Stylus SX100?

It was working fine in Snow Leopard up until a couple of hours ago.
When I tried to use it a few minutes ago it suddenly won't print any more.
It makes like it's about to print - the driver starts up etc, but then shuts down again without printing.
What's gone wrong ? Don't tell me to delete the printer in System Prefs and then select it again. I did that already. Don't tell me to reinstall the driver. I did that too. Don't tell me to reboot, run scripts, etc. Did all that.
FWIW here's what the Console says:

    (later)
I had a brief online chat with the guy at Epson and then he sent me an email, which said....
*START OF WHAT THE EPSON GUY SAID*
In response to your query if you are having communication problems, firstly I suggest to check the cable connections and ensure the printer is connected directly. Also please ensure that the data cable is no longer than 1.8m. Next try deleting the printer from the Print Centre. Reinstall the printer driver from the CD that came with the printer. Restart the Mac.
Then you will need to add the printer to the printer list, selecting Epson USB as the printerport. Click Page Setup, choose All. Please try printing again.
If the issue is not resolved I advise you to try the printer on a different computer to see where the fault lies.
*END OF WHAT THE EPSON GUY SAID*
I did all of the above (allowing for the fact that the Epson guy was using "Windoze" language.
    It still won't print.
The annoying thing is that it was printing fine a few hours ago.
So maybe you're right, Peter - maybe I just need to leave it off for a while and see what happens!!! I can't think of any other options.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
It appears to be something in the coding in Snow Leopard. Every time I hit the "Print" button I get a console message that says
    sandboxd[1700]: rastertoescp(1696) deny file-write* /private/var/spool/cups/Library
Can any of you Unix gurus interpret this piece of code and tell me what's wrong please?

  • What the heck is with downloading podcasts in iTunes on the iPad2?

My issues specifcally surround my downloading of CNBC Fast Money and Mad Money every night.  Here are my gripes:
Most times when I try to download these podcasts they are listed in my podcast libary but with a length of 02 mins.  It seems something went wrong but I can't figure out what.  I've been downloading these podcasts on my iPhone for a while and never ran into this problem.  Is there anywhere I can look for troubleshooting hints?  This is extremely frustrating when you expect to have downloaded a podcast only to have it error out time and time again. See 1st and 2nd images.
What is with the naming convention with these podcasts?  My podcast library lists fastmoney.xml or madmoney.xml.  Again when I do this on my iPhone the real titles come display along with dates of the podcast that I can actually discern.   See 1st and 2nd images.
When I click the "done" button from within a podcast it takes me to a icon view of my podcasts instead of to my podcast library.  In order to get to the library you have to go back out and click on the iPod icon on the home screen. See the 3rd image. This is annoying.
    iPad 2 screenshot
Ok that's my rant.  I any suggestions, explanations or advice would be appreciated.

  • What the **** is wrong with iMovie?

I work for hours on a project, and when I export it to iDisk, Mobile Me, or iTunes, there are random bits of Audio thrown in all over the projects. What the ****?

Do you have audio besides the source audio from the clips. E.g. background music from iTunes, iM sound effects, etc.?
Can you detect the random audio - is it clip audio, other audio such as described earlier?
    What version of iMovie 09?
How are you exporting to these destinations?
Did you use any slow motion or speed up advanced edits in your Project?
Folk here are happy to help but we need a little bit to work with.

  • What the **** is wrong with my phone?

Okay, let me start off by saying that I am BEYOND angry. I'm ready to throw my phone in the trash. Also, let me say that this has happened TWICE since iOS 8 has come out.
So, I downloaded iOS 8. First, it took 8 hours to download, and then, another 6 to install. And it couldn't even do that without messing up. It wiped my phone and put it into recovery mode. And when I tried to connect to to itunes to update and restore it, it couldn't do that either. iTunes repeatedly messed up and kept starting over. I tried updating/restoring my phone 17 times before it actually worked, and it took an entire day and a half before I could actually use my phone again.
And now, with the release of iOs 8.0.2, it has happened again. And let me just go on record and say that I did not even start this download. I was scared this would happen to me again, so I was refraining from installing another messed up update. But of course, Apple shoved their update down my throat and installed itself while I was at work, leaving my phone, once again, in recovery mode. Now this wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that I need my phone. Last time, this happened over the weekend, so it wasn't really an issue, but it's the middle of the week and I have things to do. Also, the update and recovery isn't working. It gets halfway (if that) through the update and then disconnects my phone and calls it quits. What the **** am I supposed to do? I've tried doing the update/restore at least 15 times since I got off work, and at this point, I' ready to give up.

You opened itunes on your computer?
    You connected the iphone?
You looked at the bottom of the screen at the usage bar?
    I only shows apps?

  • TS1398 what the **** is wrong with i pad wifi?????????

Why won't i pad connect to wifi????

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

This new Photo app is not working very well, i can't just simply press "delete" button to delete a photo anymore, really?  And I wish I had not deleted my iPhone app...  ****!

Appreciate it!  I am more of a PS6 and Lightroom person, I only use iPhone to manage small Albums when I am on a time crunch...  now it seems a little more difficult to do with Photo app.  I guess I will have to get used to that.  I don't do edits in iPhoto, just albums, create and delete after upload them to my website.  Wish Apple would have a "trash" folder on the sidebar like they did with iPhoto, so we can just drag and drop to "Trash" on what we need to delete.
or even keep it iPhone looking but add all new features and keep the old ones as well lol

  • WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH THIS UPDATE TO 8.1

At first i thought my problems were limited to CDs not importing.....NOW MY IPOD WILL NOT SYNC WITH IT. What's the point of and itunes upgrade if my BRAND NEW IPOD won't sync with it??????

You might get better answers if you gave more specifics. What error messages are you getting? What exactly is happening?

  • What the **** is wrong with my MBP?!

I just bought a MBP in the last week of October. I gave my 2009 macbook to my mom and decided to get a pro because I wanted to run Sketchup better. Here are the issues I have encountered in this month:
    1. Programs will not connect to the internet even though full wireless bars are shown.
         - I had a really weird experience where Safari would only load facebook, all other websites said I had no internet.
    2. Macbook will time out connecting to the wireless internet, I will then have to run network diagnostics only for it to fix itself 30 seconds later.
    3. Macbook sometimes takes up to 45 seconds to go to sleep, I do not have a document trying to be printed.
    4. Macbook trackpad ALWAYS takes 5 seconds to wake up when opening.
    5. Macbook freezes about every 2 weeks forcing me to hard restart it.
I have never had a single one of those problems in the entire 3 years I had my original macbook.
What can I do to fix these problems?
    Thank you for the help.

Take it to the store, or you might want to reinstall the OS.

  • What the **** is wrong with the apple store

Today I restored my old iPod touch 2g to iOS4.2.1 it completed the installations successfully but at last it needs to connected to the apple store but its not working ! it runs "Accessing Apple Store" for hours but not connecting! I'm bored of this stuff ! now i cannot use my  ipod it says to connect to itunes and itunes ***** !

it runs "Accessing Apple Store" for hours but not connecting!
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

MacBook Pro continues to reboot then shows main screen with flickering green and white lines then restarts again what the heck is wrong with it?!

Sorry we can't assist with that, you'll have to take it to Apple.

  • What the heck is going on with my Virtual Memory??!!

I'm not really sure why but when I check activity monitor and see my VM it says i'm using anywhere from 230-270 gigs of virtual memory. This is literally fresh out of restart when it says this much and never changes. I go through and check every process I see runing and create a quick estimate of the virtual memory being used, and it's definitely not over 10 gigs if even 5; honestly I think it's listing between 1-2.
What the heck could be causing this? Verified HD and came up clean. Should I be concerned? I'm not gonna lie this macbook isn't running the best it used to be. Watching videos, whether mp4, mkv, youtube, is pretty laggy. I'm aways sure to close all other processes to to try and maximize video performance, not that it helps much. I'm considering a fresh install and recovery via timemachine.

I excluded the list of fonts from step 4 as I'm a graphic design major and have well over a thousand...and I didn't want you to burn up your scroll wheel or rub the tips of your fingers off with the amount of scrolling you'd have to do had I included them .
