I am wondering why in A2 Apple (yet again) missed some very simple but very useful preference for image editing. Why can't you customize (maintain the persistence of) the adjustments blocks in the HUD that you use all the time over multiple images without resorting to a hack? (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1391384&tstart=90) How many of you use the raw fine tuning adjustments on every image? Almost never? How about hiding it? Can't? Oh well, just remember to always click to show sharpening for every image! Preposterous! Further, how about a keystroke for auto adjust? Too complicated? Can't make one with the custom keystrokes. Come on, one keystroke for an auto adjust, how nice would that be???? Evidently too nice. I mean, I hate to sound like a crank but some of this is really basic. In A1.5 you couldn't arrange the order of the adjustments (they changed the fixed order in 2.0 to better reflect an intelligent workflow thank goodness) but again, why can't you drag the adjustments to the order you want??? I love most of apple's interface decisions but sometimes, when they don't get something really simply right it drives me nuts. PLEASE LET ME CUSTOMIZE THE HUD!!!!!! KEYSTROKES AND PERSISTENCE OF ADJUSTMENTS BLOCKS. THIS IS BASIC. THANKS!!!! I am interested to know if others find this an issue or not.

Funny, I just downloaded A2 couple nites ago and was wondering the same thing. I came here looking to see if they did bring in preferences for the adjustment hud.
If I'm going to buy this new version, guess I 'll have to hack it like the last 1.
Do we know for sure that there isn't a place to set those preferences.
Yes the image flow is better, but its pretty silly not to be able to set up your workflow like you want. Its important. One thing I do notice is that it does seem to do a nicer job with Neff files. Much better color than before it seems.

Is there a Way to Make the HUD More Transparent

I have been doing a number of Full screen adjustments with the HUD, but I find I am always moving the HUD so that I can see the image section I need to tweek. It would be EXTREMELY nice if I could make the HUD more transparent so that I can see the underlying image better. As the HUD is already partly transparent, I know there must be a preference somewhere to increase the transparency. Since I can not seem to find any mention of this in the manual, and no menu option (that I can find), I assume the only way to make the HUD more transparent, would be edit a plist.
Would anyone know what I need to do to make the HUD more transparent?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would hope that application developers would learn from game developers, where HUDs are used ubiquitously.. Very usable and can be even 90% transparent or more.... it is all about contrast. There is a LOT of opaque DARK gray space in the Aperture HUDs, which could easily be much more transparent (even 50% would help). All you would have to do is keep the adjustment controls contrast up. i.e. Apples DVD Player Navigator.
Anyway.... it would be nice.

Can I customize the HUD?

Here's more of an annoyance than a problem, but it relates to establishing good workflow.
I know on my files when I use the HUD, it defaults to certain tools. I then can add additional tools I may need. However, each new image it defaults back to the standard set up. Its a little time consuming to have to click the extra tools over a hundred plus images. Can i set it up to keep all the tools I want all the time or until i choose to change them? Sorry if this is "dumb" question.

Hopefully, there will be a preferences setting for this in a future release.
In addition, I would like to have the ability to add a button for this preference to the option bar. This way I can click and then select or deselect what tools should be present in the HUD when activating for the first time for a given image without having to go to the preferences each time. This should not influence the HUD for images already adjusted.
In the meantime I have made a "dummy" with all the tools activated but not adjusted in any way in the HUD, and I then use "Lift and Stamp" with the wanted tools selected for a new series of images

Apparently I have MULTIPLE Apple ID's, many linked to very old computers/emails that I no longer use and I have no clue what they are nor what the passwords could possibly be. I just want to be able to listen to music THAT I OWN!

I am trying to play music on my iTunes that I had burned from either CD's that I had bought & own (in order to preserve the CD from damage and it is all only for my personal use) or purchased through iTunes. Much, but not all of this was done on an old computer, and on old e-mails that no longer exist, and for that matter I have no clue what the passwords could possibly be! The computer that I use now is at least 10 years old, so how am I supposed to remember passwords from that long ago? I am constantly being told to reset my password, but that apparently just seems to compound the issue. One account will not even accept my birthday and my security question which I know with 100% certainty are correct. I JUST WANT ACCESS TO MUSIC I OWN OR HAVE PURCHASED over the past 20+ years, and I don't care what computer I did it on or what e-mail address I used, and forget about trying to recall my password! Apple makes it so difficult to do passwords it's ridiculous! I would need a book to write down every password that I have tried, and apparently not succeeded in using! add to my frustration is that my son put literally TONS of his music onto my computer and used his various Apple ID's and passwords, and it's just a bumble cluck of a mess. AGAIN, I only want access to MY MUSIC!

You're supposed to remember them or make note of them because they are key to a resource in which you have invested financially, just like keeping records for bank accounts you have or keys to your car. It is just that people haven't woken up to the importance of having a digital legacy too.

Can you please take a look at my TM Buddy log and opine on what the problem is? I'm stuck in the "Preparing Backup" phase for what must be hours now. My last successful backup was this morning at 7:16 am. I did do a series of Software Update this morning, one of which, a security update I believe, required a restart.
I'm confused as to what the issue is, and how to get everything back to "it just works".

Time Machine can't read some data it needs from your backups (each of those date-stamps is one of your backups).
That's usually a problem with the drive itself, but could be the directory on it. First be sure all plugs are snug and secure, then see if you can repair it, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If that doesn't help, post back with the results. Also either tell us what kind of Mac you have, what version of OSX you're running, or post that to your Profile, so it's accessible.

How do you determine what the default filename is when you do a SaveAs?

I have a shcedule that I saved and now I want to save it as a .pdf file, so I go into File, SaveAs and select .pdf in the drop down and the default filename is "document" not what the name of my schedule was. Where is that set? How
do I make it default to the name of the MS Project Filename?

Which version, SP and CU do you have? Trying with Project 2010 SP1, the original file name is kept whatever extension selected in the "save as" dialog box.

If I toggle the button in the top right of the HUD it 'unlocks' and I can drag it to where I prefer -- at the left margin; (for over a decade) my dock has resided at the right margin so all my slider manipulation over countless editing sessions in Aperture has been ingrained to work at the left margin -- but, the vast majority of the time, the HUD overlaps the image I am editing in this 'unlocked' mode.
Every occasionally I enter Full Screen View and it positions on the left margin *without* superimposition...(!) My great joy is modulated into aggravation, however, should my tracking cursor drift all the way 'out of bounds' -- to call in the hidden pane of adjacent images sequenced in the library... This dramatically shrinks the Full Screen display and re-locks the HUD; if I toggle the switch to re-xpand the image it re-positions at the right margin!!!! I SOOoooooo wish I knew how to control the default 'locked' margin of the HUD in Full Screen View...

Drag it over to the Left. Then lock it there.

*Here you are using the local data object as your data type so it will always

And for performance always the second option is better, use Data instead of tables, declare your own local structure.

In arrayCollection = null; statement you're setting this
reference to null and potentially making it available for garbage
collection. I say 'this reference' and potentially because, as you
may know, there might be other references to this array collection
object that won't be affected by this statement and hence it won't
be GC'ed.
arrayCollection.removeAll() says that I want to empty this
array collection for all the reference that we pointing to it. That
is, remove all the objects from the collection -- and of course
make them 'potentially' available for the GC -- the size of the
array collection would be reduced down to zero and all the
references would be pointing to a valid but empty collection.

I'm guessing it's a compatibility problem similar to that that T-Mobile in the US has. I'm not familiar with chat-r wireless, but I'm guessing it's not a supported carrier for the iPhone. If they can't tell you how to fix it, I'm guessing it's just plain not going to work.

The apps were purchased by another user with a different Apple ID. You will have to erase them and repurchase them using your Apple ID.
