Hello Experts....I am using Application Server 10g R2 on Windows Server 2003..In the Morning Everything(Especially Reports) Works fine...but in Evening i think it the Report Server get tired...it take too much time to run even simple Report..What the Hell is this..

What version of Oracle Application Server 10g are you installing?
If you are installing 10gR2 (v10.1.2.x) have you taken a look at point #70 in "Table 2 Additional Information for Certified Platforms" section here?

ORARRP 1.3.4/Oracle-Application-Server-10g/9.0.4.0.0 Oracle-HTTP on IE7

We have to use JInitiator 1.3.1.13 and ORARRP 1.3.4 on a MsWindows Client to connect to the HQ Oracle-Application-Server-10g/9.0.4.0.0 Oracle-HTTP-Server.
We have noticed this will run almost 100% in MSInternet Explorer version 7.0.5730.11 .
Except for the ORARRP remote print utility which seems to have some timing problem i.e. when generating a report in the browser screen a temporary browser screen will open and close immediately again. Using the advanced debug option in orarrp.ini to monitor any errors does not show any problem.
However when clicking quickly in the temporary browser screen the Printer selection screen will pop-up and the local printer can be selected to print-out the report.
PDF-reports to screen work normally with IE7. ORARRP will start Adobe Acrobat reader (version 8.1.0).
Has someone solved this issue with local printing using ORARRP on IE7?
We would like to deploy IE7 asap because of its better features and rendering than IE6.

i am asking u to loock with me to the best solution for my environment
becuse we want to upgrade our Environment work :
Current Work Environment:
- Oracle Database Server R 8i as (database)
- Oracle Developer 2000 as (Forms & Reports)
our comunity is welling to upgrade our work to 10g
and we are asking for the best release that we can use to a complish the best senario for our environment .
i have the current seggestion :
- Upgrade the database to R 10gR2 (Export&Import).
- Install & Migrate the developer side as Infrastruction Appliction Server 10gR(10.1.2.0 ) .
- Install the Middle Tire as BI Forms&Reports & Migrate our whole system to the new Release using developer Suite 10g .
i am asking you'r seggestions & Best Bractice in my case .
also what is the most Stable relase we can use .

You can do an easier installation by only using base release of 10.1.2.0.2. What I stated would be good practice:
By * DB 10.2.0.3 ---- > u mean (Database Version) => Yes, use Database version 10.2.0.3
By * Identity Management 10.1.4.0.1 (OID/SSO) -----> u mean (Application Server infrastructure) => Yes, use Identity Management 10.1.4.0.1 instead of the infrastructure on Application Server 10.1.2.0.2
By * Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 -----> u mean (Middle Tire Forms&Report Services) => Yes, use Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 as middle-tier. When installed, upgrade it to 10.1.2.2 (with the latest patchset)
By * Patch Application Server DB client to 10.1.0.5 ----> u mean what? => Before you upgrade AS to 10.1.2.2 it's mandatory to upgrade the Database client software in the Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 home to 10.1.0.5. Default is 10.1.4. You'll see database client version by for instance starting SQL*Plus.
For your Developer (Forms) upgrade: Forms 4.0/4.5 - 6i -> 10g. See: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/upgrade/index.html. If you have tons of Forms, then I recommend using a tool like the great PITTS.CON (http://www.pitss.com/en/pcon/index.htm).

I was installing application server 10g r2 (infrastructure) on a redhat es4 and I got an error on the configuration assistant for single sign on.
The log file is not telling me what went wrong. Has anybody experienced this problem? How do I restart the configuration assistant?

I have been given a new assignment which involves Oracle Applications server 10g, i am new to oracle application server and hoping that some one will please clarify my doubts.
i have to clone a production machine (Solaris 10) which has oracle AS 10g, this machine had oracle database 10g before and just the application server was installed on it, i have to clone a test environment for this machine, i have the following two doubts
1) Is it possible to just install Oracle Application server 10g on a machine which already contains oracle 10g database, if so then what about the database that gets installed when installing Oracle application server 10g.
2) How to clone the above production machine, should the oracle 10g database be cloned first and then oracle application server 10g cloned on the new machine?

The DB that comes with OAS as the infrastructure DB for it (I presume you are installing a full OAS with infrastructure and midtier both) does not affect the DB you already have on your system ... obviously ... as long as you install them in their separate homes.
2) I always say, this term cloning is somewhat loosely used in general communication meaning making copies. In OAS context, Cloning works for middletiers only. You cannot clone an infrastructure.
To make a redundant/alternate environment for OAS, you can do the following:
- a) either use the same infra on machine 1, and install another midtier and register with the same infra.
- b) or install a separate infra on machine 2, and also a midtier registered with it.
Here for the first option a), Cloning can be used because you can (*only*) clone a middle-tier. There are pros and cons for this setup, including that you share the SSO, and OID, and hence users and groups bases, etc on those two environments - something that you may or may not want. But then there are also some way-outs to avoid them or minimize their effects too. Please see the following reference for cloning and search on Metalink for how to minimize effects, once you get better familiar with the processes.

(I also need to do manipulations on the data pulled out.)

This is a simple overview of my project..
Basically i need to convert a client server application which was initially in Access (and coded in VBA) and oracle to oracle based web application.
The application that was built in access has various flaws and hence we decided to rewrite them with lot of new features..
what i would need is several web pages(probably intranet based...) where i pull data from the oracle db, and then do manipulations on them and then based on certain criteria come up with a report based on users needs...

Notice that you can deploy different kind of applications within the Application Server framework, e.g. JEE applications, PL/SQL applications, Forms Applications etc. Based on what you initially mentioned, it seems that your have developed a Forms application. The above document reference refers to Application Server 10.1.3, which was a JEE / SOA release. You are probably better off with the [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_18/web.1012/b14032/toc.htm]Forms Deployment Guide.
One note : Application Server 10.1.2.x is soon to be desupported. Consider to move to version [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/downloads/index.html]11.1.2 !

Oracle Application Server 10g R3 with patch set 10.1.3.5.0

Can anyone help me on this, When I install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) and patch set 10.1.3.5.0 on Linux. I am not able to find forms and reports container.
This version doesn't support forms and reports or I have go OAS 10g R2 (10.1.2.0.2) with patch set 3 (10.1.2.3.0). What is the difference between these two releases.

2)Forms only support Windows 7 32 bit only.

3)Could you provide more information of JVM because when you install 10gR2 it has JDK and JRE present in it.

the case is that we developed an ADF Application, so we want to deploy it on the latest version of Oracle Application server.
our application communicate with Oracle reports (run oracle reports from our Application) as there are no Oracle report products for JEE Application.
so if there are not report service that can run on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0),
what is the other choices that oracle supports that can help us in this case ???
